this is why i’ve been team nick since the beginning 😌

he’s just so attuned to bree’s feelings and emotions and that was when they only knew each other for a few weeks/ months, he cares for her so much and i love it

and the way he was with her in oathbound even though she didn’t know him?? and the way we find out he was YEARNING for her at the end?? to me if it’s only one boy who bree ends up with it’s got to be nick, no way tracy wrote all THOSE scenes and makes selbree endgame

i like sel/bree for its own reasons but bree and nick work so well, they’re perfect together imo and if bree HAS to only end up with one boy i hope it’s nick :))

i am still hoping for brickwyn endgame though bc that makes the most sense in my mind for various reasons, including the end of oathbound which i will not go into but 👀

rereading legendborn and i love how nick is paying so much attention to bree's emotions, realising when she doesn't feel well, asking her to make sure and trying to comfort her. i already knew he's extremely sweet and caring but rereading it just refreshed my memory with all the little moments

Something, something... Bree is the Scion of Arthur and Nick is the Scion of Lancelot. Bree is a king and Nick is her knight, call and response. Bree is a king and Sel is a prince, son of her enemy. Bree is the daughter of Faye and Sel is the son of Natasia, two pairs of kingsmage and king that never happened. Sel wields the crown of the Shadow King and Nick has a shard embedded in his chest. Sel is the kingsmage to a false king and Nick is the king-that-wasn't. The three are tied together irrevocably, they were always meant to end up here.

bree knowing she's loved as she meets everyone, not being able to love them back in the same way because of her memories, BUT choosing to love and support them regardless is just like gorgeous. the amount of hugs she just accepts and goes, yeah I need this, even when she can't do the same in return is perfect

Bree is one of my absolute favorite protagonists in any book I’ve ever read. 🥰 She, Sel, and Nick have some of the best interactions and chemistry. They’re all my fave bbs and I just want them all to be safe and able to live their lives happily together. 🥹🥹

Bree: learns her own power, regains her agency, saves the Rootcrafter girls from her fate at the beginning of Bloodmarked, learns from past mistakes, that it is okay to put yourself first

Nick: Defends Bree while finessing the system that both subjugated him and gave him privilege, then uses his privilege to support Bree to the point where he's set ut up to sacrifice himself at the end.

Sel: Survives demonia, regains his own agency and desires outside of someone's weapon. Steps into his true legacy and heritage.

William: learns to put himself first, and that he is only human, he makes mistakes and has the grace to learn from them, truly learns what it means to be an ally

Mariah: learning how to step into her own power and not to hold herself to a higher standard, that she is enough and that she is powerful in her own right, readjusts her relationship with root and familial connections.

Natasia: a peek in on her and Faye's relationship, the complexity of her relatiinship with her son, the yearning and heartbreak can be translated to that of Sel's for Bree as they are Kingsmages not bout to their rightful charge.

What’s actually genuinely making me explode about Oathbound is how it’s made so fucking clear and explicit just how LOVED everyone is

How Natasia talks about Selwyn after thirteen years as she fights so hard to help him bc he’s her baby and she loves him

Even as he’s mocking and taunting and insulting them, all Bree and Nick do is reassure Sel that he’s not a failure or mistake bc even now even when Bree doesn’t remember him they LOVE him

When William learns about Nicks abuse and vows to be there for him and to never let him think that he isn’t believed in ever again bc he Loves him

When William neglects HIMSELF and Lark insists on going on the quest just to make sure he’s taken care of and protected bc william protects everyone but lark just wants him to be safe bc he Loves Him!!

All the years and decades of love between Valec and Mariah and Hazel and Lu bc they’re a family and have each other no matter what

And Everyone loves Bree!!!so much!!

Mariah, William, Lu and Hazel, Nick… all of them fought to get back to her because of how much they love her!!!

Sel being at the height of his demonia and still clawing and burning himself free to get back to her bc even when it’s warped under all the rage and darkness, he always loves her

Nick’s every word and act and breath being filled with love and affection and trust and call and response for Bree bc he will always find her and fight for her and always always always love her!!
