Keep seeing new fans of Being Human UK discovering BTS material and additional extras here and there and possibly not being aware of the ton of other stuff that we were blessed with when the show was on the air.

And every time keep thinking how lucky we were to have such a dedicated crew and creative team. Yeah, these kinds of additional materials, even webseries between the seasons were common for the shows that aired in the 00s and early 10s. But I don’t recall even bigger shows with bigger mainstream audience putting so much work into creating material for the fans while the show aired. And not just extra behind the scenes outtakes. But full on additional materials, like letters from the characters, leaked emails, or videos of flashbacks etc. And we had this all for free which is amazing.

Anyway, shout out to the owners of this old fandom blog who meticulously put together all this stuff when it came out and tagged everything. New fans can find a lot of stuff going through their links and searching the blog.

The werewolf transformation scene from BH behind the scenes documentary Unearthed (set during the filming of s1).

wait question about being human's werewolves. is it like wolfmen type werewolves or big wolf type werewolves. and if wolfmen how uncanny valley is it

I'd say it's more on the wolfman side of the spectrum, though not completely. the mid-transformation makeup and prosthetics are good but the finished transformations aren't the most convincing, and they're careful about how they film transformed werewolves so we don't generally see them head-on. they aren't really in the uncanny valley at all, they just kind of look like costumes.

Lily, as someone with knowledge of singing and vocal technique, I'm hoping you can answer something I've been thinking about since I watched the mini-doc about the creation of Muse.

When Jimin and his crew go back into the bedroom--it's almost midnight, at this point--Jimin says, with some uncertainty, I believe--that the key they've chosen is "quite high." Two keys ahead of the original! Later, the guitarist asks him if he's going to sing it higher and then nods approvingly..."that's art."

But is it really better to sing in such a high key? Would it not have sounded as good in a slightly lower key? Is it the reason for the auto-tune so many people are complaining about?

I thought about this while listening to Be Mine. There's that one line that seems excessively high--so high I feel like it might attract any dogs in the vicinity. Do you think it needs to be/should be that high?

Btw, whatever the key, Be Mine is one of those songs that is deceptively difficult to sing, isn't it? People aren't talking enough about Jimin's vocal prowess here.

i want you to listen to two things. first, listen to the original version of dynamite. then listen to this version:

now tell me which one sounds more like a bts song. the original dynamite was a song in quite a high pitch, and many people agree that the version in a lower pitch sounds more like a bts song.

this concept applies to all songs. some songs sound better at a higher tone, some songs sound better at lower tones. im sure when considering the pitch of who, jimin took two things into consideration:

1) is he capable of singing it live (and we have seen yes he can)

2) what sounds best vocally and instrumentally

im pretty confident jimin chose the right key because of one main reason: it fits perfectly into jimin's vocal sweet spot

we all have vocal sweet spots when we sing and they're not all coherent. for example, i'm really comfortable in my lower-mid range and my high range, but i struggle when it comes to mid-high range. jimin's sweet spot seems to be that very high falsetto/mix that he does in the who prechorus

who is a challenging song to sing, but jimin chose it because he knows his voice and he knows what sounds good. i believe, had he chosen one of the lower pitches, we wouldn't have gotten that resonant note. (jimin also seems to be so proud and confident of his vocals now after taking those lessons and he's been showing it off a lot. a challenging key would the perfect opportunity to show off something he's proud of)

because i love making videos to try to explain things, here's one of who in different keys so you can get a feel for why jimin chose to have to song be that pitch:

now for be mine: yes the prechorus for this song is also absurdly high. like absurdly. the real test on if that was the right key choice for this song is if jimin can sing live (fingers crossed the bonus clip has be mine in it). based on the who performances, i am so confident he can

and yes, be mine is challenging to sing because youre reaching a spot where its hard to even use a falsetto to reach those notes. jimin and i have similar high key ranges and its so incredibly difficult for me to get to those notes and make it sound nice. jimin really saw people ranking him at no. 4 for vocal capabilities in bts and decided to come for his rightful no. 2 spot as a lead vocalist. all the kudos to him, that is a power move if i ever saw one

I'm usually the first one to point out the big corporations and i'm even taking part of the Hybe boycott so I can't believe I'm writing this but... I really don't think there's anything Hybe can do right now for Yoongi that won't make it worse, especially if they don't have Yoongi's approval and judging by his latest letter that broke my heart, I think he would refuse any aggressive help from Hybe. And if they can't be aggressive, anything less would be used as munition against him, the big star protected by the big corporation when the whole point is that he's just human and shouldn't be facing further consequences for being famous.

This is why, even though I usually boycott Hybe, I was all onboard for the charting of Yoongi's songs, unlike other times when armys were charting songs to show Hybe they were mad (which makes no sense half the time).

I think charting Yoongi's songs right now is the most efficient way to achieve the only goal that should matter: reassure Yoongi that his fans are still there, still see him as a part of BTS that can never be taken away, and forgave him the moment he asked for forgiveness in that first post because they know it does not warrant any further punishment.

To sing back his lyrics to him because they reflect what is happening right now, because he needs to hear it and believe it.

Right now, the most important thing is to make sure Yoongi forgives himself for what he thinks he did (damage the members and BTS's name, which is not true), and if that means Hybe gets some money from that because we are streaming, so be it.

Hybe namedropped BTS first and now the hate trains shifted completely on bts with the most ridiculous cult allegations and they’re not even moving to protect them. Staying silent while bts get defamed left and right. And you know why? Because they’re using them as scapegoats, Bang pd never cared about protecting bts.

“Resolving it internally” no you freak you were airing out your business for the past week now you need to speak up and defend the reason you have a job.

BigHit putting out an official announcement that TXT is going on break after GDA is the news we were all begging to hear but I also fucking hate them so much I can't even be happy about it entirely.

Especially since I honestly doubt it has anything to do with wanting TXT to rest and the members to get much needed downtime and more like that evil ass company is rearing the gears on the BTS machine and want all hands on deck for that and so TXT are being put aside.

TXT deserved a break sooner so 4/5 their members' health didn't deteriorate into nothing and left one of them out of commission to the end of the year anyway...like Soobin isn't gonna come back just to do one show and then go back into recovery, but at least the others can get their own down time.

Potentially Unpopular Opinion

I didn’t love it.

I finally got home from work and immediately watched Tae’s new song ‘Love Me Again’. And to be honest, while the song was good and when it comes on my playlist I won’t skip it, I didn’t love it.

It was exactly what I expected though. There were no surprises with the song.

I didn’t like the MV. Like at all. I get what they were doing with it, the very retro MTV/VH1 vibe. But I didn’t like it. Mostly because I don’t like the styling that was chosen - the wet choppy blonde hair, the gold sequin turtleneck, the red sequin was better but only slightly.

It was kinda a let down.

they have matching seven tattoos that every single one of them got in their own style, even the members who have said they had no interest in getting a tattoo and probably wont get more. but before they settled on the 7 the second eldest proposed the idea of a red string tattoo and when told that's for love his response was basically "but i love you guys"

one time, on a day off, the eldest went to see a movie by himself and when he sat down in the theater another member was there too seeing the same movie. neither of them had mentioned their plans to the other beforehand.

back before they debuted, the company was near bankruptcy and told all the trainees to go home but the three rappers refused to leave the dorm so the company got one last investment, recruited the four singers and they finally managed to debut

two of the members are consistently called soulmates and one of them even wrote a song about it, a duet they perform together full of references to their friendship over the years. it was inspired, in part, by what is known as the dumpling incident, when the two of them had a huge falling out over when to eat dumplings.

they only got their slot on a music show to finally debut because another act had to cancel and the show needed to fill the time

So much BTS lore feels like fanfiction and I can't get over it

Two of the members hated each other at first. They argued a lot and one time, they threw folded clothes at each other and the member who folded them had to come scold them. And now they keep reminding everyone how long they've known each other for. They wrote a song together where they said that "respect is a higher tier than love" and then called each other "my respect."

The smartest member of the group (one the previous two morons btw) didn't know how to tie his shoelaces until highschool. He doesn't eat seafood because he loves crabs. He's a literal geniues and he's so clumsy and such a dork (and I relate so deeply). And that body, guys, I'm telling you. This whole guy was made by a fanfic author.

Their company was near bankrupcy when they debuted. One of the members, who was getting offers from so many other companies, joined this one because he admired another member who was already a part of it. When these two met for the first time, member two was only wearing underwear and member one said "wow, thighs."

Another member came to an audition, not to audition himself but to support a friend. He was the only person from that audition round to get in. The friend did not.

Another member, who was studying to be an actor, was street cast on a bus.

One of them lost confidence and tried to leave before the debut, but another convinced him to come back, because they "needed him."

The whole industry hated them when they debuted and now they're arguably the best kpop group worldwide. (Arguably, read: argue with the wall)

i wonder if maybe jin's fanmeet is really just a subtle way to touch base with the og army - the real ones that were there for them pre-debut and at the music shows

and that's why it's local only and they don't seem to feel bad about cutting some people out - probably for security reasons too
