I really doubt google's giving me a good translation for the story summary for the Touhou 20 announcement and it's confusing me... could you do us all a favour? 〜 ストーリー 〜幻想郷に何かが起きていることは感じていた。しかし、その事に気付く者は僅かだ。 明らかに異常な反応を見せていたのは、聖域、すなわち山の麓に存在するアンタッチャブルな地と異変の力だった。 今まで解決してきた異変の力を纏って、彼女は聖域に挑む。(Also what are your thoughts on the announcement so far any theories and predictions?)

東方錦上京 〜 Fossilized Wonders

錦上京 is pretty hard to give a snappy translation without context. At face value, 錦上 means "fine dress" and "above" and would be short for the idiom "to put flowers on top of a fine dress", meaning "to make something beautiful even more beautiful". Meanwhile 京 is "capital city". So it could be paraphrased as like "Beautified" or "Resplendent Capital".

However, 上京 also means "going to the capital", so it could be "going to capital in fine dress" or along those lines. Or both of these options. I doubt there'll be anything to settle which one it's "supposed" to be, but mentally I'm going to treat the former as the main meaning with the latter as a side note.

Note that I'm not personally familiar with the 錦上 idiom or anything else it might be alluding to. Basically going by dictionaries here.

One could feel that something was happening in Gensokyo. However, only a few people would realize. The strange feeling was clearly coming from the Sanctuary, i.e. the untouchable region in the foothills of the mountain, and the power of an incident. Taking with her the power of incidents she'd resolved in the past, she set out towards the Sanctuary.

Spiritual sequel/spinoff for CDS, clearly.

The translation "taking with her" for 纏って feels a bit clunky. The verb used is somewhat ambiguous about how active/voluntary it is, and there'd be a more apt translation if we could be more sure about the details. But it's a safe bet it's at least referring to the rocks they're carrying.

This menu is titled "Change what Incident Stone you have equipped". That Main Story Stone should really be "Main Incident Stone". (And that text at the bottom is just the difficulty selection, with "Gemstone Level" as this time's playful name for Normal difficulty.)

The Main Incident Stone selected here is named Blue Season, and "is loaded with the madness that lurks at the back of all seasons. The power hidden within will certainly open up a hole in the Sanctuary." So it clearly represents the Four Seasons Incident somehow. The rocks also come with Incident Attacks that seem more or less in line with the season, animal spirit or ability card attacks from recent games, as a secondary bomb of sorts. The other screenshots show that you can have four equipped, including duplicates and bigger and smaller images of the same rock.

Other than that, I don't have very specific speculation of my own at the moment. Obviously everything related to Youkai Mountain is packed with options. Izanagi Objects seem like a gimme.

The Japanese title, the English title and the skyline on the logo all bring to mind the Animal Realm, but while they could be involved, I don't really think it's going to be another animal spirit-centric game.

And it could finally be the "large hollow cavity where a futuristic utopia just like the outside world is being built". Which is actually a bit funny, because the mere suggestion makes me think "But if is that, ZUN's being weirdly obvious about it here", as if this wasn't a single line in PMiSS we're talking about. Real xkcd 2501 hours.

I tend to not really play the games, but follow them very closely. Looking forward to getting three more characters again less than a month from now. Always one of the best times to be in this fandom.

is there a way aside from having a tension ring to make crochet less hand-hurty (so to speak)? its something i wish to learn but i have chronic hand+wrist pain, so even just making a simple chain (the only thing i learned so far) can leave my hands hurting for over a day

Honestly, if making a chain hurts to that degree, I'm not sure how helpful my advice would be. My hand/wrist/arm pain was only ever situational when I crocheted for hours on end, for weeks, with little to no real breaks.

That said, what helps me is doing stretches specifically for knitters/crocheters or for carpal tunnel (there's a lot of overlap), and taking a break every hour or so (physically putting down the crochet and doing another non-arm intensive activity).

Aside from the tension ring, I've also got this ergonomic crochet hook handle (Amazon link) that helps because the round shape means my hand stays in a more "relaxed" position. I crochet with the handle in the palm of my hand (knife grip), so if you crochet another way (like pencil grip), it might not work as well.

I've been crocheting since around 2011-12 I think, so 12 years now. I made a few Pokemon around that time and for a few years, but in a different style than what I do now (some tagged under #older pokes). I started this project officially on May 1 2017 with the goal of crocheting each Pokemon as a small amigurumi. It's been 7 years of on-and-off crocheting towards that goal!

Hi I hope this isn’t an insensitive question but how did you learn English? Did you grow up speaking it or did you make a conscious effort to learn at some point? Sorry I rly don’t know much about Italy and whether it’s common to know English there 😅 anyway I hope you’re having a good day!

HI no worries, it's a very normal question to ask!

Learning English is very common in Italy (it's a mandatory subject through at least 10 years of schooling, depending on your specific schooling path) but fluency is relatively rare; I'd say that most people leave school with a B1 level knowledge at best, and even younger people who are very on social media aren't necessarily fluent. (*)

(*) Admittedly my sample size is skewed bc I tutor kids in English on the side.

I feel like all the fandombrained Italians on tumblr are very fluent and we all have a similar origin story of starting to watch english language shows in our early or mid teens. Personally, my motivation for learning English outside of school was that I absolutely NEEDED to read all the available Wheel of Time novels and the translations weren't coming out fast enough, but I also remember manually translating lyrics to songs I liked and wanted to learn more about it (thank u Green Day!) and wanting to catch up with Gossip Girl episodes as soon as they aired in the US.

Pre-Netflix taking off (I'm talking like late 00s/early 2010s) there were so many sites dedicated to sharing english language TV shows with different language subtitles, and while you don't have to learn the language to follow along to a subtitled video, I would bet that so many of my Italian mutuals picked up English from Supernatural.

Anyway, I think the thing that really made very, very good at English was writing directly in it, and often. Thank u AO3 <3

i'm just reviewing anon's questions, because i haven't answered them in a few days, and i just have this thought that some of you have never even attempted to study the sources and are counting on a random account on tumblr to show you the way to a miracle and guide you - at a time when you should be guiding yourself and you should be your own miracle. practically everyone's perspective of the law will be a little different, because they use it on their own terms in their own reality, and yall should do the same!!!! create your own "rules", create your own reality and let yourself be in your own way.

don't get me wrong - i'll still answer questions or whatever, because i know some things may seem difficult and i want to help, but my point is that you should at least try to discover the law on your own, before you ask a question ask yourself if by any chance you already know the answer to it? you are the operating power and everything comes from you so why instead of discovering it on your own you wait for a random blogger on tumblr to answer it?

these are just my random thoughts, bc i got some questions "how to manifest" "what should i do"🤨🤨you know answer for this, bc answer for this is always the same, nothing changes!!
