Amazon Studios has picked up the distribution rights for MY SPY from STX Entertainment and given up on the theatrical release. It is headed to VOD at a $20 price point.  The VOD release date for MY SPY has not yet been announced.    My Spy was originally scheduled for August 23 2019. In July 2019 My Spy was moved to January 9th 2020. The date was later swapped for March 13th 2020. On March 7th, after James Bond moved, the release date got pushed to April 17 2020.  Today, April 8th is when Amazon Studios acquired the distribution rights for streaming. The movie did open in Australian theaters January 9th 2020. And opened in UK theaters March 13th 2020.   Hustlers was STX’s biggest hit last year. Brahms: The Boy 2 (2020) When a family who are suffering with dealing with the trauma of a house robbery need some time away, they go to the Heelshire Mansion, unaware of the mysteries it holds. This is an interesting one to review, as I was quite looking forward to seeing this after the first one was surprisingly pretty good! What followed in the sequel however was far from impressive and manages to take a step in the wrong direction. Brahms is back and tries his best in the depleting field of doll and supernatural horrors. He manages to provide some spooky scenes, a few decent jump scares and a continuous feeling of uncertainty. The problem however is that it ultimately leads to nowhere and ends up being super confusing asking more questions than answers. The first one didn’t really leave room for a sequel so trying to figure one out here must have been like trying to squeeze blood from a stone... and it tells. Despite one of the lead characters not talking throughout, it’s very dialogue heavy, of which again most isn’t very interesting. The acting is pretty standard, Chris Convery plays Jude well who’s Brahms new best friend but there’s no real standout performances here. There’s little to report on the score and not much happens during the film, it contains long drawn out areas and despite only clocking in around 80 odd minutes feels every bit as long. It creates a creepy atmosphere and leads you into some interesting situations but when it comes to executing that knockout punch, fails to deliver. With an ending that’s equalling as disappointing too. Overall, if you enjoyed the first The Boy or are thinking this is going to be a decent sequel, I’d probably stick with just watching the original. I saw Brahms: The Boy II and I'm not mad about it. It was fine. It's a PG-13, which means I won't have nightmares about this movie and the creepy doll. I think all of the horror movies this year that have rolled through Regal have been PG-13 and so I am disappointed that I let Gretel And Hansel get farther away than I'm willing to drive w/o trying it. In addition to Katie Holmes, this movie has Owain Yeoman from The Mentalist and Emergence. If you have avoided this because you fear it will be too scary, don't worry, it's not. If you have avoided this because you fear it won't be scary, or good... You probably don't need to see this. I think the general consensus is that it's better to have not seen the original if you intend to enjoy this one. Lowers expectations as this one rewrites the lore. This one cost $5M so expect the 3rd Brahms The Boy movie in 2 years.
