OK THE THING IS ! more often than not, members of a mariachi ensemble WILL KNOW how to play Multiple Instruments (ex: i played both vihuela n violin, old guy friend knew vihuela / guitar / trumpet, n my bestie can literally play every instrument AND SING TOO ??) so i will now proceed to be Fully Normal about the party n about having done mariachi shit in the past. mostly based on vibes tbh (also im anime-only sowwy.)

laios on trumpet + vihuela + guitarron. totally not bc vihuela was the first instrument i ever played wdym. also i want him doing the fancy trumpet flourishes theyre so fuckin pretty, he'd have the lung capapcity for em. alsoalso guitarrones r considered the heart of mariachi. despite how long this'll be im Bad at explaining myself PLUS im anime-only BUT ! he Has Contributed to pushing the story n his party forward. he's also my very special guy who needs to know im available this sunday if hes available n im just wondering hes available on sunday when im available. bc im available. on sunday. (just one night PLEASE MR. TOUDEN.) would also spout trivia like i am this entire post.

marcille on violin (plus harp if theres one around.) mariachi history lesson time ! harps used to be used for the melody section for decades until violins were introduced to the average ensemble n thus were replaced due to the differences in price + maintenance required. violin is also Very Pretty (said the damn violinist) n i think she'd like doing super complex techniques. plus groups usually want multiple violinists to make sure theyre actually heard when playing so the odds of her being needed are higher (shes so me).

chilchuck on guitar + vihuela. prefers guitar but is Capable of playing vihuela. vihuela is Easier to play, but based on Real Life Experiences (💔) theyre harder to find n more costly too so he sticks to guitar for practicality. also i think he'd get annoyed if people mistake his vihuela for a guitar (also based on Real Life Experiences). probably dabbles in other genres since guitar is probable the most versatile instrument here (another reason why he doesn't play vihuela much vsihvshivs)

i want senshi on every damn instrument actually. guitar, vihuela, guitarron, violin, & trumpet. prefers guitarron + vihuela tho. was considering throwing in other instruments that aren't in the ensemble but sometimes thrown in or are from different genres, but i think he'd yell at me for even thinking to deviate vsusvibsbis shit gets controversial sometimes ! also if a man like him ever played violin within my vicinity i think i'd die (affectionate)

erm i dont know falin that well yet but i think she'd play guitar + violin. it'd be cute if she picked up guitar as a kid to be in the harmony section with laios. considered switching the strumming instruments they play (aka the harmony section of a group) but i think the guitar fits better with how soft-spoken she seems. also the girls practicing violin together n doing two diff parts of the same song but blending together perfectly <3 she immediately gets the hang of both instruments. plays more violin than guitar nowadays. was considering assigning her guitarron since the plot (so far at least) is literally about Saving Her but idk.

idk the others that well yet but maybe after all the episodes r out i'll revisit this n assign em shit. input is also appreciated like idk if yall are into mariachi like that but this is primarily based on vibes n yall can read vibes right. ok ty for reading <3

5. Fanfic pet peeves

I hate to be an English teacher about this but improper grammar, punctuation, and paragraph breaks KILL me in fanfic. I know fic is a space for writers to learn and grow but oh man I can't stand it. Sometimes it's not so bad and I literally just rewrite it in my head as I read but especially with dialogue if it's not punctuated properly I will nope out of it.

I also don't care much for first person, and will often nope out of a fic if it's in first person. I really couldn't tell you why. It's like a cat touching a bathtub. I open it, I see the wet, and I get out. I'll only read a first person POV if it comes highly recommended by a trusted friend.

23. Favorite trope to write

It's probably no surprise, but I love an AU. I love taking characters from one setting and putting them into a new setting with new problems.

I used to love high school AUs when I was in school but now writing a high school AU feels like going to work. Even college AUs don't appeal to me. Harry Potter AUs were this super cool blend of school AU and magical AU and I used to love sorting characters but now those have a bad taste, too, so my favorite is probably fairy tale AUs, which I've done for Percy Jackson and am working on for Ladybug.

Funnily enough, I don't read alternate setting AUs too often? When it comes to reading I often prefer like, alternate timelines, more small changes in line with the Harry Potter Everyone Lives AU or other fun potential breaking points from canon.

While Sirius buries all the better parts of himself and flaunts his bad habits like the final sale items in a shuttering shop, Remus displays only his very best habits on carefully dusted shelves and buries his anger, his grief, and his desire in the coldest, darkest of cellars.
