this has haunted me for YEARS so now i'm gonna try to get an answer:
is spelling the name allison with two Ls actually uncommon in the uk or is the scene when allison makes everyone try to guess the spelling of her name and they think it's spelled differently just meant to show allison's personality as someone who likes spelling things for fun? cause if it's normally spelled with two Ls then is she causing them to guess less common spellings by making them think that it's an uncommon spelling by saying "bet you can't spell my name" like it's a challenge? spelling it with two Ls is my default assumption of how to spell it so i've always been so confused what was going on in this scene. i have to know!!!

Do you like vampires? Do you like the 90s? Do you like vampires working menial jobs in the 90s? Then you'll want to play the demo for my 1-bit visual novel, Night Shift: 1999 !
Set in Kings Cross, Sydney during the end of the millennium, play as a vampire from the 1600s trying to make ends meet as she works the night shift at the local hospital. Talk to a variety of colourful characters â human, undead, and everything in-between â and reveal the secrets this city has to offer⌠willingly or by force. Be greeted with dream sequences that unveil your murky past, all determined by the choices you make.
With five introductory stories available in the demo, it takes around 2-4 hours to complete. It's available to play through itch.io, with a steam store page coming soon.

the most unintentionally funny thing abt being human uk is how they play the fucking default usa eagle screech (ik it's actually a red tailed hawk lol) sound effect whenever the vampires do something scary. i made a short compilation but it happens many more times

Keep seeing new fans of Being Human UK discovering BTS material and additional extras here and there and possibly not being aware of the ton of other stuff that we were blessed with when the show was on the air.
And every time keep thinking how lucky we were to have such a dedicated crew and creative team. Yeah, these kinds of additional materials, even webseries between the seasons were common for the shows that aired in the 00s and early 10s. But I donât recall even bigger shows with bigger mainstream audience putting so much work into creating material for the fans while the show aired. And not just extra behind the scenes outtakes. But full on additional materials, like letters from the characters, leaked emails, or videos of flashbacks etc. And we had this all for free which is amazing.
Anyway, shout out to the owners of this old fandom blog who meticulously put together all this stuff when it came out and tagged everything. New fans can find a lot of stuff going through their links and searching the blog.

with how often the BH characters throw and break chairs to fight vampires you'd imagine they must've been constantly going to IKEA to buy new ones (and we know Mitchell's feelings about IKEA)

A tiny lil compilation of the 4 Sketchmas requests that do not have to do with the JSE community directly! - @ naranoken requested both The Count of Monte Cristo and the main trio from BBC's Being Human show :3 - @ glitched_outcast wanted their little animatronic doggo OC Gizmo fighting one of the Security Breach animatronics! - @hcrystal02 requested the mental health creatures. This was my first time seeing these, but they're so fun and cute aaaaah <3

Post-season 3 of Being Human brain dump
ok so I just finished series three of Being Human and jesus christâŚthat was probably the best and only way to end it, but holy hell I am reeling after that. I need to talk about it.
Yeah yeah, the show released nearly twenty years ago, I donât care. They actually had the balls to kill one of the mcs. Mitchell had already lived more than most people, and all he was capable of doing by the end was either killing or using the people he loved as a crutch to not kill, and those people deserved better than that. And he deserved to die, dammit, he deserved the peace. I think Mitchell was a lot like Sasha from s3e3, clinging on to a life that is long gone, covering to up with hole filler, lovers, etcetera. But John Mitchell died in 1917, and everything after that was a mask. Part of me wishes we saw him before he was a vampire, but that mightâve ruined the point. Heartbreaking, but inevitable. He finally came to terms with the fact that he was a bad person, and did what was probably the most human thing heâd ever done since 1917: die.
And can we talk about Annie? That amazing woman had the balls to see her boyfriend punished for the atrocities he committed, even though she loved him. That is queen shit. Her whole arc seems to have been about seeing the people in her life (particularly the men in her life) for who and what they are, finally living for her, and I am so very glad they did not just bin off all that development from s2 in s3, like, we actually got to see her being proactive, solving a murder, helping Sasha, being a friend to George and Nina, even in purgatory, she mustâve made some sort of effort to contact the gang through the TV. I hope very much that this continues through s4&5, but only time will tell, I suppose.
Another thing: I know she threw him out of their room for a night, but I kind of hate how we never fully address George basically telling Nina ânot your body, not your choiceâ over her considering an abortion. Idk, just food for thought. Do I suspect if Nina had gone through with it he wouldâve come around? Yeah, but he should never had to have come around in the first place.
Anyway, rant over. I love this show. It wonât be the same w/o the original trio, but I will still watch the next seasons. I have tried watching the first two episodes of the US version, but it made me want to pull my eyes out. Something about them naming the vampire after the UK actor, or the fact the werewolf took all the neuroses of George but none of the underlying emotion that actually made him interesting. Who knows, maybe just my English sensibilities playing up.
#being human uk#being human bbc#but seriously though them calling the US vampire Aiden is a smack in the face

imagine being a neighbour to the s1-2 Being Human trio though like
okay so these new guys finally moved into the house where the owner died a year ago but they seem chill don't they? A little odd but this is Bristol, you know? I mean apart from the weird tortured yelling that we occasionally hear but that's clearly just the TV, right? And then the handsome Irish dude gets accused of pedophilia but that's all cleared up now. And they get a new housemate and she kinda seems familiar (Barbara swears she's the woman who died but that's obviously bullshit) and then GUESS what, the landlord is done for murdering his fiancĂŠe (see Barbara, not the same woman). And then Handsome Irish not-a-pedo-fella gets stabbed but makes a remarkably speedy recovery (all according to Barbara, so take with a pinch of salt). The female housemate left suddenly, which is a shame because she made a great cuppa and had just started working at that pub down the road too. And now we reckon they had a big ol' falling out or something because they've just packed up and left!! No goodbyes, no nothing, and we don't even know where they've gone. Sure they're okay though. Gone to the middle of nowhere, Barbara says. She thinks they've gone on the run, hiding from God Knows What. Bunch of bull though. They'll be all good. Probably.
