Muppet Fact #1046
Bart, Bert's twin brother, is the complete opposite of Bert personality wise. Bart is very cheerful and happy, contrasting the serious and stern Bert.

Bart and Bert.
(I made this forever ago. Though The Simpsons is what I'm currently hyperfixated on, I'm gonna be dumping some of my old drawings from my Sesame Street hyperfixation on to here too.)

Danny is bored one day and decides that, if the rest of Young Justice is gonna date his sister/daughter/clone, then they must prove their love! So he creates a giant ghost obstacle course for them all to overcome as a team for his amusement. The rest of the Justice League is also watching for their amusement.
(I fucking love this ask)
Part 2, part 3
“Danny, do they have to do this?” moaned Dani. She looked distressed. “Can’t we do something else? Like— Like baking or something?!”
“Can any of them even bake?” Danny asked idly.
Dani was nearly pulling out her hair. “I don’t know! But it’s better than this!” She gestured aggressively at the arena, where her friends were all desperately running through an obstacle course/escape room/maze/puzzle room with several monsters chasing them through the labyrinth.
They were (unfortunately) doing a rather good job.
“As a Princess of the Ghost Zone,” Danny explained patiently, trying not to reveal his smirk as he watched Dani’s eye twitch, “you know that your spouses must be strong and able to protect you, especially when we both know that the only reason why we’re able to sit on this throne is because of how strong I am.”
“Yes,” Dani said through gritted teeth, “that’s true. But they’re still human! This is too much! A hydra, a manticore, a chimera, and a sea serpent?! This is overkill! It's not even all of them!"
“I dunno,” Danny said, stuffing his mouth with popcorn. “They seem to be doing just fine. Look! Your Bert friend was able to get rid of one of the harpies!"
"Bart!" She corrected snappishly before she waved at them urgently through the stands.
One of them, a blonde girl with the blessings of the Greek Pantheon, noticed her and pointed at her while saying something to the others. A newfound determination seemed to fill them and then they were off, fighting off monsters and solving puzzles and escaping the death mechanisms Danny put into the labyrinth with a viciousness that wasn't seen before.
If he didn't hate how they were taking away his baby sister, he almost could've felt proud that she found such strong, devoted partners.
"Robin needs some work on his puzzle skills," a voice murmured nearby. Danny tilted his head to look at Batman, who was thoughtfully watching the arena with an intense look. "He's taking too long to solve them."
The rest of the Justice League sat nearby, also eating their own snacks and making commentary.
Dani looked at him like he was crazy. "He's solving them in less than 10 seconds! That's too long?! And why are you even here?! Shouldn't you be helping your son?!"
Batman hummed. "He can handle himself. I have full faith in his abilities to woo you and convince Phantom to let them date you."
Danny frowned at that, but then sighed. "Children. They grow up so fast, don't they?"
The Justice League, also watching their protégés, nodded in agreement, looking mournful.
Dani's eye started twitching again.

Vera Lynn (1917-2020) by Truus, Bob & Jan too! Via Flickr: Dutch postcard by Takken, Utrecht, no. AX 5267. Photo: M.G.M. Promotional picture for her L.P. 'Hits of the blitz'. Today, Dame Vera Lynn, known as 'the Forces' Sweetheart', passed away. She was 103. Vera Lynn was a British singer of traditional popular music, songwriter and actress, whose musical recordings and performances were enormously popular during the Second World War. The songs most associated with her are 'We'll Meet Again', 'The White Cliffs of Dover', 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square' and 'There'll Always Be an England'. She remained popular after the war, appearing on radio and television internationally and recording such hits as 'Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart' and 'My Son, My Son'. Her last single, 'I Love This Land', was released to mark the end of the Falklands War. Vera Lynn was born as Vera Margaret Welch in East Ham, Essex, now part of the London Borough of Newham, on 20 March 1917. She was the daughter of plumber Bertram Samuel Welch and dressmaker Annie Martin. She had an elder brother, Roger Welch. In 1919, when Lynn was two years old, she fell ill with diphtheritic croup and nearly died as a result. She was sent to an isolation unit and was discharged after three months there. She began performing publicly at the age of seven and adopted her maternal grandmother Margaret Lynn's maiden name as her stage name when she was eleven. Her first radio broadcast, with the Joe Loss Orchestra, was in 1935. At this point she appeared on records released by dance bands including those of Loss and of Charlie Kunz. In 1936, her first solo record was released, 'Up the Wooden Hill to Bedfordshire'. In 1937, she moved to the aristocrat of British dance bands, Bert Ambrose. In 1937, Lynn made her first hit recordings, 'The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot' and 'Red Sails in the Sunset'. Lynn’s wartime contribution began when she would sing to people who were using London’s tube station platforms as air-raid shelters. She is best known for her 1939 recording of the popular song 'We'll Meet Again', written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles. The nostalgic lyrics ("We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day") were very popular during the war and made the song one of its emblematic hits. The Daily Express asked British servicemen to name their favourite musical performers: Vera Lynn came out on top and as a result became known as 'the Forces' Sweetheart'. In 1941, during the darkest days of the Second World War, Lynn began her own radio programme, 'Sincerely Yours', sending messages to British troops serving abroad. She and her quartet performed songs most requested by the soldiers. Lynn also visited hospitals to interview new mothers and send personal messages to their husbands overseas. Her other great wartime hit was 'The White Cliffs of Dover', words by Nat Burton, music by Walter Kent. In 1943, she appeared in the films We'll Meet Again (Philip Brandon, 1943) with Patricia Roc, and Rhythm Serenade (Gordon Wellesley, 1943) with Peter Murray-Hill. She also starred in One Exciting Night (Walter Forde, 1944). This was the last film of her brief film career. During the war years, she joined ENSA and toured Egypt, India and Burma, giving outdoor concerts for the troops. Vera Lynn's 'Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart' in 1952 became the first record by a British performer to top the charts in the United States, remaining there for nine weeks. She also appeared regularly for a time on Tallulah Bankhead's US radio programme 'The Big Show'. Her popularity continued in the 1950s, peaking with 'My Son, My Son', a number-one hit in 1954 which she co-wrote with Gordon Melville Rees. In 1960, she left Decca Records (after nearly 25 years) and joined EMI. She also recorded Lionel Bart's song 'The Day After Tomorrow' for the 1962 musical 'Blitz!', but she did not appear on stage in the play. The characters in the play hear the song on the radio while they shelter from the bombs. In 1967, she recorded 'It Hurts To Say Goodbye', a song which hit the top 10 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. Vera Lynn was the subject of This Is Your Life on two occasions, in 1957 and 1978. She hosted her own variety series on BBC1 in the late 1960s and early 1970s and was a frequent guest on other variety shows, notably the 1972 Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show. In 1964, the film Dr. Strangelove (Stanley Kubrick, 1964), starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott, used her song 'We'll Meet Again' to accompany the end montage of nuclear explosions. She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1969 Queen's New Year Honours List and the DBE (Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1975 Queen's Birthday Honours List. In 1972, she was a key performer in the BBC anniversary programme Fifty Years of Music. In 1976, she hosted the BBC's A Jubilee of Music, celebrating the pop music hits of the period 1952–1976 to commemorate the start of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee year. For ITV she presented a 1977 TV special to launch her album 'Vera Lynn in Nashville', which included pop songs of the 1960s and country songs. The Royal Variety Performance included appearances by Vera Lynn on four occasions: 1960, 1975, 1986 and 1990. In 2009, at the age of 92, she became the oldest living artist to top the UK Albums Chart with the compilation album 'We'll Meet Again: The Very Best of Vera Lynn'. In 2014 she released the collection Vera Lynn: National Treasure, and in 2017 she released 'Vera Lynn 100', a compilation album of hits to commemorate her centennial year—it was a number 3 hit, making her the first centenarian performer to have a Top 10 album in the charts. Vera Lynn has devoted much time and energy to charity work connected with ex-servicemen, disabled children, and breast cancer. She is held in great affection by veterans of the Second World War and in 2000 was named the Briton who best exemplified the spirit of the 20th century. In 1941, Vera Lynn married Harry Lewis, a clarinettist and saxophonist, and fellow member of Ambrose's orchestra whom she had met two years earlier. They had one child in 1946, Virginia Penelope Anne Lewis (now Lewis-Jones). Her husband died in 1998. Lynn said her reason for only having one child was so that she could carry on working, and would have been unable to do so had she had more children. After the Second World War, Lynn and Lewis moved to Finchley, north London. Since the early-1960s, Lynn lived in Ditchling, Sussex, next door to her daughter. She passed away there on 18 June 2020. media with slob stuff
there are lots of tv shows and so on that have slob-related stuff and sometimes you see them once and can never find them again
anyway this is a list of a few i remember:
Joe's Apartment: a movie about a guy who moves to New york and he's (to quote one of the characters) "the dirtiest freakin' slob on the planet". His apartment is infested with talking cockroaches and developers want to tear down the apartment block so the cockroaches (who love him bc he's a slob) help him save his apartment. the cockroaches also sing. it is all-around pretty gross and i'm here for that
Him & Her: a series about a couple who are slobs and kinda gross in a domestic-cute sort of way. i don't think you can find many eps of it online and the very first ep which had some scenes i really liked i haven't seen anywhere. i only really watched ep 1 all the way through tho so i can't really vouch for the rest of the show
Portlandia: one episode has the gay brother of a character (and his boyfriend) coming to stay and she and her husband are disappointed that they're not the stereotypically neat and stylish gays. the gay guys make a mess of the house. there's not much more than that but it was hot to me when i first saw it
Pigsty: an old sitcom that didn't last very long centred around a bunch of guys sharing an apartment. ive never watched a full episode but the opening sequence is slob-related enough for me to include it
Buzzfeed stuff: 'Weird things guys do when they're alone', 'Lazy things all guys have done' and 'You at home alone vs. with people': all of these involve a range of gross habits and behaviours.
The Simpsons: there's a lot in the simpsons because homer is a fat lazy slob to a t, but special attention must be paid to Bart after dark for its trash angels scene and Bart's dental hygiene. Also the opening of Bart gets an elephant. there are too many episodes that have aspects of slob in them so i'll stop here
Parks and Rec: Andy and April's house. To quote Andy "it's a mess!" Sadly Ben cleans it up (boo...)
The Office: I never got this far but at some point Jim moves in with Darryl and then they have an odd couple dynamic going on. nothing really exciting but i remembered it so eh why not add it
Futurama: Fry is a total slob and i love him for it. sorry if this is too much information but the first time i ever came i was thinking about him being a slob. like the Simpsons there are too many good moments but a stand out is 'How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back' where an inspector has an affair with Fry because she has a fetish for slobs. what can i say, she has good taste in men
The Heron's Cry: a book, it has one character who is a slob, but he only appears in one scene which i'll quote excerpts of because it's short (there's more i didn't quote but this is the best bit):
...there was a kitchen littered with pizza boxes and foil containers from takeaway restaurants. Empty beer cans. A smell that would set alarms ringing with environmental health. [Steve] expert was wearing a filthy fleece dressing gown. Nothing else as far as Ross could tell. He stood, blinking. "Fuck, man, what do you want? This feels like the middle of the night." "It's mid-morning…"
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole and its sequel The Growing pains of Adrian Mole: Adrian helps an elderly man called Bert who is a total slob. They clean out his house and it is an endeavour. Favourite part of this scene though is this line: "Bert has been sitting in a deckchair criticising and complaining. He can’t see what’s wrong with living in a dirty house. What is wrong with living in a dirty house?" Nothing, in my opinion. There are other scenes too. Adrian's mother is a slob and there's even a bit where she chides him on being so fussy and not messy like a 'normal' teenager. I know there's more but my memory fails me right now
Friends: there's two main ones that come to mind: the one with the dirty girl (obvious reasons) and the one where ross and rachel you know (which to me is known as the one where joey and chandler get recliners).
Kotaro Lives Alone: Karino is a lazy manga artist whose apartment is a mess. The part that got me was when he wondered if he should take a shower and then he goes 'nah, i'm good'. He gets more on top of things after he meets Kotaro, but he's still pretty lazy after ep 1
Very random thing, but this ad for JBS underwear. It's a woman dressed in male underwear behaving like a stereotypical man and it covers a lot of categories for me
Stardew Valley: Shane. that's all i really have to say but in particular his spouse room and his comments about his weight
Spiritfarer: a video game. one of the spirits you can get on your boat is Jackie and he starts out with a messy, trash-filled room. he also dislikes healthy food. he ends up cleaning up his act though.
#I'm sure i could think of more if i tried but i'm getting bored#i tried to include stuff that had things that covered a few kinks#so just burping for instance isn't enough#because that's waaay too broad#and others are just 'x has a messy room' and that's enough for me#i want a show where the character lives in a pigsty but doesn't have to go through character development that involves cleaning up#i just want to see slobs being slobs for more than one episode...
