The number one problem that arises when learning how to bend notes on the guitar is that the string slips beneath the fingers. The tension pulls the string back down, slipping between one’s fingers and the fretboard. The resulting sound is not pretty. The issue actually stems from the adjacent string "pushing back”—not the string that you’re actually plucking. The solution: The neighboring string should catch onto your fingertips, pulling it away from the fretboard as you bend (see photo). This way the other string is getting pushed up and out of the way without pulling pressure back down on the string that you’re actually trying to use, thus preventing your grip from slipping.
