Unexpected August 2020

As one of the pioneering exam takers to take the NMAT online, it was definitely more convenient rather than traveling to another island or city to take the NMAT on paper. My online NMAT experience went swiftly. I am just glad there weren’t any WiFi connectivity issues during the 4 hour exam last August 12, 2020.

Many people could have had expected me to study because we are still in quarantine and what could I possibly be busy with? Well, in my house, daily house chores are important and my love for film was even more revived than when I was still in college. 

I have spent more time watching films than reviewing for the NMAT. Lol. But I realized that the exam date was coming real soon, I decided to focus my energy on reviewing for 2 weeks before I take the exam. 

What percentile score could I expect to have with a two-week-review? I was expecting to have 30-40 percentile. But (thanks heavens!) I actually got a grade of than is more than the standard 60 percentile for the medical school I applied to. 

Next step, is waiting for the final call to be accepted or not.

è risaputo che la parte più difficile di un qualsiasi discorso sia l’inizio. l’introduzione o l’inizio di un libro. bisogna trovare le giuste parole per attirare l’interesse di qualcuno, evitando di perdersi in chiacchiere come sto facendo io.

innanzitutto, vorrei che questo blog avesse dei caratteri riconoscibili, ad esempio: eviterò il più possibile l'utilizzo delle maiuscole.

.Eloyn; è il nome della protagonista delle storie che troverete in questo blog. una ragazza, un ragazzo? beh, importa davvero?! a me non importa. può essere me, te... ognuno di noi, che vive e racconta emozioni di vario genere.

il nome, che può suonare curioso, nasce da qui:

/Elyon/ + story + hero/heroine 

“story” la parola chiave di questo blog;

Elyon (da Wikipedia): è uno dei nomi ebraici di Dio, tradotto nella Bibbia con “l'Altissimo”.

“hero/heroine” è davvero importante che questo personaggio abbia un carattere distintivo forte. oltretutto i suoni di “Eloyn” ed “heroine” si somigliano. un po’ come “Harley Quinn” ed “harlequin”

tra le lettere di questo nome, ci sono nascosti molti altri pensieri meno rilevanti per una presentazione.

Made Some Very Minor Changes to the Blogs Appearance

This is just an update for those who may be curious but I finally got around to making some minor changes to my very minimalistic looking blog. I finally added a stat and hit counter! I never really had the time before to edit my blog but I thought now is a better time then any to do so. This is just a minor change but I wanted everyone to know that it was done. It shows how many people are on the blog at any given time and counts how many times someone has visited. At least now it’s more like a blog and I can follow statistics. Let’s be honest though I was doing this all for the fun anyway. I also added color to the accents on the blog such as the scroll bar, navigation dots, and the pages at the bottom of the page. I hope you guys like these small minor changes.

S10: Música y las personas que me la dieron.

El día de ayer me dejo pensando en la sobrecarga sensorial en la que vivía antes de que iniciara la cuarentena, bueno, en la que aún vivo si soy sincero. Debe haber sido una experiencia de vida muy distinta tener que esperar dias o semanas para escuchar una pieza de música que te había llamado la atención, pero eso tambien significaba que eras más propenso a desarrollarle cariño a las diez o veinte canciones que conocias. Escribiendo esto me acuerdo de mi papá y lo extraño que se me hace cada que, en una fiesta, se acerca el mariachi a preguntar si queremos una canción y el responde con algún titulo que nunca había escuchado. Lo que me impresionaba era que se sabía todas ‘las famosas’, pero ahora tiene un poco más de sentido si asumimos que no tenía acceso a mucha más música.

Incluso hasta hace dos años yo no tenía acceso a tanta música, comencé a pagar mi suscripción de Spotify hasta hace año y medio. Antes de eso cada que salía a manejar en el carro o me ponía a trabajar en la biblioteca elegía uno de los veinte discos que tenia en la librería de mi teléfono y procedía a escucharlo una y otra vez. Era raro en verdad que añadiera un disco a esa biblioteca que cargaba conmigo desde la preparatoria (hace ya cinco años): si no me falla la memoria he de haber añadido seis albumes en cinco años.

Y no es que no me guste escuchar música, al contrario, escucho música y OSTs todo el tiempo. No escucho múcha musica, hay música que escucho mucho. Y es que muchos de los albumes que estan ahí son cosas que en verdad me gustan, música que puedo escuchar tres o cuatro horas sin interrupción. Esa música es una parte muy importante de mi personalidad porque yo siento que es muy cercana a mi, por eso a veces me da miedo compartirla con otras personas.

Incluso hay algunos de esos discos que son todavía mas especiales: los que me recomendo alguien más. Lo bonito de ver esa biblioteca es que muchos de esos discos los puedo asociar en mi memoria a alguien, alguien que quiza no he visto en años o con quien nunca he vuelto a tener contacto, pero me dejaron una parte de si. El único disco de Zoé que tengo lo descargué para una de mis primeras citas porque ella menciono en algún punto que le gustaba Zoé y fue lo primero que encontre; el tragico Somewhere at the Bottom of the River between Vega and Altair lo tengo porque un amigo me mostró The Last Lost Continent y a la parte edgy/sad de mi cerebro le encanto; y luego esta Time´s End.

En mi primer semestre de licenciatura conocí a una chava llamada Gabriela, no recuerdo mucho de ella. Un día me convencio de ir a la Sala Nezahualcoyotl a ver Sherezade, la función comenzaba a las 7-8 pm pero llegamos a CU como a las 3. No había mucho que hacer realmente, recuerdo que caminamos medio CU buscando comida al ritmo de La Marcha de las Valkirias y que me enseño una canción llamada Terrible Fate, parte de un album remix de la musica original de The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Fue una muy bonita coincidencia que me gustaran mucho los juegos de Zelda, pero nunca había jugado Majora’s Mask. Aún así, la música me encanto, tenía un cierto sentido de paz y nostalgia, una tranquilidad que encuentras despues de un día lluvioso. Compré los dos discos de Time’s End, y Gabriela se cambió de escuela terminando ese semestre. Nunca la volvi a ver, no he sabido nada de ella desde entonces. Se fue para siempre, pero su música se quedo conmigo.

Hoy recorde eso, y Terrible Fate sigue evocando esos mismos sentimientos dentro de mi.

S12: Dicotomía

Saque a pasear a mi perra en la mañana, a esa hora normalmente habría una multitud de carros rodando por ambos lados de la calle, pero ahora pasa a lo mucho uno por minuto. A la distancia se escucha el ruido de un camión pasando por otra calle cercana, a un señor lavando su carro del otro lado de la calle y a los pájaros que anidaron sobre las palmeras cerca de la gasolinera. Estos son los sonidos que normalmente no escucharías porque son devorados por los motores, los cláxones y las personas. Es una melodía que toca en un tono tan bajo que el resto del mundo tiene que callarse para poder escucharla.

Y aquí estoy, con mi perra, en el camellón escuchando y me doy cuenta de lo pacífico que el mundo se encuentra en este momento. Excepto que eso no es verdad, hay un asesino invisible recorriendo todas las calles del mundo, ha matado a miles ya y la única forma que tenemos de enfrentarlo por ahora es ocultarnos de él. Si esto fuera una guerra muchos dirían que ya nos rendimos, pero el costo humano de salir y pretender que seguimos en pie es muy alto. Un día vendrá, con suerte muy pronto, en el que finalmente encontraremos el arma correcta para vencer a este asesino, pero por ahora no tenemos otra elección que escondernos y hacer la menor cantidad de ruido posible. Afortunadamente no ha atacado a nadie cercano a mí, pero cada día que pasa esa posibilidad aumenta. Incluso salir a la calle con Camelia por cinco minutos puede darle la ventana que necesita para encontrarme a mí. Veo el camellón vacío, siento el viento paseando sin trabas por mi piel, oido a los pájaros despreocupados, y aún así se que el mundo es más peligroso que ha sido en toda mi vida.

¿Cómo reconciliar esto? Sé que salir al mundo exterior podría significar mi muerte, pero es en este momento donde el mundo esta calmado precisamente por ese miedo cuando siento una inexplicable necesidad de salir a conocerlo. No me gusta el mundo como es normalmente, es ruidoso, agresivo y violento, pero extrañamente ahora es incluso mas peligroso. ¿Cómo puede ser un mundo tan pacifico y en calma más peligroso que uno violento y ansioso?
