This is not edible. It's polymer clay. This braided bread pegapiggy was inspired by Pokemon Fidough. I'm so happy with how this turned out. It's so sweet <3

Czech Braided Easter Bread
Tumblr media
“This sweet Easter bread is made from a rich yeast dough. It stands out for its generous amount of butter, which keeps it moist for a prolonged period of time. The dough also contains chopped nuts and raisins, usually soaked in rum or other spirits beforehand.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“After rising, the dough is braided to resemble Pomlázka, the famous Czech Easter whip. On Easter Monday, boys traditionally use the pomlázka to lightly whip girls and women for youth and health. This braided bread also contains an egg, symbolizing the essence of Easter.”

Braided Bread Recipe
Tumblr media
6 cups of flour (it’s going to be split in different sections)
2 packs of yeast
1 1/2 teaspoon of cardamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup (plus an extra 2 tablespoons) milk (it’ll be divided)
1/2 cup of butter, cubed
1/2 cup of honey
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 bag of chamomile tea leaves (optional for dough batter)
Tumblr media
1. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, and salt.
2. In a small saucepan, heat up 1 1/2 cup of milk, butter, and honey.
3. Add to the dry ingredients; beat it up until it is moist.
4. Add eggs; beat it up again until it is smooth.
5. Stir in enough flour until the dough is firm.
6. Flour the surface (and your hands if you’re paranoid); knead until it is smooth and elastic (about 6 to 8 minutes).
7. Place the dough in a grease bowl. Cover it with a towel and let it rise like a rebellion for about 45 minutes.
8. Punch the dough. PUNCH IT!
9. Divide the dough in half and then into thirds.
10. Braid the bread and let it rise for about 30 minutes.
11. Brush it with 2 tablespoons of milk and sprinkle it with sugar.
12. Bake at 375*F until golden brown for about 20 to 25 minutes.
13. Put the bread on wire racks to cool.
Notes: Last time I made this, it made 2 pieces of bread. Good news about that is that my family was planning a BIG dinner, so bread was needed. I also didn’t have cardamon, so I used chamomile, which works well if you like sweeter bread.

Milk bread rolls and a braided cheesy italian bread!
Also, I included some website photos that I use for some of my FAVORITE biscuits. I make these in large batches a lot and freeze them and then thaw them as I need them. They're delicious! Also, they can be made dairy free very easily. You will just need MORE flour when using almond milk and a longer cooking time (this is the only dairy alternative I have tried so far).

SHOKUPAN MARBLED BLACK SESAME BREAD
Not too long ago I got notification of a new blog post by my friend Karen. You can check her post here. She mentioned the yudane method, a kind of tahgzhong on steroids. I am familiar with tangzhong and love it, but yudane was new to me. I could not wait to give it a try. I ended up following this recipe that was linked at the end of Karen’s post. In the tangzhong method, part of the flour is…

Breb
I realized I haven’t shared any of my bread with you folks yet, so here is the huge boy I crafted this evening. Measuring in at the size of about 2 regular bred, he is rather sizable indeed.

well, despite the pain this month being pretty high on the 'bad' scale, and the edibles I made yesterday to combat it being stronger than I meant for them to be (don't grocery shop when you're hungry, and don't make edibles when you're in pain[or something]) my need for bread has somehow driven me out of my blanket and hot pad fortress.
So, I'm going to try and make some brioche with the whey from my paneer-making, and see if it makes a noticeable difference. I'm choosing brioche specifically because it's a semi-sweet bread with butter, and normally milk. OFC there's going to be a flavor difference if I use whey instead of water. But replacing milk with whey is more interesting to me. Hence, brioche.
You didn't need to know that, but as noted above, I am extremely high.
Anyways, thanks @dreadfutures this is your fault.

I'm sure someone has probably pointed this out but I was thinking about how Katniss hunts and Peeta bakes.
Katniss provides through taking a life. Tracking and shooting animals.
Peeta provides though creating. Kneading dough and decorating pastries.
Katniss doing a majority of killing in the games to keep them alive just as she would to feed her family.
Peeta weaving tales like pleteno srce for The Capitol to win them sponsors so they aren't killed in the environment.
There's a reason the two work so well together.
