I realized that the nonbinary flag and the Maryland flag are both 4 colors, in fact almost the same 4 colors, and they're both regarded as tacky/gaudy/bad to look at and.... well I had to.

Bought a Hudson Joy Card controller for the Famicom. A lot of the games can be played with the controller that plugs into the controller port on the side. News from the Front.

First off Fourth Page are hitting the road in a few weeks, with Carolyn and Paul just back from Russia and Peter’s forays into Bollywood music can’t wait to be part of that thoughtful melting pot. The first date is at Cafe Kino in Bristol.

I have been busy with the new Quartet ‘What?’ comprising of Sonia Hammond, Gerry Gold, Rod Paton and myself. We have recorded an album which will be released next year. Which has an other worldliness even if I do say so myself.

Even more news I have officially started a new solo record, a few weeks ago I went into the very wonderful Baby Microbe Recording Studio in Brixton with Andrea Rocca at the helm. I was joined by Peter Marsh and Tom Clarke and we laid down the skeleton of something that feels very special. More on that soon.

Finally I am pleased to say that Christian Vasseur and I will be making our dulcet tones known in parts of France and Belgium again in January, very much looking forward to that too.

Binary Land

Hudson may no longer be in the limelight these days, there's definitely something to be said for their unique legacy of games, both well-known and obscure. One such title was Binary Land, originally released for the FM-7 computer in 1983. It was later ported to a variety of systems including the MSX and Famicom, and Sharp X68000.

Your objective is to guide a couple in love through a variety of vertically divided mazes to reach the goal at the top of the screen. What made this puzzle game particularly unique was that you controlled both characters at the same time and their movements mirror each other. So depending on which character you selected on the title screen, your counterpart will move in the opposite direction when moving horizontally. If you go left, your partner moves right and vice versa. This mechanic adds an interesting layer of strategy because the mazes are asymmetrical, which means that walls and entryways don't match up perfectly on each side. So essentially, the main challenge of the game is figuring out how to coordinate both characters as they traverse the hazards in each round.
