Hi! Hello! I wanted to say that I love that idea about the Reader being immune to the Walkers' bite. My vision is this: R has been with the Group since Atlanta. She got bitten when everyone got separated after the fall of the prison. When either Rick or Daryl spot R covering up the scar from the bite, she decides to tell that "secret" only to them (fearing how the others in their group would either panic, or use that information somehow in case of strangers). Daryl doesn't know what to think - he's angry that she's been bitten, relieved that R's okay, but also fearful of what that might mean in the future.

Immune!reader - Daryl and Rick find out

Makeup in the apocalypse is hard to come by. You’d think there’d be an abundance in supply since make up and cosmetics would be the last thing on anyone’s mind, but you were wrong really. Not only is it hard to come by, but the use by date is also all horribly off as well any sort of concealer to help you in your current position is annoying.

The thing you need to cover up in question is a walker bite, it’s old when the prison fell after you go separated from everything. You have that son of the bitch the Governor to thank for your mind getting distracted from being worried to much about your friends, no your family that you didn’t even pay attention to the severely overweight walker that made more noise than a drum line that was right behind you when trying to find a place to stay the night. You got that walker in the end, but that was after it took a massive bite out of your arm. You would have capped yourself in the head right then and there without even thinking twice, if you didn’t have any bullets left.

So instead, you waited in the store. You waited, and waited… you felt so sick and tired, you felt a lot of things. But you never turned into one of them, never died…

It was annoying really.

The bite wound healed up, leaving a nasty and noticeable scar behind. When you were on your own, you could leave it out in the open, only throwing something over the top if you came across anyone who might ask questions. You didn’t mind the heat for short periods at a time, only really got on your nerves when you had to wear it in the scorching sun for hours at a time. In the end, you came up with an excuse and wrapped it up in bandages, saying to yourself that you fucked it up in your escape. You were no nurse or doctor, so you bullshitted as hard as you can.

But, once terminus came and went, once your family was back together again. You didn’t mind as much. It was your best kept secret that you hid from them all, you didn’t know their reactions to what you only just recently came to terms with… imagine what they would think.

What Daryl will think…

After losing everything and almost everyone you’d ever met in just a handful of years… you couldn’t bare to lose the only family you had left as well.

So, you’re looking for concealer, opening tubes and wiping some on your palm to see if it’d work and in the heat of course it doesn’t help.

“Found anything?” Rick’s voice appears from nowhere, snapping away your thoughts as his head appears out from the end of the isle.

Right yes, get refocused. You, Daryl and Rick are on a short run for supplies, nothing fancy and urgent. Just casing out a few places, seeing what’s been looted heavily and taking whatever might be left.

“Ummm…” excuse “Wanna be a pretty princess of the sheriffs?” you hold up some expired eyeshadow with glitter “I’m sure Judith would love to do your makeup”

Rick smiles, a small chuckle escaping from him “Don’t give her any ideas”

“Don’t be like that” you tease “I guess Daryl will have to be the princess then”

“Of what?” Rick asks

“The rednecks? I don’t know” he chuckles “imagine him with glitter lipstick oh my god”

You and Rick hear Daryl from the other corner of the store “Me with what?” his voice echos around the room a little

“Glitter lipstick!” you say back with a smile “Judith can make you a pretty princess!”

There’s a brief moment of silence and you can just make out a “please don’t…”

You snicker and Rick smiles.

“A few more minutes, and then we’re gonna head back” Rick says, a goes away to search somewhere else. You nod back.

A few minutes should be enough time to readjust the bandage around your arm. Looking around you try to find a space where you can do it peacefully without them coming to check on you.

You call out “I’m going to check the back room one more time”

“Got it” Daryl calls back

Going into the darkness, you close the door behind you and waste no time as soon as you close the door to roll back your long sleeves and take off the bandage underneath. As you roll it back up to get ready to rewrap it, you take a second to inspect the scar underneath. It’s healed nicely… kind of… plumpy in a few places where the bite was at its deepest and the way the scar stretches out to the skin that was undamaged reminds you almost of a spiderweb. You duck the first bit of the bandage underneath your thumb when the door opens.

Without even thinking you shove your hand behind your back and stand up straight, like a deer caught in headlights. Daryl stands at the door, clearly confused at why you’re so jumpy.

“Jesus Daryl, learn to knock when you’re asking for a lady” you nervously joke

His eyes scan you up and down. Looking at you and then at the arm behind you back.

“What’s wrong?” he simply asks

“Nothing, you just gave me a scare” you reply. He sees right through you and gestures to your arm.

“What happened?”

“Nothing I’m ju-“

“Show me”

He’s tense, worried, clear as day. The air is thick between the two of you.

“Daryl, I’m fine” you try to reassure, your hand clutching the hem of your shirt “really, I am”

“Then prove it, show me”

“You’re not going to like- “

“What’s going on?” Rick, again, appearing like an apparition from thin air next to Daryl, you think for a second that he has superpowers and can teleport.

“Something is wrong with her arm” Daryl says

Rick’s eyes stare into you, you can see clearly in this moment that he’s a parent because of the disapproving look he’s giving you. He scans you as you try to come up with some sort of excuse to this entire situation, but you’re caught in your throat trying to come up with one.

They’re going to leave.

Shaking, you reveal you arm to them. They blink for a few seconds, taking in and adjusting to what they’re seeing and witnessing. They understand what they’re looking at, a bite, shaped like a human… so why were you hiding it?

“It’s a walker bite…” you finally manage to say

In both Rick and Daryl’s brain, it finally clicks. Like they just discovered electricity for the first time or found out a way to cure world hunger. Neither of them says anything, until you speak up.

“When we all got separated, after the prison fell… I-I got bit and I never turned… I got sick but turning into one of them never happened.”

“…what?” Rick’s voice cracks slightly

“I-I’m not lying, if that’s what you think. It really was a walker, and, and this really did happen I’m not lying I swear it was this big like fat one and I don’t know why I didn’t hear it coming and it was just on me and- “

“You’re, okay?” Rick asks

You stop rambling, catching your breath “What?”

“You’re… okay?”

You take in a deep breath and nod “Yeah I uh… I think I’m okay”

Daryl can’t stop staring, Rick nods. “Alright then” he turns to leave

“Wait!” you quickly speak “This… you can’t tell anyone. Not even the others… it has to stay a secret; it could be a danger to you all”

Rick goes silent for a second. “You have my word” and keeps walking, right until he’s out of sight and probably going back to the car.

You and Daryl lock eyes. He’s the first to talk.

“You’re sure you’re a’ight?”

You take in a deep breath and nod in affirmation. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you… I just… didn’t know what you’d think and well, what you’d all think. I’ve been almost killed because of this I just, didn’t want to lose you all”

He exhales “it’s fine”

“Really?”

“Let’s go home”

In regards to the writing so much of the x reader stuff, love your work! Also I noticed that the other day and started thinking about making a side account for doing my own writing but I don't know if I have the motivation to be consistent enough for that
