Wakfu Season 4 Gengas: Yugo and the Eliotropes

Here are some eliotrope concept art and character sheets from the Oropo special episode I found from this article which were taken from a 2016 presentation of Dofus 3, a game that would have happened decades after the Dofus game right before Ogrest’s chaos. However, the game completely changed during its production and became Waven instead.

I figured it’d be nice to share them here too since not everyone has access to Twitter or reads numerous online articles.

According to @uelman, the Oma Island visit predates the Wakfu era.

Oropo is present on the Dofus MMO in the years around 640. Although since “One More Gate” (the game about Oropo being stuck in the Eliacube) is set to happen in 710, he was trapped around the time of Ogrest’s chaos. The Siblings would have had to follow his instructions after it happened to cause it.

It also looks like there are some scenes in the work-in-progress footage that could have been actual scenes in the episode.

For example, there is a scene featuring a female eliotrope with an eagle armor, who seems to be encountering a Sadida that looks like Amalia. Additionally, there is a shot of Ripulse opening a portal, with an entity either going in or out of the portal he summoned. And in another, Chibi appeared to be wielding his hammer while enveloped in flames, indicating a possible combo attack with Grougal. These scenes could have been important (excluding Chibi’s lol) but unfortunately, they might have been removed due to budget constraints or creative decisions. It would have been interesting to see these eliotropes have more screen time since these events seemed to have been important to the lore.

I swear if we do manage to get a season 5 with 26 episodes like Tot said, I hope we get to see more flashbacks of Ripulse and the eagle girl. I had initially been expecting them to appear in Season 4, and I was happy for a second since that’s exactly what I wanted, until I realized that Bouillon and Oropo ended up being the ones who took a lot of space inside Yugo’s head. I was disappointed to have only seen them in the back without saying anything.

Let’s hope for that Season 5 ✨

(It just occurred to me that the female eliotrope ended up being the only one between her brothers to not have her name displayed on her character art…This makes me now wonder if Tot even had a name for her at all…Cuz like- Not showing a character’s name in the first episode where they’re introduced is one thing but not having their name in their concept art?? Really???)

It's been a while since season 4 of Wakfu came out and since I don't really have time to do fan art except one with the Great Goddess… Anyway! Since the last episodes yesterday, I had this in mind and it made me sick not to do it so here it is x')

The First Crusader Château

The Château of Bouillon was built in the Middle Ages and is located in the Belgian province of Luxembourg, in what is now the region of Wallonia. Along with Beersel, Corroy, Horst, Ghent, Lavaux and Vêves, it is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the country.

Situated on a rocky spur overlooking the river Semois and the modern town, it belonged to Jofré de Bouillon - who became famous for leading the First Crusade to the Holy Land, though better known in English as Godfrey de Bouillon - who inherited the castle and the lordship from his uncle, also called Jofré, who also bequeathed him the ducal title of Lower Lorraine, under the name of Jofré V.

The first fortifications of the castle were built in the 8th century, while the keep was erected between 1080 and 1090. Its purpose was to protect the duchy of Lower Lorraine, created in the 10th century and strategically located on the Reims-Liège-Aachen axis, which connected the Frankish Empire with Germanic lands.

To finance his participation in the Crusade, in 1096 Jofré agreed to sell the fortress to Otbert, prince-bishop of Liège. On his death in Jerusalem in 1100, the castle became the property of the prince-bishops of Liège and then of the dukes of Bouillon, and remained so until the French conquest in 1794.

In 1134, Raymond de Bar took the castle by surprise, but lost it the same year after a siege by the prince-bishops of Liège. During the wars promoted by the French King Louis XIV during the 17th century, the fortifications were improved by the military engineer Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban (1633-1707).

The fortress could hold up to 200 soldiers and had a reputation for being impregnable. The enemy preferred to use siege tactics to starve the defenders, especially in winter. However, it had access to a source of drinking water and food supplies were hoisted up a 30-metre-deep gallery by a pulley driven by soldiers running on a kind of wooden winch.

In 1815, the duchy and the castle became part of the Netherlands, during which time the keep was destroyed. After the Belgian Revolution of 1830, the surrounding territories became part of the new country. During the Franco-Prussian War, after the Battle of Sedan in 1870, the Prussian army used parts of the castle as a hospital. Today, the grounds are open to visitors and house a museum.
