Hi! List five things that make you happy; then, if you'd like to, put this in the ask box of the last ten people who reblogged something from you and spread some positivity! 🧡
thank you! These are all very specific and recent, haha, otherwise I couldn’t pick.
The Lord of the Rings!! I’ve been rereading it for a class, and it’s making a strong contender for favorite novel?? I’d forgotten how much I love it and how good it is!
The song “Two Sleepy People”! I’ve just fallen in love with the performance of Sammy Davis Jr. and Carmen McRae. It’s a really sweet and funny love song
recently I’ve been feeling super grateful for my friend M. She is an amazing friend, but she’s also so much fun simply to hang out with!
slightly cooler weather today + rain this last week!
today in church we sang “Thy Mercy, My God,” which is an amazing hymn, convicting and joyful at the same time. I love it!

Here is non-exhaustive list of movies I like. How many have you good people seen?
I feel like someone 100%-ing this is unlikely due to the Australian movies on the list, but who knows? Also I keep thinking of others that could be on the list. Oh well, I did say non-exhaustive.
no pressure tagging a few people in case they'd like to do this. anyone else please feel free to jump in too!
@accidental-spice @sailforvalinor @mademoiseli @dimsilver @lightthewaybackhome
thanks to @batmantaking-hobbits2gallifrey for tagging me. this was fun, though it took me ages to think of so many movies I really like.

Nadia Sings no. 7
Link to last song
Yes, believe your eyes—it’s a Nadia Sings double feature!
This is one of my favorite jazz standards to sing, and it’s not one that I think most people will know: “You’ll Never Know” (Music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Mack Gordon)
The song was introduced in the 1943 movie “Hello, Frisco, Hello”, where it was sung by Alice Faye, eventually going on to win the 1943 Academy Award for Best Original Song.
In the 21st century, the song was featured in the 2017 film “The Shape of Water”, sung there by the legendary American opera singer, Renee Fleming.
When I first heard this song, between the lovely lyrics and beautiful melody, I immediately fell in love, and I could not believe it when I saw that it was sung by Renee Fleming, who was one of my inspirations growing up.
So I learned it as soon as I could… and have never performed it since—until now, and I think this is the proudest I’ve been of a recording.
I’ll let it speak for itself.
Again, my usual disclaimer; this was recorded in my new recording studio (my closet), using my favorite recording app, BandLab (again, you guys know the drill 🤣), and, as usual, while I put a little reverb effect on my vocal track, this is otherwise as unadulterated a track as the one I posted last time, just my voice, with no pitch correction, recorded into my iPhone.
(Headphones recommended to hear the reverb)

Team Lewis 2023
Announcing the 2023 Inklings Challenge team assignments!
Members of Team Lewis are challenged to write a science fiction or fantasy story within the Christian worldview that fits into one of these two genres:
Portal Fantasy: Stories where someone from the real world explores a new world
Space Travel: Stories about traveling through space or exploring other planets
These genres are open to interpretation, and creativity is encouraged. You can use either or both of the prompts within your story, or if you’re feeling ambitious, you can write multiple stories.
Members of Team Lewis are also asked to use at least one of the following seven Christian themes to inspire some part of their story.
Feed the hungry
Give drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked
Shelter the homeless
Visit the sick
Visit the imprisoned
Bury the dead
Writers are challenged to complete and post their story to a tumblr blog by October 21, 2022, though they are encouraged to post earlier if they finish their story before that date. There is no maximum or minimum word limit. Writers who have not completed their stories before the deadline are encouraged to post whatever they have written by October 21st and post the remainder at a later date.
Posting the Stories
All stories will be reblogged and archived on the main Inklings Challenge blog. To assist with organization, writers should tag their posts as follows:
Mention the main Challenge blog @inklings-challenge somewhere within the body of the post (which will hopefully alert the Challenge blog).
Tag the story #inklingschallenge, to ensure it shows up in the Challenge tag, and make it more likely that the Challenge blog will find it.
Tag the team that the author is writing for: #team lewis, #team tolkien, or #team chesterton.
Tag the genre the story falls under: #genre: portal fantasy, #genre: space travel, #genre: secondary world, #genre: time travel, #genre: intrusive fantasy, #genre: adventure
Tag any themes that were used within the story: #theme: food, #theme: drink, #theme: clothing, #theme: shelter, #theme: visit the sick, #theme: visit the imprisoned, #theme: burial
Tag the completion status of the story: #story: complete or #story: unfinished

1 and 11 for the book asks!
Best book you have read in 2023 so far
There are several that I liked very much for different reasons, but there's not a single one that's sticking out as the absolute best. I loved the abridged version Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin (as you can probably guess by how many stories I shared from it), but unfortunately, thanks to Seward's one instance of blasphemy, I felt guilty about it and didn't seek out the full book. Endurance by Alfred Lansing was a very exciting account of Shackleton's Antarctic expedition. As for fiction, I was surprised by how much I liked Washington Square by Henry James, despite its small, sad story that's usually not my cup of tea. A Field Guide to Mermaids by Emily B. Martin was also a beautiful mix of science fact and fantasy worldbuilding--I would have adored this book if it had existed when I was a kid.
11. Most beautiful book you bought or received this year
I bought this book about the sacraments partly because of how pretty it was.

tagged by the one and only Fox, aka @paranormal-taters 💜
favorite color: still green :). though I’ve been very partial to sunset orange and dark red recently.
last song: summertime by my chemical romance.
currently reading: listening to the audiobook of The House on Vesper Sands by Paraic O’Donnell and trying to decide which to read first of my library books, The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia McKillip or A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. (both have been started already but just barely)
currently watching: not much atm😔. (although I have been rewatching bit and pieces of smallville here and there since I finished it🙈) will probably continue rewatching teen wolf s3 when my little sister is home from college in a week or two.
currently craving: a change in circumstances and a sparkling water.
tagging @batmantaking-hobbits2gallifrey, @lilaccatholic, and @dangerously-human, if you so wish💜.

Thanks @batmantaking-hobbits2gallifrey for tagging me!
Favourite colour: I’m still really digging the greens at the moment, so many beautiful shades
Last song: Samba de Orfeu by Antonio Carlos Jobim (my dad recommended his music to me and I think I like it for some evening background listening)
Currently reading: Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. It’s taken a bit of getting into, but I’m enjoying it.
Currently watching: The only thing regular at the moment is the Ken Burns documentary on Baseball, which is pretty interesting.
Currently craving: a sound night’s sleep and a seaside holiday. Really must get around to booking the latter now that I’ve got the money and accrued annual leave…
tagging @sailforvalinor @accidental-spice @the-old-fashioned-girl @siena-sevenwits and anyone else who wants to play :)

Nadia Sings no. 6
Link to last song
After a hiatus, we are back, baby!
Today we have a Christmas classic: “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee (music and lyrics by Johnny Marks)
As a child, this was one of my favorite Christmas songs to sing along to; I would especially put on our album of Christmas songs to sing this, among other songs, and in the spirit of the season, I thought it would be fitting to give you all this.
In the time I’ve been away, I’ve found a new recording studio—my closet, I’m not even kidding—and I am still using BandLab, which just keeps improving, in my opinion (still not an advertisement, though at this rate, I feel like I should get paid for it), and I have to say that I am very happy with how I produced this; the little radio/vinyl effect I put on my vocals really makes it feel retro, which I did on purpose to match the feel of Brenda Lee’s original recording.
Again, my usual disclaimer; this was recorded in my new recording studio (my closet), using my favorite recording app, BandLab (you guys know the drill 🤣), and, as usual, while I put a little vintage/retro effect on my vocal track, this is otherwise as unadulterated a track as the one I posted last time, just my voice, with no pitch correction, recorded into my iPhone.
(Headphones recommended for the full vintage experience)
