A Fresh Start !

I’ve been wanting to Big Chop for well over a year but never had the courage to do it…until this year ! I big chopped in May and have been braiding my hair since because I wasn’t feeling too confident with how low it was. In August I lost so much hair due to the braids being too heavy so I decided it was time to embrace my short hair. It’s been a month kicking it with my curls and about 2 weeks with me falling in love with relearning how to care for my hair. I have also had the urge to document this journey somewhere so here I am documenting lol Hopefully I can keep up with it.

So for Mass Effect 2 I’m gonna give Geena a buzz cut and it’s gonna go something like this

Geena: What…did you do… TO MY HAIR ?!?

Miranda: It was necessary to shave your hair for the procedure-

Geena, pointing at Jacob: YOU LET THIS WOMAN TOUCH MY HAIR ?! IT TOOK ME TWO YEARS JUST TO GET IT TO THAT LENGTH AND YOU LET HER TOUCH MY HAIR ?!?

Jacob: I had nothing to do with the Lazarus project hands on so-

Geena: YOU DONT EVER TOUCH A BLACK WOMAN’S HAIR EVEN WHEN SHE’S COMATOSE AND DYING !

Miranda: If I didn’t shave your head I couldn’t preform the surgery and you’d be dead

Geena: WHO CARES ?!? I’d rather be dead with hair than bald !

Jacob: Just think of it as a big chop, a fresh start to celebrate coming back to life !

Geena: I will kill you and burn Cerberus down TO THE GROUND !

Garrus: I like the haircut Shepard. It really brings out your face.

Geena, giggling like a school girl: Oh Vakarian, flattery will get you no where.

Finally went for the big chop bc my right pointer finger got a nasty crack straight across😔 did a cute color contrast mani to make myself feel better about it

I already miss my long nails 💔 but they should be back to a preferable length by Christmas

Hey ! Let’s talk confidence with short hair for a sec…

So! This is my third and arguably the most nerve wracking big chop I’ve done. Like I’m not sure how I had so much confidence the other times walking around bald headed 🥲. This time around ? I have zero confidence and have been working real hard each day to not care about the opinion of others. After all, my lil curlies are so cute ! I am now in a place where I recognize myself when I take photos and I actually will take a few selfies and be pleased with it. That’s a lot of progress! I hope I continue to get more comfortable with my short hair as I learn how to care for it. I’m really starting to get into hair care products and practices and trying to figure out what I can fit into my routine.
