What is your PhD on? I also have a niche pervert idea that I’d love to get a doctorate in and yeah I’m sure I’d never get a job later on but what matters is that I’d be having fun for 8-10 years and someone else would be funding it.

my phd is on goths in horror films, but specifically on how goth aesthetics are used in horror to challenge social expectations on gender and sexuality (for better or for worse) :)

i'm briddish, so the government funds my pervert research, and the state of academia (ESPECIALLY MEDIA STUDIES) is dying, so i'm sticking to working full time in marketing and doing my pervert research on the side. people in the real world are generally pretty impressed by that, though, so it's gotten me more jobs then not!

hey, guess what? trauma do be doing that to a person, depending on how fresh and serious the mental wound/scar is. Astarion can let it all out during killing Cazador and then be fine for probably a decade or two or it can trigger something so deeply hidden that he won't be able to stop thinking about it and breaking down even when he tries his hardest not to.

trauma and grief works totally different for everyone. maybe stop trying to fit him into a box and act like tears is a sign of weakness and femininity/non-masculinity. crying does not turn men into women (and what kind of logic is it, really? what kind of misogyny is this?).

everyone needs and DESERVES time to heal, especially if they've been bottling it up for literally centuries. Astarion contains multitudes and he deserves to explore the world, feel happy, do what he wants, but also HEAL in every possible (and healthy) way. and if that suits the plot or a scene the author of the artist is going for, then let them have it. there is a HUGE difference between being a crybaby and crying for literally no reason (or throwing a tantrum or whatever) and healing through letting it all out.

and it doesn't need to mean that Astarion weeps all the time. it can be swallowing tears, or blinking the tears away, or a moment of Feeling It and then getting back to more stable mood. but if it does mean weeping once in a while, again, let him have it.

and oh, tears can be there for any reason. pain, anguish, anger, rage. so many reasons, and they're all valid.

stop thinking that healing is a straightforward process and once you've cried once or twice you never cry again about that. some don't. some do. some do years after the event. it's complicated and it's human! it's the way trauma and healing work!

rip...I haven't written in years. But there were hardly any fics of my baby boy, that it literally resurrected me from my coffin. so hopefully someone out there likes it

You tackled Bosch from his midline and swept his feet off the floor to knock him on his back. With a resounding thud, you quickly straddled him between your knees to prevent Bosch from getting back up. You reeled your fists to land blows on his face with practiced speed. Each blow landed with a thud against his forearms, the impact reverberating through Bosch's body.

Bosch sees through the cracks of his arms that you're putting too much force in your punch. Every time you strike him your body is leaning forward, leaving a split second of vulnerability to catch you off guard. So he'll use it against you. As you got ready to throw another punch, he lifted his knee to force your body forward. 

Trying to catch yourself, your arms slammed on the mat next to his face.

Gotcha.

Before you can fully pull your hands back, Bosch grabs them and locks your foot with his leg. And in a swift motion, he reversed your positions and pinned you to the floor instead. But now he has your hands pinned above your head.

With his weight pressing down on you, it created a moment of weakness you hadn't anticipated. Despite your initial confidence, you were taken aback by how easily Bosch took control of your situation.

You can feel your heart pounding in your chest as you felt Bosch's breath hot against your skin. You can also feel the heat radiating off his body and his muscles tensed with exertion. Despite your best efforts to remain composed, embarrassment slowly made it's way up your face.

Bosch stared down at you with a smug grin, relishing in his moment of triumph. "Not so fast." he taunted, his voice laced with arrogance. "You'll have to do better than that to beat me, sweetheart."
