I have pretty bad social anxiety, which gets interesting working retail. I also do not tolerate men raising their voice at me even a little, it shuts me right down really bad.

But sometimes you get customers, often men, who raise their voices to get what they want because they can just tell that they can scare you. And there's exactly one thing that works to negate that fear for me, and it's telling myself "Okay. You're in an interrogation. This guy needs you to break to get sensitive information out of you. Under no circumstances let him take even an inch." And I am nothing if not stubborn, so it immediately turns me into a brick wall. And let me tell you these types of guys have NO fucking clue how to deal with it when you refuse to budge for them.

Consuming anything that’s artificially meant to boost your intake by thousands of calories is, shocker, probably gonna be hard on your body in some form or another. No such thing as a free lunch.

Like just PLEASE do your research on anything you’re gonna be putting into your body, especially in large quantities for gaining purposes. Make informed decisions.

But also acting like one single product is some boogeyman - or that you’re specially enlightened for having that perspective - is wild.

I should say in general I don't mind people being attracted to/appreciating my characters in this way. I just see it as a big compliment that someone could like them that much. This extends not just to the bodyguards but to Myriad and me. I just appreciate the compliment.

Did you ever expect your RTN au to become such a big universe? How did it happen? I'm really curious!

I definitely didn't expect it to take off the way it did! It's one of those things where I sometimes sit back, really look at the numbers, and feel a sense of pleasant shock all over again.

For reference, there are just over 100 fics in/bookmarked to the Road to Nowhere Extended Universe collection, a mind-boggling number of artworks posted online or exclusively to the Discord (link here or in the fic notes for anyone interested in joining us!!), and an additional 175k words of RtN-related snippets compiled in the server that haven't been published on Ao3. I can't count the number of times I've read and reread fics/snippets and scrolled through the artwork because I love it all so much. There are so many talented people who've contributed to the universe and I'm lucky to count many of them as my friends now.

As for how it happened... it's hard to say for sure, but I'm guessing it was a combination of a few factors, starting with the way Katoshi works as a character. He's not an OC, but he can kind of function like one: writing Katoshi is different than writing purely Kakashi or Hitoshi, and he even comes with his own unique visual design. It makes it easy to create something that's distinctly RtN instead of vaguer ideas or tropes.

The server has an RtN-AU channel I created for people to go nuts with whatever ideas they wanted to, and I was pretty open from the start that anyone's welcome to write recursive works if they wanted to. My now good friend @asteroid-duck took me up on that, wrote an RtN gift fic for my birthday (that I still reread regularly), and things took off from there! I think it helps that there are a lot of encouraging people in the server that will cheer you on if you're thinking of writing something, and now there's an established audience you can write for.

My attitude towards inspired works is probably another thing, lol. I actively encourage people to create recursive works and have an open policy around it: I'm not going to police what people want to make, I'm not gonna get upset or nitpick if I personally disagree with someone's headcanon or characterization, and I don't expect everything to cater to my own preferences. Sure, I enjoy it most when works include things I like, but I'll just click out if it's not for me.

Anyway, if you're not in the server, you should come check it out! It's a pretty positive and supportive space, and has one of the biggest collections of Kakashi and crossover fans that I'm aware of.
