No, that free skin selector is not to incentivize players to buy that Genshin Themed PS5. It's a perk of buying that PS5.

You should not be buying a PS5 for some throwaway primogems and a free paid skin selector.

I know everyone's mad because the data miners said the skin selector was going to be free for everyone, but. Well guess what? That's kind of what happens when you get data miners. And why I've even stopped watching the Livestreams.

Because spoiling any aspect of the game just kind of ruins it for me. The free skin? Had I, maybe, not invested in Klee's skin, I would be annoyed about learning that what I thought was going to be my chance to get a free Klee skin was a lie, but I'd still be more annoyed at the data miners and the people spreading it around than HYV. Like they're the ones who lied, HYV wasn't taking back a free gift or something.

Again.... if you're not having fun with the game, stop playing. You're not doing anyone any favors by not enjoying yourself and making it every one else's problem.

Okay, this is probably the last thing I will say about Natlan for now: The comments and posts I've seen about how the characters look as if they were originally designed to be darker and were only later changed due to higher-up pressure shift the blame in a way that makes HYV seem like victims of unfortunate circumstance and not the more likely answer - simple racism on their part. Is it possible they were forced to censor the Natlan cast? Sure, I guess. But which seems more likely, a company with a history of whitewashing and racism deciding to be more inclusive before being forced to retreat, or that same company continuing with their status quo? Genshin has always had issues, from Kaeya's original character description referring to him as "exotic", to Xinyan having a reputation of being scary and off-putting, to the European and East Asian-inspired areas being mainly based on one country each while the Middle East, Africa, and Indigenous Americans are thrown together into two areas despite being composed of vastly different cultures. Star Rail and Honkai 3rd have problems as well, from Penacony being based on the Jazz Age - an era built on Black musicians - while having an entirely light-skinned character roster, to HI3's Carole, the only black/mixed race playable character, being canonically self-conscious of her skin and avoiding anything that would darken it. "Fun" sidenote - Carole's mother, Lewis, is as far as I am aware the only truly muscular and "masculine" woman in the game. Do with that information as you will.

So while it is understandable to not want to have something you enjoy be blatantly racist, you shouldn't use that dismay to try and rationalize a secnario in which it's not their fault. If you really want things to be better, boycott Hoyoverse games - or at least don't spend any money, spread awareness, and push back and make your disappointment known through channels like feedback surveys, e-mails, and in-game support.

I will TRULY never get over this eidolon. Especially since E6 is supposed to be the character in their most vulnerable, or peaceful (I’ve seen both interpretations ^^) state😭😭😭

I tend to interpret the E6 art as the character in their most vulnerable state, so this just… It makes sense, considering he’s in the egg™️ and has no way to defend himself + he’s literally a baby LMFAO

But it also makes me remember that in his character stories he was dreaming about his past life while he was in the egg (“In the dim abyss devoid of light, he seemed to have returned to the insides of a Vidyadhara egg, being ceaselessly churned in tumultuous waves and elusive dreams”) ☹️ really just stabs me in the heart. I don’t blame him for running from his past— even though running is never the best way to deal with things

On top of all that. Reverse 1999 and Dislyte, 2 games by a Chinese company have AMAZING rep from what I’ve seen and heard. They have a diverse cast and not only do they have a large variety of skin tones for their characters but their designs aren’t sexualised (*cough* Raiden and Yae Miko *cough*)

And most of those characters are getting whitewashed by the company still!! Sure we have some character that DO have darker skin. But the art that the company posts of them, you’ll usually find them whitewashed.

I’ve seen people say they should be happy with Iansan.

Why?? That’s one character with darker skin in a nation based off of countries with people with darker skin.

Their skin colour is more ashy as well (as stated from other people I’ve seen, so correct me if I’m wrong there)

If you’re going to take inspiration from various countries for your game. AND make characters based on said countries, represent them better. Don’t just make them white when the people from those countries aren’t.

There’s good aspects to Genshin. The music and landscapes. Animation too. People can enjoy the game for that reason and still criticise the game.

I have actually seen this as an excuse and it honestly confuses me so much. Do people genuinely think that the Natlan cast isn’t mostly white people?? I hope not…

Natlan AND Sumeru are both nations based of countries that have people with darker skin. Yes you may find a white person in those countries too but that shouldn’t be your excuse of why there’s such a lack of diversity in those nations. If there’s a diversity in the countries their based off of, so should the in game nation.

I’ve seen people saying they like the characters design and think there pretty and that’s fine!! Can’t fault you for liking a characters design. I also do find some of the designs pretty. I will admit. It’s when you defend their designs when it becomes a problem. Just cuz you like a characters design doesn’t mean you can ignore the lack of diversity for PoC.

Apparently the ZZZ team have talked about their dislike about this whole mess. Which hopefully means they’ll do better but it is also the same company.

I’ve seen a good few concept art of characters who DO have darker skin tones but apparently genshins higher ups made them lighter. Can’t fully confirm that but I have seen concept art with characters with darker skin tone.

What do you love most about Venti?

Unironically, everything.

Hoyoverse could reveal that Venti is the Unknown God or some outrageous shit tomorrow and I would still love him. There's so much about him that I feel a lot of players simply don't get and it's partial blame to hyv for making him the comic relief in most limited events or only having him show up as a cameo. You'll remember how we all felt during this year's Windblume which is a conversation for another time.

Personality wise, Venti is just so refreshing. He's playful, he's witty, he can be sarcastic but beneath all of that is a old god that's grieved much like the other Archons. He cares so genuinely about Mondstadt and just wants peace. He doesn't even demand freedom (as he said to Dvalin at the end of Mondstadt's Archon Quest) and that's what he's all about.

I know there's things Venti is hiding considering he's hinted at almost everywhere (the Chasm letter still gets me) and I just want to know more. I want to know why he's the only Archon at this point in time not to have a second story quest, I want to know why there's more to him that meets the eye and so much more.

It's pretty upsetting that people just dumb him down to being a drunkard and even incompetent, tbh. Haven't we really only seen him get like really drunk like once, and then after that there hasn't really been a emphasis on that, it's just that he really likes wine?

Regardless, I just love everything about Venti and we need more content involving him because what we have now isn't cutting it because he's so important to the story whether someone likes it or not.

okay so thinking about scaramouche and furina earlier today got me thinking, once *again*, about the horror that is The Raiden Shogun.

maybe she didn’t cry upon birth, but i do believe that with the hundreds of similarities between her and scara’s voicelines and the way that she acts separately from Beelzebul (Raiden Ei who everyone keeps calling Baal i just had to slip this in here that is NOT her name) that she has full consciousness but has, like scara, been taught that she is Empty and that her only purpose is her service to her god, her *mother* who gave her life simply so she would not have to risk her own, who periodically takes over her consciousness and forces her into the back corners of her own mind so that Beelzebul may use the shogun’s body as she wishes, who encourages us to get behind her because she is ‘only a puppet’ and thus *expendable*. who, instead of shouldering the blame of not properly taking care of her people, pushes the responsibility off on the daughter who has only ever done as she asked.

i love Ei, really i do, but i wish we acknowledged more often how genuinely evil her actions are. and yes, she has her reasons. everyone in genshin does (i would like to say minus Dottore but hyv will probably give him a sad boy backstory TM), but the horror that the Shogun has experienced for the last 500 years should not be ignored.

When people say the "boycott has fail" I feel that is because they have this idea that all of Hoyoverse fans are whalers. I mention this on another user ask box. I have been playing Genshin since the second Lantern rite but I stopped playing during Fontaine.

In that period I pulled for 15 limited 5 star characters. And I have only spent money on Cyno after that I saved up and skip banners that I can wait next time. People who do whale it because they want c6 characters and make their team so OP and do one shots. But I have friends who have c0 characters and with proper built they can still achieve that same level of OP as a c6 character. It won't be powerful but enough to clear out domains and battles

Exactly!! I used to be a heavy whaler, but I never c6’d a character, I’ve also just been playing since theeeee 3rd patch of genshin I believe, but like all my friends who play? Girl they barely spend any money, and now that spend NONE.

The majority of players are people who are at most getting the battle pass, and welkin, and maybe spending some when the shop refreshes around hyv’s anniversary. Most players are not big spenders, let alone whales. While whales contribute a shit ton of money, even whales are either quitting, or boycotting too- or just moving to other games, which I can’t blame them. You can achieve batshit insane dmg with well built characters, and good teams- and even whales understand that to a degree, so like… they’ll be fine without a c6 r5 character.
