Honestly, that's very valid. I'm guessing they are trying to go for the "outlaws and runaways" "far from big urban areas" "cows and horses" vibe but the colonialist undertones of that whole period were also the 1st thing I thought of when I saw the announcement, and it's so easy to fall into problematic tropes and narratives within that genre. I really like most of the cast and the other POW projects (although I admit I far prefer the cozyness/chaos of Rats to the adventure vibe of Pirates and probably Cowboys), but I completely agree in being worried about this specific setting

BTW I'm not personally excited about Cowboy smp because of the themes of anti-indigenous violence/colonialism I feel like are inherent to the genre.

The main character argument always annoys me bc. Yes, I think a Jimmy win would have been so poetic and fun, but this isn't a scripted series, it's all improv, snd everyone is the main character in their own pov. And Martyn popped off

Thank fuck people aren’t being total shits to Martyn compared to limited life. I haven’t looked through tumblr as of yet but I did see three comments on the reddit being upset over his win.

Understandable, I would have loved to see a Jimmy win or for a non-top 5 player I would have loved to see Impulse win. But nah, they’re upset over something else.

Martyn won because he played well. It managed a water bucket clutch, it’s not his fault that Grian got tilted and killed Gem.

Plus let’s be honest, if Gem won people would complain, if Jimmy won people would complain. No one would complain about Martyn not winning “story wise” if it wasn’t for the fact that he stepped back from doing watcher lore.

Now he chose to do that as he was certain Grian was going to do lore this season, and since it’s past themed and had the evo symbol, Martyn didn’t touch his eyes and ears lore in the videos.

He only did when it was too late.

Anyway, congrats to Martyn for winning both time based seasons! An absolute deserved win!
