My favorite thing about KOTLC is that all the ship names are literally in-universe, mostly made up by Keefe. That’s where we got Fitzphie, Sophitz, Team Foster-Keefe, Keefoster, Keefex, and Keefitzer, Bianex, Dexphie, Keephie…. They even have a name for SOPHORKLE (NOT as a romantic ship) not to mention all the ones I’m forgetting rn. They just, like, call each other ship names, IN UNIVERSE. I love it

Unpopular opinion :

I think Tiana is fan service. The only thing about this ship is that Tam says he likes dark-haired girls. Then there is a development between dex and Biana (Biana is jealous, dex blushes, dex wants to please Biana, Biana blushes with him) then out of nowhere we learn that Biana is in love with Tam in 8.5 ☠️ IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE it's just because people like Tiana because they are opposites that Shannon did this, but she has more chemistry with Dex? It will just leave me with a very bitter taste if she ends up with Tam especially since Biana has 4 lines of dialogue in Stellarlune, 3 of which are about Dex lmao they didn't even talk about the ENTIRE book 😭☠️

In most of my Fandoms I feel fairly young, being as I'm not even 20 yet but in the keepers Fandom I feel like an old woman yelling at the sky about the Diana vs Vackiznee argument

I think that Biana x Dex would be a really good ship. Dex with his previous hatred of the vacker family, ending up with a vacker? They also make good friends and have chemistry in the interactions we see.

But I'm also worried Biana will end up with Tam. Him and Keefe are always compared to each other, Biana used to like Keefe, it only makes sense that she would like Tam. We also know confirmed that Biana is Tam's type. And like, yeah, they would probably make a good couple, but it feels... too easy? And bianex would be a more satisfying character arc. Thoughts?

Okay imagine it’s the night before the final battle. Everyone knows this is their last stand, the last fight between the Black Swan and the Neverseen.

Sophie can’t sleep. She knows she could die tomorrow. Worse than that, she knows she could lose everyone she ever loved along with failing her people.

She’s almost certain she’ll spend the entire night imagining all the ways she could fail. Until she hears someone at her door. It’s Biana. She’ll wonder over to Sophie’s bed, plot down and giggle about “doing something stupid.” Biana says she needs Sophie “downstairs in 30 minutes” and to “wear something nice.”

Sophie almost protests, knowing that it’s important for her soldiers to rest before their final stand. But she sees the desperation in Biana’s eyes. So she gets up and puts on a simple dress. Barely elegant in human standards.

When she heads downstairs, it’s not Biana who greets her but Dex. He’s in a nice jerkin, hair slicked back in the way Biana taught him, and face bright red.

Finally someone lets Sophie in on what the ‘stupid plan’ is: they’re going to get married.

Sophie doesn’t even protest. Even though they’re young and could die tomorrow. This is the first time in weeks she’s seen Dex smile so hard his dimples are on display.

They head to a secluded area in the Black Swan’s latest base. It’s almost pretty enough to pretend that this was always the plan, instead of a desperate ploy to spend eternity with someone you love.

The dress Biana wears is simple, far too basic for her usual style. Still her scars are on display and she is absolutely glowing.

She giggles like an innocent school girl in love for the first time when she spots Dex.

He’s already crying.

Sophie is the only one there. Both of them consider her family. She was the reason the met, only fitting she attends the wedding. (Other than Woltzer who happens to be the only person they know who is ordained. He rolls his eyes through every line and mushy confession.)

Overall, it’s a quiet and beautiful ceremony. In the morning they’ll pretend nothing happened. Biana wears the ring (because Dex did have time to make something simple. Not enough time to make himself one.) on a chain around her neck. They’ll say their somber goodbyes and head into battle. Mr and Mrs Dizznee.

Maybe on of them will die. The other becoming a widow before the honeymoon. Having to explain everything that happened, having to eventually move on.

Or they survive. Tell their families as the rubble clears and soldiers heal. Any matchmaking scandal feels like nothing compared to the relief of being together.

Of course they’ll have another wedding later. Something extravagant to share with family. Biana will design her own wedding dress, Dex will perfect the rings. Once again, Sophie is front and center. They argue over if she’s the maid of honor or best man. Somehow she ends up being both.

Second Deleted Scene from Lodestar

This scene used to be part of the sequence set at Dex's house, but it felt like it was slowing the story's momentum too much, and nothing all that significant was happening or being revealed. So once again, I had to chop something I liked to keep the pacing tighter.

“Wow, just noticed the sky," Biana whispered as they all stared through the glass dome at the swirling streaks of green and pink.

"Is that the aurora borealis?" Sophie asked. "Or another one of your holograms, Dex?"

"That's the real deal," he said. "I actually tried adding a northern-lights setting to my gadget, but everything looked fake." 

"I'm sure it was better than you thought," Biana told him. "Though this really is beautiful. I know it's probably a huge betrayal to the Vacker name to admit this, but I think this is prettier than the Celestial Festival." 

Fitz and Biana's very distant relative—Orem Vacker—was a Flasher, and he was famous for creating a light spectacle whenever there was a total eclipse. 

"This is calmer," Fitz said. "Plus, it's kinda cool knowing there's no one controlling it. It's just…nature. Feels like a good thing to remember, you know? As powerful as we are, as many crazy things as we can do, there's so much that's way bigger than us." 

Biana laughed. "Look who's getting all deep and philosophical while cuddling with his sparkly red dragon." 

"Hey, don't knock it till you try it," Fitz told her, hugging Mr. Snuggles tighter. "Besides, I think it's useful to remember that we're not as important as we sometimes think we are. It's…Never mind, I don't know how to explain it." 

"I do," Sophie jumped in. "It's good to remember that we're not the epitome of everything, because it puts it all in perspective. Especially with how huge our problems feel sometimes." 

"Exactly," Fitz said. "Maybe the whole world isn't resting on our shoulders. Only a part of it is. Sometimes I think we forget that. Like with the alicorns. All that stress and hassle we went through trying to shelter them in the Sanctuary, when the better idea was to let Silveny and Greyfell take care of themselves." 

"So ... what? We just let the Neverseen do whatever they want?" Dex asked. 

"Of course not," Fitz said. "But sometimes I wonder if the Council's problem is that they keep trying to control everything. Their attention gets so divided that they miss a bunch of huge stuff." 

"Like when they focused on finding the Black Swan instead of going after the Neverseen," Sophie suggested. 

"Or all the focus on abilities, and forgetting to train us in our skills," Fitz added.

Biana snickered. "Look—now they're basically finishing each other's sentences. They really are Fitzphie, aren't they?" she asked Dex. 

"It's Sophitz," Fitz corrected. "And hey, you guys are starting to turn into…Actually, what would we call you? Bianex? Dexiana?" 

"How about Vackizznee?" Biana suggested. "Or Dizzker?" 

"Dizzker?" Sophie repeated. 

"It could work," Biana insisted.
