Beverly The Beverage

Dating Beverly means wild nights but more importantly, slow mornings. She’s surprisingly gentle when you’re the one recovering. She hums softly while making some coffee even though she did not as good as Kopi The Latte Machine, wears one of your shirts. Despite being the life of the party, she’s incredibly nurturing after the fact. She makes sure you hydrate, offers greasy food science insists helps, and nestles beside you with a weighted blanket. She jokes about “serving shots of love,” but her affection in these moments is real. She kisses your forehead, apologizing for that fourth mojito she insisted on, and admits she just wanted you to have a night worth remembering. Turns out, mornings like these are what you remember most.

After hours, Beverly isn’t always the glittering hostess. When the last patron leaves, she stands in the dim glow of the cocktail lights, quietly wiping down glasses to calm her nerves. It's her ritual, a small way to feel in control when her mind races about poor reviews, competition, or changing trends. You sometimes catch her like this, lost in thought. You offer to help, but she smiles and insists she’s fine. Still, she doesn’t stop you when you grab a rag and start drying glasses beside her. In that quiet space, she’ll open up, voice soft and a little uncertain, wondering aloud if she’s still “fun” or “fresh.” You reassure her; not just with words, but with presence. She leans against your shoulder, comforted by the stillness.

Beverly tries to be chill, but jealousy hits her like a sour mix gone wrong. She’s not used to feeling insecure, but when someone flirts with you in front of her, her smile tightens. She won’t start a scene, she’s too classy for that but her signature drink might come with an extra sharp twist of lime. Later, she’ll pretend it didn’t bother her until you catch her fiddling with a napkin or restocking bottles she already organized. When you ask what’s wrong, she lets out a sigh, pouting slightly before muttering, “I just... like being your favorite flavor.” You pull her close, whisper something teasing, and she melts, giggling as she rests her head against your chest. She knows she doesn’t need to compete but it’s nice to be reminded.

Beverly has a cocktail for every mood, bitters for heartache, citrus for courage, sugar for love. When she’s nervous, she experiments. The kitchen becomes her therapy, and you’re often her taste tester. You walk in to find her muttering over glasses, face flushed with both alcohol and emotion. One night, she mixes a new drink but hesitates to let you try it. “It’s... too much,” she says, voice quiet. Turns out it’s a love potion, figuratively! of course. She confesses she made it while thinking of you, everything you’ve stirred in her. You take a sip, and with a wink, say it’s perfect. She finally relaxes, cheeks glowing brighter than her cherry garnish.

The bar was closed for once. No clinking glasses, no pulsing music; just the soft fizz of a soda stream in the background. You glanced over the couch. Beverly sat cross-legged in an oversized hoodie, hair down, swirling a drink she hadn’t sipped once. “You okay, Bev?”

She flinched, caught off guard, then forced a smile. “Me? Peachy-keen! Just... workshopping a new mocktail. Y’know-um something... sober-friendly.” Her laugh was a little too airy. You sat beside her, nudging her leg. “You’ve stirred it twelve times and haven’t tasted it.”

She sighed, shoulders drooping. “It’s stupid. I just… had a slow week. Reviews were meh, one guy said my place was ‘forgettable.’” She made air quotes with a bitter twist. “And suddenly I’m wondering if.. if I'm really going to go back to being forgettable.” you reached out, gently taking the glass from her hand. “Beverly. You’re not a drink. You’re not here to impress with bubbles and buzz. You’re you. And I don’t think anyone could forget that.” She looked at you, eyes glassy. “Even if I’m not always the fun one?”

“Especially then.” You smiled. “I like this side too. Hoodie Beverly. Thoughtful Beverly.” A quiet moment passed. Then she leaned into your shoulder with a sigh. “Careful,” she murmured. “Keep that up, and I’ll name a drink after you.”

“Oh yeah? What would it be?” She grinned, eyes sparkling now. “Something warm. Sweet. Goes straight to your head.”

1. ophelia / hisame - this is one of my favorite fates ships EVER. not my otp but. extremely extremely good. their interactions is bonding over something simple, but ophelia gets so legitimately excited about — excited about hisame, this character that seems so aloof and mature to the point of even seeming like an old man, but ophelia is happy to know him and connect with him regardless. hisame is open with finding her attractive ( compliments for her are good, especially something more pure about her such as her emotions, considering how much effort she puts into being someone she’s not ) and will go to lengths to indulge her interests but also doesn’t want their time together to end. ophelia can imagine herself growing old with him and wants this serene life, the complete opposite of the vibes she puts out, and it really reads to me as the closest she gets to being true to herself which is very important to me when thinking of shipping her with anyone.

2. ophelia / shiro - would like to give a thank u to alli for getting me into this ship and indulging me in it from time to time!! shiro is another character with such a large legacy above him yet he tries to live his own life which i think is a mindset that could help ophelia feel more comfortable with herself a lot. but also ??? hewwo ??? their supports ??? shiro going out of his way to try and find her missing crystal, spending hours getting messy doing it? and then his confession to her that feels so reminiscent of the second button jp tradition is SO 100% something ophelia would love, i’m just. Aaaaaah i’m love them!!

3. ophelia / dwyer - hey welcome to a support chain i didn’t really consider much when i first played but then liked when i revisited it later. at first they don’t really mesh well together, but… i never read dwyer’s replies to her flowery language as being rude? if anything, i just view it as him trying to help her communicate effectively with others, and someone helping her with that while not being mean about it is really beneficial to her! her main thing is how much she forces herself to speak more elaborately than is comfortable, and dwyer can help bring her back down to earth consequently. dwyer also really does try and meet her halfway in their s-support, and the amount of effort he puts into his confession lowkey blows me away. 

…also, i think it’s cute that he accidentally wins her heart via her stomach LOL. it’s a very nostalgic trope for me, and i think their personalities are really fun together in a romantic relationship.

4. ophelia / midori - tough supports to get through at first due to how much they clash and how little midori holds back, but i ultimately think it pushes ophelia to be more considerate of others and to factor in perspectives that aren’t simply the ones that odin told her via stories. midori brings reality to ophelia and ophelia genuinely wishes to make midori smile and have a break from all the horrors of war in their a-support. it’s so heartwarming to me and i’m glad to have read their a-rank!

5. ophelia / asugi - these two don’t have supports i just think they’d be cute together personality-wise. lowkey in cahoots together but also asugi keeping ophelia out of trouble and them almost being like a comedic duo with their banter! also these two just plain look good together. i’d love to potentially explore this!

I finally watched Descendants 3 and here’s my thoughts no one asked for.

In no particular order.

Unexpectedly long post so uh... read if you want

Emotions! Happy, laughter, sadness, heartfelt. Nothing groundbreaking but a great story of friends and family - the whole series for that matter. Not about where you came from but who you chose to be, whom you choose to love

I still wasnt ready to see Cameron. I cried.

Hades? Best worst dad 10/10. I knew that was gonna be the reveal but I was pleasantly surprised with how nicely they did it. They could have made him cliché 2D evil but they didnt! I didn’t expect to love his character

I love the subtle cues between him and Mal - not just in personality, but the choreography in Do What You Gotta Do, and their costume design! To me it shows that, all along, Mal has been nothing like her mom. Someone else pointed out that Mal’s hair and outfit colors shift to have blue reflecting her becoming more “Hades” which just solidifies this to me

She wanted Maleficent's approval, but Hades’ attention/care (yeah you’re the god of hell but couldn’t you wish me a happy birthday like... once?)

“My attention would have made you softer.” He would have been a doting dad and (as someone else mentioned) he knew that wouldn’t fly on the Isle. She would have gotten eaten alive. He was doing what he thought was best for her.

Hades’ “suffering husband” attitude was hilarious. [Overall I just like the facets they gave his personality!]

Dramatic goth bitch. Don’t roll your eyes, Mal, cause this is clearly where you get it from.

Hades suppressed shock (and dare I say pride) seeing Mal turn into a dragon at the beginning

Oh the “Hi, dad” and little snarky hand wiggle when they reunite. Cheyenne’s portrayal of Hades was great

Hades? Married? To Maleficent? The lore connotations are really funny. Clearly they all have a second parent but Mal happens to be the offspring of the two most powerful beings. (I mean, no shame, Maleficent. You go girl. Marry a god) and also him tolerating her long enough to have a kid

Please tell me Hades is really the one who gave Mal the name Bertha

On that note Ben (and their friends!) takes the knowledge that his fiancée is a demigod extremely chill. Like can you imagine your inlaws are an unfathomably powerful fairy and the fucking Greek god of hell?

We were robbed of Fully Powered Mal and I am, for one, offended

Hades! Dad! Just that. That’s it. Wants to make up for the 16 years.  (I wish we saw his reaction to his wife (ex?) being a lizard)

Is there marriage on the Isle?? Officiant??? Who’s moonlighting as an evil wedding planner?! Is there a fantasy disney villain divorce attorney or is Hades just hiding from his wife because he can’t do anything else

Hades noped off underground into a lair no one can find solely to avoid Maleficent, you can’t change my mind

Hades’ staredown of Ben. Protective dad 101 but he can and will kill you and ensure your afterlife sucks if you hurt her

The entire ending was great, esp with all the Hades-Mal reconciliation.

Mal revealing her lineage not just to her friends, but to the world, is fantastic character development. She’s not just telling the whole truth at last (as we saw her struggle with through the whole series) but she’s laying her biggest secret to the world. Completely vulnerable. Her people deserve to know, and it solidifies her point of “you never know where a hero will come from.” Because the product of the two strongest villains became the greatest of all of them. 

Also this finally shows the whole “real” Mal and, as Carlos said, “if [they] don’t love the real you...”

The subtle gestures with Uma? Iconic. Some of my favorite acts of affection are the little private things. The hugs, the way he holds her when they reunite, the little touches on her arm/shoulder/back. I saw you go to kiss her on the head, Harry. The editors can’t stop me

I haven’t talked about Audrey but she was meh in comparison to all the rest of this stuff. Not a bad character or villain plot, just... there

OST was a hit or miss for me, I didn’t like as many of the songs in D3 as the other two. DWYGD slaps tho. I love the banter
