Had to come back and say it

I'm actually so unbelievably mad about some of the elder cutscenes they changed.

The old animation was so fluid and had little to no clipping, or if it did it wasn't noticeable because of how the Elders were moving.

Tsadi's, I am INCREDIBLY pissed off that they changed. I've seen concept art of that cutscene, and loved the idea of it. Why would they take away them lifting the door. I LOVED that.

I suppose it makes sense, as the elder shrine was changed to be inside the temple.

however, TGC was lazy and made it so the memory was still outside...???

If Teths hadn't changed, it would have made it a lot easier for me to understand what he was doing. Because, believe it or not, watching the Light Awaits cutscene is the only reason i realized the darkstone opened the door. Before that I thought he was making this light sucking block for the hell of it.

The valley twins was such a cool animation, and I?? Sorta understand changing it?? Like maybe the whimsy, floaty thing doesn't show the personality they wanted the twins to have.

But all that movement... In exchange for clipping, a floating or sinking sky kid, and choppy, awkward animation at the start-??

Not worth it.

I think the only elder cutscene change I like is the Vault cutscene, as they added Resh in the mural line up.

They fixed Hermit Valley so that we would only have a singular Eden mountain, and of course I went to go and grab a picture. The lightning flashed, and lo and behold, for the first time, the PNG lit up.

I am losing my mind.

chat can we band together and bombard beta feedback to change the hairstyle to be fully locs? this isn't even a locs existing in other cultures situation - they've purely added them for the aesthetic (snake-like hair for year of the snake, which would naturally resemble loose curls or locs). it lowkey just feels like the 2 straight strands are there so they don't have to be linked to black culture

So TGC just announced some extremely controversial and potentially illegal changes to their Beta program.

Basically, on the 20th of this month they will be kicking every current Beta player from the program. From there, they will require potential beta testers to submit an application and sign an NDA to become a tester. As of right now, Beta will only be available to iOS users "for security reasons."

A lot of people are very upset but I don't know if that's going to change TGC's mind. If you're in the official Discord, I strongly encourage you to leave feedback about this issue. It's unfair to the people who have put countless hours doing beta testing completely free of charge. In addition, the requirement for NDAs would prevent anyone under 18 from participating in Beta. Not to fearmonger, but I worry that this could be the end of Sky as we know it and could signal a real shift in the game's culture.

Aside from whatever legal complications might arise, my immediate thought when seeing the sky beta NDA stuff was... what's the point? I can't help but feel like it's (at least partially) motivated by player outrage over pricing/IAPs; if the beta test group is small and under NDA, they can't inform the live community about any controversial choices tgc might make in beta. And if that happens + there isn't enough pushback within the testing group itself, then the change makes it to live and upsets even more people. (Some controversies I have in mind are Days of Mischief being bloated with IAPs, Days of Color pride cosmetics, and general complaints about cultural representation being locked behind a season pass. As always though, the Sky discord has a feedback channel, so we can only use it and hope they listen.)

Just met another player on Sky. They were deep calling butterflies and I tried to emote to tell them not to. They brought out a table and we talked! They didn’t know deep calling broke the butterflies for other players, but apparently for them in PlayStation, the emote doesn’t work at ALL. So now their only option IS to deep call if they want dye!

This whole butterfly problem has had so many bugs and it’s so sad to see everyone confused or frustrated. I’m REALLY hoping TGC fix this issue soon.

If the butterfly emote doesn’t work for you (whether the emote itself or it doesn’t show up after burning the dark plants) I encourage you to report it on the Discord. I can’t promise it will get fixed, but hopefully if enough people bring it to their attention, something will be done about it.
