The Handmaid’s Tale 5x04 “Dear Offred”👀

Dragged my heels typing this one up...😬

Last episode ended with “NEVER TOUCH MY DAUGHTER AGAIN” (to crazy lady, re Hannah) and this one started with “DO NOT TOUCH MY DAUGHTER” (to crazy lady, re Holly Nichole). June being ferocious protective mama bear of both her babies❤️. This scene also reminded me of the flashback where a woman tried to steal baby Hannah in the hospital, except much more insidious with the Gilead vitriol. And while then June was frozen, post Gilead June immediately and ferociously defends. I really don’t think this woman has any idea who she’s dealing with...

“Was...was she ok? (nervous laugh)” 😂 Ok this is NOT the therapy June needs. This woman is terrified of June and it’s kind of hilarious but also not funny bc she is so clearly not equipped, and wtf is Luke doing there to give disappointed sighs and talk about her with the therapist in the third person like she’s not there? “How do we know she…uh, you…won’t get physical again?” I half expected the therapist to reply “well a rolled up newspaper often works”. 🙄

Poor Tuello looks so defeated (again!) when his girlfriend dumps him (again!), this time for “God”. Sorry, Mark, guess you can take the Serena out of the Gilead, but you can’t take the Gilead out of Serena!

At this point all I wrote in my notes was “SO DISTURBING” so honestly I have to replay to look it up... oh ok I think it had to do with the Gilead colors and insignia going up in her new office, just like it’s creeping into Canada... (could have been a lot of things in this episode, though, honestly).

At first I kind of thought maybe Luke and June were being too hard on Mark and their expectations were too high, but then I remembered that he definitely didn’t have to let Serena bat her pretty eyelashes and flounce off to Gilead to orchestrate the live funeral event of the year, which gave her the means for more reach and power...DAMNIT, Mark! June did warn you, and so did I. You are a disappointment. I told you not to let me down!🙄😒

So, once again Tuello doesn’t get it, and Luke doesn’t get it. June is the only one who understands how dangerous Serena is, her reach and ability to spread the poison of Gilead into Canada and the free world (driver’s license or not)… June is like, once again, I will take care of this myself (I knew that gun wouldn’t stay buried long!).

I just noticed June’s gold locket, bet you anything there’s a little picture of Hannah in there.🥺

I am loving this I-don’t-give-a-shit-anymore-cus-I-almost-died-and-I’m-in-pain-and-fuck-this-shit Janine... she reminds me of “welcome to the fucking looney bin” Janine before Aunt Lydia took her eye and broke her. And now she is maybe going to be the one to finally teach Lydia some goddamn compassion and humanity. I’m fucking glad she’s not letting Lydia off the hook for her bullshit this time. She’s like, I beat death, again, I’m not afraid of you, bitch!!😆

June finally says it: “He doesn’t know what he’s doing and he seems to forget none of it worked the first time”. They’ve all seen this before, the slow creep of Gilead that people didn’t take seriously enough until it was too late. They played by the rules then, too. June doesn’t play by the rules anymore. Playing by the rules got her family torn apart and her stuck in Gilead, and Gilead taught her not to play by the rules.

Even if Moira and Luke do not seem to be alarmed enough by the threat of history repeating itself, they are right in a sense: this isn’t the same situation as with Fred, and June can’t just shoot Serena in her glass Gilead tower without going to prison (or extradited back to Gilead for execution?? not totally certain how the new territory works, but it’s not no-man’s-land) and losing Nichole. Losing her other daughter. The “it’s not worth losing your family over” really made me sad, though, since TESTAMENTS SPOILERS: we know that June is ultimately going to lose her family anyway, both her daughters, at least for many years until they’re eventually reunited.

I am happy the Moira/June dynamic seems more comfortable and copacetic. Even if it’s mostly because June is trying to adhere to Moira’s playbook: the (useless) therapy, trying to curb her anger, not tearing anyone else apart with her bare hands (and teeth) lately. I do also think Moira gained some different perspective and understanding from their trip to the Mayday women, though.

Not news but I continue to be impressed by the constant ways Serena finds to be a flaming hypocrite. Like she can now write and wears her little power pant suits. I love how she only wears the Gilead dress now as basically a costume, to use as a tool for her advantage as needed--we first saw that when she switched back from civilian clothes to the teal for her reemergence as “Gilead power couple” for Fred’s trial, then for her field trip home and now for her weird pregnancy Gilead glamour shots.🤰🏼💁🏼‍♀️

LOL wow I realized why Ezra looks so familiar to me and it’s because he played “Nostradamus” on Reign (the wildly historically inaccurate but gorgeously costumed CW period drama from years back).

“My wife is going to kill you and I’m going to let her”... I wrote my more in depth thoughts on this the other day so won’t go into it here but yeah, I found the specifically possessive language very striking in this scene.

The Serena mentioning Nick thing was the one thing I was looking forward to this episode but honestly I was underwhelmed. Maybe it’s because I actually felt bad for Luke this whole scene, or because I wanted her to mention more specifics for certain viewers who seem to need reminding. Anyway. I know that Serena was obviously just saying it to be a c*unt and verbally kick Luke in the balls, but the thing is I couldn’t help thinking that, despite the jealousy he understandably would have felt (and still feels), I’s think Luke actually should have also derived comfort from knowing that Nick, that someone, was looking out for June (he doesn’t even know how much). And he did seem to be grateful for that at the end of the Luke/Nick scene in 2x08, when he knew Nick as just a “friend”... but after knowing they were lovers I think maybe his jealousy and insecurity gets the best of him. I was just thinking, I feel like I used to have a higher view of Luke, because I remember, I think probably after 2x09, and after Luke listens to her tape in 3x05(?) being really moved thinking like “damn, both these men really love June so much, as hard as it would be for their heart and ego, I don’t think either would begrudge her the love of the other.” And tbh I definitely still feel that from Nick (if anything more so), but I no longer feel like that’s the case the other way around.🫤

Wow, JLaw did not sugarcoat it for Lydia. What he’s saying is fucked but but he’s right, she shouldn’t be surprised. She’s been willfully operating with blinders on as regards the (most) horrible things the majority of commanders do to handmaids, in able to rationalize the horrible things SHE does to these women, in the name of god’s plan and babies and shit. June told her in 4x03 but she was able to tell herself June was a sinner, a wicked woman not to be believed. Janine even tried to tell her about Esther (as she points out earlier this ep) but she was able to dismiss that as an outlier. It takes Janine throwing the facts in her face, again, after almost dying, and Joseph confirming it, to finally take the blinders off.

Am I crazy or is this yet another different baby (Nichole)?? Obv I know it’s a different baby from last season but for some reason I feel like she looks different from s5 ep 1-3?? Maybe it’s just the lighting.😂🤷‍♀️

I spy a former Handmaid murder gang at the protest 👀! Also, FUCK this guy, I’d have to hold back from shooting him too, especially after he punches Moira… Speaking of which, this is the second time this season someone’s shot a gun into the air so far... seems like maybe a metaphor for s5, gearing up for shit to go down and then nothing happens?😬

The car scene and especially Luke handling the gun made me SO UNCOMFY. I think it made me more uncomfortable than the sex scene (and that was awkward as fuck). I don’t know, I think it was that he seemed to be “play acting" and posing with it like “look at me being cool and murderous, are you into me now?” I just don’t buy it. I can believe that he hates Serena and wants her to fuck off and maybe even wishes her dead, and that’s understandable, but I don’t think he would do it himself. And that’s also understandable and fine but it just feels like he’s acting this way because he thinks it’s what June wants, and that feels weird.

“The Chain” is an interesting song choice here...I feel like it can have multiple meanings... from this site https://www.musicbanter.com/lyrics/Fleetwood-Mac-The-Chain.html: The "chain" is the marriage or relationship that they had before her partner decided to be unfaithful. The line "Run in the shadows, damn your love, damn your lies" indicates that the infidelity is known and bitterly accepted. The woman tells the man, "I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain" repeatedly throughout the song and brings him to task for the vows and promises made when they got together. Ultimately she tells the man that if he does not give her all of his love and commitment right now, he will lose her forever. So... is that about Luke bitterly accepting June’s affair with Nick? ...And his fear that if he doesn’t fully dedicate himself also to June’s fight (which means becoming more like Nick--or what he thinks Nick is), he will lose her forever? Dunno. Would love to see other’s thoughts on the meaning here...

Deliciously karmic Serena handmaid vibes with this new teal weirdo... Serena looks mildly perturbed at the ominous feeling that the shoe is now on the other foot. I kind of wonder about Ezra. What’s his deal? Is he really looking out for Serena? Or does he work for the Wheelers and their ulterior motives? Or something else entirely?

June and Luke lying in bed after (don’t make me say it again)... reminded me a little of the opening scene in ep where they’re in bed: in that scene he is sleeping with his back to her and she is laying on her back eyes open staring at the ceiling, remembering Serena’s cruelty and how she wants to make her pay for it...they’re totally disconnected. In this scene they are now physically connected, he is facing her and holding her, and she is slightly turned towards him and seems to almost surrender to the embrace, but then her face turns and is similar to the previous scene: looking up, detached. She is physically present and connected to Luke but still mentally seems elsewhere. 🤔

I’m gonna throw some random thoughts/predictions about NEO at the wall. Mostly bc I’ve been thinking about this stuff for a while and need to shout into the void about it. (It will get into the Game’s Opening Sequence as well as any information that’s come out so far, just to mention it in case you were avoiding that content.) Join me for a lot of this down below the cut!

First of all, Tsugumi. In A.N.D we see her in a destroyed Shinjuku. Along with the visions of the future she gives Neku there are these messages.

“Everyone’s gone away..... All that’s left in the world is me.” (City being destroyed.)

“I can’t hear a thing...” (Tsugumi is walking the streets alone.)

“Hello? Is anybody there?” (Joshua shooting.)

“Somebody... Anybody... Can anybody hear me?” (Rhyme dying to (purple) shark noise.)

This last one isn’t a vision. It happens after Coco shoots Neku and he vanishes. Which leads me to think, since it is mostly a repeat of the first two future visions, it’s actually happening in this moment. It could be Tsugumi calling out one last time...... Before she’s overtaken by something?

“Too late... It’s all over...” (Same as first two. Tsugumi’s eyes notably turn red more than before.)

How is she giving Neku these visions? (It seems that she’s just calling out to anybody, and for some reason Neku heard her.) To send visions like that I’d think that Tsugumi is either Shinjuku’s Composer or maybe an angel? Or something else we’ve not seen? And they’re all visions of the future. Is Tsugumi speaking into the past as well as projecting those images? (We’re assuming that the reason for Shinjuku Reapers being in Shibuya is bc the UG in Shinjuku has been destroyed. So are the visions congruent with Shinjuku being destroyed or is the city being destroyed in the future, likely sometime between TWEWY and NEO?) The possibility of time travel makes things a million times more complicated.

Or maybe Tsugumi wasn’t quite sending him visions at all, and it was a kind of side effect of being linked to a Composer (since they are somewhat omniscient, and bc some of those visions were not really related to Tsugumi.) She was just trying to communicate with him, but some of that power leaked through their psychic bond and gave Neku a bit of clairvoyance?

If Shinjuku’s UG got destroyed, does that leave the Composer alive? We know that the Composer killing themselves would effectively shut down the UG, but if it happens the other way around? The Composer still exists, but would there be no consequence for losing an integral part of themselves? If the Composer’s connection to the UG is so pivotal, maybe the UG being gone is the reason why Tsugumi seems so...empty? (Is she so vacant that someone else is pulling the strings at this point?) It’s odd for Tsugumi to call out to Neku for help, but target him in NEO. (Given orders to target him.)

Also maybe the UG being destroyed but the Composer still existing explains Joshua’s....odd reaction to her? “How fortunate she managed to escape erasure.” Said when he was just in a position of wanting to kill himself in order to destroy his UG. He doesn’t use that sprite often ya know. It could explain the expression he has and the mumbled speech bubble used. Joshua said that he needed to get rid of His UG bc it could negatively tamper with the other grounds. To discover that could be done without killing himself... (And without him knowing of the apparent side effect of a “vacant Composer” Assuming that theory is true in the first place.)

But why does she have a Mr.Mew doll? Uhhhhh.... There’s also some time shenanigans happening too. And that throws many “what-ifs” into the mix, so I’ll avoid going down that rabbit hole. Basically I have no idea, the possibilities are kinda endless with time travel.

Another thing. This guy is also important. Very important apparently. I had a vague idea about him at first, a guess kinda outta left field, but I mean....I’m liking what bits I’ve scraped together for my guess theory by now. Onto speculating about Mr.Kubo here......

In the game’s opening sequence he walks right past Tsugumi (so connected to her in some way), leans in towards the camera, looks at you and does his little eccentric pose.

The only other characters who sorta look into the camera for the opening sequence are Shiba and Shoka, BUT in Shiba’s case it’s more like the camera is centered on him looking forward, and Shoka is more so interacting with Rindo with the way her scene was done. Here Kubo is just walking alone, stops and his eyes lock with the camera...... so wtf does this mean, you’re probably asking. It’s just a funky game introduction, it’s just this dude being weird. Yes, that is all true.

I know that he’s introduced in the line up as a Shinjuku Reaper, along with everyone else. But... I think this guy is Shinjuku’s Producer. If Tsugumi is Shinjuku’s Composer it makes sense for him to follow Her into Shibuya, he’s basically tasked to watch over Her.

Compared to the other Shinjuku Reapers, his color scheme is more...grey scaled. The girl has a grey suit, but Kubo doesn’t have any colors to his outfit at all. His clothes are plain compared to everyone else in this lineup. His facial expressions are the only...unique thing to his appearance. In the little bit of English dialogue we have of him so far, it seems that he’s giving us some kind of advice? And Fret looks to be put off with his eccentric (I can’t think of a more accurate word for it) demeanor.

So the middle aged man with an eccentric personality, with a tendency to give advice (?), pretending to be involved in the game in ways they are not, clothes styled in only neutral colors, and the funky little watch they’re wearing....along with the light poking at the fourth wall (Mr.H- “You mean those teasers?”) both Kubo and Hanekoma fit that bill.

Tbh Hanekoma is a bit eccentric, we’re just so used to how he is by now. The watch is just a minor thing that’s a fun little similarity in their designs don’t worry about it. Don’t tell me the watch isn’t important it ties everything together. Also after a quick goggle search, one website is telling me that Kubo’s name means “sunken ground” in Japanese and this other website is telling me what the individual kanji means, (I do not know Japanese in any way and am assuming that the internet is right about all this. I feel like it tracks with him being a Producer though.)

And just to cap it off, maybe Shiba was Shinjuku’s Conductor. If he rose through Shibuya’s ranks so quickly he’s gotta know what he’s doing. Did he throw Shinjuku out of balance and get rid of the UG so the Composer would be an empty puppet (like Tsugumi kinda seems to be.) Is that why he’s doing all this? Does he plan to become the Conductor (right hand man of the Composer) and then erase the UG, rendering it’s Composer vacant and take control? Shiba wouldn’t know about the Producer, naturally. Is that what it’s all culminating too? Will Joshua be in danger at some point from this guy? I’m wondering when the Higher Plane would step in, but this might just be Kubo’s job since Shiba was Shinjuku’s Conductor (and Hanekoma’s job, since it’s happening in Shibuya now) unless it gets completely out of control. They don’t seem to interfere much, just letting the assigned angels do the groundwork.

So that’s all my thoughts about stuff. I wouldn’t go into the game heavily expecting much of this though. As fun as theories are I’ll be fine enjoying the game for whatever happens. The world-building in twewy is just extremely fascinating to me and I love it so much. This is just my take on a “‘what if” situation anyways so nothing close to this may happen, hahaha. But speculation is very fun and I love to flex my twewy knowledge (it’s been next to useless for like 10 years. Finally twewy is relevant.

Gossip Girl, EP. 4 Reaction & Review

Finally, I've gathered all of my thoughts for ep. 4! I had this really cool extra post to the intro and had more thoughts but then I lost the entire thing so I had to re-write the entire post SO, yeah, this is all I have for this part. Also, if anyone has those bts photos please let me know, i’m looking for the ones that have the audience reacting to max’s dick pick from the fashion show, aki biting his lip. please send.

ADULTS:

Kate & CO: JAIL JAIL JAIL. We had that one teacher being turned on by incest and ruining kids lives. DO BETTER IN JAIL. I'll say tho, the male teacher makes a better gossip girl, he doesn't feel bad and is enjoying it. Kate could never.

Rafa: JAIL. JAIL. JAIL. JAIL. JAIL. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU, WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU. I hate that they showed us this man having common sense. This man, pushing Max away sexually but understanding that he needs serious help. I hate that they just didn't have them flirting and show us him saying no, I'm so upset. I'm even more upset that I fell for him being the character to subvert the trope. I can only blame myself but blame HBO as well. I also hate the comments saying it's okay or well, the show needs scandal and spice. They could've been photographed together in normal clothes, just standing next to each other. Max could lie to GG. There are a bunch of ways these could become an IC scandal without having them cross the line. If you support this, you need help.

OUR KIDS:

Max: My boy needs therapy, lots of it. Maybe rehab. On one hand, he's being taken advantage of because he's clearly going through something and more than just his dads and he has been for a while. His escapism is dangerous and anyone would be able to prey on that. On the other hand, I need someone to beat his ass. His lines to Rafa about money and career were punch worthy and out-right willing to lie about Rafa doing something to him, even just to press Rafa's buttons. He needs help, he needs to be taught boundaries, he needs a lot. And why were the only two people concerned for his week-long disappearance Aki and Audrey, the whole squad should've had the guns out, friends since childhood, sure.

Obie: My boy, I get that you didn't like where you saw Zoya headed. I get that in some aspects you were right about her being a little too involved and suspecting Julien. That being said, she was having real problems and troubles and needed support. Do better. Obie still isn't the worst character on the show and many of them are SOOOO much worse. He doesn't deserve the all of the smoke he's been getting when their are better people for it.

Monet & Luna: I hate them as people and love them as characters that move the plot. I guess I could see how they thought the fuck school thing was horrible (and Julien too since she planned on showing Obie). The directors cut, I don't think they thought it'd ruin Zoya, they're just fucking cruel and found it funny. Let's box. Also, why are ya'll so pressed over this CHILD. Like get over it, find a real up-coming social media star.

Aki & Audrey: My good sis, you brought a gay man to make Aki jealous. I'm sick, it was fucking funny. Her comments at first were off the wall, I wish the writers would've done something else but a lot of woman don't see it as normal so I sort of get it. I'm glad she came around by the end. And Aki...he was a little spicy this episode, my boy was ready to pop off a bit AND I AM HERE FOR IT. My dude said, 'I don't regret kissing him' I was THROWN. Aki being with Audrey helps me like her more because she's a bitch that's still ready to gun for a now 15 year old girl but her and Aki's relationship is cute. They could break up and be fine which is great, I love that their relationship is really more than just dating and the friendship is strong. I'm here for it.

Zoya: It's just bad writing but my head canon is trauma. Trauma from her moms death death, trauma from the past and current bullying that caused her lash out. I felt like this was her breaking point (so far) and anything gossip girl related as always came around to Julien. If she trusted Julien more, she wouldn't have thought of her as the person causing her issue's but she doesn't trust her. They were civil but even at the end of ep 2. Her 'hell yeah' to Julien about bonding was too dry, too dry. I think a big part of her just doesn't trust Julien and she'll always think the worse because she's seen mostly the worse. And that video, horrible, I'd hate everything about my birthday too after that and even before. Her emotions during the scene and the talk with Julien, ouch. And while I'm happy that Zoya found herself in the end, YES GIRL POP OFF. THIS IS WHAT I WANTED. THIS IS THE FLAVOR. I WAS WAITING FOR THIS AND I WANT MORE. I DEMAND MORE. I SEE A SPARK OF A BITCH, LET HER OUT GO, GO ALISON DELAOTRUINES ON THESE BITCHES.

Julien: Once again, I love Julien as a character, I know she's supposed to be struggling and for that, It's fun to watch her BUT. Julien could never be on my team, she's too wishy-washy. That is my issue, she's too, just...flip-floppy with no substance. Like, when she does things wrong, they're expected to be forgiven / are forgiven without true reflection or anything on her part. She fucks up, she see's its wrong and then she says sorry and goes on it does it again. This episode was just the worst example, like, the moment she heard buffalo, she was ready to send in a tip. Instead of just doing the party normally and being best because she's hear, she sends the video to Monet. She believes Luna and Monet (Monet talking about her throne being taken when Zoya isn't even an influencer) and she eats it up. They were the ones who did the dick pick thing, like girl, THINK. And why does she never get the full plan, why would she not watch the video or why is she so shocked that Luna and Monet would play something like that? She knows them. Friends since childhood? Sure. Using your moms name to make the party about charity? SIS, THE FEUD IS NOT WORTH IT. She says she wants to be sisters but then she switches up so fast and the witches up again, it's whip-last and I'm sick. I hate that she's doing this to her and I hate even more that's is the writers fault. I don't mind a character having personal conflict but make it a conflict. Like after four episodes, why is she still friends with her sisters bullies? At the end of the episode, she says she's gonna tell them to lay down their weapons, NO, shut it down. correct them. make it clear and make it known. I love my girl because she's flawed but I wish they'd linger on things and have her really think about it. I was fine with the i'm sorry speech up until the camera part.

Other random thoughts

fuck the rafa max thing again, i'm not over, i will never be over it

evan mock isn't the best but he does give me face at times, his 'wtf stare', little sly looks, the 'wtf' moment when audrey first asked him if he was gay like 'this bitch' also, give him more annoyed, irritated scenes, he gives in those

have julien go full nice or full evil for a while, pick a side and stick with it for more than one episode

i wish zoya was a bitch at her old school but i'm fine with this too, it explains why she was so reactionary when it came to the bullying at constance, not again!

i wish we could've seen julien talk with davis after that stunt

nick and davis, KISS, the ride scene was 100%

don't talk about obie so soon

i like that she chose to be with julien for the night, it was cute

emily makes these faces that i can't get with

eli brown is a good actor, that shot of him during the traumatic reveal

i will say, zobie might be boring but when they talk, they talk, their communication is p good, i don't hate it

i’d be here for obie x aki bc they’re friends, they got chemistry, aki was giving look lil up and downs this episode, aki was giving a lot of looks this ep, honestly, idk i just don’t want him heart broken

aki menzies is still my comfort character

i couldn't take rafa serious with his ass out,

whitney's acting in that talk scene, perfect, my girl had me in tears because DAMN

jordan is pretty good but in that scene, go girl, give me nothing

max lied about his dads or at least one, AT LEAST one, i don't think they'd do that, he saw his in and took it

aki and aud, just have that open relationship, ya'll will make it, the way he tucked into her, it was so sweet

davi and nick secret relationship plot

jail for all of the teachers, once again

the hallway scene was great, the cinematography is been clutch overall

music wasn't as jarring

that's about it! i have more thoughts on the show overall that might be another post, they have a lot of amazing ideas but they need to stick with one and flush it out is the overall gist, i'm still into it!

can't wait for five bc i love the angst that's about to hit.

Some asks were answered already in this post already so I just smacked those asks in here at the part where I talk about the topic in question, which is why the answer may not 100% fit the question.

Massive ��Seasons of War” spoilers below the cut:

First off, of all, this book read like GoT/any zombie movie ever. With the necromancers being like the white walkers, Vile is the night king and daugar are the wights. even with the necromancers crumbling away after Vile got killed Tell me I’m not the only one seeing that.

I think there was a lot of fanservice and some confirmed headcanons in the book, which I really liked. Saracen magic got revealed, there was a return to the Leibniz dimension, the Vile vs Vile fight so many wanted finally happened (tho that was kinda underwhelming) and the Dead Men returned which I’m sure made a lot of people happy.

Ravel poisoning Saracen during the war and Vile being so powerful bc of being dead were two popular headcanons that got confirmed. And I am personally so happy that this book killed the ‘there is no sarcasm in the Leibniz dimension’ headcanon bc I bloody hated that.

Finally, Landy tries to please the old fans instead instead of what feels like purposefully pissing them off. I guess the phase 2 book sales weren’t that great so far (nice try blaming it on the pandemic, but no).

I’m also glad that the romance in this book was kept to a minimum bc The Val/Militsa kiss in the beginning, yikes, fanfiction has better written kisses than that. And the the dialog for the lesbian love triangle (bc for some reason Ms.Wicked aka Laura’s self insert is Militsa’s ex??) was cringy and stiff as hell, it felt more like first graders trying to do a dramatic play and not natural at all.

Surprisingly enough Mevolent’s and Serafina’s relationship seems to be the most healthy and romantic in the entire series and I have no idea if that was on purpose or if Landy just has twisted views on relationships.

I however am actually kinda happy with how Mev was written. He was sympathetic and charismatic, tho some of the stuff he did doesn’t fit to they way he’s characterised when he’s on screen (I know he is probably lying 90% of the time he speaks, but still). Like, banning all languages apart from English doesn’t seem like something a man who cares about culture, literature and art would do. It also seems kinda stupid bc those languages will be forgotten eventually and if they need an old text translated no one will be able to do it. Also, why English? Isn’t Mev old enough that his first/original language should be Gaelic? So weird. I have the feeling this was mainly done so Valkyrie (and with that the audience) can understand what the people on the continent are saying bc I very much doubt she understands/speaks any languages apart from English.

But I loved that Mev was also shown as insanely smart. He managed to outsmart Val multiple times. And I love how he doesn’t need his magic to fight, how quick and agil and skilled he is. So I take it that his fighting style is more based on agility and not getting hit, and he uses brute force only when forced into it (by Darquesse/the Unnamed). I was wondering about that bc his armor is made of leather and chainmail instead of metal plates which is considered light armor and not something a tank type of fighter would wear.

What really rubbed me the wrong way tho was when he was talking Tanith and Skul and more or less stated the war wasn’t a challenge anymore ever since Skul died. Or when he was talking to Val being like ‘you’re more powerful than I could ever hope to be’.It bothers me even more knowing that Val is based on girlfriend!Laura. Does really everyone and everything in-vers, even a big bad like Mev, rub Skul’s/Landy’s and Val’s/Laura’s ego? Big yikes.

Crespular Vies is surprisingly fun. At first I thought the two men going after the Obsidian Blade were hired by the Unnamed, but since that wasn’t the case, I think Crespular Vines hired them that so he could show up in time to save Omen and his friends. I think him opening up to Omen about being Skul’s former partner came too unprompted, too quickly and that he is trying to gain Omen’s trust so he can get close to Skul through him. I think another giveaway that that’s the case is bc one of the men Omen had to meet to get his brother back wore a Cleaver outfit and Vies gave that man probably the same reasoning Omen gave him.

That said Omen’s chapters were surprisingly enjoyable. By what I had heard of others I expected a sad sack that can’t fight worth a damn.

I’m not found of the Temper/Kierre stuff, it came out of nowhere.

Val is overpowered AF, it seems that she can get on Darquesses level with more practise/learning how to keep the doors open. She certainly needs to be nerfed.

Also I skipped the Darquesse chapters bc I’m giving negative fucks about her and the plague doctor.

The last 10% of the book were too rushed and felt like half finished thoughts.

Also I was kinda really bothered by the citizen of the Leibniz dimension. They were cartoonishly racist and it was very pretty black and white for the most part AKA everybody good is in the Resistance and all other sorcerers are evil/corrupt. That is also shown by there being children in the Resistance camp while there was no mention of children in the mage cities. In reality, most people are fairly mellow and it’s just a small percentage that is either really good or really wicked. I would have liked to see more racism towards mortals in form of apathy or ‘the soft bigotry of low expectations’ like I’ve seen it from Serpine in DotL. You know, make it a little less black and white.

Also, I understand the mermaids, but the bats in Europe were random AF. Like, I would understand it if they were just in Romania/Transylvania as a nod to the Dracula-typ vampire legends originating from there. As a plot-device they weren’t really needed to keep the protagonists from flying bc the danger of getting spotted by necromancer by doing so should be enough of a threat to keep them on the ground. This might seem nit-picky of me, but the bats just seemed so bloody random to me like wtf????

And also bc I’m a slut for magical creatures, I would have really liked to see more of them than just daugar and giant bats. Some undead cut together and resurrected necromancer experiments would have been pretty cool tbh. Like whatever the hell this is.

Something like zombie bears would have also been acceptable, I mean, bears are fucking terrifying on their own, let alone when undead and decaying.

I’m kinda pissed at China that she wanted Skul to kill Nef, but it does seem in character. Of course I still don’t like it bc I headcanon as Nef, Eliza and China having been besties during the war (no matter what canon says, I’m keeping that headcanon). I’m surprised Skul didn’t let Wreath have Nef considering that. Then again, he thought Nef might still be useful. And he was right. I loved how Nef actually had an essential part in saving the world by throwing the bomb. So proud of my boi <3 But Skul refused to kill him even after that. Could it be that Skul is finally getting character growth and development? 👀

Aaaand, China’s continuing to be a tyrant. With Tanith’s sense of justices flaring up shown when he killed the city governor, Erato, and Nef being shown to go after people that betray him (Lorien) I think those two are being set up to go after China to kill her (and to probably kill Creed too). Imagine Eliza joining the team bc she want a piece of China too.

I feel sorry for Baron, but at least he got a few speaking lines this time around. Still, I really wanted Nef to save him. :C Like, he suffered so much before he died too considering he spend a year alone starving and thirsty with broken legs in the middle of nowhere wft, why is Baron getting fucked over like this? #BaronDeservedBetter2020 he is the only honorable person of all faceless followers and he’s the one that gets screwed over in every book he shows up in, why tho- 😭

Speaking of Nef, I absolutely loved him in this book, he was a delight and stealing the show whenever he was on the page, despite being used as punching bag through pretty much the entire book. If people have always treated him that way I can see why he turned evil jfc that poor man. Despite that, he was still being such a clever, funny and relatable bae <3 He’s described as ‘cynical, and nasty but also kinda cheerful’ and as liking to ‘needle’ people (aka trolling and roasting) by Val and that essentially describes every shitposter on the internet ever. And I so loved the way he roasted Saracen lmao

And how he’s so clever, like the Lorien part was my favourite scene closely followed by how Nef essentially talked Remus Crux into getting himself killed, just 👌 smart snek boi, I love him <3 Also I hope he keeps poisoning everybody thoughts against Skul like how he had already been doing it to Tanith, he’s poison in human form and that’s just my jam.

That obedience bracelet was kinda fucked up tho.

Why does this thing even exist? Aren't electro shocks or any other form of pain enough instead of shutting his nervous system down/rendering him completely defenceless? I feel like some messed up mage 100% used it to keep himself (sex) slaves at some point in time :/ Landy might have gotten that idea from some fucked up hentai. Even the implications of the name "obedience bracelet".... I can’t be the only one that got creepy perv vibes from that thing, right?

Btw what the fuck happened to Harmony? You know, Leibniz Serpine’s girlfriend. She hasn’t been mentioned again. Did she die? She didn’t seem too found of him in DotL, was she plotting against him and he found out about it, killed her and fled the Resistance? Or did she die prior to him leaving and it was part of the reason he left bc she was the only thing that had tied him emotionally to the Resistance?? Or Landy just forgot she existed. I would not be surprised.

Of course my biggest issue with this book was how he retconned Nef’s magic and how he took his trademark, his red hand, away, but more about that in a different post.

TL;DR: Nef was a delight even though he was done dirty. Mev’s scenes were a 50/50 split between good and bad. I actually liked the Crespulare and Omen chapters. The Unnamed was a disappointment. The last 10% of the book were to rushed and the final fights that were supposed to be the biggest were underwhelming. The rest is meh, didn’t really care tbh. Let’s be real here, I only bought this book bc Nef played a bigger role in it, anyways.

at that point, the dark forest would’ve created 2-3 fake signs already that were “interpreted” by mothwing and that would’ve directly caused Something Bad to happen to the clans (nothing major, mothwing would not let the clan(s) be in any real danger, but enough to get some cats wondering why starclan keeps hurting them).

during part of power of three + especially omen of the stars, cloudtail (and mothwing, sometimes) would’ve been kinda insulting/complaining about things in relation to starclan (more than usual). just questioning little things in the system. getting cats uneasy, getting them to question the system as well. (this idea was NOT tigerstar’s. he was def like “we should kill someone and then blame it on starclan!” and every1 else was like “no u idiot” and someone like mapleshade suggested the starting with small things idea)

ANYWAYS blah blah blah. the dark forest attacks starclan in starclan territory

there are lots of little things that affect starclan negatively in the battle...

> living cats who just. couldn’t fuckin get to starclan cause they couldn’t fall asleep lol f

> mothwing and cloudtail’s supporters, who think that, yeah! the system does suck wtf starclan!

> those who were persuaded by the fake signs too

> trainees on dark forest’s side (which. remain the same... redwillow, breezepelt and possibly antpelt)

> the starclan rebels and their whole existence obv lol

alsooo some stuff that happens during the battle

> cats seeing kits in the dark forest and not wanting to fight them bc either a) they are still kits or b) they recognise them (like snowkit/tuft and mosskit/heart, for example)

> certain dark forest warriors refusing to attack living cats and only attacking starclan, which is Confusing to many

> mothwing and cloudtail straight up being like “they are DUMB DEAD CATS why are we fighting for them”

as the battle goes on, more n more cats stop fighting or switch sides.

just like in canon, ivypool faces hawkfrost, but he refuses to attack her. she’s a living cat, shes not the enemy. then, hollyleaf attacks him but this time its out of Genuine Fury rather than her protecting ivy. theres one of those overdramatic “kill me i dare u” scenes. hawk is probably just like tells her that even if she kills him she’ll still go to starclan after all ASHFUR is in starclan.

and bam boom chaos descends bc obviously, hollyleaf doesn’t think that ashfur deserves to be in starclan (shes right but whatever anyways). hollyleaf says he’s bullshitting but he swears he isn’t. hollyleaf and ivypool begin to doubt the system too now.

i.... don’t know what happens after this. HOWEVER i do know it would be Very Cool if firestar himself switches sides and he and tigerstar fight side by side, not enemies for once, and defeat starclan. but. im not sure how possible that idea is

cool cool cool so this story has a Happy Ending. starclan is defeated!!!!!! oh heck yes. they find the root of the problem and i’d like to say the og leaders are like gods or something and theyve been twisting this Evil plan from the beginning cause thats funkyyy but who knows what i’ll do? i dont

oh also. one last THING. since i headcanon that both the dark forest and starclan keep their wounds once they die (in different ways, tho, df is more gruesome), after stc is defeated, the dark forest cats’ wounds fade. like completely. theyre not longer the “”evil”” enemies of starclan, and theyre not... well, starclan cats, either. they become something else, something better, something good. so they dont have post-dead wounds anymore

that was a mess.

one day i will return with a better plot and more thought out ideas, i swear.

Loved reading your WTF inconsistencies but the biggest one in my opinion is how did Noor not see the gay bashing? She knows Robbe's gay, Britt must have told her about R & Sander, she saw R&S in the same room, both bruised. And yet she didn't connect the dots? Anyone with 2 braincells would have understood. Not her. Why? Because the screenwiters wanted her to say "being gay is no biggie in 2019", one day after Robbe was attacked. To write shit like this is so cruel it's unbelieveable.

ty! hmm well idk if i can fault her for not immediately jumping to the GAY BASHING conclusion, it’s quite an extreme assumption to make. did she even realize robbe was bruised? it’s pretty noticeable on sander, but all robbe has is a bandaid near his eye, it was dark inside the party, he’s wearing a hoodie….maybe she didn’t even notice it. how does she even know robbe is gay? in og we know even told sojna about isak, and she porbably told emma. but idr sander ever saying he told britt about robbe? all he said was ‘yeah i told her’, so idt it was wrong to assume he just broke up with her w/o bringing up robbe (like robbe did with noor), bc why should he? it’s not like even and sonja who were together for so many years and went through sm together that 1. even probably felt like he owed her a real and proper explanation, but also to make sure she understood his decision was serious and final (he’s not being flakey! he’s legit in love with someone else!) 2. sonja surely picked up on something b/w them, especially after they both disappeared on her and emma together….. idk i guess we’re supposed to assume sander told britt about robbe, and she told noor, and then noor confronted robbe about it, but the whole thing is kinda wonky overall. also!!! how did jens find out about robbe getting beaten up anyway?? he texted robbe ‘damn what did i hear? are you alright?’ but WHO TOLD HIM (zoe? senne? they told someone else and they told him? HOW DOES HE KNOW)

as you can see, there’s a lot i’m kinda ‘huh? ok???’ about when it comes to wtfock, i think at some point you just gotta take w/e you get and just roll with it otherwise things won’t make any sense. i still don’t really blame noor for not connecting the dots (especially since i have no idea what she knows! what britt told her! what britt knows! I KNOW NOTHING) and not immediately thinking GAY BASHING, tho at the same time i do wonder if anyone is gonna notice that both robbe and sander are both hurt and go 'hmmmm….weird! everyone’s getting into fights these days huh!’ (probably not the boy squad tho, unless it has boobs they won’t notice it). and whether or not she should’ve realized what had happened, it’s just a really shitty thing to have someone say THAT quote to him the day after he was attacked, and it’s obvious the writers did that for MAXIMUM PAIN (i’m sure some people will say it’s to show how unaware belgians are to the dangers of homophobia - how can noor say that when he was *just* attacked the day before?? people are clueless! - but i feel like people give the writers waaaay too much credit. and either way, if they wanted to do that scene, they could’ve at least waited a few days, their point would’ve still been made)

RAGUNA’S RELATIONSHIP AND INTERACTIONS WITH SELPHY ARE SO PURE AND GOOD. selphy has really low self esteem and sort of (unintentionally) has a super low opinion of herself in general bc she knows she’s really ditzy and spacey… raguna really helps lift her up because he’s such a good person. i can imagine if she’s ever putting herself down too much, he’d be the type of person to either gently call her out on it and remind her she has a lot of good character traits or jokingly meet her in the middle and be like “well ur spacey sure but have u seen how ____ i am.” raguna softly helping her raise her confidence… bless

raguna would probably get stood up a lot by her… i’m sobbing… not in the “she intentionally did not meet me when we planned to meet way” but rather in the “oh my god selphy hasn’t eaten or slept in 3 days and she’s literally passed out in the middle of a forest under a tree again time to go scour the area and make sure she’s okay” way KJNHKJHNM i can imagine she’d actually spook him a lot because she takes such … bad care of herself … can’t even take her on adventures because halfway through the cave she’ll keel over and it’s like “SELPHY WTF” “i’m sorry raguna i just realized i have not had a sip of water in 2 days haha it be like that”

honestly tfw the local librarian’s life is in more danger from herself than urs is from monsters, i can see her probably pushing raguna to the point of having to be quite stern sometimes over her putting reading before taking care of herself

selphy thinks about other people more than herself tho so she’d absolutely be a worry-wart over raguna even from the moment they’ve just newly become friends. catch her occasionally sending him care kits full of herbs or materials he needs, medicine, etc, so he can take care of himself if he gets hurt.

she’d also try to give him a good luck protection charm at some point and it’d probably be handmade and also the ugliest thing he’s ever seen in his life but raguna is a good boy so u know he’d take it anyways jknmKJNM

despite everything selphy is extremely intelligent because of all her reading, though. there are times she reads very serious books & gathers info from them, so any time he needs ??? help ??? learning something new about the area or monsters or whatever he doesn’t even need to ask he can just barge into the library like “HEY,,”

selphy being a runaway princess tho i’m sobbing …. she wouldn’t really… ever bring that up until the two of them are extremely close, about how her country is in an uproar because she YEETED out of there and how she doesn’t trust knights or people who “treat her like a princess” …. and that’s why she likes raguna bc… he always just treated her like a person

selphy is??? super extra??? and loves communicating serious things via very fancy handwritten letters? any time she has something of major importance to tell raguna she’d totally send him a letter… and want him to respond back via letter… her literally just stopping anette each morning like “haha take this to raguna thanks!” game mechanics aside on an expressly #romantic note if feelings were ever confessed, it would mean more to her written on paper and u could bet the moment one of them sent that letter the other would probably come running and bust down their door to then Verbally Discuss It KJHNMKHJNM

she’s tol at 5′9″ she can look u directly in the eyes raguna … if she wears heels that day she’ll end up slightly taller than him so u better be ready to stand on some stairs buddy

the real danger to their relationship would be her passing out while reading in the bath and drowning. inb4 raguna begs melody to keep an eye on her any time she’s at the bathhouse 😂

SOFIA & RAGUNA

OH GOD FIRST IMPRESSIONS WITH SOFIA ARE ALWAYS…. they’re special. i feel like raguna would probably catch on a lot quicker than most, though. he seems like one of the few people who wouldn’t need it explained to him, he’d just pick up on it early on?? bc sofia’s expressions and actions never match how cruel her words are and raguna generally sees the best in people, so he’d likely be perceptive enough to notice that and be like “????????? are you speaking in opposites wtf weird but okay!”

that being said WOW SOFIA WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO REACT TO RAGUNA AT FIRST because people “getting her” and being kind towards her (or, at least, accepting her as she is without making it weird, rather) is something she’s never really experienced. she would think he’s super weird and just messing with her… which would foster the doubt in the back of her mind that he actually hates her and is just being nice bc he’s nice to everyone, which is something he’d have to convince her she’s wrong about

after she adjusts to him though she’d love tagging along with him on adventures and would always be up for helping him out any time he leaves town, whether it be to just gather materials or battle monsters.

sofia doesn’t have many friends in the sense that she feels she annoys most people, so raguna being as sweet & outgoing as he is would catch her off guard most times … even small gestures of friendship fluster her because she doesn’t know what to make of it. hanging out with her would definitely feel special even if they’re doing something stupid, because just seeing him ??? would brighten her day ??? like she can’t believe someone as great as him would want to spend time with a liar like her

she will gift him garbage. it will be the worst gifts he ever gets, but she will hope he likes it… if he actually keeps any of it and she visits his house or anything and sees it, she will absolutely get teary eyed.

she will also absolutely keep anything he gifts her and display it in her room bc “raguna is (not special at all) and she (will always immediately throw away any useless give he gives her)”

she would have some insecurities ofc… she already thinks that the way she speaks causes people to dislike her, so even after convincing her that he doesn’t hate her, whether it be a strong friendship or romance that blossomed between them, he’d have to let her know that he’s okay with who she is. she’d undoubtedly go through a period of time where she tries to change herself to speak normally, then psyche herself out doing it. that scene where she says “i love you!” normally and the protag thinks she’s saying she hates him is canon no matter the relationship, #growingpains KJNHMKHJNM

but also eventually if raguna ever told her he loves her (either platonically or romantically, she’s struck through the kokoro by both) she’ll cry. a lot. but like happy cry. bonus points she’d cling to him if he threw in a point that he likes her BECAUSE of who she is

she’s literally never even held a hand before tbh so if their hands even accidentally brushed against each other she’d get so flustered raguna might have to worry she’s going to die

she’s only 5′0″, if raguna wants to kiss or hug or whatever, he’s either got to lean all the way hecking down or lift her up and that’s aesthetic

bonus romance exclusive concept : raguna having to slowly work his way up to showing his affection bc she’s so shy. first he has to just link pinkies with her. then eventually he can hold her hand. then lace their fingers. then link their arms. then he can kiss her knuckles. then her hand, then her cheek, etc, etc… he has to take Smol Steps and it’s cute.

shana’s thoughts on the dragon prince

now, i did like it overall, but there are a bunch of negative opinions i have about the show, so if you don’t want to read someone saying mean things about your new favorite show, that’s totally fair! but then this post isn’t for you

i’m putting this under a cut, and if the cut doesn’t work bc you’re on mobile ... scroll really fast? i can’t help you.

1. first and foremost, what the FUCK was that frame rate?? i’m sorry, i’ve seen smoother motion in early 2000s video games. that was literally painful to watch at times. i get they’re trying to save money, but please ... the two different animation styles are distracting enough, especially what the people are animated to be so flat. the animation, while beautiful in parts, is definitely not the strongest part of the show, but could be infinitely improved by a higher fps

2. so many “jokes” that just aren’t funny. they’re trying for everyone to be wry and it actually very rarely works. or even when the line is funny, it disrupts the flow of the story. “say hello to my little friend” as the trigger word for bait completely took me out of the story, but they didn’t even keep it as a trigger phrase, so it was pointless. rayla pausing to say goodbye to the ground before climbing the tree could have been very funny - but she paused!! people are in danger, this is time sensitive, why are you stopping to say something funny to no one? this thing in particular happened multiple times, where the line was funny, the delivery was funny, but the way everything stops so they can say the funny thing ruins it. i’m certain people can walk and talk at the same time, so let them.

3. holy shit there’s so much exposition. like straight up, that whole intro scene? worthless. everything gets covered again later on. it defs shouldn’t have been more than 30 seconds. there’s a lot of explainy moments where characters talk about things they should already know. there are also lots of clever moments where information is conveyed deftly and well, so more of that, less hitting the audience over the head with it. i found the first 2 episodes to be pretty boring because of this, and it wasn’t until 3 episodes in i was like, oh good, something interesting is happening. because of the long explanation in the beginning, the opening scene of reyla sparing the guard had less weight for me, because i was still trying to figure out what the fuck was going on, instead of accepting a fairly straightforward scene between rayla and the guard that would have been a fantastic starting point for the show

4. on a similar note, please some exposition about how magic works. what are its rules, its limits, how does it work?? we know about the six sources of magic, but that’s pretty much it. there’s laughably little information about how the rules of magic work in this world, and because nothing is ever explained, we have no idea how impressive something is, or what the stakes are, and its very frustrating

5. there was an awful lot of hype for how moon shadow elves were unstoppable only for them to be ... kind of invisible and really strong and fast? but like clearly very stoppable.

6. lots of “plot twists” were incredibly obvious, but this is a kids show, so i’ll let that one slide. but it does mean that as an adult viewer i’m less surprised by a big reveal than i am just waiting for it to happen so something else can happen

7. ezran’s animal speaking came out of almost nowhere, and it definitely should have come up like, 4 episodes in, not in the last episode when convenient. wtf. also, like, if this is a thing the king can do too, which would make sense with his bird and all, why is it a secret? why didn’t ezran just find a better way to prove it to callum before this whole thing started, instead of oh i tried with the raccoons now i’m done? his brother clearly listens to him at least sometimes.

8. rayla’s hand. oh my fucking god, her hand. she should have lost it you cowards. the line about her not understanding sacrifice in the beginning, having to take responsibility for bad decisions like the king said, the whole subplot with the giant wolf only having three legs and how he was just fine that way, literally like ten minutes before. and absolutely no mention about dragons being able to bite away the binding, or about royalty being able to break the binding. just oh good the dragon has bitten the binding off in the last two minutes of the show, all that set up and overarching themes we set up? pointless and worthless.

now for thing i like

1. the characters are genuinely likable and multi dimensional (excluding viren who’s pretty cookie cutter). they all have flaws and doubts and are all badasses in their own way. it’s 100% how i like to see characters written, and so rarely do, and it’s absolute pleasure that this show is full of them. it makes all the things i dislike about it so much easier to swallow

2. callum and his conflicted relationship about being in the palace and being the step prince are so incredibly obvious and real and wonderful, and i can already tell i’m going to write a fic, because it was done so well and i adore it. his conversation with the king was a masterpiece. definitely a high point of the show

3. callum’s relationship with ezran is so pure and loving and good. he loves his little brother so much, with no bitterness or resentment or anything at all. he just loves him. and he gets irritated by him, because they’re brothers, but it’s clearly a very good relationship.

4. claudia and soren get the runner up for best sibling relationship. they also clearly care about each other and get on each others nerves and make fun of each other.

5. soren is surprise fave. he’s a big dumb idiot who’s kind of a jerk but i love him. like one second he’s making fun of callum for being a step prince, and the next he’s pretending to get beaten by him so callum can impress his sister. it would have been so easy for him to make fun of callum instead, or to humiliate him for his crush on claudia, but instead he’s like “yeah i’ll help you look cool in front of my sister, even though you ruined my fun and didn’t let her walk into a tree” he’s dumb and a jerk and a good person. he’s great.

6. reyla’s internal struggle and her relationship with runaan is fantastic, and i wish we’d gotten to see more of it. she’s trying so hard all the time to do the right thing and make everyone proud and i love it.

7. amaya is fucking iconic. “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” i love her. shes’s amazing and wonderful in every way. also the way she refuses to take the throne is badass.

8. the show is clearly trying so hard to be diverse and inclusive, and it really is like a breath of fresh air to see. there’s so much obvious care going on here, and the clear love in which all of it was done is another thing that blunts the edges of the many things i dislike about the show.

9. the landscape and background animation is very well done, and often beautiful.

look, i watched the whole first season in one sitting when i wasn’t planning to, so obviously it’s a net positive. i liked, i’ll watch a second season, but there are things which i really dislike about the show, and to be completely honest, if the characters weren’t written so incredibly well, i would probably drop it. but they are, and while there are other, smaller things about the show that make it good, the well written characters alone make it worth watching

Zi-O 16 is SUBBED???...

... WOW. O-T was faster than usual. Maybe they had time off for Christmas and just wanted to get it done? You really didn’t have to do this guys, but thank you so much!

Anyway, below as usual. I make no claims about length bc I always seem to get it wrong...

No order:

OH MY GOD. Geiz used his name! When he says he’s giving up on being king, Geiz’s response is a surprised ‘Sougo...?’ And he doesn’t even really sound happy? Like, I think that part of him was like ‘yes this dream turns out badly for everyone,’ but the part that was getting fond of Sougo was also aware of how much the dream meant to nice¡Sougo... Like, he sounds sorta big brotherly concerned... Careful, Geiz, your feelings are showing.

These three are shaping up to be a ‘I don’t care how their relationship is defined that just need to stay together’ group for me. Honestly, I do have a lot of those in Toku, but I really love these three, and I hope they don’t have to end up separated.

I also have this theory that the Time Mazines (gonna spell it different every post! ^^) and Ziku Drivers somehow make you immune to the ripple effect? Bc otherwise it’s too painful to consider that one day, when they finally manage to succeed in preventing the badness, that Geiz and Tsukuyomi are going to permanently forget Sougo, bc in the new future they’d have no reason to know him... Or... If they get retconned... Oh god, if Sougo found out changing it would mean sacrificing his friends (I use the word ‘friends’ bc it’s a general term for people one has bonded w/)... Like, there’d be versions of them, but not the ones he knew... He’d still do it to save the world, but the ANGST! I LOVE IT! (provided it got fixed? bc I’m a wuss who loves only happy endings) Though that probably won’t happen bc it was Build’s finale, so it’s WAY too soon to be reusing it.

Also, in the scene before he throws the Driver? LOOK AT HIS HAND. The poor boy is clutching that thing so hard, his knuckles are white and his hand is shaking. Sougo.exe has stopped working.

Also, saw the hesitation on Geiz’s part, too. Oh, you poor children. Your emotions are all messed up.

Seriously, for gods’ sakes, you are all CHILDREN you shouldn’t be going through this!

Still. If we’d completely changed the past, I would have expected the robots to just vanish like Puma Zi-O and his box did (WHY WERE YOU SITTING IN A BOX IN AN EMPTY FIELD PUMA ZI-O I FEEL LIKE THERE ARE BETTER PLACES FOR YOU TO SIT!)

Also, I kinda of the opinion that Geiz has the Ex-Aid Watch bc he ran back to the clock shop after ditching Woz and Tsukasa and grabbed all the Watches still there.

I am also on the ‘let Geiz win something please’ train, but I’m pretty sure Sougo was teasing him. I feel like their gonna be those two who always seem to argue, w/ Sougo being a little troll and Geiz falling for it and getting mad every time (bc you know he will, he’s too straight-laced not to! god, the poor boy is such an easy mark to tease!), but in the end, they’ll beat the hell out of anyone else who tries to mess with the other. And then Tsukuyomi’s just like ‘yeah, these are my idiots, and if you mess with them, I’ll shoot you in the face and kick your shins out.’

Like, if we use family dynamics... Geiz is the grumpy, serious big brother who constantly gets teased by his trollish little brother, which Sougo, and then poor Tsukuyomi’s the only sane sibling in the house.

Honestly, though, Geiz is such a pure and adorable tsundere, I’m not sure I could resist teasing him a little.

Junichiro here w/ the weirdly specific foreshadowing. You know what, someone else theorised that maybe he’s an alternate version of Sougo that came back to do something, so now I feel validated in that thought. My hope is that, if true, he’s from a bad future and is trying to guide his younger self toward a better future. But that may just be my desperate search for good father figures in KR. (Director Kagami, Shouichi, we salute you, gentlemen)

Speaking of fathers, it seems it’s ‘bring your son to work day’ this time w/ the Time Jackets. Also, Swartz do you... Do you have to do that to reanimate the robot? Couldn’t you... I dunno... Do something else?

Also Sougo looked so sad when he commented that Geiz and Tsukuyomi weren’t coming back. Poor baby. It’s okay, it’s only episode 16. We got a while to go.

Geiz, not acting very committed to leaving... Seriously, though, did it really take you this long to get to the Time Mazines? Sougo got all the way home, then left home, went to the grocery store, and started back. I feel like that was plenty of time. I think you two were stalling.

Also, Uhr/Heuhre I saw that pepper hit the ground, please wipe it off, honey, you’re gonna get sick.

Also, Woz shaking his head at the belt like it’s part of the discussion. ‘Can you believe him right now?’ And the belt’s just like ‘yeah, I know, right?’

Careful, Geiz. Looking slightly concerned there. Seriously, though. They could have just left. They have no reason to think this would effect the future much at this point. Or hell, Geiz could have just left. But no, w’re gonna get out and rush back over w/ Tsukuyomi for... Reasons.

Sougo’s like ‘no belts here, WE DIE LIKE MEN!’

Woz is a terrible security guard and Uhr/Heuhre is an excellent thief.

Oh, god, I missed that before. Geiz literally yells for Sougo to dodge (and then later Sougo is still surprised they’re there--Sougo, who did you think yelled that?). And then when Sougo doesn’t, he’s legit upset and throws the sign. Oh, baby, you are so hopeless. He literally does not actually want Sougo to die if he can help it.

Geiz and Tsukuyomi are both like ‘ugh this goddamn noble idiot unfortunately we kind of love him.’

Okay... Since we’re saying ‘subjects’ again, I’m gonna wax random about something... I think I mentioned somewhere before that I don’t think ‘king’ is gonna end up necessarily meaning ‘someone who rules’ exactly. This was kind enforced by how I interpreted what Junichiro said earlier? Now, this is just my interpretation, so I can’t say anything for sure, but he said that he wanted to work for a famous clock company, and he didn’t follow that, but now he owns his own store, so in a way, his dream did come true (was pretty much the gist, I think). So, like, the point being, dreams don’t always come true in exactly the way you expect or imagine. ‘King’ can be a nickname. It can be used on a smaller level than ‘the world.’ I, for instance, could be called ‘King of the sticky-note cranes.’ The fact is, there’s multiple ways to interpret what a ‘king’ is, I’m thinking that might come into play somehow. Or... I’m just overthinking everything after Build. Get me started on the ‘that Driver’ subject...

Okay, but, Geiz was already ready to transform. When we cut back to him, he’s got the Driver and his Ride Watch up already. He was already gonna go help. Oh, my baby.

Also, I’m sorry, sweetie, but your henshin looks really silly while running. At least your clothes were pretty presentable this ep.

And, like I said, Sougo is surprised. Also, Geiz is mad about him putting himself in danger, they’re so cute! But seriously, wtf Sougo. How did you not hear his voice earlier? And what, did you think the sign threw itself?

Sougo is like ‘holy crap you do actually like me.’

Also Tsukasa hoping around like some longe-legged pink frog.

So, we now know Tsukasa definitely has his own plan, but I’m still believing that he’s trickster mentoring it and his end goal is a good one.

I feel like Geiz could handle Kisshan, though it would probably be a rough fight. I think at this point he could probably hold his own against Tsukasa for a bit (not win yet, though--it’s a bloody ten year experience gap, and Geiz is just eighteen)? But he definitely can’t handle both of them at once alone.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone is expecting Tsukasa to be predictably on a side...

I love Ora/Hora just sitting down on a bucket in the background.

Sougo and Tsukuyomi are like ‘No! Our grumpy tsundere!’

Okay, how long has Uhr/Heuhre had that Driver? Now I’m worried they did something to it.

Love how Tsukuyomi just ducks out of the way and abandons Sougo his fate. Actually, it’s probably bc she assumed he’d duck, too. XD

Tsukuyomi’s just like ‘my boys are idiots I’ll deal with this! Follow me!’ Seriously, when we see her later, she seems no worse for wear. Not a scratch or mud on her clothes or anything. She was able to keep him busy just fine, though I can understand the FaizPhone might not pack enough power to actually take him out. Hey, Toei, please let her transform. The Zi-Ot3 would be unstoppable! Well, some of the time. When they could focus. ^^

Geiz is like, ‘aw, crap, we need numbers. Shit.’

Sougo’s like ‘okay, A) didn't you use my name earlier? and B) have you lost your mind?’

Geez, you two. Stare more dramatically into each others’ eyes. Real secondary and primary drama here.

I joke, but I love this. Sougo knows he can trust Geiz, bc Geiz is incapable of being anything other than who he is, which is unbendingly honest, honourable, and incredibly steadfast. He’s like Keiichiro. Probably couldn’t lie if his life depended on it (though maybe if other people’s did), doesn’t understand deception, easy to manipulate bc he’s so straightforward. He’s incredibly trustworthy. And Geiz is starting to trust Sougo, too. I do love the idea of the trio making their own ‘side’ in all of this. Like, before, Woz said that Tsukuyomi and Geiz weren’t on Sougo’s side and he was, and at the time that was true about those two. But now, it’s become clear that Woz is on Puma Zi-O’s side, not actually Tokiwa Sougo’s side, and Geiz and Tsukuyomi are shaping up to be the ones who are on Sougo’s actual side--as in, the Sougo in question, to whom Woz was speaking at the time (whose side Woz is certainly not on). God, here I am repeating my fanfic now. But I liked the way I explained it there! And maybe someone didn’t read it or something...

Of course, whether Geiz is actually gonna have the will to keep that promise... Hee hee... Sorry, I have this really depressing thing involving promises w/ these three.

But seriously, though, this is so nostalgic. Let’s stare intensely at each other some more!

Gotta be honest. Regrettably... I love it. I’m so sorry. I love it. I love the goofy glow-in-the-dark. I love the clunky, plastic kid-watch look. I love this mess so much.

Preview: Kanji became a Kamen Rider using a magic silver gold, and decided to change his look to purple rather than gold (it’ll be hilarious if the character is literally Kinji I would love it--at least have him speak bad english!). As for New Woz... Don’t talk to me about New Woz. New Woz has confused Firebird.exe so badly it has stopped functioning. But the fact that he’s got a new-fangled future book and Woz has a normal book is funny. Also, the shots w/ Geiz and Sougo in the back, looking on like ‘WTF?????’

Virtual orange chocolate if you read this far (love that stuff some of the only chocolate I’ll eat dark). I LOVE reluctant friendship and dramatic stare downs and trust and... I love the Zi-Ot3, okay. I love it. Excited to see Kinji again, confused as hell in regards to Woz and Woz, curious what Tsukasa’s goal is (also Jinga is over now, right, so he doesn’t have to run back and forth... That’s probably why they waited ‘til now so he’d be done filming Jinga). Also curious to see more of the Time Jackets--aka grumpy time murder fam that hates each other.

here are my thoughts/reactions to this weeks episode that no one asked for, which will include spoilers (obviously) so i’m putting them under the cut. i’ve already watched the episode so these aren’t my first reactions technically but they’ll be the same.

caution: i’m not a fan of jughead or the core four. so i’ll be poking fun/getting annoyed at them.

- why did betty not go straight to alice with the dna test? why would she give chic, who she thinks is capable of hurting her, the opportunity to last out at her? i also still don’t get why she didn’t just get a normal dna test. like you’re a journalist, get the full truth, not just some of it

- i fucking called it!! why do ya think hal wanted nothing to do with chic? remember when he said “you’re letting this stranger into our house”? he wouldn’t call his own son a stranger

- fp is the dad and that’s the facts (that wouldn’t make bughead wrong don’t even try to defend that)

- chic is such a good creep IM LIVING FOR IT

- if it wasn’t a for-profit prison it wouldn’t be the worst idea. but it is so :///

- southside high was falling apart at the seems. the old students were aware of that and were plenty happy to go away! yes the lodge’s had other intentions with shutting down the school, but overall it was a good thing. there’s other, more valid reasons to not like the prisons that aren’t being talked about!!

- lol we know that veronica running for stuco wouldn’t end up well

- fred getting more screen time <333 (even if i don’t totally agree with him)

- does everybody at this school watch the same tv shows how is jughead quoting scandal (which i had to google) universally understood? i’m actually a sophomore and my friends and i quote vines.

- why isn’t ronnie defending herself? she gave that look to archie so he could defend her. where did kick ass veronica i don’t take no shit’ lodge go??

- ‘hunger strike for southside high’ BOI

- ‘for it to re-open’ i had to pause this when i first watched this scene. he went there for like 2 weeks. toni was his only true friend for the majority of it. he didn’t like the idea of it and didn’t like what he had to do to survive there. the other students were happy with it closing!! why you gotta be so extra?? and if he really wants to get out of riverdale to be a writer he shouldn’t be trying to go back to a school that had teachers who gave up hope on their students

- ew ethel (i was eh with her all together but i’m still >:( over how she got mad at veronica for what hiram did to her father. veronica was one of the only people who was comforting her and tried to make amends. we can’t forget that when that all was going down veronica didn’t like her dad)

- WHY ARE KEVIN AND JOSIE SITTING ALONE

- wait jk i remembered

- HAHAHA ok i’m josie (don’t get me wrong i like veronica and is the only tolerable lead for me atm but that slushie thing is really funny. it was sorta uncalled for, but she is working with her father soz)

- props to veronica for being the bigger person in this scenario

- lol at least veronica kept her cool for a little bit (go her btw)

- power to veronica for wanting to run but this isn’t gonna end well

- TONI’S HOT & even if her audition flopped cheryl still would’ve made her member #lovemybabies

- tbh i didn’t like the lodges being the main plot point and i’d still prefer for the serpents to get more screentime than them BUT this is getting interesting

- i want to see other south siders fighting for this why does jughead get to be the leader of this revolution (that i’m here for!! except for the school thing bc it doesn’t make sense)

- y’all have been having friendship problems since the ms. gr**** thing i think the trains have been getting closer than you think jug

- kevin had the right to tell chic, she was the one who forced him into the poorly planned catfishing (like seriously - she shouldn’t have been there and they shouldn’t have done it at a school). kevin has barely got any good storylines that actually continue and i’m so damn happy that he’s sticking up for himself. betty only reaches out to him when she needs help.

- betty talking about her darkness and saying ‘darkness’ in general is the most cringey thing ever. she has some sort of mental illness. i don’t know what but they shouldn’t have taken this ‘darkness inside of me’ approach.

- i wish V tried to become josie’s friend before asking her for an endorsement. actually, i wish the show resolved their friendship ages ago. they’re the one of the few WOC and overall i’m tired of girl x girl friendships being ruined like this

- it’s got so bad that veronica had to bribe josie to endorse her. i know this isn’t gonna go well

- sweet pea looking like an out of focus snack <333

- DRAG HIM JUGHEAD (lol you can tell how much i don’t like archie being up hiram’s ass that i’m praising jughead)

you took in seokjins words and thought for a moment

“maybe he didn’t. not voluntarily” you guessed as you ran into his bedroom

the two boys followed suit behind you as you kneeled in front of taehyungs bed and started to rummage around under the mattress

“what are you doing?” hoseok asked

“i’m trying to find his pocket knife. he never leaves anywhere without it”

“how do you know?”

“seokjin, with all respect he’s my damn partner”

hoseok and seokjin looked at each other, then helped you lift up the mattress so you could search better

disappointment, fear and worry all together took over you as your hand came in contact with a familiar object

you pulled out taehyungs pocket knife and looked back at hoseok and seokjin

now, your gut was screaming “he’s been fucking kidnapped”

…

an emergency meeting took place

as everyone gathered in the meeting room and namjoon began the meeting with taehyungs seat empty, everyone caught on

you were hella stressed

your leg kept bouncing up and down and you couldn’t sit still

you were feeling nauseous and it was hard to focus on anything else except the fact that taehyung could potentially be kidnapped

seokjin explained the situation carefully, not confirming any theories, he just brought the possible options to the table

but you were convinced he was taken against his will

“(Y/N) proposed he was kidnapped due to his pocket knife also being under his bed, saying he never leaves without it. i believe it is possible if we’re looking at the big picture”

you couldn’t pay much attention to the conversation, all you knew they were discussing possible options and how to proceed from here

instead, you were thinking of the worst case scenario and actually planning on what you were going to do to get him back

as the arguing kept on going and going, you grew impatient

“with all due respect, can we move on to actually plan a rescue mission? there is no time for theories that don’t matter. our member is in danger and we’re doing nothing to help him.”

everyone went silent and stared at you

namjoon opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out

you stared back at him with pleading eyes, hoping your words helped him realize the seriousness of the situation

“(Y/N), i get that you’re upset, but we cannot act on something that isn’t 100% proven to be the truth, especially at times like this. if we act without consent, we could all be in danger instead of just one member. we’re trying our best here to save him, i want you to understand that”

you let out a shaky sigh

and you knew damn well he was just looking after everyone

but you couldn’t help but feel even more anxious

you drifted back to your own thoughts

but now you felt someones eyes on you

you dared to look up to find the culprit, ready to send them glares

but once your eyes landed on min yoongis

and instead of judgement or pity

you found something else in his eyes

he was staring at you thoughtfully

as if he was considering something

suddenly seokjins phone started ringing

as he brought his phone from his pocket to silence it, his eyebrows furrowed once he saw the screen

“it’s a private number. this is my work phone, no one should have my number”

everyones eyes were on him now

namjoon suggested he answered it, but cautiously

jin did as asked answering the call with a simple hello

as he put the phone on speaker, everyone started intently listening to whoever was on the other side

your eyes widened in fear once you heard a deep male voice speak

“have you discovered your missing member yet?”

seokjin looked at namjoon for help, he only nodded for him to reply truthfully

“yes, we have”

the voice chuckled

“i thought so”

at that moment hoseok hastily drew out his laptop, quickly typing something on it

you figured he was starting to track down the caller

“who are you?” seokjin asked the caller

“we want to propose a deal with you. a chance for you to have your beloved member back”

“and what would that be?”

“hand over your territory and we shall return him alive, you have two hours to decide before we kill him”

your eyes were going from hoseok to seokjin, not being able to decide which one to focus on

hoseok was still typing like a maniac, his eyes searching the screen

“they’re hiding their identity well. I might not make it in time” hoseok whispered to namjoon

“how do we know you have him?” seokjin swiftly asked them, staring at his watch

some mumbling could be heard from the phone and you picked up they were speaking japanese

suddenly someone was coughing on the phone

“let them know you’re alive” the deep man commanded someone

silence took over for a few seconds, everyone anticipating if they were going to speak

“time’s running out” hoseok whispered again “you have to end the call in 10 seconds”

you stared at the phone, as if daring it to say something, anything

“don’t send (Y/N)”

a playful chuckle could be heard from him following his sentence

as if he was mocking his kidnappers?

you immediately recognized the voice

it was him

and he dared to ask y’all not to send you that puNK—

even though he was kidnapped you had the urge to roll your eyes

shouting could be heard from the line, until hoseok frantically signaled seokjin to end the phone call

he quickly did as told

then smashed the phone to the ground, stepping on it (so no one could track him down)

you were relieved he was alive

but now you were even more determined to find him

and you had a pretty good idea of where he could be

so instead of wasting your time and staying to listen what everyone had to say

you dashed out of the room without a word

you ran to your apartment like damn Usain Bolt

went to grab your favorite handgun and some ammo

your hands were shaking but you didn’t give a shit

you worked better when there was adrenaline running in your system anyways

next you ran to pick up your jacket

just as someone walked into your apartment

“yoongi?”

“i’m coming with you, let’s go”

you were a bit confused, but didn’t question him, just followed as he lead you to a car

he sat on the drivers side and you on the passenger side

he started the car and looked at you for further instructions

you quickly told him the location you were suspecting

“how sure are you?”

“pretty damn sure”

and without further ado, he sped off the parking lot

on the way he turned the radio down to talk to you better

“how’d you figure out where he is?”

you bit your tongue and hesitated before answering

“i thought I heard them speak japanese in the background”

“and?”

“and i remember back when i was still a trainee, i did some research. there was only one gang i found information of that had japanese connections. the boss has a japanese wife. the wife was allegedly working with a japanese mafia, so i only figured these two gangs would unite due to the marriage. they probably have japanese men in their gang, even if it’s not confirmed, it’s as good of a lead as one can get.”

yoongi chuckled at your theory, making you think he was making fun of you

“what?”

“nothing. it’s just impressive how fast you figure things out. you don’t waste any time and go with your gut. i can admire that. I’m like that too. it gets things done.”

all you could do was stare at him

you were at a loss of words

the person you admired for his skills was basically saying he admires you

before you could even think of what to respond, yoongis phone rang in his pocket

he took it out and answered the call, putting it on speaker

“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU HYUNG???? DID YOU GO WITH (Y/N)???? YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO STOP HER FROM DOING ANYTHING STUPID NOT DO IT WITH HER!!!!”

you two were immediately fricken attACKED by hoseoks screaming

“i’m doing exactly that. instead of doing something stupid, we’re on our way to rescue Taehyung the Damsel in Distress”

“(Y/N)??? ARE YOU THERE CAN YOU HEAR ME DO NOT GO ON YOUR OWN IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS I’M-”

“hobie relax, we aren’t going unarmed” you tried to calm him down

“DO yoU EVen hAVE a plAN??? WHat arE YOu GOIng TO DO wheN YOu geT THERe????”

you stopped for a moment

and realized you had no fucking idea

“we’ll figure it out” yoongi responded

“oh yeah that’s really comforting” hoseok sarcastically remarked

you thought for a moment

“hoseok, we can trust you, right?”

“what is that supposed to mean of course you can”

“i mean can we trust you to not tell the others what i’m about to ask you”

“…i don’t like the sound of that”

“could you assist us from there? help us navigate through the building?”

“(Y/N) idk, you’re asking me to approve and agree to your rebellious non existing plan”

“please hoseok, i need you to trust us too. we know what we’re doing.”

a sigh could be heard from hoseoks end of the line

you were crossing your fingers, hoping you convinced him

“ughhh, fine!”

you told him the address you were heading towards

hoseok quickly got hold of a few security cameras in the building by hacking, but there weren’t many, letting him believe there were none wherever they were holding taehyung

that is if they even were holding him

it was better than nothing however

yoongi soon parked the car near the location and you two got out of the car, walking over to the trunk

you picked up earpieces that were connected to hoseok for the both of you

yoongi grabbed a few weapons for himself as well, throwing some extra ammo your way

hoseok then guided you to a back entrance, where you once again had to pick a lock to get in

thankfully you still had a few bobby pins keeping your hair in place (+ the strong hair ties taehyung bought you)

the first room you got in was empty, thankfully, making it easier for you and yoongi to advance

the two of you sneakily killed a few guards patrolling the hallways

although you noticed yoongi wasn’t too keen on teamwork, rather working independently

and he seemed to be expecting the same from you, which was fine tbh

but you couldn’t help but feel like something was missing

it was nice to have someone there to support you

to know your partner 100% had your back

you had no doubts yoongi wouldn’t let anything happen to you

but it wasn’t the same

and you knew damn well it was the man you were rescuing and his witty comments

so far it had been easy enough

the security cameras were telling hoseok exactly how many men you were going to face

the only problem was that you had no idea where they were keeping him

in your heart you knew he was close, so you kept going

you were going to search every little corner if you had to

“-maybe they’re keeping hostages in the basement? that would make sense right? there are two guards near what seems like an entrance to the basement, there are no cameras there however”

“lead us there”

howevER

before hoseok or anyone could say anything

loud ass gunshots could be heard from a distance away, but somewhere inside the building

you and yoongi stopped dead, trying to listen to where it was coming from

“hoseok, what is that?”

“ummm i don’t know it’s coming from an area with no cameras”

you and yoongi looked at each other

“he’s getting awa-”

you both broke into a sprint towards the shouting

“i think it’s coming from where i thought the entrance to the basement is” hoseok guided through the earpiece

at this point you didn’t care about stealth anymore

if people were already shooting around then why shouldn’t you too?

you quickly made it to the basement door and yoongi kicked the door in

you ran in first, when a small group of men could be heard coming from where you had just came from

“go” yoongi looks at you and closed the door behind him, leaving you alone to the basement area

“hoseok, it’s dark can you hack some lights on for me?” you asked through the earpiece

but shit

he didn’t reply to you

“hoseok?”

once you were sure he wasn’t hearing you, you cursed under your breath and started navigating in the slight darkness

damn basements and weak signals

then you heard a couple more gunshots coming from further down the hallway

you quickened your pace and ran towards the ruckus, your handgun pointing in front of you

more gunshots and a few japanese men shouting could be heard

you were getting closer

until finally you turned a corner to a hallway with lights on

and before you could even comprehend what’s happening

you were standing in front of at least six dead enemy bodies

and as you moved your eyes from the ground to see what had killed them

your eyes landed on a man

a man that was staring at you

with a very familiar glint in his eyes

and a smirk on his face

“didn’t i ask not to send you?” he playfully teased

but you were already running towards him

and you jumped into his arms, your body shaking

“i guess i should’ve known your stubborn ass wouldn’t listen to what i had to say” he chuckled and wrapped his arms around your smaller figure

he had been gone for less than a day and to you it already felt like an eternity

you pulled away from him

looked at him in the face

then

punched him in the shoulder

“AH WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR”

“WHY WOULD YOU GET KIDNAPPED LIKE THAT I WAS WORRIED SICK”

“well it’s not like i had a say in it, ‘oh hey could you not kidnap me rn, (Y/N) will get really worried oH WAIT YOU SHOULD TOTALLY TRY KIDNAPPING OUR NEW BOSS NAMJOON!’”

“okAYYYYY let’s get the frick out of here first and argue later”

you grabbed his hand and started guiding him out of the building

at this point you had noticed it had became really quiet all of a sudden

and then you remembered yoongi was all alone oops

you opened the basement door

and you felt weirdly comforted by the fact that you and taehyung had to step over several dead enemy bodies (bc that should be a sign yoongi is ok right?)

“took you long enough”

“hey hyung! i was doing fine on my own you shouldn’t have came”

“oh please with your sense of direction you would have ended up running around in circles” you point out

taehyung glared at you

once you turned a corner

and saw the ocean of dead bodies

you look at yoongi not knowing if you should be terrified or impressed

“what? the kept coming and coming it’s not like i was going to spare them”

“did you like murder a whole gang?”

“nah they have another base somewhere, more men are on their way” yoongi explaind all chill

“then let’s get the fuck out? :)”

and as you made your way back to the vehicle

you didn’t even care you hadn’t let go of taehyungs hand ever since you grabbed it

…

when you got back to the apartment building

everyone was screaming at you and yoongi

like expected tbh

“YOU TWO FUCKEN RATS- oh hey taehyung yOU TWO ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE”

“chill, taehyungs here and no one died- except for a ton of enemies but WE are fine so that’s all that matters, right? :)”

“nOT EXActly do you even REALIZE what consequences arE???”

“whatever we did, there would have been consequences. there was no easy way to this” yoongi reasoned

“yES but we could have lessened the consequences if you tWO WOULD have let us tHINK FIR-”

“we had limited time there was no time for thinking”

“don’T YOU FUCKEN INTERRUPT ME LIKE THAT MIN YOONGI I AM YOUR HYUNG”

as seokjin and yoongi continued arguing

you felt taehyung tug at your hand

he dragged you behind him all the way to his apartment, smoothly escaping the scenario

the second he had you inside his apartment

he slammed the door shut, pushing your body against it and trapping you with his body

!!!

your heart leaped into your throat

he leaned in to whisper into your ear, his breath making goose bumps form on your skin

“i thought it was so fucking hot how you completely ignored the rules for my sake”

you sucked in a quick breath

“you figured out my location so fast you’re so smart”

you felt his lips brush against your ear when he whispered the last part

“such a clever girl, (Y/N)” he basically moaned against your ear

when it became clear to taehyung that you weren’t going to push him away, he cheekily planted a kiss on your neck, just below your ear

you gasped, your heartbeat picking up incredible speed

you felt him smile against your skin at your reaction

he started planting even more gentle kisses along your neck, all the while inching closer to your mouth

once he reached the corner of your mouth

he pulled away slightly

he started at you in the eyes with such admiration it made you weak in the knees

“i’d do it all again” you whispered

his lips smashed into yours

you let out a moan into his mouth when his hands found their way to your waist, his fingertips gently pushing into your skin as he kissed you heatedly

your hands snaked around his neck, pulling him as close to you as possible

after a while, you pulled back to breath

taehyung rested his forehead against yours

“we need a new knocking code” you smirked at him

he laughed and pecked your forehead

“that’s the first thing you say to me after i’ve kissed you?”

“what? they obviously stole it. it would be really unfortunate if i shot you now”

taehyung wasted no time to connect your lips again

he lifted you up from the ground and you wrapped your legs around his waist

he carried you to his couch, laid you down on it and carefully climbed on top of you

his face hovered inches from yours, his eyes already staring at your slightly swollen lips

“yeah. can’t have my girlfriend shoot me, can i?”

…

it turned out taehyungs kidnappers were from the very same gang that had killed mr. kim

“they were like amateurs, they didn’t even realize i had heard them speak about their secret shit” taehyung had said

everyone that didn’t already know had asked you how you found taehyung and what actually happened in there

you had explained everything, remembering to point out how much of a help hoseok and yoongi were to you

then on his turn, taehyung had explained how he had broken free from the chamber they were holding him in

apparently he had forgotten the same bobby pin he picked your lock with into his pocket

and since it was so small the enemies never found it when they stripped him off weapons

talk about the importance of bobby pins

he picked the lock on the door and sneaked behind an unsuspecting guard, taking his handgun and moving forward

until you had found him of course

namjoon had thanked you for bringing taehyung back, but scolded you for acting on your own and told you to never do it again

you had gotten off with a warning and promised to try and not do it again

everyone immediately started a plan against the rest of that gang

this time, you actually let namjoon and the rest take over thinking a proper plan on how to take them down

they had even made intentional eye contact with you and yoongi when mentioning “it is extremely vital for us to think of a proper plan before we act. even if they might be amateurs, we better be safe than sorry”

taehyung had smirked and turned to look at you sitting next to him

and you might have felt his hand creep up your thigh under the table but tHIS WAS A SERIOUS BUSINESS MEETING NO FUNNY BUSINESS so you had pushed his hand away

but continued where you left off immediately after the meeting

namjoon was also glad to announce the gang was taking new trainees

they had a few potential candidates to join

and as for the training program

he made eye contact with you and taehyung

“i thought it would be a good idea to have (Y/N) and taehyung as mentors, since they represent great team work and their reputation as the dream team has been growing on the streets”

you two turned to look at each other, smirking

everyone in the table had agreed

including you and taehyung

and just like in the first meeting as a gang

when it was proposed you and taehyung would work together more

you shook your hands

“yes, sir”

who would have thought

that not so long ago you were a trainee yourself, hoping to make it to the gang

looking up to the mentors and admiring them for their skills and the reputations they had gained

and now

you were here

sitting in a meeting with your also very skilled boyfriend

being a gang member and all

waiting to start the training program

but this time

as one of the mentors
