Farcille (vaguely inspired by) Howl's Moving Castle AU with Marcille as Sophie and Falin as Howl. Marcille is working with the Canaries to infiltrate a moving dungeon governed by Dungeon Lord Falin.

The other main characters are there too, like Chilchuck and Senshi (who both got trapped in the dungeon ages ago & now help with its upkeep), Thistle (who Falin overtook Dungeon Lord status from a few years ago; now he's kind of like their collectively pseudo-adopted little brother who is also a massive shit and needs therapy ASAP), Izutsumi (a newer addition; she came looking for a cure for being a beastman and ended up getting stuck), and Laios (who's basically Calcifer in this AU.....he's got an especially bad curse on him bc he made an unwise deal with the Demon). The orcs are there too---they've been trapped in the dungeon for generations. Kabru is her outside contact and go-between for the Canaries, specifically Mithrun's squadron.

There are a load of rumors about the new Dungeon Lord, mainly bad ones, but supposedly she'll help you break curses if you give her something of equivalent exchange. The stories are greatly exaggerated; Falin does her best to help anyone who accidentally or purposefully enters the dungeon escape before they're trapped into a contract with the Demon, but she can't save everybody. Izutsumi is one such case.

She is also cursed herself! She's slowly turning into a chimera/dragon and if she doesn't find a way to break her and her brother's curse before the transformation is complete, the Demon will own her forever (something similar happened to Thistle, who's been trapped in the dungeon for centuries).

Marcille enters the dungeon under the guise of being a random stranger seeking to break the curse on herself. She's there to help the Canaries destroy the whole thing and everyone in it. Perhaps she volunteered for the mission to feed her research in ancient magic, or perhaps she was volun-told because of her proficiency in explosive spells (AKA how the Canaries plan to shut the whole place down). In any case, the more she spends time with these people, the more she realizes that she reeeeeeaaaally doesn't want to see them all die by her own hand.

This AU has been occupying a permanent corner in my brain for months now, send help.........

I just saw a TikTok just now about “how to become a witch,” with a list of steps for beginners to follow. The first two things on the list were to buy books on witchcraft, and then to buy a bunch of materials. So here’s me reminding you that you don’t need to buy anything to become a witch. Sure, buying the tools is fun and all, but it isn’t a requirement to getting started. Witchcraft is a spiritual practice, not a consumerist hobby.

The baby Yozakuras are so cute ahhhhhhhh <3 I can't get over how little they are! I guess they'd all be 5 and under in this video, which explains why they're so itty-bitty. Even Kyoichiro is adorably tiny. And is Goliath biting Kyoichiro's leg??? I guess the "guard dog" aspect only applies when you're not Kyoichiro ahakdhjkahsdahjdha.

Futaba being told to keep the video a secret from Kyoichiro makes sense—if Kyoichiro knew the video existed, it would ruin the impact when it does end up being shown. It's also possible that Rei simply wanted to keep it a surprise, so she asked Futaba to hide it from all the Yozakura siblings. After all, the only time this video would ever need to be shown at the wedding reception would be if the Yozakura mom was no longer around to attend the reception herself. Maybe Rei asked Futaba to hold onto it without telling anyone until the time was right—to keep Kyoichiro in line, yes, but also to pass along one last message to her beloved children.
