barty's inscrutability is so funny just because its like. he's winning the repression olympics without even realizing by wrapping his true self away in endless untraversable turns like a conch shell. having a situationship with him is like volunteering to lock yourself in the torture labyrinth bro you are never making it out of there!! you will spend years trying to unravel his feelings and get absolutely nowhere but still constantly feel like you’re on the verge of getting there!!! (reg lived this #survivor)
but just imagine finally meeting the ONE (1) person who has ever managed to lock barty down. and it’s this tiny utterly demented blonde who dresses in lumpy estate sale cardigans and always smells a little bit like formaldehyde and mothballs and the inside of a hearse. he has the thousand-yard-stare and pop culture references of a feral child raised by coyotes because he didn’t have a single interaction with someone his own age (besides his equally strange sister) until he was like 17. he’ll cut you with zero hesitation 🔪. he's the most autistic person youve ever met in your entire life and whenever Notoriously Unattainable™️ Barty Crouch looks at him he’s like please evan let me lay down to be the ground under your feet so you never have to touch the earth again only me forever PLEASE

Bored - SwaggerSouls x Reader
A/N Ehhhh Smut Babiesssssss...MINORS DNI
To say you were bored was an understatement. You'd already cleaned the entire house, Bear and Bean weren't in a cuddling or playing mood, your hyper-fixation show had lost it's appeal and on top of everything, Swagger was busy streaming and couldn't hang out with you.
You'd kept Swagger company during streams before, silently sitting to the side, so you decided to try doing the same today. As long as you stayed quiet you didn't think he'd mind.
Quietly sneaking upstairs so the steps didn't squeak you eased open his office door and tiptoed inside. Swagger noticed you though, turning his head over his shoulder and smiling at you before turning back to his game.
Walking up behind him you put your hands on his shoulders, slightly rubbing them before trailing them down his chest as you pressed your lips to his neck, his head tilting to the side to give them more room to roam.
After a few more kisses you decide to be a little bolder, sinking to your knees behind him and crawling beneath his desk. He didn't initially give it much thought, since that's where you'd keep him company, just being in the same room, both of you needing to be close to each other. It wasn't until he felt your hands on his thighs that he looked down at you, meeting your big beautiful eyes staring back at him, the look in your eyes making his dick harden.
Unbuttoning his pants, he pulls his cock out and you waste no time in wrapping your mouth around it and sinking down, damn near taking him in entirety.
Swaggers hand wrapped in your hair momentarily before stroking your cheek softly and returning to its position on his keyboard. It was almost sexy how well he was able to pretend like you weren't being an absolute whore on your knees for him while he talked with his friends, bantering back and forth.
Every once in a while his hand would find it's way back down to grip your hair, pet you, stroke your face, and sometimes even trying to push you away when he got to close.
Finally you hear his deep voice bid adieu to his friends and stream and his headset falls on his desk as he leans back in his chair and almost growls, wrapping both hands tightly in your hair, letting out loud low moans.
"Fuck yeah. Love you fucking lips on my cock. C'mon, honey, that's it. So perfect for me. So fucking beautiful. Go on, baby, suck that fucking dick..." he muttered, each praise making you go faster until you finally felt him pull you impossibly further as he comes down your throat, his voice almost hoarse as he lets out a final groan.
Once he's done he pulls you up to sit on his lap, looking into your doe eyes as he presses his lips to yours in a kiss.
"Mio bella..." he whispers, beginning to suck a mark on your neck, his hand squeezing your thigh, tickling up your side to tweak your nipple, grazing it back down the valley between your breasts and pressing tight to you as he slipped it beneath your sweatpants.
"Feels like I need to entertain my princess."
A/N Um sorry this ending kinda fucking sucks

dante’s inferno
Tumblr media
request: wassup homie could you maybe write a college au fic where levi and reader are rommies, then one day reader brings home an adopted cat without levi's prior knowledge? You could decide what happens next lol. Tysm 🥺
Tumblr media
❈ pairing: levi ackerman x reader
❈ genre: fluff, semi-crack ❈ word count: 4k
❈ summary: college au. in which you bring a stray cat to your dorm and your neat freak roommate won’t let you keep it.
alternatively: a compilation of college shenanigans where you and levi are best friends who are bad with feelings (ft. an unamused cat named dante)
❈ trigger warnings: profanity. mentions of alcohol and smoking. implied smut.
a/n: this was supposed to be loosely based on the nine circles of hell according to inferno by dante alighieri— hence the title— but i did my research wrong so now it’s loosely based on the seven terraces of purgatory according to divine comedy. i’m keeping the title tho.

i. first terrace: pride
“We’re not keeping it.”
“But why?”
“We’re not keeping it.”
“But why.”
Levi’s tongue clicks in annoyance. His eyes glance next you where the offending creature lay on your bed; tail curling, paws kneading at his your favorite fleece blanket. Quite frankly he’s a little offended when the little shit has the audacity to glare at him back.
He’ll never admit it, but his ego’s a bit bruised because the cat’s glare was slightly better than his.
“I said no,” he firmly replies, looking back to you. “It’s bad enough I have to share a room with an anarchist who has no respect for boundaries—“
“One time, I forgot to use a coaster that one time!”
“—and now you expect me to share a room with a dirty fur ball who does nothing but eat, shit, and sleep?”
“He’s a cat, Levi.” You murmur, scooping the cat into your arms. “And he has a name,” you give a nervous smile when you see your rommate grit his teeth. He feels a headache coming.
“You named it?”
“Dante is not an ‘it’.”
Levi makes a move to step closer but immediately stops when the ‘Dante’ hisses at him.
“Aw, he likes you.” You coo.
“Clearly,” he replies unenthusiastically. “Listen,” he sighs. “I respect your cat’s pronouns but that doesn’t mean he’s allowed to stay. Or do I need to remind you of the mac and cheese incident?”
Okay, maybe he was on to something. If you got caught with a pet in the dorms you’d breach your third and final warning, and you’d be forced to dorm off-campus. The fact that you were still here after the mac and cheese incident was solely because Levi pulled some strings (aka asked Erwin, golden boy of the campus who owed him a favor, to pull some strings).
But you couldn’t just let Dante go. There was something about him that felt so familiar; something about his black fur, thin silver eyes, unamused snarl, and overall grumpy demeanor. Especially endearing was the way he’d grumble and pretend to be annoyed whenever you tried to cuddle him but would complain if you stopped.
You just couldn’t figure out who or what he reminded you of.
Maybe you would’ve figured it out too if you weren’t so distracted with watching Levi and Dante stare at each other. Your eyes dart back and forth between the grouchy cat sitting on your bed and your grouchy roommate sitting on his desk. Both were slightly crouched over with their heads tilted up in a show of dominance; they were engaged in what seemed to be a glaring contest, gunmetal irises unamused and mouths taut in a snarl as they protected their territory.
You sigh. You really, for the life of you, couldn’t figure out why Dante felt so familiar.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
ii. second terrace: envy
Levi is not jealous. He’s not.
At least that’s what he tells himself as he sulks alone on his bed. His arms are crossed and his lips are in a pout, eyebrows knitted in distaste, occasionally glancing to your side of the room where you sat up on your bed. He’s sure whatever movie you chose to watch together is interesting and all, but right now all he could pay attention to was that stupid cat. Sitting on your stupid lap. Getting its fur stroked by your stupid hand. Getting all the love and affection his stupid self should be receiving.
It was him you should be cuddling, not Dante. Saturday nights were reserved for him and you, not you and a cat while he happened to be in the room. He’s been trying to make a move on you since high school and he can’t fucking believe he’s losing your attention to a cat. Sure, he’s always been too chicken to make a move and had to suffer seeing you get together with assholes— as per your type during your emo high school days— but this was a new low. He can’t wrap his head around the concept that he’s losing his longterm crush to a motherfucking cat.
When you coo at how adorable the fleabag was for what felt like the 50th time that night, Levi decides he’s had enough of the cuddle-hogging piece of shit.
Wordlessly, he crosses to your side of the room and lifts the cat from its perch, ignoring your protests as he sets it down on the floor and tells it to ‘scram, you little fuck.’ He uses a hand to dust your lap free of any microscopic cat particles Dante probably left behind before lying down his head down once he was satisfied. He grabs your hand to put it on his hair.
“Stroke.” He orders, eyes closing.
“What? No! You pushed off Dante.”
“He was in my spot.”
“You couldn’t have given up your lap pillow for one night?”
“One night?” He scoffs and turns to look at you. “You’ve been abandoning me for two weeks. That disgusting, tic-infested, rabies-carrying slob has no business sitting on your lap.”
“He’s not disgusting, you gave him a shower before you agreed to let me keep him. And I took him the vet to make sure he had all his shots. He’s clean, Levi.”
“Tch, good. Now throw him out and let him find someone else to freeload from.”
“Okay, what’s going on?” You guffaw. “You’ve been grumpier than usual. And why’re you being such an ass to Dante? He’s just a cat.”
“Don’t think he’s special in some way. I’m an ass to everyone.”
“Then why does it feel like you’re always extra mean to him?”
He doesn’t reply. His lips are downturned into a frown when he looks away with a click of his tongue, and you realize with a sigh you won’t be getting an answer from your cryptic roommate soon. Your fingers start mindlessly stroking his undercut when you get lost in your thoughts— a habit you developed through years of Levi using your lap as a pillow. He always complained the first few times you did it but you knew it calmed both him and you, and that it put both your minds at ease. Moreso Levi right now, apparently.
You’re keenly aware of how he seems to curl up into you the more you keep going. You watch as his shoulders slump down when you stroke the side of his face, and his eyebrows relax slightly. From your angle, you could even see the way his eyes close in content. Maybe even a tiny smile if you were being delusional.
Your lip twitches upward.
“Oh my god, Levi, are you jealous of a cat?”
“Shut up and play with my hair.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
iii. third terrace: wrath
“You owe me a new cravat.”
You blink up at your roommate. “What?”
“You owe me a new cravat.” He repeats. He pulls from his pocket a white piece of fabric— barely recognizable— torn into shreds, releases it mid-air. It gently lands on your open palm.
“Wait, did Dante do this?” You ask, eyeing the slik in your hands.
“Unless you went feral in the middle of the fucking night and decided to cut up my clothes, yes.”
“Oh my god, Levi, I’m so sorry. I swear Dante will never—“
“You actually owe me three cravats,” he interjects. “The first two I overlooked since they weren’t that expensive but I draw the line here.” His lips are downturned into a frown, eyes poorly concealing his clear distaste. “This one’s my favorite and it was made from silk.”
You eye the fabric in your hands once more before nodding in understanding, setting down the once beautiful cravat before taking out your wallet. It was only fair that you paid him back; he was being more than generous with letting your cat stay and keeping it a secret, and now you wonder how many bad things Dante’s done that Levi’s overlooked or simply never brought up with you.
“Sure, I’m really sorry. How much do I owe you?”
Levi doesn’t say anything. Instead he pulls out his phone and types something on what you could only assume was google, most likely looking for the same brand of the cravat your cat had just torn into shreds. You weren’t entirely sure how much those could cost, but surely you could afford—
“What the fuck!” You screech, eyeing the page with very, very hefty price tags listed. Holy fucking hell where did he even get the money to buy something so expensive. Gulping, you nervously look up at your unimpressed roommate. You already knew he was taking it easy on you; his aura was the only thing intimidating, at least he wasn’t giving you the murder eyes. And even though he was a man of his word, you were thankful he hasn’t reported Dante.
Still, it didn’t change the fact that Levi looked pissed beyond belief.
“Uhm... can I pay you with a check that’ll definitely bounce?”
“You will pay me in cash.”
“Fuck, fine!”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
iv. fourth terrace: sloth
Levi silently works on his desk. His laptop’s open in fromt of him, numerous notes from classes and books from the library surrounding him. The gentle sounds of clicking and clacking echoe throughout the room as fingers typed at the keyboard, eyes concentrated and lips pulled taught as he focuses on his task. He’s on a roll. He’s almost done with this part of his research, nothing could snap him out of this, he just needs to—
“Levi, when do you think Dante will come back to me?”
He stops typing and grits his teeth.
This is how it’s been the entire night. Ten minutes of peace before you ask him some stupid questions that could’ve been answered with common sense.
“Fuck if I care.”
“Do you think it was something I did?”
He resumes typing. “Yes.”
“Do you think he’ll come back?”
“No.”
“Even after all we’ve been through?”
“Still no.”
“I miss him,” you sigh. “I miss him so much.”
“Then you shouldn’t have left the door open.”
It’s been a week since Dante escaped the dorm and Levi doesn’t understand why you’re still so depressed about it. I mean, you only lost a cat that you loved and treasured and treated like family. Surely a week of moping around in your pajamas and eating nothing but chips and soda was catharsis enough.
He hears you shift in your burrito blanket, presumably to turn away from him so you can sulk into the wall next to your bed. Good. Now he can get back to working on—
“Levi do you think Dante-“
“Enough.” He grits, slamming his laptop shut.
“Where’re you going?” You ask, eyeing the way he hurriedly stuffs papers and books into his bag along with his laptop.
“Out.” He replies, grabbing his keys and his coat. “I can’t stand this shit anymore.”
Your head is burried in your blankets when he slams the door shut and all you could do was slump down because great. You lost Dante, and now you’ve royally pissed off Levi.
Great. Just fucking great.
Unlike your cat, however, your roommate comes back hours later, just before curfew. He doesn’t bother with a hello— he never does— and neither do you, opting to stay hidden underneath the sheets. Though suddenly, there’s a dip in the mattress followed by a pur next to your head.
Could it be?
“Dante?” You murmur, lifting your head from underneath your cocoon of fabric. Small black paws and silver eyes meet your gaze. “Dante!” Immediately sitting up, you pulled him to your lap, scratching his little head and cooing about how much you missed him as he purred and curled into to you.
Levi would never say it, but he missed seeing you smile at the little fleabag.
You turn to look at your roommate. “How’d you find him?”
“Asked around the campus. He wandered into another dorm building and probably thought it was ours.”
“Well yeah but... I thought you hated him?”
“I do.” He replies instantly.
“Then why’d you find him?”
“I hate him, not you.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
v. fifth terrace: avarice
“I fucking hate both of you,” Levi grumbles, staring at the dorm.
Towers of boxes lined his supposed to be clean dorm room. He had a hard time prying the door open since it was blocked, and he wasn’t even sure how the boxes weren’t blocking out the light from how high they were piled. Dante’s sat on a stack of box directly next to the door, purring and flicking his tail around. Levi squints his eyes and glares at the little shit.
“You especially.”
“Mrow?”
Levi’s day had been, with no irony or sarcasm at all, amazing. He got a good grade on his research paper; the guy in front of him at the cafe accidentally ordered an extra serving of (coincidentally, Levi’s favorite) tea and gave it to him for free; and he got full marks for the presentation he’s been worrying about for weeks. His class even got dismissed early so he had an extra hour for lunch. He knew you didn’t have classes, so in honor of his great day he thought he’d do something nice and take you out for lunch. His treat, of course.
But any trace of his good mood vanished when he went back to the dorms and got greeted to a room that looked like it came from an episode of Hoarders.
This is what he gets for trying to be nice.
“Levi! Is that you?” You called out.
“What the fuck happened?”
You laugh sheepishly— at least Levi thinks you do. He couldn’t see you beyond the hundred boxes that took up your shared room. He hears some rustling and the sound of things being moved around before finally your head pops out from behind a wall of brown, smiling at him apologetically before walking towards him (and tripping a few times).
“Remember when I said I’d order some toys for Dante as a surprise?”
Levi’s eye twitches. “Don’t tell me—”
“I accidentally ordered 10,000 instead of 10. Online shopping struggles, am I right?” You nervously chuckle at his pissed off face. Levi was not in the mood.
Your smile widens as you make twinkly gestures with your hands. “So uh... surprise?”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
vi. sixth terrace: gluttony
The clinic is still when you first entered.
The harsh smell of alcohol and sterile metal makes your nose grimace, and the coldness of the thermostat brings goosebumps to your arms. Behind the wall, somewhete in the waiting room, cats are hissing, dogs are barking, and you could even hear the sound of birds angrily chirping and rattling their cages.
Dante cowers in fear on the silver table, and your heart aches. His ears are down and his fur’s standing on its ends, but you couldn’t comfort him. Not right now, at least. The veterinarian still needed to do a few more checks.
You gulp, “how’s... how’s Dante looking, doc?”
“Not good,” she murmurs. Her eyebrows are furrowed, and she takes a deep sigh as she eyes the information on the chart. “It’ll take months before he can walk properly again, possibly more if we don’t do anything about it soon.”
“Don’t tell me... is he—-”
“I’m sorry, my dear,” she sighs. “But your cat is heavily obese.”
The corners of your lips twitch down into a frown, and your palm is warm when you start to stroke Dante’s fur. He calms down a bit from your touch, less on edge but still guarded as he warily eyes the doctor’s gloved hands.
“But I don’t understand,” you reply. “I’ve been following the recommended diet you put him on, and I haven’t been feeding him anything other than the cat food and vitamins you recommended. How’s he still obese?”
“Well, we could look into other solutions, but for now I think we ought to look at whether or not Dante has an underlying health problem.”
Levi tunes out the chatter between you and the vet, bored eyes staring into nothing. He’s leaning against a wall and he’s watching the cat carrier. Your bag’s slung over his shoulders and your coat’s in his arms, and he was sure you didn’t even need him to be here for “moral support.”
He mentally scoffs. You probably just needed a chauffeur to drive you for free, and honestly, Levi would rather feel like a chauffeur than a coat rack.
His eyes make contact with Dante’s, and all the fear in the cat’s eyes is suddenly gone, replaced with a steely glare and bared teeth. A warning, one no one else notices but him.
Levi gives him a solitary nod, understanding what Dante wanted to say.
Don’t tell Y/N I’ve been sneaking to the neighbors.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
vii. seventh terrace: desire
There’s something about the buzz of alcohol and nicotine that makes Levi confident—- the liquid courage in his veins and the smoke in his lungs clouding his judgement. Perhaps that’s where he finally gets the balls to cross the room, drunken eyes on your equally intoxicated ones, before he pulls you in for a kiss.
The kiss starts slow, with lips just interlocking and lightly testing the waters. But then he feels your tongue make its way inside his mouth and your fingers weave into his hair to tug him closer, and Levi loses the last threads of inhibition he has. His tongue massages yours and one of his arm wraps around your waist, the other comes down to grope and knead your ass. He feels you walk backwards and your hand pulls at his tie, dragging him with you. Suddenly he’s trapping you against a wall, lifting one of your legs up to wrap around his hips so he could grind his crotch into yours.
Levi doesn’t expect his first kiss with you to be like this; messy and full of tongue and spit, full of fingers clawing at clothes and small grunts escaping your lips. He was hoping it’d be more romantic, with warm cheeks and fingers softly intertwining, shy kisses exchanged through little smiles.
But he’s not about to complain—- he’s wanted to be with you for years, and god he loved having you like this. Loved having you all hot and desperate, trapped between his firm chest and the wall. His cock is hard in his pants, and he just about growls when he feels you start to undo his belt, the fly of his pants coming down as you got on your knees and stared up at him with innocent eyes as you pull out his aching boner. There’s a cheeky grin your face when you pump at his length, and your tongue peaks out of your mouth before—
“Levi, are you okay?”
His eyes snap open, and he’s greeted to the sight of your worried face directly above his.
“Fuck!” he yells, and his forehead slams into yours when he flinches away. “Sorry, sorry” he quickly ammends when you yelp in pain.
He’s covered in sweat, he notices. Chest heaving, heart beating a little too loud for his liking, and he silently pulls the blankets over his cum stained boxers when you sit beside him.
God, he was really hoping you wouldn’t notice the fact that he came in his pants like a high schooler. And it was before dream you even got to suck him off. How much more pathetic could he be.
“Are you okay?” He asks, and you nod.
“Yeah, m’fine, it’s just...” your eyes are distracted, staring off into space. Fingers trace his thighs, and you sigh. “You were having a nightmare,”
Levi blinks. “What?”
“You were having a nightmare,” you repeat. “Kept tossing and turning and groaning in your sleep. And you kept making these... funny faces,”
“...right,” he nods. Sure, a nightmare. A nightmare he never wanted to wake up from.
It takes about ten minutes to reassure you that yes, he was fine, don’t mind the way his cheeks are flushed, he was just... shaken up from his nightmare, is all. Then you’re back to bed, sleeping the night away, and twenty minutes later he’s on his way back to bed too; this time with a fresh pair of boxers and a content look on his face, all thanks to him finishing off his fantasies in the communal bathroom during his shower.
The door makes a quiet click when he shuts it behind him, and he freezes when he catches sight of Dante sat up on your bed, tail flicking behind him as he gives Levi a knowing look.
Levi squints his eyes, and he threateningly whispers, you tell no one.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
epilogue
The half empty room brings a frown to your face, and all you could do was pout as you sealed up the last of the boxes.
“Why do you have to leave again?” you ask, and Levi turns around as he finishes folding the last of his clothes. He shrugs. “Cats aren’t allowed in the dorms.”
You owed him your entire college career, that much was sure. The RA’s found out about Dante, and Levi had taken the fall to spare you. He wasn’t required to move out since it was only his first strike, but he insisted on doing so so that Dante wouldn’t be alone, saying he already found an apartment nearby and he’ll never hear the end of it from you if he didn’t take Dante with him.
Bullshit. Levi had a soft spot for Dante, you knew that much. He wasn’t doing it for you, he was doing it for himself. Though normally you’d be overjoyed to know that Levi really did secretly like the cat he pretended to hate so much, this time, you were just pissed. You couldn’t believe a fucking cat was stealing away the guy you’ve been in love with since high school. Sure, you were too much of a coward to ask him out, but he was basically your boyfriend already—- the entire campus knew you inadvertently had dibs on each other.
“Yeah but... do you have to leave me alone?”
“I asked you to come with me, and you said no.” He points out. “I still don’t see why when we’ve been roommates since we were freshmen.”
“It’s different off-campus!”
“How?”
“Because it’s like... it’s like we’re moving in together, y’know?” you reply. “And it seemed wrong to move in with you when we’re not even dating.”
“Let’s do it, then.”
“What do you mean?”
He sighs, handing you a spare key to what you could only assume was his new apartment. You glance between him and the key in your hands, and he rolls his eyes when he realizes that you still don’t get it.
“I know we’re doing this backwards since couples don’t typically move in before the first date,” he says before gesturing to Dante. “But we already have a son, and I know you’re his favorite parent. We can share custody until you can move in with me.”
You blink. “What?” Your brain stopped working when Levi referred to you as a couple, and you’re pretty sure your heart stopped beating too. At this point, anything he said went in one ear and out the other. He flicks your forehead.
“Hey— ow! What was that for?”
“You weren’t listening.”
“And you’re being a prick!” you grumble. “It hurts, y’know.”
He scoffs. “What do you want me to do? Kiss it better?” he scoffs.
Your mouth moves faster than your brain, “I’d rather you kiss me.”
Wait. What?
Before you could go back on your words, Levi shrugs. Warm palms gently grab your cheeks, pulling your face closer to his. Your eyes widen and you momentarily freeze, brain definitely not working anymore. He hesitates when you don’t make a move, but then you’re shyly leaning forward, and that was all the confirmation Levi needs.
“If you insist,” he whispers, and suddenly your words die on your tongue when his lips interlock with yours.

part i ; part ii
you were mindlessly playing with your pen, doodling on the margins of your notebook, ignoring completely what your genetics professor was explaining on the board in the front of the classroom.
that’s how class usually was for you; not paying attention to anything, just messing around with your highlighters, drawing more doodles to add to your collection or observing your classmates –not in a creepy way, though–. your professor wasn’t that clueless for you to nap until the end of the class, so you took advantage of whatever could keep you awake.
when your hand started to cramp due to the constant movement, you started looking around the room with a bored expression, letting your thoughts go to anything and everything that seemed the tiniest bit interesting. that was until he caught your eye.
na jaemin. perfect na jaemin. excellent grades, the teacher’s pet, always so polite to everyone. the type of guy every parent would want their daughter to date and the perfect role model.
and you were the opposite. you never really cared about school; getting high scores was useless from your point of view, so you never took it seriously. you were used to sneaking out of your house to attend parties and going home drunk with a different guy each weekend –cause life is short and why not–. your lifestyle earned you a ‘bad girl’ reputation, as well as the protagonism of multiple not-so-nice rumours.
you two were so different from one another, belonged to completely different worlds.
that’s why you were so intrigued by him.
it’s not like this was the first time you notice him, you can’t just not notice him. he was gorgeous, to say the least; perfect face, flawless skin, sparkly round eyes adorned with long eyelashes, pink plush lips, fluffy hair with soft dark locks that fell beautifully on his forehead, framing the soft expression on his face. oh yeah, how could you forget that long neck of his, with a prominent adam’s apple that made your mouth water with the thought of marking it with purplish bites. you’ve wanted to ruin him since the first day you laid eyes on him, make him break under your touch and need you as much as he needs oxygen to breathe.
“so, before the class comes to an end, i’m going to assign you in pairs for the project i was talking to you about a few minutes ago.” groans of annoyance were heard from all around the room, finally making you pay attention.
as the professor began mentioning the pairs, your attention drifted once again towards jaemin. he looked genuinely interested in what was being said; eyebrows furrowed in concentration while waiting for his name to be called.
“kim sohee and lee donghyuck,” your eyes wandered down toward his broad shoulders, strong arms and slender fingers. your teeth nibbled with your bottom lip, nails sinking against the palm of your hand as you felt your panties grow damp by the sole idea of him fingering you.
“na jaemin and y/l y/n,” your head snapped first in the direction of your professor, and then to his, who looked rather nervous sitting down a few desks in front of you, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. indeed, jaemin was nervous, so nervous that he felt like he was about to pass out. he could feel the looks full of pity his friends were throwing at him and it was making him feel even worse. he wasn’t too pleased either with the shot of excitement and anticipation he felt spreading across his body. you looked down at your hands, hair slightly covering your face as you tried to hide your devilish smirk.
you didn’t bother to listen to the rest of the pairs, being already too immersed in thoughts about every possible scenario that could take place while you two worked together on the project.
~.~.~.~
as soon as class ended, you threw your bag over your shoulder, making your way towards jaemin’s table and earning a couple of looks of disapproval from his friends. not letting that affect you, you approached him with a sweet smile plastered on your face. “hey,” his face shot up to look at you, hands still working on getting all his belongings inside his bag. straightening his back, he tried to look unaffected by your presence. he nodded his head shortly as a greeting and decided to get this over with as fast as he could.
“let’s work on the project at the library, right after class,” jaemin said, trying to sound confident, but you could see right through him; he was nervous. he figured that a place full of people was less risky rather than either of your houses, where you’d be alone and the possibility of something happening was a lot higher. you shrugged your shoulders, not really minding the location, “see you later, pretty boy.” you winked at him before making your way out of the room, leaving a flustered jaemin behind.
you were bad news, your name only coming up in conversations about breaking the rules, hookups during parties with lots of alcohol involved and other rumours. he knew he wasn’t supposed to feel like this, all about you screamed ‘danger, beware’. and his friends had warned him, always making sure to constantly remind him not to get closer than needed or he would be doomed. but he couldn’t stop the fast beating of his heart nor the butterflies that erupted in his stomach.
jaemin was certain this wasn’t going to end well, at least not for him.
and he was right.
~.~.~.~
a few hours later, jaemin and you were sat side by side on a slightly secluded table. he decided against sitting close to the entrance, as the internet connexion wasn’t so good and you were required to do internet research. he felt on edge every time your thigh brushed lightly against his, though he wasn’t sure if you knew what you were doing or if you were completely oblivious to the small touches.
but you sure weren’t oblivious of the way his body reacted with each of them, fingers gripping tightly the edges of the book he had opened in front of him. you on the other hand pretended to not notice, intently reading the thesis you had found in google scholars about multifactorial and complex diseases.
at some point, you figured it was time to make your move and shoot your shot. it seemed like he liked your proximity and lingering touches, as he had never –in all the time you’ve spent in the library– made an attempt to pull away or make you stop. also, by the look of the prominent tent forming inside his school pants, he appeared to actually be really fond of it. smiling to yourself, you continued as if nothing happened.
jaemin was internally panicking, he was aware that eventually you were going to notice his little –not so little– problem. he wanted to either bury himself underground or lock himself inside his room and wait until he passed away from inanition, starvation or dehydration, whatever happened first. he tried thinking about disgusting things to make it go away, like strawberries or the time when he was dared to lick his friend donghyuck’s sweaty foot, but nothing seemed to work.
you could make out the outline of his hard dick from the inside of his pants, biting your lips to contain the smirk making its way to your face. your hand snaked up his thigh until it was close to where he most needed you, making him shudder and squirm nervously under your touch. “w-what are you doing?”, he managed to ask, swallowing the lump in his throat. this was the first time a hand that wasn’t his own was touching him. because, of course, he wasn’t that innocent. he had needs like every guy his age, hormones all over the place and making him painfully aware of the pretty girl sitting so close to him. your scent intoxicating and addictive, almost making him lean closer.
you didn’t even care to respond, too fascinated by the feeling of his clothed member against your hand, hot and heavy. “s-stop, this isn’t right, w-we can’t do this here.” the panic present on his voice made a chuckle fall from your lips, making jaemin shrink in his seat.
“someone’s gonna hear us, w-we’ll get caught.” he didn’t know what else to tell you to make you stop, how could he convince you to stop when he didn’t want you to? you ignored his words and kept going, the idea of getting caught causing wetness to gather inside your panties. “then you’ll have to keep quiet,” the moan that slipped from his lips made you rub your thighs together to ease some of the tension.
you freed his member from the confines of his pants and briefs, pulling them down just enough for you to have easy access to it, but not so much to make it too obvious. he was big; thick enough to stretch you out nicely. you hummed in approval, spitting in the palm of your hand, going to grab ahold of his cock and slowly start to pump him. jaemin threw his head back, eyebrows furrowed, eyes closed shut and mouth agape in a silent moan. “does it feel good baby?” he hummed quietly, not trusting his voice. he leaned his body closer to yours, chest against your side while his head rested on your shoulder. “so needy”, you mumbled mockingly, to which his hips bucked slightly.
jaemin felt in cloud 9 having your soft hand wrapped tightly around his sensitive dick. he knew all of this was wrong, but it felt so good. he opened his eyes enough to be able to see you work on his shaft. your thumb flicked against his slit as it spread the leaking precum from the tip to the base. he was trying his best to avoid letting out any sound, afraid of drawing unwanted attention.
you could feel he was getting close by the stuttering of his hips, desperately thrusting back against your fist. and, as much as you wanted to see his face while cumming, you weren’t going to let him just yet. you needed him and you needed him now, your slick arousal starting to run down your inner thighs. you’ve had enough.
your hand stopped its ministrations, making him whine softly at the loss of friction. moving to straddle his thighs, you threw your leg over his until you were comfortably sitting on his lap, skirt riding up from your new position. your thin arms snaked around his neck, one going to tangle in his hair and the other to caress his jaw. his hands positioned themselves instantly in your hips, holding onto you for dear life. his eyes nervously wandered over your shoulder, making sure nobody was paying attention to what you both were doing.
you pulled his chin to get him to look at you, eyes hooded and filled with lust. you looked so hot, face flushed a pretty tone of red, eyes sparkling with mischief. he knew he would be jacking off to the thought of you for the rest of the year, if not for the rest of his life.
his thoughts were interrupted, heavy lids almost closing once again and mind going blank, as he felt you roll your hips against his hard cock, which was standing tall in between your bodies. biting your lip, you leaned in to kiss his, feeling for the first time his plump, soft pink lips against yours. a moan escaped your mouth at the sweet taste of his tongue, fighting against your desperately as if he would never be able to savour you again.
rising from his lap slightly, you used one of your hands to position the tip of his cock against your entrance and the other to push your panties aside. a soft groan left jaemin’s lips as he felt the wetness of your core. as you were about to lower yourself on him, he stopped you, fingers digging against your sides. “i-i have never done anything like this with anyone.” if you were being honest, you found his nervous stutter quite endearing. “then let me ruin you.” that was all it took for him to give in to you.
you pumped him a few more times, making sure to completely coat his shaft with both of your arousals. as you lowered yourself on him, you pulled him in for a heated kiss, swallowing his sounds of pleasure. when you had finally engulfed the entirety of his cock, you began moving your hips in circular motions, waiting for the both of you to get used to the feeling. the friction made him pull you closer, face buried in the crook of your neck while small whimpers left his lips, going straight to your core. your walls clenched around him tightly, drawing a loud groan from his chest, eyes rolling to the back of his head.
you kept kissing him, swallowing his groans and moans. he felt so good filling you up with his hard cock, he fit perfectly inside of you, as if he was made just for you; like a puzzle piece. “you feel so good, baby, stretching me out, so so good,” you praised him sweetly, hand running through his soft locks.
jaemin seemed to be unable to get enough of you. he didn’t want this to end, he wanted to stay with you –preferably inside of you–, be able to feel you so close and know he is the one who is making you feel so good.
“wait, fuck,” he gasped trying to catch his breath, “wait, i’m g-gonna cum if you keep going.” it hadn’t been long, but he was already worked up since you started touching him earlier. “is that so? remember we’re not using a condom, baby. if you cum inside me i could get pregnant.” you hummed, trying to get a reaction to your words out of him. and you got it as a higher pitched moan fell from his lips, feeling his grip on your waist tighten.
“you’d like that, wouldn’t you, huh?” you quirked an eyebrow, smirking to yourself when you felt him twitch inside of you. “yes”, he whimpered, vision blurred, the pleasure overpowering the fear of being caught. he found himself enjoying the thrill more than he should, almost embarrassed with how easily you could make him lose all his self-control. he knew you were playing with his mind, pushing him just enough to make him risk everything; his reputation, his image. exactly how you managed to get him to lose his innocence.
“what a filthy little boy, who would have guessed perfect student na jaemin was so much of a slut”, you whispered in his ear while raking your nails down his chest. jaemin could only buck his hips to meet yours, desperate to feel more, thighs burning from the effort. he was getting restless, unable to keep quiet as moans rolled off of his tongue with every roll of your hips. your mouth attached itself to his neck, biting harshly to leave pretty red marks that were soon to become purple. the sound of pages turning and typing on the library’s computers reminding you of where you were.
“please, i’m so close,” he didn’t even know what he was pleading for anymore, the only thing he knew was that he needed you, all of you, in every way possible; in every way you were willing to let him have you. “wanna cum inside my tight little pussy, baby? wanna fill me up with your hot cum and put your baby inside of me?” with glassy eyes and hot tears threatening to fall down his crimson cheeks from the overwhelming pleasure which was almost making him dizzy, he let out a string of ‘yes, yes, yes’. his hands clutched your hips to bring you closer, digging his nails on the flesh and leaving crescent moon shaped marks. a moan slipped from your lips, only increasing his desperation.
you picked up your pace, your naked thighs slapping lightly against his clothed ones. the both of you could hear the wet mewls your cunt made every time you lowered yourself on him until he was balls deep inside of you. his hips raised to meet yours, hitting your most sensitive spot with the tip of his cock, as he tried to match your fast rhythm.
jaemin didn’t know what to do with himself. he knew he had to be quiet or else someone was going to realize what was going on, but he physically couldn’t hold the sounds in. in fact, he could almost taste the faint taste of copper from biting too harshly on the flesh of his lips. on the other hand, you didn’t seem to have as much trouble to keep your cool, as only a couple of sighs of pleasure left your lips from time to time. little did jaemin know you were struggling to keep your mouth shut. every thrust of his hips causing him to hit deeper, the fucked out look in his face motivating you to go faster.
though you weren’t as close to cumming as he was, you knew this was his first time and it seemed like he was about to combust. it wouldn’t be so nice of you to make him wait longer, would it? “cum for me baby boy,” and that’s all it took for jaemin to reach his high, hips stuttering and hands trembling. feeling his seed paint your velvet walls, your hand went down your body to find your clit, starting to rub circles against your sensitive bud. a wave of pleasure shot through your body and made your hips jerk roughly against him. the sob jaemin let out went straight to your core making your climax approach faster than you would have thought.
taking advantage of the slippery mess he had made of the both of you, you slid up and down on him faster and with more strength. jaemin, seeing as you weren’t going to stop anytime soon, started growing impatient. “t-to much, p–ah, please, it’s too much”, but you didn’t stop, gripping his strong arms and grinding harder against him. “no, no, please, it hurts” he cried out desperately, begging you to stop bouncing on his oversensitive cock. you shook your head and pulled him closer by the collar of his shirt. you smacked your mouths together, diving in for another sloppy kiss that had jaemin weak on the knees and a moaning mess.
when you tore away from him, jaemin brought his fist to his face and bit it hard, trying equally as hard to control himself. his second orgasm of the day was coming closer and oh was it going to be strong. when it finally happened, his eyes rolled to the back, head dropping back. that was the last straw as you felt yourself coming, walls tightening and clenching around him to milk him dry, the movements of your hand becoming sloppy. he felt light-headed, slightly blacking out for a few seconds until he managed to recover his consciousness.
using his shoulders to help yourself off of him, you let him slip out of you. jaemin winced from the oversensitivity, hands quickly tucking himself inside his pants. as you fixed your ruined panties and messy hair, properly tidying up your clothes, you once again threw your bag over your shoulder. he eyed you with a disoriented look in his face, confused as to what you were doing.
he saw you turn around on your heels before walking out of the library, only your panties preventing his cum from running down your thighs. you left him there, without a single word, not even spared him a glance. you walked away from him as if you didn’t just fuck the life out of him, as if he hadn’t just gifted you his virginity, or more like as if you hadn’t just stolen it. as if all the kisses you shared and loving pet names you used on him meant nothing.
and the worst part of it all was the pang of hurt jaemin felt in his heart when realization fell down on him like a bucket of cold water.
to you, that moment meant nothing. because to you, he didn’t mean anything.

Once you arrived at Sharon’s you were itching to get out of the costume Zemo cooked up for you.
“Looks like breaking all those laws is treating you well.” Sam gawked at Sharon’s place which was full of art work and collectables.
“I thought if I had to hustle, might as well enjoy the life of a real hustler. You know how much I’ll get for a real Monet?” Sharon shrugged as she lead you through her gallery.
“Easy...Deactivate your hustle mode. You sell fake Monets.” Sam didn’t believe her as he stared at the artwork.
“No. She means real. This gallery is specialized in stolen artwork. Monet. Van Gogh. Classics.” Zemo defended Sharon as he followed her.
“It’s true. You know, half the artwork in museums like the Louvre is fake. Real stuff sits in places like this.” Bucky informed Sam.
“Okay, guys, I see what you’re doing. You’re more worldly than good old Sam.” Sam pulled out his phone and started searching a nearby paining.
“Yeah. What’s Google say?” Bucky teased him for it.
“No shit.” Sam muttered as the realisation hit him.
“You guys need to change. I’m hosting clients in an hour.” Sharon beckoned you along to which you were silently thankful for.
Sharon was kind enough to let you look through her vast collection of clothes until you picked out something you liked.
“Hey... You okay?” You asked softly.
You and Bucky were alone with your backs to each other as you changed in one of Sharon’s many rooms.
“I’m fine.” Bucky replied quietly.
You knew he wouldn’t be fine after having to act like the winter soldier again. You watched him at that bar. He didn’t hold back when he attacked those men.
“Buck, you know you can’t lie to me.” You tried to keep it light but Bucky wasn’t having it.
“I’m not.”
You didn’t push.
“Hey, will you zip me up?” You asked after stepping into your dress. You didn’t turn but you could hear Bucky’s footsteps as he approached you.
You felt the cold of his fingers brush against your back as he slowly zipped up the dress.
You turned when the zip reached the top.
“Thanks.” You whispered.
Bucky’s eyes were burning through you as he admired your choice of dress.
“You look beautiful.” Bucky murmured, his eyes taking in every detail.
“You scrub up quite nicely yourself.” You smiled as you admired Bucky in the suit Sharon had given him. You couldn’t deny the butterflies in your stomach as you thought about a possible normal circumstance Bucky could wear something like this. Like a date.
“Come on.” Bucky took your hand and lead you to the door that would take you back to the others.
“It’s alright. I’m gonna sort my hair out. Running through Low-town didn’t exactly do it any favours.” You retracted your hand and returned to the mirror. Bucky hesitated didn’t question you.
“What’s going on with you and Bucky?” Sharon’s voice filled the room as you  heard the door open again. “Thought the two of you’d be together by now.”
“We’re coworkers. We’ve always been coworkers.” You were wary of Sharon’s new found attitude.
“Oh please. You two have wanted to jump each others bones the whole time I've known you.” Sharon rolled her eyes at you as she slump down on the love seat beside you.
You remained silent as you brushed through your hair.
“Oh come on.” Sharon rolled her eyes. “You two have never?”
“No.” You said almost too quickly.
“Well it’s only a matter of time. I don’t know why you are dragging it out so long.” Sharon sighed dramatically as she picked at the fabric on the settee.
“I don’t know why everyone is so invested in mine and Bucky’s relationship.” You spun around to face her. “You. Sam. Steve. You all poke and prod but you don’t take into consideration all the factors.”
“No you don’t take into consideration that there’s only so much time before one day you’re shot or killed or you have to go on the run and never see him again. You need to grow some balls, (y/n).” Sharon didn't bother sticking around after that.
You groaned and closed your eyes.
When you finally decided to rejoin the group, they were discussing Sharon’s status in Madripoor.
“What’s going on, Sharon? You don’t ever wanna come back home?” Sam asked as he put on a shirt.
“They’ll lock me up if I step foot back in the States. Madripoor doesn’t allow extradition.” Sharon replied pretty matter-of-factly as she walked over to her desk.
“Look, I’m sorry I didn’t call, but after the Blip and the chaos, I just––” Sharon cut Sam off before he could explain himself.
“––Look, you know the whole hero thing is a joke, right? The way you gave up that shield, deep down, you must know it’s all hypocrisy.
“He knows. And not so deep down.” Zemo felt the need to jump in.
“By the way, how is the new Cap?” Sharon asked.
“Don’t get me started.”Bucky grumbled.
“Please. You buy into all that stars and stripes bullshit. Before you were his pet psychopath, you were Mr. America! Cap’s best friend.” Sharon smirked as she sat down beside Bucky.
“Wow. She’s kind of awful now.” Bucky said as he looked over at you.
“Karli Morgenthau and at least seven others have taken the serum.” You took the initiative to change the topic back to the reason you were here in the first place.
“You guys really should steer clear of all of this for your own safety.”Sharon warned you as she shook her head.
“We know it’s a risk, but we won’t leave until we find the one who cracked the code.” Sam took the chair beside Sharon as he spoke.
“We got a name. Wilfred Nagel.” Bucky told her.
“Nagel works for the Power Broker.” Sharon informed you as she stood to pour herself a drink.
“We need your help, Sharon. I can get your name cleared.” Sam offered.
“You haggling with my life?” Sharon smirked again.
“Not like that.” Sam shook his head.
“I don’t buy that. You pretending like you can clear my name.” Sharon leant back against her bar.
“Okay, maybe it is hypocrisy. Maybe you’re right. What happened to you. But I’m willing to try if you are. They cleared the bionic staring machine, and he killed almost everybody he’s met.” Sam approached her with his good old puppy dog eyes.
“I heard that.” Bucky frowned, unimpressed by Sam’s use of example.
“I don’t trust charity.” Sharon sighed.
“All right, a deal then. You help us out, and I get your name cleared.” Sam offered his hand.
“Well, I sell to some pretty connected people. Lay low, blend in, enjoy the party. Try to stay outta trouble. I’ll see what I can find.” Sharon took the deal.
The party seemed to suddenly start.
Within minutes the whole place was jam packed. Music suffocated the space and the smell of sweat and alcohol was growing.
You stayed in between Sam and Bucky as you walked single file through the gathering. You reached back and linked fingers with Bucky’s to make sure you didn’t get parted in the crowd.
As the bar came into view, you felt a hand grab your ass.
“Hey!” Bucky took hold of the stranger and slammed him against the nearest wall. Holding him by the throat.
Sam was there to diffuse the situation in a second. He placed a. hand on Bucky’s shoulder to pull him away.
“Lay low remember.” Sam repeated what Sharon had told everyone over the blaring music.
Bucky released the creep and stepped back.
That gave you enough space to send your own punch. The man cried out, sliding down the wall and cradling his gushing nose.
“Looks like she does not need help.” Zemo chimed in.
You all left the guy without drawing too much attention to yourselves.
The music wasn’t exactly your taste and you knew that it definitely wasn’t Bucky's but that didn’t stop you from taking him away from Sam and Zemo.
“What are you doing?” Bucky asked you.
“Got a bit boring just standing there, no?” You smirked.
“You can’t expect me to dance to this, can you?” Bucky grimaced at the pulsing beat that classified as music.
“You can try.” You smirked as you brought yourself closer to the man.
You moved your body to the music, smiling widely him as he awkwardly tried to sway to it.
“I thought you were a good dancer?!” You teased Bucky as you watched him.
“I was!” Bucky defended himself. “When the music was Louis Armstrong and Glenn Miller!”
You couldn’t help but laugh at the man before wrapping your arm around his neck.
“You gotta move a bit more like this.” You tried to show him, taking his hand and placing it on your hip.
Bucky was starting to look a little less like a grandpa as he got into the groove of it.
His eyes were locked on you, a small smile on his lips. He looked undeniably handsome.
“I think you’re getting it.” You leant up by his ear to tell him.
“Well, we can’t look any worse than Zemo.” Bucky pointed through the crowd where Zemo was dancing.
Tumblr media
You burst into laughter at the sight of the war criminal dancing and buried your face into Bucky’s neck. Bucky laughed next to your ear. It was a rare genuine sound that sent tingles through your head.
“Come on.. Let’s get some water.” You left the dance floor and rejoined Sam by the bar where he had started to speak to some other guests.
Sharon approached you a little while later with some good news and so you all immediately left the party.
“Madripoor could give New York a run for its money.” Sam stated as you arrived at the location of Nagel.
“They know how to party.” Zemo agreed.
You followed Sharon through the shipping container yard as she searched for the right one.
“With that bounty on your head, the longer you’re in Madripoor, the less likely you’re ever leaving.” Sharon stopped and pointed over to a red container. “All right. He’s in there. Container four-two-six-one. I’ll watch while you guys talk to Nagel. But hurry. We’re on borrowed time.”
“You want me to stick around out here with you in case you run into trouble?” You asked her as you all took an ear piece.
“I’ll be alright. I’ll call if I need any back up.” Sharon dismissed your offer before walking away.
You all entered the container cautiously before Sam contacted Sharon.
“Hey, Sharon. You sure this is the right one? It’s completely empty.” He was right. To the eye, it was empty.
“Positive. It has to be.” Sharon replied.
You shared a look between Sam and Bucky as Zemo felt around the. back of the container.
Suddenly, it shifted and a hidden door opened.
Soft music played from below along with a muffled voice.
It has to be Nagel.
Sam, Bucky and you all went in armed.
You silently negotiated between each other which urged Sam to go ahead and cut the music. Nagel spun around at the intrusion.
“Dr. Nagel?” Sam inquired.
“Who are you? What do you want?” The man wasn’t intimidating and didn't seem to have any weapons around him but you had learnt in the past not to underestimate your opponent.
“We know you created the super-soldier serum.” Sam informed him.
“Get out of my lab.” Nagel demanded pretty boldly considering Sam was the one with the gun.
“Hey! You know who he is, right?” Sam asked as he caught the shocked look on Nagel’s face at the sight of Bucky.  This is Baron Zemo. I know you’ve heard of him, too, right? You seem like a pretty smart guy. So you better become conversational real quick.”
“How about a counter proposal? Make me a better offer and I’ll talk.”Nagel smirked.
“Guys, we have company.” Sharon’s voice whispered through the ear piece. “Every bounty hunter in the city is here. We gotta go.”
“I’ll go up.” You lowered your gun from Nagel and went to turn when Sam stopped you.
“No, we might need you.” Sam meant he might need your powers.
“But...” You gestured to your ear.
“She didn’t ask for back up.” Sam argued.
You sighed but listened to Sam.
Bucky moved Nagel over to a chair. He held his gun to the man’s temple.
“Here’s your counter offer.” Bucky shot next to Nagel’s head which worked wonders to make him talk.
“Okay. Okay. I was brought into HYDRA’s Winter Soldier program to pick up their work after the five failed test subjects in Siberia. When HYDRA fell, I was recruited by the CIA. They had blood samples from an American test subject with semi-stable traces of serum in his system. After much labor, I was able to isolate the necessary compounds in his blood. I was a god. I did what no other scientist since Erskine was able to do. But mine was going to be different. No clunky machines or jacked up bodies. Mine was going to be subtle, optimized, perfect.”
“How have we never heard about this?” You asked, your eyes flicking over at Sam.
“Because… Before I was able to complete my work, I turned to dust. Then when I returned, it was five years later, program had been abandoned, so I came here. The Power Broker was more than happy to fund the recreation of my work.” Nagel explained.
“How many vials did you make?” Sam asked.
“Twenty. Karli Morgenthau stole those, so I can only imagine what the Power Broker has planned for that poor girl.”
“Where’s Karli now?”You stepped forward, rolling up your sleeve as a warning.
“I don’t know where she is. But a couple of days ago, she called and asked if I could help someone named Donya Madani. Poor woman has tuberculosis. Typical of overpopulation in displacement camps like that.” You took a mental note of the name Nagel mentioned.
“Well, what happened to her?” You pushed
“Not my pig. Not my farm.” Nagel shrugged.
You looked back at Sam with a look asking if you should check if he's telling the truth but Sam shook his head.
“Is there any serum in this lab?” Bucky asked.
Nagel sent Bucky a deep glare but Bucky’s gun brought forth the answer.
“No.”
“Now what?” Bucky asked you and Sam.
“Guys, we’re seriously outta time here.” Sharon bursted in, looking a little battered.
All of a sudden, Zemo pulled a gun out and shot Nagel.
“No!” Sam cried out
You lunged forward and reached for the man’s arm. If you could catch his final moments of life leaving his body you could still get the memories but as you hand touched his skin all you saw was darkness.
You screamed as you went blind.
You felt a pair of hands pull you up from the ground to which you could only assume was Bucky.
“What did you do?!” Sharon gasped at Zemo’s action.
“I can’t see, Buck.” You felt your whole body go limp in his arms as you muttered those final words before you passed out.
When you felt your eyes open again, you were out of the container. Gun shots were muffled in your eyes as you heard Bucky and Sam arguing.
You were covered in dust and you didn’t have your gun.
“Where’s my gun?” You asked. That’s when the boys realised you were awake.
You only managed to crawl over to Bucky to take it from him and start to fire.
Your aim was off from how exhausted you were but the adrenaline was there enough for you to get a good few shots in.
“Are you okay?” Bucky asked you as the firing stopped. Zemo was busy taking out the remaining bodies so it gave you time to sit back again.
“Not really.” You shook your head. Your body felt cold and darkness still clouded the corners of your vision. It’s what happened when you tried to get the memories from a dead body, all you could see and feel is death. Your powers only worked on living people or people close to death.
“Come on.” Bucky lifted you up, tucking his arm underneath you to keep you steady on your feet.
You only lasted being half dragged/half running before Bucky picked you up. You hated being carried but this was a life or death situation.
“Buck!” Sam shouted as some more bounty hunters appeared. Bucky put you down and you fell against the container door as he used a broken off pipe to fight them off.
“Let’s go!” Sam tugged you both inside.
Bucky kicked open the back of the container so you could escape, only for you to be met by Zemo in a swanky getaway car.
“Supercharged.” Zemo gestured to his ride.
“You’re going back to jail.” Sam told Zemo.
“Do you want to find Karli or not?” Zemo asked.
“He’s right. We need him.” You tried to speak but your throat was hoarse.
“And there’s only three of us, and at least 20 of them.” Bucky added.
“Fine. But if you try that shit again...” Sam warned him.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” Zemo stated. Not that he was to be trusted.
Sam helped you into the back seat. There was concern painted across his face.
“Well, that was one hell of a reunion.” Sharon sighed as she placed her hands on the car.
“Come back to the States with us.” Sam tried to persuade her.
“I can’t. Just get me that pardon you promised me.” Sharon reminded him of the deal they made.
“Thanks for everything.” Sam nodded. “You’re not gonna move your seat up, are you?”
“No.” Bucky shook his head.
You laughed weakly as you remembered the same conversation back when Steve was still around.
Back on Zemo’s plane, you took a position on the small couch with Bucky. You were resting your eyes but trying to stay awake as you listened to the boys talk.
“Donya Madani. She’s a refugee, yeah.” Sam had contacted Torres about the woman Nagel had mentioned. “Call me if you get a hit. --- Thanks, Torres.”
“You okay?” Bucky asked Sam as Sam slouched down.
“Yeah. Just thinking about all the shit Sharon had to go through. And Nagel referring to the American test subject like Isaiah wasn’t even a real person. Just makes me wonder how many people have to get steamrolled to make way for this hunk of metal.”
“Well, it depends on who you ask. That hunk of metal saved a lot of lives.” Bucky looked up from cleaning his hand.
“Yeah, I get that. All right. Maybe I made a mistake.” Sam confessed.
“You did.” Bucky agreed with that statement and so did you but you kept your eyes closed.
“Yeah. Maybe I shouldn’t have put it in a museum. Maybe I should have destroyed it.” Sam didn’t say what you expected.
“Look, that shield represents a lotta things to a lotta people, including me. The world is upside down, and we need a new Cap, and it ain’t gonna be Walker. So before you destroy it, I’ll take it from him myself.” Bucky turned to face Sam as he spoke. You felt the couch shift.
Sam then got a call with the information on Madani.
“They found Madani… Dead. She died in Riga, a city near the Baltic Sea.”
“I have a place we can go. I, for one, am looking forward to coming face to face with Karli. Oeznik, we’re changing the course.” Zemo’s voice was the last thing you remembered before waking up at landing.
“Hey sleepy head.” Bucky whispered quietly. He’d rather be caught dead than let Sam hear him say that.
“Have we landed?” You asked as you rubbed your eyes.
“Yeah.” Bucky nodded. “Come on.”
It didn’t take too long to get to Zemo’s place but when you did, Bucky decided to break away.
“I’m gonna go on a walk.” Bucky announced before you entered the building.
“You good?” Sam asked.
“Yeah.” Bucky nodded as he stepped away.
“Be careful.” You warned him.
You knew Bucky needed his space sometime but now wasn’t the best time for him to just be wandering the streets. Especially if Walker clocks on it was you three that broke Zemo out of prison.
“Always.” Bucky winked at you before finally leaving.
But that was a bad feeling in your gut.

Haircuts
I’d like to begin to apologize for the absolute homosexuality that is this piece. Thank you.
His heart skipped as you entered the room, the sudden scribbling of a pen coming to a stop. You gently set down your mug of coffee, running your hands through your newly cut hair. The feeling was foreign, as you rarely treated yourself to a fresh trim. You were temporarily unaware of the eyes locked on you, resting your drink on the corner of your desk. You felt a breeze on the back of your newly shaven neck as you sat down in your seat, making sure to keep your posture straight.
Roy adjusted himself in his seat, straightening his appearance as he croaked a shy “Good morning, Lieutenant.” You noticed his odd tone in voice, but knew better than to embarrass the man. He doesn’t like to admit it, however he is quite sensitive, especially when it comes to his social appearance. You couldn’t help the smirk on your face as you looked over to the Colonel. “Good morning, Sir.” You stated politely, pretending that you didn’t see the dust of pink on his cheeks at your sudden smirk.
You continued the rest of your day focused on the work ahead of you, turning a blind eye to Roy’s painfully obvious staring. However, you could feel the love in his eyes as he looked at you fondly. The slight twinkle in his eyes translated, even in your peripheral vision. You could tell it was the haircut, and eventually it became too much for you. You knew he had a plethora of work ahead of him and decided to put an end to his curiosity.
You stood from your seat and cleared your throat before adjusting your uniform. You pushed in your chair and headed towards Roy, who attempted to hide the fact that he was staring at you this entire time. You could see the way his eyes averted, and it did create a light dusting on your cheeks as well, seeing him so vulnerable. It was as if he fell victim to an extreme case of “gay panic.”
You moved next to Roy and smiled at him gently. “If you were that curious, Sir, all you had to do was ask. You may feel my new haircut.” You said to him, attempting to acknowledge his staring in a way that didn’t directly “out” him. Roy’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates as you bent your head down towards his grasp. His face was a light pink, and his shaky hand began to move towards its destination.
He couldn’t believe that you noticed his staring, but he couldn’t help but take this opportunity to get this close to you. You were so handsome today, and he wanted to run his fingers through your hair the entire day. He wanted your lips pressed against his, gentle or rough, it didn’t matter to him. Just as long as he could be close and intimate to you. These thoughts were pulled from his head as he realized his hand had reached your hair. He ran his fingers through the soft, therapeutic hair. His once pink face was now a bright red, because he couldn’t stop himself from repeating this action over and over again. The velvety, soft, addicting feeling of each strand between his fingers. Such a platonic act felt so intimate to him, and his heart begged for more.
And you took it, enjoying the feeling. Your face was just as red as Roy’s, but he couldn’t tell due to the position of your head. You hummed quietly, closing your eyes as you savored this feeling. After a few moments, Roy woke up from his daze and removed his hand swiftly, immediately apologizing. You turned your head upwards and smiled kindly, not acknowledging his shy state. “Soft, isn’t it? Feels nice to have all of the dead ends off!”
Roy nodded mindlessly and clenched his uniform pants from beneath his desk, silently cringing at himself for what he had done. Yet, he couldn’t help but yearn to pet your head more, just one more minute, he really needed it. After years of working with him, you could see his sense of yearning, but you were unsure of how to act upon it, so you nodded in his direction and returned to your seat. Your heart was beating a million miles per minute, just now realizing that Roy. Roy Mustang just pet your head, and had to resist petting it more. You just realized what this meant, and it brought a smile to your face. Roy Mustang had just as much of a crush on you. You weren’t sure what to do with this information just yet, but you knew you’d use it soon.

At the End of Your Rope (Jeff the Killer X F!Reader)
At the End of Your Rope
[Jeff the Killer X F!Reader]
[Warnings: heavy domestic abuse, violence, murder (not heavily described though), language]
[AN: This one's kinda heavy in some places. Take care of yourself first and foremost.]
It was rare that you had moments to yourself and even rarer when you found yourself enjoying those moments. Usually, you were tense, on edge, bitey and waiting to snap or invert back into yourself. That is what it does to you. It takes away, it destroys and it saps you of all your energy, your drive and your will.
No matter, that’s not what you’re supposed to be thinking about. You hum softly as you do the dishes, wondering how long this set of plates will last until he returns. You scrub hard at the bits still stuck to it, wondering how on earth he even managed to get this much filth plastered onto its surface - you made the meal, served it to him, you even took it back to the sink. Was he trying to key you off?
You took in a deep breath and scratched at its surface, only smiling softly when the piece finally dislodged from the blue floral design. You ran it under the sink, lukewarm water feeling alien against your skin as you continued to mindlessly rinse off the suds. As you began to stare off into space and by extension, the void, you found yourself remembering the times he used to bring you blue flowers at the beginning of every date.
A long time ago, when you were starry eyed about the world around you, he loved you deeply and truly. And it was the most strange of couplings, but they do say that opposites attract.
Last class of the day, what a relief. What wasn’t a relief was that it was chemistry. You’d never been particularly good at the subject, but you would often try your hardest and so far, throughout the year, had managed to coast by with a -B. It wasn’t perfect but it was good enough.
For the people around you who knew you better than that, they were more than surprised you hadn’t managed an A in the class just yet. You were the over achiever, the smart girl, the one who knew it all. But not in a cocky way, no, of course not. You were sweet, helpful and kind. That’s what spared you from how cruel teenagers can get - your aura was incredible and people would be absolutely dense to not like you. For the most part, you were quiet and only spoke to a few close friends.
Unfortunately for you, your last period chemistry class didn’t have any of your dear ones near. You sat in the middle of the classroom, attempting to take notes and kept your head down, honestly focused on the material when you heard laughter from the back of the classroom.
“Don't make me come back there,” your teacher said, her eyebrows furrowing slightly. “Do I need to split you up?”
“No, sorry Mrs. Haut,” a dark haired boy piped up.
Mrs. Haut rolled her eyes slightly before going back to writing on the chalkboard. She was talking about the electron configuration of atoms or something like that when the laughter picked back up again. Mrs. Haut sighed again before continuing writing. “One of you move up here by Miss Reader, another by Miss. Rhys, and another by Mr. Clarke.”
The three boys in the back verbally voice their distaste with their teacher’s decision but ultimately went along with it. You buried yourself in your notes even deeper when you realized just who it was sitting next to you. Usually, the person sitting next to you wouldn’t bother you, but the fact that this was by far the most disruptive person in the class had you a little flustered. You couldn’t afford skipping the notes or getting sidetracked especially with midterms coming up.
“You have a pen?” He asked quietly.
That made you pause. “Excuse me?”
“A pen..?” He repeated, albeit a little slowly, as to really get the point across.
You didn’t want to disrupt your teacher any further by the idle chit chat and quietly rummaged in your bag for a pen. Once your fingers grazed the object, you plopped it back onto the desk and got back to writing.
“Thanks,” he said.
Your eyes wandered from your notes over to him - and he smiled at you. Fighting back slight heat, you began scribbling down the notes with a nod as if to say ‘no problem.’
The lesson continued on for a little bit longer until you felt him gently poking your shoulder. You pried your eyes off of the board to give him the attention he so desperately craved. With an eyebrow raised, you asked him what was on his mind.
“What’s your name?” He asked softly.
You felt heat rush to your cheeks - how the hell did he miss your name? You were the only consistent question asker in this class! “... Reader,” you answered, eyes narrowed slightly at the fact he’d miss your name. Though, you do suppose what else could you expect from a class clown? “And what is your name?” You asked simply out of politeness.
His eyes widened in shock, and his face followed in suit. “You seriously don’t know?”
When you shook your head he gave a quiet, but exasperated groan and then flew into a tanger about who he was. The guy who set all those frogs loose last year, the same one who orchestrated turning all the furniture upside down, the guy who did donuts on the football field and the one who covered half the auditorium on elaborate post it notes art.
And unfortunately for you, none of those rang a bell. “I knew someone did it, but I didn’t know you were the one who did it.”
And that spirited yet another tangent from the boy sitting next to you. He went into painstaking detail about how he even got some of those things done, and you pretended to care, more so interested in the passion in his eyes than the actual content of the story. He was a surprisingly good storyteller! You hadn’t even realized the both of you had been chatting more than note taking when everything went dead silent. Much too silent.
“Miss Reader, I am more than disappointed in you,” Mrs. Haut said with another frown pulling on her red lips. “Both of you, detention.”
Your eyes widened in shock as she slapped down two pink slips on your shared table.
“Again?” The boy next to you asked incredulously, taking the note into his fingertips along with his bag in the other hand. “Mrs. H, this is like the second time this month!”
Mrs. Haut only shook her head and gestured towards the door, her shoe tapping impatiently on the ground.
“There’s only thirty more minutes left of class,” you said as you began to pack up your things. “I... “ Upon seeing your teacher’s tired expression, and not being one to directly challenge authority, you relented. “I’m sorry,” you mumbled before taking the slip into your grip and exiting her classroom. You took in a deep breath and trudged out of the classroom, wondering how you would explain to your parents your record had a spot on it when you exited the classroom and closed the door softly behind you.
“Do you know where the room is?” You posed your question to the resident class clown with a crestfallen expression.
“You’re actually planning on going?” He said it like it was a surprise.
“Uh, yeah? Where else would I be going?”
“I don’t know, but we can figure it out.” He smiled widely at you and plucked the pink slip from your hand.
“Wait what-? Give that back!” You cried out as quietly as you could to not disturb the other classes.
“C’mon, Princess, come and get it,” he teased. It didn’t sound like he had malice in his tone though.
You chased him through the hall attempting to get the slip back, narrowly avoiding the watchful gaze of hall monitors and the like when you found he had led you out to the parking lot. You didn’t have a car.
“Let’s go,” he beamed, scrunching up both of your pink slips in his hand before tossing them into the trash. “I wasn’t joking about figuring it out together.”
“I… But-”
“But nothing, Princess. Live a little.” He nodded for you to follow him, and you, feeling much too awkward to challenge someone, found yourself being led by him to his car. It wasn’t a fancy car, but it wasn’t near as run down as you expected it to be. It looked like he kept it relatively decent, and the scent was that of lemon. Whatever, live a little.
You slid into the passenger seat and put on your seatbelt as he became once again.
“Atta girl!” He chuckled as the car roared to life. He then flicked on the radio, turned up some music and the two of you left the school.
You can’t quite say you’ve ever had fun like that before. He took you to a diner, out bowling, you two snuck into a movie theatre then got smoothies before he dropped you off at home. And he was so sweet and kind throughout it all. He made you laugh, listened to you attentively, and over smoothies, he attempted to help you study a bit. It was moot, but it was nice that he even attempted.
That was what started a beautiful friendship that lasted throughout the rest of that academic year. Later, it blossomed into a relationship, and further, it transformed into marriage. The day he asked you to marry him was one of the best days of your entire life - and then, you were convinced you had met your soulmate. He was everything you’d ever wanted in a partner, and he was oh so helpful and attentive.
High school sweethearts was what you were referred to, and you both fit the image so well. You were practically glowing anytime anyone had seen you. Your marriage had happened too fast, but you were convinced he was your one and only unaware that growth comes in many forms. And in this specific case, the roots have burst the pot.
Back then, he used to give you flowers nearly every day in various shades of the rainbow. Blue seemed to be the preferred though.
“You always get these, why?” You had asked one evening, fingertips gently petting the soft petals.
“Apparently, they mean something poetic,” he replied before pressing a kiss to the side of your head. “That’s what the flower guy keeps telling me. And they’re kinda hard to find,” he continued, eyes looking out at the starry night sky the two of you laid under. “So, whenever they come in, I grab them tight and bring them back to my baby.”
You giggled slightly before shutting him off with a kiss.
They were damn near unattainable after the two of you had gotten married. It seemed they’d gone out of style, or perhaps they just weren’t thriving as they used to. One day, when you were lonely and missing your husband, you pulled out an old book on various flora and fauna. You must’ve spent hours upon hours learning about the area you lived in when you chanced upon a dash of blue.
Cornflowers, they were cornflowers.
The flowers on the plate you’d run under the faucet for far too long weren’t the same shade of blue, but they were just as pretty. It’s a shame that these plates would most likely be broken before the month was out.
Gods, when did he change? It was hard to pinpoint it because the two of you had been under each other’s spell for a good chunk of that time. When did he flip the switch? When did he… You shook your head and turned off the faucet, deciding you were done with the dishes for now. Accidentally, when you were placing the plate back in its place, you bumped your forearm on the counter. With a wince, you hissed and mentally reminded yourself to mind the bruises that were still fresh there. He gripped your wrist so hard that night you were sure it was going to snap right off.
He really wasn’t like this in the beginning and your mind raked constantly with reasons as to why when you laid awake at night hoping he wouldn’t go too far or burn a bridge only to find it needed to be rebuilt with supplies that no longer existed.
It was nearing the late evening and he wasn’t supposed to be home until later in the night. You could afford to relax for just a little longer. With a deep breath, you walked up the stairs dead set on drawing a bath to just let your mind go blank. Hidden away in the bathroom sink’s cabinet was a ‘mix’ of herbs and such a dear friend of yours had said would aid in relaxing your soul and maybe your wounds. You could only use the clumsy excuse for so long.
You opened the door to your bathroom, quietly shut it behind you and didn’t bother locking it. If he was here, you might have, but you weren’t expecting him back until much, much later. You could afford to breathe. You drew the faucet and let it run for a moment or two until the water got a little warmer, then you plugged the tub and let it fill. You crouched down and poked your hand around towards the back of the bathroom sink before finding the jar filled with herbs and salts. It smelled divine even when closed. Unscrewing the lid, you are able to take in the scent of lavender, chamomile, rosebuds, sweet lemongrass and vanilla. Pink sea salt for added effect made the bath look heavenly when you poured in a generous scoop. As the water heated the herbs, you notice the rosebuds blooming into large, pink and red flowers. It was nothing short of magickal and filled you with some type of serenity.
Once the water was to your liking, you stripped and got into the tub, sighing in contentment as the water heated your form up. And from there, you let your mind go blank and take in the aroma of the herbs and flowers. You feel the stress leaving your body. You wish you could feel like this forever.
You allow your brain to wander as you relax and find it going back to your husband every single time. If he wasn’t asked to sit next to you, would you have been in this awful situation now? This was no way to live - and you wondered if you had just gone to detention that day if things would be different, or perhaps better. You thought you were able to pinpoint when everything went wrong when yet another starting point would come into your mind. It was like your brain was purposely making you move the goalposts so you wouldn’t be retraumatized by anything all over again.
It started small and in little bouts. He lost his patience with you. If you accidentally burnt the pancakes? It was alright but don’t let it happen again. Over watered the petunias just once? Great, now he needed to go to the store and pick up some new ones should those suffer root rot that was relatively treatable. Couldn’t get dinner ready on time? What a mess. Said something slightly off base? Your intelligence was being actively questioned. It kept snowballing until it reached the first time he hit you. Which was a dark enough day that you rather not think about.
He said he loved you. That he would protect you and make sure you were safe from all harm. But he broke that the moment his hand slapped your face so hard you felt the air leave your lungs. That was a really dark day, but it was not the darkest yet.
You must’ve spent close to an hour in the bath when you heard the front door opening. Shit, he wasn’t supposed to be back. You feel your heart pounding as you leap out of the bath, quickly drying yourself before throwing your clothes back on. In your haste, you forget to unplug the bath. But it’s too late, you hear him coming up the stairs. Seconds later, he’s in your shared bedroom.
“Reader? Where are you?” He sounds exhausted. Upon seeing the bathroom door closed, he stalks up to it. “Reader? Open up, Princess.”
It’s not the first time he’s tried to soften the blow like this.
“I-I’m still in the tub-”
“Sure, sure, sweetie,” he hums. “Can you uh, tell me why you haven’t gotten any food ready if you were going to fuck around in the tub like this then?”
Your heart constricts and your stomach twists. “I didn’t know you were gonna be home this early,” you say softly, ready to brace the door.
“Oh you forgot,” he says as if he’s speculating whether that was a decent answer or not. “You forgot,” he repeats. He stands in front of the bathroom door, swaying slightly like he’s waiting for you to come to you. “Come out of the bathroom.”
“I just drew it-”
“Did I ask for your excuses?”
“No-”
“Then come out of the FUCKING BATHROOM!” He hits the door so hard you thought you heard it splintering.
“What the fuck are you doing?” You cried out as you immediately rammed against the door, struggling to keep your husband back from breaking it down.
He didn’t answer, only continued to rattle off about everything wrong. She kicked the door harder and harder, sending you bouncing against the wood. You continued to cry out in pain but dug your shoulder into the door as you prayed it would be enough to keep him out.
“Stop, stop, STOP IT!” You felt tears pour out from your eyes as your husband pounded the door. “You’re being crazy right now, stop it!” Your throat felt raw with anguish as you continued to screech, head coming dangerously close to bouncing against the door as your husband began kicking it.
Eventually, he succeeded. He backed up, reared his leg up and took three hard hits, successfully kicking the door down. You went flying down with it and tumbled down the tile floor with a yelp of pain, landing sharply on your hip. You looked up through your pain and saw he was standing before you, fists balled and nothing but rage in his eyes.
“I told you to fucking let me in,” he seethes as he narrows in on you. Before he can touch you, his eyes travel to the tub. “And now you’re clogging up my fucking pipes?” He asks in an exasperated tone as he feels his blood pressure rise. “You need to learn a lesson,” he sighs as he runs his fingers through his hair. “When dogs are just puppies and they have an accident,” he begins as he bends down to the ground and nears you as you struggle to crawl away from him. “You take their nose and bury it into their mess.” He finishes. He straddles your waist and sloughs off your weak attempts to get him off of you.
You continue to cry and scream, beg and plead as his hands snake up your arms and to your hair. And your eyes widen as he takes a fistfull and then roughly stands up, dragging your body up with him.
“You fucking dog,” he spits as he drags you upwards. He begins to drag you towards the tub.
“No, NO!” You plead as you dig your heels into the tile, trying to grip onto the sink for dear life as he continues to drag you. You feel your strands of hair damn near get lifted from your scalp as he continues to yank you. He’ll kill you if you don’t put up a fight. “I’m sorry! Gods, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! Whatever I did to piss you off I promise that it won’t happen again!” You attempt to reason as he finally pries your hands off the sink.
“You should’ve known that to begin with,” he replies as he pulls your hair harder. He then brings you to the tub and roughly shoves you to its lip. You catch yourself and try to get away when he pushes at the back of your head. You still continue to fight him, crying and pleading even harder as your husband kicks in the back of your legs, attempting to cripple you further to get you to bend. You continue to push back, staring into the now cold bath like it’s a watery grave.
A scream rips through your throat as he hits the back of your skull, having you gasping for air and consciousness. He takes that moment as your weakness and finally overpowers you. Your head is thrust below the waters, and you find yourself screeching all the while. From above the water’s surface, you can hear your once beloved husband muttering about you and the faults of your character as he holds you under the water. Before you can even register that air is in your lungs again, you’re plunged back into the water, coughing and hacking all the while as he does so.
When he grows tired of continually plunging your head into the water, he picks up your lower half and tosses you in, sending the water and herbs flying everywhere as your clothed body enters the freezing tub. Your tears mix with the remnants of the bathwater as he holds you under, nothing but rage in his eyes as he does.
When you feel like it’s too much, you begin to let go. Perhaps darkness would be a nicer sight than the sunrise of tomorrow.
You open your eyes slowly to see that you’re still in the tub and laying in a small pool of water that isn’t enough to harm you regardless of how you were laid. You feel aches all over and you feel like water is weighing down your lungs. Slowly, you get to your bearings as you prop yourself up. Step by step and painstaking muscle movement by muscle movement, you stand and grip the edge of the tub, realizing you need to change out of your clothes. You pause momentarily to look at yourself in the mirror.
“Gods,” you whisper to yourself. You look like you were in a car accident. There’s bruises on your throat and your face from where he tried to slam you into the bathtub, and your face is puffy and discolored from crying. Your hair is knotted and you feel like no amount of conditioner on earth can get that out - to even think about detangling it is a nightmare. Your clothes are ripped and waterlogged. Everything about you screams pathetic. When you turn your head and look at the door, you see it’s broken beyond repair. He kicked it out of its latches and the wood itself is splintered in two.
You quietly step out of the bathroom, ready to change into drier clothes when you see your husband sitting at the edge of the bed, waiting for you. You feel yourself begin to shiver, momentarily feeling your mind drift elsewhere to protect your brain from further trauma.
“You’re finally up,” he says, a blank expression on his face. “Are you okay?”
You feel disgust come up in the back of your throat but swallow it back down in favor of not angering him further. “I’m fine,” you lie, not bothering to plaster on a smile.
“Good.” He slowly stands up. “I’m heading out. Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.” He holds his arms out to you.
Shivering and absolutely terrified, you find yourself bending to his will. Quietly, you pad across the carpet to him and allow yourself to be wrapped up in his arms. His arms feel like a metal cage as they wrap around your quivering form.
“I’m sorry,” he says emptily as he buries his nose into your hair. “It won’t happen again.” He sways the two of you side to side as he holds you a little tighter, not bothering to mind the bumps and bruises he inflicted on your body.
You internally sigh and hollowly nod, allowing him to hold you.
He said that the last time.
It’s been a few days since your husband flew off the handle like that. Your husband stayed in the house, but like every time before, he pretended nothing had happened and instead vied for avoiding you. In a day or so, he’d be back to pretending he still loved you. But, your mind wasn’t entirely on him coming back to you and acting sweet - it was on everything in between.
See, this isn’t the first time that something of this caliber has happened to you. Convenience was something that seemed to pop up in your life more often than not, and you’d just accepted it. The first time you could remember it was when you were in your garage, trying to have a moment alone after your husband had shoved you into a wall for not making the potatoes the way he wanted (what a stupid thing to be upset over). As you sat at the workbench, sobbing quietly, your attention was pulled towards a thing of antifreeze. It was just propped up there. You don’t remember buying it, nor did you remember your husband buying it either. Neither of you regularly did car maintenance, nor did it seem like the kind used for a pool (which neither of you had). What on earth was it even doing here?
You quietly picked up the bottle and tossed it before your husband came calling for you to redo the potatoes.
The second time you noticed something much too conveniently placed was when the coffee in front of you was decaf. Your husband was terrible at waking up in the mornings, and the only thing that kept him up was his morning coffee on the drive to work. Well, one morning it was decaf in the keurig- and you almost didn’t notice it. The last time that happened, he’d almost swerved off the road. In a panic, you switched it to the right one before he noticed. If neither of you did, it could have claimed his life as the drive from your neck of the woods to the city was kind of dodgy in general.
The third most prominent time was semi-recently. You were cooking and once you finished, carried about your day. When you stopped by the kitchen to grab your keys and head to town for some shopping, you noticed that the gas was left on. Your husband was due to come home soon - if it stayed on for any longer, it might have killed him. Of course, you turned it off, but your hand lingered on the dial just a moment longer, wondering what would have happened if you didn’t turn it off. Feeling monstrous for even letting that thought pop into your head, you pulled back your hand like you had thrown it into the fire.
Those were just some of the most prominent things that happened. There were also little things that occurred as well, such as the TV always being clicked onto certain types of true crime documentaries entailing warring spouses, or the reading material being a tad too detailed in how to get away with things that obviously weren't legal. It started with petty theft, or piracy, and then moved onto other things that were much too unpleasant for you to even detail. All of these things seemed to be calling you towards something more sinister than you had ever imagined.
And until now, you’d managed to hold it all back. Sure, you entertain yourself by watching the documentaries and reading the material (which you wonder deeply who put it in your mailbox to begin with) but you never actually thought to harm him, did you?
It all came to a head a few weeks after the bathtub incident. He pushed you around plenty since then, but it hadn’t crossed the threshold like what happened back then - and that was enough to keep you at bay until this specific dinner. Apparently, your husband had missed out on a promotion given to someone younger and more ambitious than him and that killed him on the inside. He had a chip on his shoulder and he was dead set on taking it out on you.
“Gave it to that little prick,” he mumbles as he stabs at his food.
“I’m sure you’ll get it next time-”
“Next time? That’s half a fucking year away,” your husband replies as he bites down on his food. “Worthless job and can’t even move up in it. Stuck in this hellhole,” he continues to mutter as he stabs around.
Not wanting to even think about flaring him, you just drink uncomfortably at your water. “Is…” You close your mouth, not wanting to even hear his voice.
“No, no, finish your thought,” he says with a deep sigh.
“It’s not important.”
“My wife has something to say, she says it.”
“No, really I-”
“Jesus fucking Christ, Reader, spit it out.”
“Is the food okay?” You ask quietly as you avert your eyes to anywhere but at him. You gulp thickly, worrying that you’ve upset him further and lament even opening your mouth up to begin with.
“It’s awful,” he replies before taking another bite. “You must really be testing me, y’know that?”
“I’m sorry,” you murmur.
“I know.”
Uncomfortable silence passes between the two of you as dinner goes on with that same unease. You practically exude discomfort as you sit there, picking at your food and not wanting to even stomach it as long as this monster sits across from you. You wonder if your husband is going to go on one of his tangents when he answers that useless question by opening his mouth.
He talks a lot about how much he hates work, his coworkers, his lot in life, literally anything he could complain about and everything. He has such a hatred for the world around him that you wonder if it was always hiding just below the surface when you first met him. Probably. People tend to grow into who they were always meant to be as the years go on.
“And you,” he continues, pointing his fork in an accusatory manner at you. “You are the worst part of it,” he says as he narrows his eyes. He does this to you at every meal. And by the end of it, he’s always so riled up he almost breaks the plates. “Remember that girl, Jada? From honors math?”
You quietly nod.
“I should’ve married her. Girl with some brains and a nice ass,” he muses. “Instead I settled for you. Worthless, bruised and battered, puffy faced you,” he says with absolute vitriol, getting more and more riled up as his complaints carry on. “Hell, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have been thrown in detention again either.”
“That wasn’t my fault-”
“Oh so she speaks, does she?” He stands up.
You brace yourself.
“You know better than that,” he says lowly like a tiger waiting to pounce. “Than to talk back to me in my OWN GODDAMN HOUSE!” The plates and the dinner go flying off the table as he roughly shoves his arms across it.
There go the plates that reminded you of something nicer.
You immediately stand up and gasp, your chair flying back as you do so. Your hands fly up as your husband’s hands grip ar your wrists, his power taking over your frail form as he begins hurling you backwards to the countertop.
“Teach you to talk to me like that again,” he growls as he slams you down onto the counter, wrists not being jostled into his one hand. “You’ll never learn,” he mumbles, strill wrangling you down to the countertop.
From the corner of your eye, you could see him reaching towards the knife rack - and you see your very life fly before your eyes as he palms one.
You begin to repeat no like a mantra as he grips the knife and then lets go of your wrists, hsi hand going to the collar of your shirt. You cry out as your hands balled into fists and start punching, your legs being held by his body as his hand latches onto your throat and squeezes. Tears prick your eyes once again as his eyes flick down to your shirt.
“Stop!” You weakly cry out as his fingers dig into your flesh.
He raises the knife, a mad look on his faze as the steel catches the light. It shines, and then comes plunging down.
You scream as the knife is stabbed much too close to your neck, instead trapping you by snagging your shirt to the counter.
“You stay here and think about all the trouble you’ve caused,” he says in a ‘bubbling with rage’ tone as he shoves your head into the counter. “And clean up this mess.”
Once he leaves and slammed the front door shut, you pry yourself free from the knife and then fall to the floor sobbing, once again feeling your heart broken over your husband treating you so. But, once the rain fell, all that came was a ping - a spark. As you finally composed yourself and began cleaning his mess, the spark ignited to a flame that grew like wildfire in your mind’s eyes as you gingerly picked up the pieces of plates that you held such saccharine fondness over.
You couldn’t stand for this anymore.
With exhaustion sweeping over your body and the kitchen now cleaned, you allow yourself to move on autopilot and move upwards towards your bedroom. You don’t bother changing and plop down onto it. You stare at your ceiling, wondering if you should run away or - oh! Here comes a thought. With your eyes inching towards your nightstand, you finally give into the overwhelming feeling to open the drawer and you do so. Your hand gropes around before you finally touch something cold. Your mind lurches once you realize what it is.
You sit up, more than surprised to see the handle of a gun under your fingertips. On it is a sticky note with a smiley face: ‘don’t forget to turn off the safety :)’. A shiver of horror runs down your spine when you realize there’s a silencer attached to it. Gods, you knew he had a gun but a silencer? Everything about this - you knew it was wrong.
But holding it in your hand… That felt right.
You decided to stay quiet on things for now and think. Afterall, he was stronger than you. You couldn’t just confront him with the gun. He might wrestle it out of you and shoot you instead. You couldn’t take that kind of risk right now. So, you waited, looked over the gun some more, and waited.
Your husband entered back into the house at some gods awful time at night, more than pleased to see the house was back in order as it should be as he closed the door behind him. He was exhausted on all facets (though it could not hold a candle to how you were feeling) as he trudged up the stairs.
You laid in bed, pretending to be asleep. You knew what had to be done.
When your husband came in, huffed and got ready for bed, you itched for the trigger. You knew you had to act soon, but not too fast or he could hurt you again an take you out instead. Your breath hitched when you felt him sit on the bed and get comfortable, of course, turned away from you.
You took in a deep breath, closed your eyes, and held the gun in your hand once you felt him slip into sleep. The moments felt like hours as you quietly sat up and held the gun in your hands. Were you really going to do this?
Your mind flashed with hundreds upon hundreds of possibilities. At one point, a long time ago, you loved him. You loved him deeply and truly.
You took aim.
You shot.
Gods, if you knew it was going to be this hard to drag his body out here, you would’ve chosen a different place to shoot him. Dragging your now dead husband through the woods behind your house was an absolutely miserable process. You were working up a sweat as you did so and it was so dark that you could hardly make heads or tails of anything.
Finally, guided by the moonlight, you came to a place that looked more than decent. It was far enough, and the growth here was so heavy that if you tumbled the earth around, it would hardly look like anyone had disturbed it to begin with.
“Always making things harder on me,” you mumble as you toss his limp body back to the earth before you juggle the shovel you’d dragged along into your hands. You let your mind go blank as you began to cut into the soil.
A plethora of thoughts entered into your head as you shoveled away, making a deep enough hole to throw your deceased husband in. In a way, you didn’t think he deserved a hole this nice, but you knew deep down you had to hide the body. You continued to shovel, and once you finally made it deep enough to your liking, rolled his body into the ground.
“Didn’t think you had it in you,” a low, slightly gravelly voice chuckles, slow clapping.
“Who’s there?” You ask in a slightly panicked tone, holding the shovel up like a weapon. “I… I won’t hesitate-”
“Don’t make me laugh,” the voice continues, a playful bite on every syllable. “No, no, you did good.”
Your eyes frantically look around for the voice when you hear a whistle. There, behind you, is a man. Possibly mid 20s, shoulder length black hair, pale skin that rivals the light of the moon, wearing a hoodie covered in things you’d rather not think of and taller than you by a good head or so.
“You gonna put the shovel down?” He asks with a brow raised.
Hesitantly, you lower the shovel in your grasp just to let him get a little closer. Your eyes widen when you see he’s cut a smile into his face. “Who… Who are you?”
“I’ll tell you if you finish your job here,” he says as he nods to the uncovered, deceased body of your husband. “And before you go through the typical ‘oh my gods, are you gonna turn me in’ bullshit so many of you seem to go through, rest assured that I’m not gonna do anything to you. Just finish your job. Can you do that for me, Bird?” He leans against the tree, looking at you with a small smark.
A mind too frazzled for anything else, you nod and get back to work. It doesn’t take near as long to fill the hole as it did to carve it out, which was a pleasant surprise. When you were done, you wiped the sweat from your brow.
“What are you doing here?” You asked as you held the shovel firmly in your hands.
“Checking in on you,” he replies. “You want to go back to your house and-”
“No,” you cut him off, eyes averting down the ground. “Anywhere but there right now.” You say softly, gesturing to the disturbed earth.
The man pops off the tree and stalks over to the hole you’d covered, lightly shoving some foliage on top of it. “Okay, still sensitive. I get that,” he hums. “Follow me then. Let’s take a walk.” He nods for you to follow, blue eyes silently telling you to bring the shovel along with you.
Not wanting to be near his body anymore despite it being packed below the ground, you relent and follow.
“So, you did good, really good,” the man says as he puts his hands back in his hoodie pockets.
“Why do you keep saying that?” You ask, quickly matching pace with him. “And I never did get your name..?” You trail off slightly, taking in the deep scent of the woods around you. The scent of pine and autumn fills your nose.
“Because you did my job for me, and it’s Jeff,” he replies, his arm momentarily pushing back some low hanging pines. “I’ve been keeping tabs on you for a while, Bird.” He chuckles softly when he sees your confused expression.
“Really? Bird?” You repeat in a dry tone, face deadpanning at the very mention of it. “Job?”
“You’re flighty, like a bird, and judging by how fast you switch topics, bird.” He smiles, continuing to lead you further and further into the woods and away from your now empty house. “Little while back, I was asked to kill your husband. But, I saw you during one of my stalking outings and well, thought I could make things interesting.” He says it like it’s nothing and common knowledge.
“You what?” You ask in a surprised tone. “You stalked us?”
“Well, yeah,” Jeff says. “Normally, I don’t take that much care in my work. I tend to gut first and never ask questions, but you posed something interesting in my wake.”
“Holy fuck,” you murmur as you continue to trot throguh the woods. “We’re both going to jail.”
“Me? Absolutely not. You? Well,” he turns his attention to the deer path laid before the two of you and smiles at the open, moonlit field. “Depends on how you’ll answer my question.”
The two of you step through the remaining brush and finally reach the field. You had no idea this place was even behind your house or even so close. Tall grass rising to your waist sways gently in the wind as you step out of the trees and into the open air. Stars dot the sky as the moon hangs overhead. This place feels nostalgic. Out in the distance is a little stone structure, and upon Jeff taking you closer to it, it’s a little stone shelter.
“Take a seat, gonna be a while,” Jeff says as he rummages around in his pocket. He pulls out a lighter, bends down and lights the pieces of wood conveniently left inside of it, and the night is no longer cold.
You get comfortable and let your exhausted body rest. “Have you been watching me for long?”
“Longer than necessary,” Jeff answers as he cracks his back before finally getting comfortable. “But, I only watched you from a distance. Tell me about yourself first, let me know it wasn’t a mistake to let you breathe.” He smirks at you and winks, sending shivers down your spine.
You take in a deep breath, not really feeling anything but exhaustion and decide to tell him. You tell him everything, about your childhood, about little intricacies and so on. You told him about high school and how you met your husband. Little stories, anecdotes, memories and feelings resurfaced as you detailed how everything was bliss. And then one day, it wasn’t.
“Something in him snapped and went rotten,” you sigh. “And he hurt me. Hurt me really bad.”
Jeff looks up from the fire to see how the light dances across your skin. It’s here that he’s finally able to see the extent of your dead husband’s power over you. Bruises darker than your natural shade line your skin like oddly erased marks on a stubborn piece of paper. Your eyes are hollow, devoid of all life. Hair from your scalp is oddly placed as if it’s still trying to grow back. Your posture conveys nothing but pure exhaustion.
“I’m sorry,” he says in a tone that’s much more gruff than he originally means. It’s not that he doesn’t genuinely feel bad, it’s that he’s awful at actually verbalizing it. In truth, Jeff doesn’t like abusers. They make him feel wrong, make him feel like something’s not fair. Jeff like to fancy himself as someone who goes by the rule of ‘equality.’ If you pick on someone weaker than you with them having no chance of fighting back or at least inflicting the same damage back, you are nothing but a coward who gets off on hurting smaller people. And that in his mind is nothing short of detestable. “Guess good on me for letting you take him out, huh?”
You look at him with an odd mixture of confusion and absolute relief. “I guess,” you say, the sound of serenity slipping into your tone. “And what about you? What originally sent you out here?”
“Tall guy in a suit,” he stated, a small scowl pulling at his lips. “Y’know, he’s interested in you.”
“Tall guy in a suit?”
“Slender Man. I call him ‘Pale Ass’ though. He’s like… A murderous businessman. Has little drones to do his work even though he’s more than capable of doing it himself. And that’s where you come in.” Jeff shifts slightly and fixes his posture. “He’s the guy who originally wanted your husband dead. Sent me to do it.”
“Why did he want him dead?” You inquire. You knew your husband had done some dodgy things, especially with how strangely he was acting within the last few years as his abuse ran up, but you originally assumed he was cheating or something. Maybe into some other shady things. What on earth could he have done to garner the attention of some murderer kingpin?
“Saw something he shouldn’t have. My guess is Toby - maybe Theo. Both of them suck at covering up their tracks,” Jeff laughs slightly. “Probably saw one of us hiding a body, committing a murder, shit, he could’ve stumbled on some finals when he obviously shouldn’t have done that. Regardless, it got Slender’s attention, and now he’s dead because of it,” Jeff continues as he casts his eyes from you to the flickering flames. “You remember that night he fell asleep in his car in the garage?”
You nod.
“Almost took him out right there.” Jeff’s brows furrow slightly. “Something stopped me and then I saw you. The way he reacted to you asking if he wanted a certain type of potato made me giggle, and then I got a thought.”
“The antifreeze…”
“Yeah, the antifreeze. I’d noticed you were being pushed around for a while, honestly planning on taking you out to give you some rest but,” his eyes flash, “seemed more fun to get you into it too.” He sighs and leans back. “Was it cathartic?”
You find yourself uncomfortably shifting and wanting to answer with ‘no, of course not! I killed someone,’ before realizing that wouldn't be truthful. It was cathartic to put an end to his life. It was cathartic to finally bring justice for yourself in a way that no prison system would allow. “It… It was.” You admit, shyly and quietly like confessing to a bad secret.
“Feels nice to admit it, right?” He smiles.
“It does.”
“Now, imagine doing that to other pieces of shit,” he says as he sits up again. “Imagine being able to do that to every monster that’s ever hurt anyone just like you/”
You close your eyes and feel the red hot rage tingle your fingertips. Being able to unload on your dead husband was more than pleasing - in fact, it was nice, and dare you say, fun. The thought of being able to do that to other people who hurt others like that, while a far off possibility now as you were still frail, was still a possibility nonetheless.
“I mean, where else do you have to go?” Jeff continues, watching as you toss the thought around in your head. “You’d never get caught. He’d handle it all right now. You’d be free.” Jeff stands up and begins crossing the distance to meet you. His shadow walks alongside him. Dusk hangs in the air. “Or, if this isn’t to your liking, you can join him.”
“What?” You question, eyes flicking up from Jeff’s shoes to his eyes.
“You gotta understand,” he begins as he crouches in front of you. “If you say no and
decide to deal with the fallout like a normal human being, you’ll be caught and most likely killed for it. You’d be at the end of your rope.”
You feel an ocean of emotions swell up inside of you. “And if I… What would you even have me do if I followed you?”
“I’ll take you to meet him, and we’ll see what happens next. He’ll cover for you. You won’t ever have to see this place ever again.”
The sun begins to peek over the horizon. The fire is dying down. You can hear birds chirping in the early morning sky as fluffy clouds bid good morning to the dimming stars in the sky.
“Let’s get outta here, Bird.” Jeff stands up, holding out his hand.
You take in a deep breath, hand hovering over his. You thought of your husband, your life and everything that had ever happened to lead up to this moment. You’d gone this far, and there was clearly no going back. Another deep breath in and you pressed your hand down to his.
Jeff’s smile bloomed once again.

Change or stay the same - Han Jisung

song: Punching Bag -Wallice
warnings: none, even though there's a bit of angst if you squint your eyes.
Yellow washed over the white walls of the room, soon enough soaking the bed sheets that draped over his body. The morning was eager to greet him, light poking at his eyelids to speed up the process of waking him.
A groan slipped his rosy lips before he moved to nuzzle his face on the fluffy material of the sky colored pillow. He dreaded mornings the most; one of the hardest tasks of the day was trying to rip himself away from his sheets.
His lids grew heavy after a couple minutes, sleep tugging on his arms begging him to drift away and into oblivion. Humming in satisfaction his mind was about to shut down when a loud ringing noise filled the room, it was Changbin’s special ringtone.
“Shit,” he murmured groggily before stretching his arm enough to reach the nightstand without having to move away from his pillow.
Putting the phone right beside his ear the first thing he heard was an oh so sweet Where the fuck are you, Jisung? It’s eight already. Which was soon followed by a string of profanities leaving his own lips, almost seemingly pushing him to move frantically across his room.
“I’ll be there in ten.” Was the last and first thing he said to his friend before hanging up and throwing his phone to his bed.
There was no time for him to take a shower; it’s not like he was planning to take one but he sometimes liked to pretend that he would. He barely brushed his teeth, changed into the first things that popped out of his closet and groaned at his empty refrigerator before finding himself running through the crowded streets.
He wasn’t particularly stressed despite his palms growing clammy at the idea of having to come up with a good excuse for his tardiness; to a certain degree he loved running like a maniac in that big city that seemed to have too many places for him to discover despite having been living there for years now.
A light giggle escaped his lips as he turned around a corner, now meters away from arriving at his destination. Despite his empty stomach and lack of morning coffee, he seemed to have too much energy to spare.
It felt like nothing could stop him until he couldn’t move his feet anymore, the world stopped before his eyes and breath left his lungs. He swore he had seen a familiar face but it had soon disappeared between the crowd; still, just one glimpse of said person had his heart coming to a stop.
“What are you doing?” Filled Jisung’s ears before he blinked back to reality; it was his friend of similar height, head popping out of the entrance door he should’ve crossed earlier.
Quickly shaking his head as he dismissed the question thrown at him, he entered the building and apologized to the older man throwing a curious glance at him.
The ride on the elevator was filled with silence, allowing his head to be filled with questions and worries that now had nothing to do with the task at hand but rather the person he believed to have seen.
Silence finally dissipated when he entered the studio to face a more or less exasperated Chan, he was sometimes too serious when it came to work but Jisung totally understood, one of them had to have the tiniest bit of seriousness or it could turn to chaos.
“I’m so sorry, I—”
“You overslept, we know. Let’s just get to work.” Changbin interrupted before patting his shoulder reassuringly.
A sheepish smile covered his lips before his fingers reached towards the bag that he was supposed to be wearing, the one that had his laptop in it. There went another fuck because he knew he was forgetting something as he left his apartment but was quick to shrug off the thought.
“It’s okay, you can just log in here.” Chan was quick to say without even having to spare him a glance to know what was the problem. He was grateful to have friends who seemed to balance out his clumsiness perfectly fine.
Taking a chair and moving closer to the desk he grabbed the mouse and started clicking away. Second later the monitor eagerly asked him for the password of his email where he happened to have his lyrics noted down. Yes, he used google docs, so what?
He gulped down at the thought of what he was about to type; his password never seemed to represent a problem until today. It was the name of someone he had last seen years ago, five to be exact. He just never saw the need to change it, not when he could type it with his eyes closed or in his sleep; it had been the same since he was in high school and until today he hadn’t minded that it stayed like that.
“Dude, we need to work so hurry up.” That’s right, he needed to hurry and snap out of it. it wasn’t such a big deal, he just needed to type every letter of your name in the specific order he knew by heart and pretend that it hadn't been you on the street just now.
And so he did, typing it as quickly as any other day, pressing enter and getting access to everything he needed along with a million memories stored as videos and pictures.
He cleared his throat before getting to work, he didn’t have the guts to revive his high school days in front of his friends; perhaps not brave enough to revive them at all despite the place or people around him.
Once the three of them were certain that the sun outside was slowly flooding the city with small orange and pink tinges, they exited the building that guarded their creative mess. Each walking their own way, not before throwing one last threat at the youngest in hopes that tomorrow he’d open his eyes at the right hour. Laughing lightly Jisung nodded and walked away, eager to return home.
His landlord had a white cat with some brown spots that somehow added to its cuteness; just like any other day he pet it before quickly scurrying to the elevator and finally walking past three doors before finding himself in front of his apartment door.
When he found himself inside, the first thing he did was take a shower, one that this time he had actually been intending to take. Later sitting on his bed, towel still tousling his hair in attempts to dry it, his laptop found its way to his lap.
His fingers didn’t hesitate much before clicking on the right places that took him to those videos and pictures that brought him joy every single time. Biting on his bottom lip he finally allowed the towel to rest on his shoulder and pressed play.
The video revealed his freckled friend whose laugh could light up the whole world, he did something silly as usual before Seungmin popped up a little far away. In the middle of a park, they found themselves atop lush grass that welcomed their feet happily as they fooled around.
After some time filming the two boys the camera moved towards some swings where you sat, expression all too dull for the situation that you were in. That was it, the video cut there and the memories would finish at that moment if he didn’t clearly remember what happened next.
He had stopped recording, closing the small screen of the video camera before walking towards you, a worried expression taking hold of his features. Once close enough he sat on the swing next to yours, feet kicking the soil softly.
“I don’t want to leave this place,” you had mumbled by his side, catching him off guard.
“What do you mean?”
“Haven’t you thought about what will happen to us when we go to college. It’s months away and I’m terrified of leaving.” A heavy sigh escaped your lips, pupils moving to catch his gaze.
Next time you opened your mouth, the tone with which you spoke was way quieter as if you were scared of saying such things. “I wish I could stay here forever, with you guys, just being silly and worrying about nothing.”
Reaching his hand to grab yours he ended up intertwining his fingers with yours before sighing and smiling sweetly. “Nothing is going to change, we’ll keep being together. Trust in me, we’ll make it through.”
You had smiled brightly after he spoke, blindly believing in his words that ended up not becoming true. Soon after everyone parted away to college the distance had done its job at making communication difficult, a text a day turned into one every week, quickly it had been one a month and then nothing but each other’s contacts saved on your phones.
Living kilometers away everyone kept moving on with their lives not really knowing much about each other. The only thing that he now was aware of was about his own story, how he had met Chan and Changbin in college and their common interest and ambition had brought them to work together in what they loved.
Quickly closing his laptop and leaving it on his night stand he plopped himself down on his face. Seconds after reaching for his phone and looking for your contact.
His breath hitched once it appeared on his screen, all too familiar but quite foreign by now. He had stopped himself from calling you many times; when he was sober he convinced himself that you wouldn’t want to talk to him after he lied to you that one evening, when drunk he decided that you deserved better than a Jisung that made no sense and slurred all his words.
Nevertheless, he always thought of you like how one thinks about their first love that never happened, because that was the case. Your reckless mixed with your amazing sense of responsibility —that he had always admired— still haunted him at night along with your melodious laugh.
Finally deciding that it was now or never he pressed on your contact and pressed his phone to his ear, dying slowly at every loud beep that separated him from your voice. Without notice the line went silent for a moment before a strange voice spoke a soft hello?, it wasn’t you.
“Is y/n there?”
“No, I’m sorry. I think you have the wrong number.”
He thanked the stranger, trying not to sound utterly disappointed before hanging up and throwing his phone towards his pillow and sighing in defeat. It had never occurred to him that you could’ve changed your number in the past five years but it made sense.
It wasn’t the end of the world, he could later call Felix and ask him for your number —because Jisung was certain he would have it— but that could be left for when he ate something and felt less nervous.
Walking to his kitchen it suddenly popped in his mind, his refrigerator was empty and that meant no food he could simply stuff in his mouth. He cursed for the nth time that day.
“It’s okay, I’ll just go buy something to eat and then get some groceries on the weekend,” he said to no one in particular before getting dressed again and going out to wander around the city until he found a place that sold something edible, that would suffice.
On one particular street where he had to wait for the traffic light to change his heart came to a stop because this time he didn't see you but rather heard your voice calling his name, and upon turning around there you were, just like he remembered.
A hello meant to escape his lips but it got stuck on his throat when you smiled at him warmly; he loved you as much as that eighteen year old him that would do anything for you.
Without thinking much he hugged you tightly; you were quick to return his hug, convincing him that it would be the biggest mistake in the world to pull away soon. People walked past the both of you, some huffing in annoyance as you were in fact obstructing the street but for all that he cared everyone could go and fuck themselves.
When he finally broke away the hug some words came tumbling down of his mouth before he got the chance to think about them, “I was going to grab something to eat, want to come with me?”
The words surely took you by surprise as confusion plastered in your face for a second, but you nevertheless accepted his offer.
“So...what are you doing here?” he asked as both crossed the street, Jisung no longer wandering without a destination.
“I live here.” He threw you a confused look that couldn’t mean anything more than a since when? that seemed to amuse you greatly as you laughed for a second before answering. “I moved not far from here three months ago, for work.”
Nodding lightly he kept walking, silence moving at a fast pace to catch up with your moving figures on the street, but it was futile as you spoke up once again.
“It’s silly but— ”
“It’s not,” he retorted before an unknown force tugged at the corners of his lips with force, refusing to let his smile falter.
“—I had been wondering when we would end up stumbling with each other.”
Those simple words made his heart beat at a faster pace, aggressively thumping against his chest. After all this time you still had his existence present in your mind, not seeming to forget how he always talked about moving here once he was old enough when he was just a child.
“Well, I’m glad that we finally did.” A coward, that’s how he should call himself from now on as the words refused to slip past his lips. He should tell you that he had tried to call you, that he had also been wanting to see you, but he couldn’t.
Jisung had decided to bring you to a small dinner that was not only cheap but delicious; he smiled way too widely once you asked for the same you used to have and you questioned him with your eyes when he asked for coffee, he used to not be able to stand the bitter taste.
Hours passed as you both caught up with each other, apparently you still spoke often with Felix —which he already suspected all along— and had only recently decided to move out from the apartment you still shared with your college roommates, ending up in that lovely city by chance.
His eyes scanned every single centimetre of yours, the small dimple that formed on your right cheek everytime you chewed, the way your faint and discreet lip gloss had turned into a more lively lip tint, the ever so faint eye bags under your eyes that seemed to distinguish people your age.
“God, then Felix fell to that fountain, right?”
He snickered loudly before nodding in affirmation. “He had to walk all the way home completely soaked. He wouldn't stop complaining.”
The laugh that escaped your throat seemed almost nostalgic; it had been quite a while.
When you both crossed the door on your way out the only light covering the streets were those of the streetlights and some cars stuck in traffic. He offered to walk you back home and you immediately nodded in approval of his proposition.
In the blink of an eye he had turned to the high school Jisung that would walk slightly behind you, secretly wanting to reach out for your hand and intertwined his fingers without you, but not even now did he have the courage.
The walk seemed to be awfully short, perhaps because he didn’t want to leave you yet. You got your keys out and stood in front of your door but still facing him as if waiting for something.
“You changed your number.” Was the first thing he could think of saying to what you sighed awkwardly and answered him a quick I did.
“I would love to get something to eat with you again or just talk for a while. So I was wondering if I could have your number.” His eyes closed mid sentence, feeling embarrassed about his sound lack of ability to say something that wasn’t awkward.
Thankfully you seemed to want to spare him some suffering, quickly asking for his phone so you could add your contact, sneakingly adding a cheesy heart after your name. And when you were about to close the door you turned around and asked one last thing, “How did you know? You know, that I changed my number.”
He didn’t like the implications of that question, almost as if you were implying that it would be impossible to know if he hadn't tried to contact you, which you seemed to believe he hadn’t tried to do so all this time.
“I called you and someone else answered.” You nodded softly at his words, a feeling that he couldn’t quite comprehend pooling in your eyes before closing the door.
Yes, he should’ve called you sooner, should have texted Felix asking for your new number a million years before but he never thought of it despite always thinking of you. He had gotten so caught up with every present day that he had forgotten what he was leaving behind; but now you were part of his present and he was determined to keep you there.
It didn’t feel like he was on a cloud as he made his way back home, it rather felt somewhat heavy as he thought back on the last look in your eyes. If he could then he would run back to your door and wouldn’t leave until a smile hung on your lips, but he was scared of overstepping his boundaries.
His bed felt less comfortable than usual but that was usual on the navy nights that lyrics haunted his mind. And so he found himself on his usual spot on the floor of his room, guitar lazily placed on his lap, laptop sitting on the floor making him have to slouch himself to properly type down what he wanted.
At one point he fell asleep, not caring about the hard wooden floor under his back or the cold air nipping at his skin. Until he moved, guitar complaining about the position it had been placed at. His eyes snapped open and he quickly reached his hands around the floor until they found his phone.
One long yawn and then his eyes were being met with an almost perfect 05:59 that quickly turned to 06:00. He still had a solid hour and a half of sleep but he still found his feet colliding with the pavement of the street, later reaching a coffee shop near the studio.
He exited the place with the ring of a bell and an iced americano seeping cold into the warm skin of his hand. A pleased smile grazed his lips upon the first sip, he was now more ready than ever to start his day.
Not long after his friends were exaggeratedly gasping in surprise behind his back upon reaching the studio and finding the younger there. He clicked away shamelessly, never daring to feel embarrassed in front of them, not when it came to music and his sometimes peculiar lyrics.
“A love song?” Chan snorted while peeking over his shoulder, only causing a light blush to spread across his cheeks. He only shrugged it off before continuing his work.
Hours passed and as the sun reached its peak his fingers found their way to his phone screen, clicking on your contact and quickly typing a short message before he started overthinking his way to never speaking to you again. Only then noticing the heart that you had placed beside your name; it made his heart do a flip
He typed a quick and simple question, asking if you were free at seven; soon after you replied with a lovely yes that made him giddy. His expression must have radically changed because Changbin felt free to question him and try to take a peek of his screen.
“Hyung!” Jisung said annoyed while scooting away a couple of centimetres, his friend just giggled in content and left him alone.
Taking into account that his apartment was a mess he quickly convinced you to hang out at yours to what you even ended up offering to make dinner for both of you with a sweet If you get the ingredients then I’ll be happy to cook.
So as soon as he had the chance he shouted farewell to his friends as he hurried to his apartment to get ready and buy the things you had asked him too, feeling all too happy and young. It’s not like he was old but everytime he thought about you now he felt like a child, back at 15 or even worse, younger, not knowing what to do except stare at your messages with complete infatuation.
His knuckles hesitated before colliding with your beige door twice, quickly and with enough force to make his presence known to you who opened with a tender smile barely reaching your eyes.
When he entered he couldn’t help but allow his eyes to linger around every small detail that the place held. The grey cushion went delightfully well with the subtle tones of yellow and cerulean, those matching with some accents you had added on the walls.
Only then he noticed that just as your number changed you could’ve too, he knew all about the you who had survived school by his side but almost nothing about the person who lived on that tidy apartment that smelt faintly of vanilla.
He turned around to find the image of you moving freely in the kitchen way too endearing to look away. Your hands got everything he had brought out of the bag and your back greeted him with a sense of familiarity he could get used to.
A second later you turned around, a playful smile crinkling the corners of your eyes. “Are you going to help me or are you just going to stand there?”
Jisung chuckled before throwing a small apology to the air, walking to your side and not forgetting to push his hips to meet yours. Grabbing some vegetables he moved to the sink to wash them, that was one of his specialties in the kitchen.
You hummed along at a non existent song while he dried his hand on the kitchen towel, watching you cook without major effort. Out of nowhere your eyes travelled to his, making him freeze on his spot for a second.
“I missed you,” you said with ease, showing him that those words weren’t as hard to pronounce as he had been thinking since he hugged you on the street.
He was about to answer, finally allowing himself to take the proper time to express how happy he felt about your presence when you turned around and walked a couple steps towards him, gaze saddening ever so slightly. “Why didn’t you call me in all this time?”
“Well...” He sighed loudly, contemplating the option with which he could respond. I was scared? Well sure, he was but that wasn’t really the reason. I forgot? More like it but it definitely sounded rude enough to gain the wrong reaction from you. I love you? No, that wasn’t the answer to this question in particular, but it sure was an answer he would have to say at one point.
At the silence that installed in the kitchen you sighed before speaking. “When we first started getting distanced I was really discouraged, but every single time I feared we wouldn’t talk again I remembered something you told me once. God, maybe you don’t even remember.” Jisung’s gaze softened once again, of course he knew, how could he forget how he lied to you. “You said ‘Trust in me, we’ll make it through’, even now it brings me such peace to think back at the certainty with which you said that.”
You walked towards the couch, sitting and patting the cushion beside yours to urge him to do the same.
“Those words healed me during the hardships that I went through, they gave me hope that no matter how much time passed we still remained the same, all of us.” You sighed loudly and looked at the floor. “But still, I couldn’t help wondering why? Were you too busy? Not interested enough? Had you forgotten about me? And at some point I blamed you until I realized that I could’ve texted you too, or perhaps called you. But I was so caught up in being scared that I never made a move, and without realizing the years had passed by.”
After a short pause you moved your eyes to meet his again, filled with melancholy. “So, I didn't call you because I was too much of a coward and I accept it.” Jisung chuckled lightly, earning a small laugh from you as well. “So why didn’t you?”
He sighed once again before leaning back on the couch, to which you followed seconds later, resting your head on the back of the couch while looking at him with an intense gaze.
“Did you know that your name was my email password when we were in high school?” he began; you immediately shook your head to deny knowing. “It still is. I hadn’t seen you in five years and still your name keeps being my password. I typed it every time I got a new phone, when I forgot my laptop and had to log in elsewhere, all the time, your name.”
He stole a glance at your face and smiled widely before looking at the ceiling, white and with the smallest crack on one corner of the room. “There wasn’t a second that I didn’t think of you and not a moment in which I didn’t have the intention of calling you.
There were times in which I was way too caught up in my life and what I had in front of my eyes but that wasn’t enough excuse. Just like you said, one day I realized that it had been too long and I felt too guilty to do it. I had promised you we wouldn’t drift away and then there I was, months of not exchanging a single word with you and an incredible amount of guilt tying my hands to my back.”
“I lied to you and then convinced myself that I had no right to face you after,” Jisung finally said, embarrassment creeping up to his cheeks at how his statement sounded out loud.
“But you didn’t lie to me, at least not entirely,” you quickly retorted, earning a quick snort from him.
“Well damn, thank you so much. Now I feel way better.”
Rolling your eyes and hitting his arm lightly, you continued, “You said we would make it through and here we are; being away from each other wasn’t the end of the world. We, well, I was too childish back then to think that our relationship changing a little would be the end of the world.
We were kilometres apart, of course our relationships would change but in the end it didn’t change that much. I mean, look at us. You just revealed an embarrassing secret that will cost you your email.”
He threw you a warning look before you giggled. “After all this time we can still talk freely, it’s just a matter of catching up where we left off and going back to our old rhythm.”
A matter of catching up and going back to our old rhythm. The first part had put his calm at ease, the second one not so much. He didn’t want to go back exactly to what you had; you had just said it yourself relationships change and he wanted this one to do so as well.
He reached his hand to grab yours, finally intertwining his fingers freely with yours after years of hesitation. Throwing you one last look he just muttered, “Or change.”
“Or change...” you repeated after him, adding with mischief something else, “like your password should if you don’t want me lurking around your email.”
“God, you have such a way of ruining things" You snorted and he sighed in defeat. You were still a dork and that would never change, like his password; remaining the same that he loved.

Adopted!JK x Detective!Noona - Oneshot/Drabble
Warning: taboo relationship, angst (manipulation/unhealthy boundaries)
Word: 1,855
Synopsis: Jungkook prepares to surprise you during Halloween but you have other plans that fuel his insecurities.
A/N: I combined most, if not all, of the drabble ideas you guys sent me. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this drabble that is borderline a oneshot! ♥ Everyone had such wonderful ideas I couldn’t just choose one. I also had to force myself to stop writing because it was going to turn into a chapter.
Jungkook just wanted to spend Halloween with you in peace. That was it. Just you and him, in front of the television, wrapped under a single blanket, wearing matching clothes and drinking warm tea. He even planned to order food from your favorite fried chicken restaurant with the little money he made doing art commissions. It was supposed to be a surprise and you were supposed to be jumping with joy when you see him holding two tea mugs in his hands, wearing a pumpkin patterned pajama pants and a large plain white cotton shirt big enough for you to climb inside in its warmth.
Is it surprising that when you walked downstairs, saddle bag in hand, dressed in an outfit he’s never seen before (a dress that was certainly revealed too much of your decolletage), he would be furious?
“Where are you going, mom?”
He can feel his stomach drop when your bright eyes suddenly dimmed upon seeing the cups in his hand and his eyebrows furrowed.
“I…” You struggle to find the words, knowing that his gaze is steadily trailing up and down your body. You’ve never dressed like this for any of your previous dates and Jungkook dreaded that you were going to end up in another man’s house, in another man’s bed, and come back reeking of this bastard’s cologne.
“I have a d-date,” your meek reply comes as you walk down the last few flights of stairs and open the shoe closet, grabbing a pair of boots and a clean pair of socks, your back towards him.
“With the same guy?” Jungkook’s voice lowers and you can hear the clinking of porcelain as he sets down the mugs on the coffee table, next to the rental DVD.
You nod. “Yeah.”
When you risk a glance towards him, you regret it immediately. Jungkook’s fists are clenched at his sides, his jaw is tight, and his eyes gleamed with unshed tears.
“Kookie,” you sigh, dropping your shoes back onto the rack to stride towards his tall figure cloaked in semi-darkness. “I’ll be back soon, maybe around midnight, okay?”
“The last time you said that you didn’t even come home. I was worried sick.” Jungkook pulls away from you when you reach to place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“I’m a detective,” you chuckle, hoping to lighten the mood. The pitter-patter of the rain outside isn’t helping nor is Jungkook’s anger seeping out of every pore. “You know there’s nothing to worry ab-“
“It’s easy for you to say, mom. It’s easy for you to pick up your bag and go because you never look forward to our plans like I do. You never think for a second that maybe I want to spend the night with you and not have to wait for your leftover time like…like a pet.”
Has he always felt that way? It seems almost impossible given you spent your waking hours showering him with affection.
You pressed your lips together. “I didn’t know we were going to spend time today and I always, always prioritize your needs above mine. Don’t ever say that to me. Where is this coming from? Jungkook, if you need me to-”
Whatever you said might have struck a nerve within him for he flinched backwards, shaking his head.
“Forget it,” Jungkook takes the mugs back from the coffee table and paces towards the kitchen, knowing you’re trailing behind in concern as you struggle once more to keep him calm.
He knows he’s being unfair. He knows that you may have forgotten to tell him you were going on a date today, that it was his fault for planning a surprise on a holiday when you’re free from work. You only went on your rare dates on your day offs when you didn’t need to go grocery shopping or tend to other household responsibilities. The fact that you bought a new dress tells him all he needs to know about how much you looked forward to this night, even forgiving his snide remarks about your date when you first introduced him months ago. You don’t deserve to be treated this way and it makes Jungkook’s eyes fill with tears not just from frustration but from guilt that you ended up with him, a burden. This wounded, bleeding burden of a boy who falls more and more in love with you as the years go by.
Jungkook hates your little dates where you most likely had sex before coming back to him. The idea of a man kissing your soft nipples, your full hips, the inside of your thighs – it makes him sick with wrath. Jungkook hates that you still see him as the boy you took under your wings all those years ago. Jungkook hates that you’re so comfortable walking around in a towel in front of him because you don’t see him as a man; he knows you would never be that carefree with a date. He owns a piece of you that no other man can see. But his punishment is that he’s kept in this mold of the adopted son he desperately wants to be rid of. Changing his body to become stronger, becoming independent, pretending to be mature most of the time about the idea that a stepfather can appear in his life at any time – Jungkook was sick of it. He was sick of it all.
He throws the mugs in the sink, the two porcelain clattering in cacophony as it hits the sink and cool tea swirls down the drain.
“Jungkook…” your strained, mournful voice reaches his ears and his heart breaks. He can’t breathe, he needs to get out of there, he needs to get out fast.
“Kookie, wait-” You reach for him once more but he turns back into the living room, taking the rental DVD in his hands before he takes the flyer for your favorite restaurant laying haphazardly and balls the paper in his fist.
He skips up the stairs, noticing that you didn’t follow him this time. Somehow that makes it hurt even more.
Jungkook throws the DVD and paper on his bed and opens his closet, reaching for a pair of black sweatpants and a matching hoodie. He sheds off the plain shirt and pajama pants (so much for October festivity) and quickly change into the black set, keeping an ear out for the sound of the front door closing. He grabs his cellphone, his wallet, and keys off the textbooks stacked on his desk and shoves them into his pocket. For a moment he catches his reflection from the mirror pinned to the closet door and Jungkook decides, from his teary red face, that he hates himself more than he hates your dates and your cluelessness.
He’s gotten taller, much taller, stronger, smarter, but emotionally he is still the boy you rescued all those years ago. He’s still the boy who looked up at you and called you his superhero and smiled through the bloody black and purple bruises on his face when you held him and sobbed.
Jungkook slams the door shut behind him as he walks away from the comfort of his bedroom. Stepping down the stairs, he’s surprised to see you sitting on the couch, your feet still bare and your phone clutched in your hand. Why haven’t you left?
“Kookie I’m-“ You pause. You take notice of his attire and take a deep breath. “Where are you going?”
“Out.”
“Out where?”
He shrugs. “I don’t know.”
“Please don’t do this,” your voice cracks and Jungkook grinds his teeth. Yes, he hates himself more than ever. He’s self-centered, dramatic, and immature, he thinks, it’s no wonder you won’t see him as anything other than a child. Hell, being regarded as a dog would be better.
“Just go on your date, mom. Sorry for ruining your perfect night or whatever and tell him I said hi.”
Jungkook walks past you to grab his backpack. He won’t be able to focus on schoolwork and he doesn’t have anywhere else to go except Jimin’s house yet he slumps the bag over his shoulder anyway.
“I canceled the date. I’m not going anywhere,” You grab his sleeve, halting him in his tracks before wrapping your arms around him. He’s gotten so large that your fingers barely touch when you hold him.
He’s silent for a second, harsh breaths gradually fading to soft sighs when he hears you sniffle once and lay your forehead on his back.
“…You didn’t have to do that.”
You shake your head. “I should have expected that you’d do something special.”
“It’s not your fault…” Jungkook can see the porcelain cups in the sink from where he’s standing. His cup and yours, the handles designed to fit each other like puzzle pieces. “I’m…I’m just…”
How does he admit that he’s throwing a tantrum because he wants you all to himself? How does he admit that it was unreasonable of him to expect you to read his mind? How does he admit that his heart feels like it’s about to pounce right out of his chest when you’re not near him? It was embarrassing enough for him to slip into your bed at night while you sleep, lying about his nightmares to earn the privilege of your gentle fingers brushing through his hair in your sleepy daze. He might die of shame if he admits that he’s been daydreaming about a night like this when you can be at ease and when he can pretend he’s your lover and pull you close.
Halloween has always been a tradition – not a strict tradition but a tradition nonetheless that is not disrupted by strangers. He’s way past the age of bouncing off the walls for candy and horror movies but he’d hoped that, the older he gets, this ritual of spending time with you and living out a part of his fantasies during special days won’t perish.
“I’m sorry, mom.” Jungkook murmurs at last, letting the rattle of the kitchen windows from the rain keep him grounded. “I…I didn’t mean to be like this. I wanted to surprise you and I just…I got angry and it wasn’t right. I’m sorry. Can you call him again and-?”
“No.”
Jungkook swallows. Forgiveness feels so out of reach. It feels…
“I don’t want to call him.” You continue. “I want to be here with you…if you’ll have me.”
He turns, making you tilt your head towards him to reveal your watery eyes, and wrap his arms around your shoulders, burying his face in the crook of your neck. Your perfume smells like heaven. You smell like heaven and you feel ever better pressed to him; soft against solid, molded like the puzzle piece patterned mugs in the sink.
“Do you even have to ask, mom?…I want you here with me. It’s…it’s okay, right? You won’t be mad at me?”
You peck his cheek, tucking your sorrow deep inside like the same way you’ll fold this new dress into a bag and return it to the boutique.
“I will never make you feel alone.”

Teachers Pet-chapter 19: the universe
Tumblr media
All chapters
chapter 18
Nothing crazy happened in DADA today and I was heading to potions with Draco, we were going over the properties of Amortentia in hopes to brew it perfectly with no mishaps. I was also a bit worried, I was aware that the way it smells is different for each person, and I was afraid to find out what mine smelt like. We walked into class and took our seats, still quizzing each other on each step.
The bell rang and everyone was seated waiting for instructions. "Open your books to page 324 and begin prepping your tables as usual, all the ingredients are here and you know where your supplies are, get started and let me know if you have any questions, please do not make me have to take my time to clean up any messes." he said coldly and sat back down in his chair. I went up and got the cauldron and our ingredients. "Ok Y/n would you like to do the honors and I'll stir it this time?" Draco asked smiling "If you really trust me then yes" I said laughing, I worked on this for so long with Snape so I should be able to do it perfectly! I just needed to focus and not overthink it, it was a simple potion and if Draco can do it, so can I. I added peppermint flowers and leaves, powdered moonstone, and Draco stirred between each teaspoon, I then sprinkled in the rose thorns and placed in the Ashwinder eggs. Draco watched closely as I did so making sure I was getting everything correct. After letting it sit we uncovered it and stirred it counterclockwise and it took on its pearl sheen. I smiled wide and refrained from jumping up and down. "Hell yes" I whispered to Draco "We did it!" he said high fiving me. I looked up at Snape and we made eye contact. I motioned to the cauldron and smiled, to which he returned with a very small faint one and turned back to his work. I felt butterflies again and a sense of joy that I succeeded for him again.
"Ok now take a whiff Y/n'' Draco said, "What? no you first" I said afraid of what may happen. "Ok ok fine." he leaned over and took in a light sniff, I looked at him expectantly, "Well?" I questioned looking at him thinking of what it smelt like "Hmm it smells sweet like warm cookies and pumpkin juice" he said with a confused look, "ha you know who likes pumpkin juice?" I said teasing, "Who?" he questioned seriously trying to figure out who it was, "Harry" I said smiling. "Oh buzz off Y/n It certainly does not smell like Potter, that's absolutely revolting" he said a little too defensive, I shrugged my shoulders and giggled, "Your turn! Better hope it doesn't smell like Filch!" he said trying to tease me like I did him, I cringed at the idea and leaned over the cauldron I took a deep breath preparing myself, I closed my eyes and took in a small whiff, "Well what do you smell?" Draco said, waiting. I opened my eyes and took it in, "Um, just pine trees and rain" I said lying, I took another whiff and the scent of old leather shoes, parchment, and firewhiskey filled my nose, I closed my eyes once more taking it in and letting it linger, "I'm gonna use the restroom" I said to Draco, walking past Snape not bothering to ask and exiting the class, I quickly walked outside, shaking hands and began to take deep breaths, counting to ten and doing everything in my power to keep the tears that brimmed at the edges of my eyes in. I can't. I couldn't deal with this right now, none of this made any sense. A hot tear ran down my cheek and I quickly swiped it away. No not right now, not here. I closed my eyes shut and the smell lingered in my brain. How could this be possible? I leaned over my hands on my face, trying to slow my heart back down. How could it smell like him?
"Mr. Malfoy where did Ms. L/n just run off too?" Snape asked, noticing she darted from the room. "She said she had to use the restroom, I'm guessing it was an emergency." Draco stated. "Yes, well pour the potion into a vial and get to cleaning up" he ordered the boy and walked out of his room.
I looked to the sky again wanting to scream at the universe. Of all the people in the world. There had to be something wrong with the potions? Or my nose? There's no possible way this was real? I mean there's no way he's- I began crying at the thought that the one person for me was the one person I couldnt have. "This was just supposed to be some silly little crush and now I've just found out my whole future" I sighed to myself. I refuse to believe it, I must have it mistaken, I mean lots of people probably smell like this, its very popular scents. I thought as I wiped my tears, the pressure was getting to me and I couldn't help it. There was a light mist falling and my hair grew a tad frizzy and my skin damp. "Ms. L/n what's going on?" I stood up straight at the sound of his voice. No. why is he out here what's he doing? "Nothing, I'm fine I'll be back in a minute" I said, trying my best to sound like I hadn't been crying. Now wasn't the time I needed him here to comfort me, I wanted more than anything to run and hug him and let him hold me in his arms, but the thoughts of what this all meant were reminding me of why I couldnt and why I'd never be able to. "Did Mr. Malfoy say something?" he pressed on "What? No, I said I'm fine" I said sniffling quietly and still not turning to look at him, "You can't just run out of class Y/n, what happened?" he said in a more stern but soft voice walking closer to me. "I just needed some air, that's all I felt l-lightheaded" I said, tears forming again as I thought about the scent that was now growing closer to me. "Do you need to go to the infirmary?" he asked, slowly growing closer. "No, I'm fine" I said thinking about what the hell I'm going to do with this information. I mean what does this mean? Am I gonna be alone? Will it change once these feelings pass and I can find someone else? I knew the answers to these, but I wasn't going to accept there was nothing I could do.
"Y/n tell me what's the matter?" he said putting his hand on my arm and turning me to face him, I looked down tears still flowing down my face, this situation was becoming all too familiar. Why did we keep finding ourselves here? "Y/n." he said, wanting me to spill my heart out like id done in the tower, but I wasn't going to, I couldn't, "Y/n come on." he said in a calm tone. I looked up to him wiping my tears and then looked off to the side. "I can't, it's none of your business." I said in a calm but stern tone. "You said we were friends right? So tell me what troubles you or else I may need to inform Albus." he said, not taking his gaze from me. I looked up at him "Are you going to continue to threaten me with my godfather everytime I dont tell you something?" I said upset he was using this factor against me, "As long as it works yes" he said with a slight smirk. "When you brew Amortentia what do you smell?" I asked looking at him in his eyes, they flashed with a sense of regret and he looked away for a moment "I don't see how that matters?" he said looking back at me. "Well when I did it, I smelt the same someone I was troubled over at the tower, and I'm not sure what kind of sick joke the universe keeps playing, but i'm not gonna be able to withstand the...humiliation any longer.'' I spat out getting more frustrated and another tear falling. He sighed and looked at me, "No don't say anything, I need to get back to class, just pretend this never happened ok?" I said wiping my tears and looking up at him. His hair was lightly dusted with mist and his face looked sadder than normal, he looked empathetic and concerned, his skin beautifully painted with the damp water and his dark eyes clear through the mist. He looked so handsome. I walked past him and headed back inside not wanting to risk him reading my thoughts and picking up on my emotions and what was causing them.
Draco didnt question anything and after class I went to visit Albus before dinner. I needed family right now and some of his wise words. I waited outside his office and it opened up. I walked in and was greeted by the kind old man. "Ahh evening dear, how are you?" he said smiling as I just silently walked over and hugged him, "Oh whats wrong my child? Bad day?" I laughed lightly and let go, he sat down in his chair, hands crossed as I paced back and forth. "You could say that." I said sarcastically. "We brewed Amortentia in potions today" I said slowly walking around his office. "Oh and how did that go?" he said innocently, I know he knows everything, so I know he knows I didn't have the easiest time. "I just feel like the whole universe is against me you know?" I asked laughing. "Yes I'm aware of the feeling" he said smiling still. I went and sat down, my feet draped over the arm of the chair. "Is it possible someones cursed me?" I said looking at him. "Possible, but unlikely" he said offering me a lemon drop. I took it and popped it in my mouth. "Well if karmas real, what did I do to deserve this punishment?" I questioned looking up at the ceiling. "Well what happened that you believe is a punishment?" he asked patiently. I looked at him and swung my legs back over to face him. "I smelled the potion, and it told me that i'm never gonna be happy" I said shrugging "Do smells talk to you often y/n? He said grinning through his half moon spectacles. "Haha you know what I mean." "Well how can you be certain? Is the person dead?" he asked looking at me. "No" I said in a small tone. "Is the person in Azkaban?" I looked at him noticing what he was doing "Nooo." He placed his hands on his desk and leaned forward a bit, "then how can you be sure?" he questioned. I pondered for a moment, "You don't understand, I literally can't be with this person, they'd never feel the same, and it just won't work." I said sighing, "Well the universe is never against you my dear, it may feel so, but everything that happens, no matter good or bad, happens for a reason. And the universe has a plan, so if it wanted you to know your person is easily accessible, for lack of better words, then it would have. Never underestimate its powers." I listened deeply and took in everything he said. "So you're saying it is possible this may not be as irrational as it seems?" I said still confused "Im saying its more than possible." I smiled up at him and walked around his desk hugging him. "Thank you" I said smiling and waving as I headed to leave for dinner.

Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x F!Reader
Summary: Your bed & breakfast has a new regular...Jeon Jungkook of BTS
Tumblr media
You shuffle into your office, still a little sleepy despite having a shower and having a steaming cup of coffee in your hands. You weren’t sure what the cause of it was, but you’d been entirely too restless to sleep well. Too much excitement, perhaps?
You shrug to yourself and sit into your office chair with a loud yawn, ruffling your still damp hair as you power on your laptop. You still hadn’t received any reservations for this week and you were hoping someone would come by for the weekend at least. You had some honeymooners reserved for next week, but that didn’t help you now. An entire week without guests would put a noticeable deficient in the books.
That’s why when you pulled up your check-in program and saw that you’d been booked for the entire week by a single client, you had to verify that you weren’t still asleep. You pinched yourself and cringed at the pain, staring again at the program.
Sure enough, it was all still there. One client, for seven days straight. They’d booked the biggest room upstairs, the only one up there besides your own. What was incredibly strange is that they changed the offered rate. Normally, you were one of the cheapest places in the area and charged $120 a night. Not bad for one of the more expensive areas in Northern California. This person was offering you a deal of $300 per night, along with fees for meals and a hefty “to be discussed” tip if you were to close reservations for anyone else. They were trying to rent the whole place? So probably some celeb going for anonymity by hiding in an unknown B&B.
You shrugged. It wasn’t that crazy, although most local celebs tended to hang out in Carmel rather than around here. And it certainly wouldn’t be the first one you’d hosted, simply the first one that had been so generous. The other two were well-known names and you’d been expecting a hefty tip from them but they’d been surprisingly tight-fisted. One had even tried to argue your nightly fee down in exchange for using the name of your place on his social media. You’d been happy to decline.
While a little more business would be nice, you didn’t want the place overrun. You wanted it small and cozy. Safe, for yourself as well as your guests. The whole purpose of the place was to have somewhere calm and comfortable to escape to.
This person must be especially desperate if they were booking the entire place to be alone. There wasn’t a mention of them bringing any other guests with them. You exhaled noisily and clicked accept, sending them a little welcome email with all the instructions they’d need. You wondered with a self-amused grin if you should start putting a little footnote mentioning that celebrity scandals or drug-filled parties were not allowed on the premises.
You lean back in your chair when you’re done, taking sips of your now luke-warm coffee as you think over everything that you have to do to get ready. According to the form they filled out, they’d be arriving that evening. You kept the house in shape daily so you didn’t have much to do in the way of chores, but you should make a menu for the week, get the fireplace in the room prepped, and hit up a few of your friends for the local event tickets.
Thor comes up and bumps your thigh, reminding you that you still had to take him out.
“I got you, buddy,” you chuckle, standing up with a groan and going to fetch his leash. “We have a long day ahead of us, and then maybe you’ll have a new friend for a bit, huh? You gotta be on your best behavior.”
Thor barks softly and you pretend he’s answering you instead of demanding you hurry the hell up with your shoes. You decide at the last minute to throw on a hoodie too since the temperature was lowering fast. You hiss as you step outside and hope that Thor manages to get his business done fast. But even the chill wasn’t enough to bring down your mood. Today was going to be a great day. You could just feel it in your bones.
****
You had just finished putting another batch of cookies in the oven when you heard someone arrive and ring the little bell you kept on the front desk.
“Good evening! I’ll be right there, but go ahead and shut the door if you want!” You holler from the kitchen as you wash your hands.
You’d left the door open just in case they came around while you were putting around the place, but now that they were here you could finally turn on the heater.
You dry your hands and pat down your shirt and pants as you walk, hoping you didn’t look too casual. Jeans and a flowy blue button-up blouse with matching flats seemed casual yet comfortable. And you were wearing your pearls just in case they were the stuffy sort that would look down on you for not looking at least a little professional.
“Hi, welcome to Sanctuary! I’m -”
“Hey, Noona,” a cheeky-toned voice answered as you turned the corner and entered the foyer.
Your eyebrows fly up as you see the tall figure standing there. “Jungkook?”
He looks...fucking glorious. Black pants that look like they are painted on tucked into those stomper boots he seems to love. Plain black t-shirt tucked into his pants and a blue flannel shirt over that. Sitting next to him is a large black backpack that is easily half as big as him.
He grins cockily and leans against the desk. “They gave me a couple of weeks off so I’m here on vacation. Please take care of me,” he bows with mock formality.
“You’re the one that booked the whole place, right?” you ask, bringing up your computer application to check him in. He leans in way too close and looks over your shoulder as you work.
“Yup! One of the managers did the form though. Did he do everything I asked? Up the rate and made sure you feed me?”
You snort, “Yes, Jungkook. They are paying me an astronomical amount and I have plenty of food. Although, I only went shopping for one normal person. You’ll probably go through it all it two days, so make me a list.”
He chuckled lowly and you shivered, feeling his breath on your ear.
“Well, I’m not eating every meal here. I’m going to go out sometimes, too. Maybe noona can show me some nice places?”
You struggle to hold back a smile. “I’ll see what I can do.”
A shrill beeping started in the kitchen and Jungkook jumped back, looking around curiously.
“Cookies,” you answered the silent question. You finish typing a couple of things in the program than jump up and rush towards the kitchen, amused to notice Jungkook hot on your heels.
You shove your hand in a glove and pull out the pan, your own stomach rumbling a little from the delicious smell of chocolate chip cookies. It probably also didn’t help that in your rush to prepare for your guest you might have forgotten your own meals.
You scoop them onto the wire rack, so focused in the work that you forgot about the other person beside you until his thieving hands begin reaching towards one of the scalding hot cookies. You smack it with the spatula.
“Let it cool,” you order unapologetically, forgetting for a moment he was an actual guest. His sheepish grin assured you that there were no hard feelings. And that he would probably do it again.
“Are you hungry for actual food?”
He nods quickly, helping himself to one of the bar stools at your prep counter.
“Yeah. I ate this morning, but then I had to finish this interview before they’d let me go free. And that means an hour in hair and makeup for five minutes of questions,” he rolls his eyes and props his cheek onto his hand as he watches you.
“Ugh,” you grunt sympathetically. You look around for the menu you’d made for the week and hand it to him. “Look this over, will you? Let me know if there’s anything you don’t like.”
He silently reads your list as you prepare him a plate of cookies and a glass of milk. And maybe you sneak a couple for yourself as well.
Finally, he nods and tosses it over. “It’s good. Maybe add some Korean food if you know how to make any. I noticed there weren’t any restaurants.”
“Yeah, this place isn’t really known for its diverse cuisine. But if you want fifty seafood places, we have you covered.”
He snorts, “Kinda like home.”
You laugh, remembering how many little food carts littered Busan’s beaches.
You place his snack in front of him and he dives in happily, his eyes wide with happiness. You slide into the seat next to him and study him.
“So, Jeon Jungkook. What are your plans for the week? Are you going to stick around the house most of the time or should I maybe find some places for you to visit? I have lots of friends that I can get tickets from.”
He takes a huge gulp of milk and sighs contentedly before he answers. He shrugs, “Mostly around here. This is my time to actually relax. Definitely going to the beach and taking some photos. Other than that, I don’t know.”
“Hmm,” you hum, propping your chin in your hand. “The main attractions out here are all marine-based, so it’s up to you if you want to see any of it or if it’s all just old news to a Busan boy. But we do have the marine sanctuary nearby, there’s whale watching, and I think the butterfly exhibit is still going on. It really depends on how far you’re willing to travel. Monterey has even more things to do.”
He looks almost shy when he glances up at you. “Is it okay if we just stay here tonight?”
Your filthy disgusting mind conjures up all sorts of things hearing a sentence like that coming from Jeon Jungkook’s mouth, but you gulp and hope your voice sounds normal.
“Yup. Of course. It’s your vacation. Most guests don’t even interact this much with me. They just check-in and have meals sent to their room.”
“It’s okay. I like having noona around,” he grins, his eyes crinkling mischievously. Brat.
He looks around suddenly. “Hey, where’s Thor?”
“I usually keep him in my room until I figure out how pet-friendly the guest actually is.”
“You can let him run around, I’m fine,” he grins with excitement and follows behind when you get up and head towards the stairs.
Once you reach the top you can already hear Thor sniffing on the other side. You fling open your bedroom door and let him practically fly towards Jungkook. The man tries to sneak a peek inside before you slam the door shut, not ready to let the international celebrity see your mess.
Instead, you nod towards the room across the hall and gesture with your arm.
“This one is yours.”
He grins softly and walks around peeking at everything, patting the covers of the bed until Thor jumps up. He sits next to him and nods.
“It’s so nice. You did a good job.”
“Thanks,” you grin lopsidedly as you take a quick look around. “I think I did okay too. I’m no interior designer, but I was hoping for homey.”
“It’s relaxing,” he agrees with a nod. “I couldn’t even do this with my own place. I just threw some blankets on the floor and set up my PC. I don’t even think I have proper dishes. I had to eat cereal out of the plastic bag inside,” he giggles.
You shake your head, unsurprised really.
“This TV is pretty big too,” he grunts as he climbs towards the headboard of the bed, then crosses his ankles with a sigh, setting against the plush pillow behind him and playing with the remote. “Do you get all the channels?”
“Yeah,” you nod, standing there awkwardly now as he gets comfortable. You should probably go make dinner now or something, right?
“Oh nice,” he suddenly exclaims exactly, tossing the remote away. “Deadpool is on. Come watch, noona,” he says, patting the spot next to him on the bed.
His eyes are huge and there’s not a single hint on his face that this is a joke. He looks innocent and earnest. Just where was this “shy” Jungkook you’d always heard about?
You shuffle towards the bed and slowly lower yourself onto it, trying your best to avoid actual contact with him. He didn’t seem to approve because he actually scooted closer until his rock hard thigh was pressed right up against yours.
“Get comfortable, noona. I don’t have rabies,” he chuckled, tugging you down a little more until you were sharing a pillow.
Fuck. How was it possible for a man to smell so good, you moaned in your head. Thor - the traitorous bastard - was cuddled in a circle right in between Jungkook’s legs. He looked well on his way to taking a nap.
You focus on the tv, not really watching the movie, and trying instead not to hyperventilate. He was so close and you didn’t know what to do with your hands. You felt like a nervous teenager.
It was probably midway through the movie when you first heard it. A tiny little wheeze. Then, the man next to you felt like he was slipping. You turn and grin when you notice that Jungkook is pretty much out for the count. His head has slipped right onto your shoulder and his mouth is wide open as he sleeps, his nose making a cute little rattle instead of outright snores.
You huff and look around, yawning as the feeling of laying in bed finally begins to catch up with you as well. You hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before, so it was understandable. But Jungkook probably didn’t get much sleep on a regular basis, so you’d hate to disturb him now. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to rest your eyes for a little bit. Just until it was time to make dinner.
You give in to the lazy feel of the room and shut your eyes, snuggling into the pillow a little more. You barely noticed when a strong arm flipped you over gently and pulled you closer.

The call comes in as Midoriya is trying to hop into his pants and brush his teeth at the same time.
The noise he makes when he answers couldn't technically be called a word, but it gets the point across that he's ready to listen to the caller.
"Sorry, did I wake you?" Mineta asks after a moment of silence. Midoriya swears he hears a sad sniffle. Is Mineta crying?
"N-" Midoriya chokes on toothpaste so he quickly spits it out and rinses his mouth. "No, I'm getting ready to go to my early morning training. Are you okay?"
"Yeah... I just haven't been able to sleep."
"Like at all?"
"At all." Another sniffle followed a muffled cough interrupt Mineta's train of thought. "Sorry, I have a little bit of a fever, probably stress related. Also probably why I couldn't sleep. Sorry to bother you, I just got bored of scrolling through Tumblr and was kind of lonely since Tokoyami turned off his music and went to sleep."
"You're not bothering me. But uh... All Might is going to be overseeing my training this morning to make sure I don't like, break my arm again or something; do you want me to tell him you're sick so you can try to sleep through classes today?" Midoriya is now successfully in his pants and wondering if he should maybe check in on Mineta.
Midoriya is sure he doesn't know Mineta all that well, but something tells him Mineta is one of those people who likes to pretend he feels better than he does so he doesn't worry anyone.
And, ironically, that worries Midoriya more.
The silence from Mineta drags on for a just a moment too long and Midoriya opens his mouth to ask if he's still even on the phone, but Mineta finally speaks.
He sounds out of breath, but the small, "that would be great, thank you," is counted as a victory by Midoriya.
Mineta continues with, "sorry for not responding right away, I muted myself to cough."
"You're fine. Do you need anything?" Midoriya is out of the bathroom and walking towards his own room to return his towel to its rightful place.
"No; thank you though."
"Right, well... if you need anything feel free to call me again!"
"Thanks, Midoriya, bye."
Midoriya hangs up, and the second the line goes dead, painful sounding coughing erupts from Mineta's room.
No way in hell is Midoriya letting Mineta be alone when he's sick. Not if he can help it, at least.
He shoots a quick text to All Might, letting him know he won't be at training or in classes today so he can look after Mineta, waits for confirmation, and then goes to gather a glass of water and some fever reducers.
He runs into Iida while he's in the kitchen.
"What are you doing up so early, Iida?" Midoriya asks, filling a glass.
"Getting ready for an early morning run. I see you're getting ready for your early morning training." Iida responds as he stretches.
"Actually, I've had to cancel that. And I was wondering if you could take notes for me today? I won't be in class either." Midoriya finds the fever reducers right where they're supposed to be and grabs the right amount for Mineta.
"Are you ill?"
"Huh? Oh- no. Mineta is. I'm staying to look after him, though."
"You are a very kind and devoted friend, Midoriya. Don't worry, I'll take notes and gather the work for you two."
"Thank you, Iida!"
And with that, Midoriya is off, back to Mineta's dorm.
---
Mineta is sitting in his bed, knees drawn up to his chest, arms around his legs, blanket draped over his hunched back as he scrolls listlessly through his favorite subreddit, enjoying the wholesomness of this tiny corner of the internet. He brings a wadded up tissue to his mouth to cover the chesty cough that racks his frame for far too long, then forces his breathing to regulate again before he goes back to his phone.
A knock at his door snaps him back to reality.
Whomstive the fuck is up at this ungodly hour? Besides himself, of course.
"Mineta? Are you still awake?" Midoriya's voice calls softly from the other side of the door.
Oh yeah, Midoriya wakes up stupid early. And Mineta had called him just a few minutes ago. 'What the fuck, Minoru, why are you forgetting what you did like, 10 minutes ago?'
Mineta slides out of bed and opens his door. "Hi." God he's so awkward.
Midoriya stands in the door with a cup of water and a couple pills in his hands. "I wanted to bring you medicine, and, ya' know, take care of you. Can I come in?"
This is how Mineta dies, he decides as he steps aside to allow Midoriya in.
God he's glad he has such a great poker face.
Midoriya places the medicine and water on the table and produces a thermometer from his pocket.
Oh shit, Midoriya means business, huh? 'What are you talking about, Minoru, Midoriya is always serious when it comes to his friends' well being!'  Does Mineta really count as one of Midoriya's friends? 'Apparently so.'
"You said you thought you had a fever, so I figured we should keep an eye on that." Midoriya explains, offering the thermometer to Mineta.
Mineta takes it and sits on his bed, motioning to his desk chair. "Feel free to sit," he offers to Midoriya before putting the thermometer under his tongue.
Midoriya thanks him and makes himself comfortable in the desk chair and Mineta makes himself comfortable in bed.
"Your workspace is really well organized." Midoriya comments.
Mineta glares at him and huffs out through his nose.
"Sorry I didn't mean to offend you!"
Mineta angrily looks away.
"Ah-! Please don't be mad at me!"
The thermometer beeps and Mineta takes it out. "Don't compliment me when I can't thank you. It makes me feel rude." He looks at the numbers on the thermometer and winces, then hands it to Midoriya.
"I'll keep that in mind. Sorry about that." He accepts the thermometer and is instantly beside himself when he sees the number. "38.5?"
Mineta can tell he's trying to whisper to himself, but it's still pretty loud. Midoriya isn't very good at being quiet, he never has been.
He feels like he blinks, but suddenly Midoriya is holding out a pill and the water for him to accept.
How did he move so fast? His quirk, probably.
"I brought fever reducing medicine; please take it."
How the hell is Midoriya so fucking cute?
Mineta accepts the medicine and takes it with a sip of water, trusting Midoriya to not poison him.
As Mineta still has the water to his mouth, Midoriya's hand strays to his forehead, where it lingers for a second before moving to his neck.
"You're burning up, Mineta." Midoriya frets.
Mineta nods as Midoriya sits by his feet. He brings them in. "I said I had a minor fever."
His breath catches and he presses his tissues to his mouth as a coughing fit overtakes him. Midoriya takes his water from him and pats his back.
"38.5 isn't as minor of a fever as you seem to think it is." Midoriya says once Mineta has his breath.
Mineta breathes in to huff angrily, but another coughing fit consumes him.
He's gagging by the end of it, but swallowing it all back, having decided throwing up in front of Midoriya is too embarrassing for his liking.
"Oh Jesus! Are you okay Mineta? Do you need to go to the restroom? Do you have a trashcan in the room-" Midoriya anxiously rambles until Mineta cuts him off.
"I'm fi-" he gags and swallows again, "I'm fine. I have a sensitive gag reflex." He doesn't actually, he could deep throat a corn dog- not that he's tested it; totally not.
"Are you sure you're not going to throw up?" frets Midoriya, placing his hand on Mineta's leg.
Mineta nods. He's worn out from coughing all night, but his fever is making it impossible for him to sleep- he's too uncomfortable.
Midoriya seems to catch on to his tiredness, because he comments, "should I get you some sleeping medicine?"
"I've already taken some." Mineta shakes his head.
Midoriya is silent for a moment, then he shifts and crawls into Mineta's bed next to the wall.
Mineta's face explodes into a blush as Midoriya explains, "cuddling with my mom usually helps me get to sleep when I'm not feeling well, and, while I'm not my mom or yours, maybe I can be as comforting?"
The reddening of Mineta's face being so apparent, Midoriya freaks out a little, "is your fever rising? Are you allergic to the medicine I gave you? Should I-" He cuts off when Mineta snuggles into him wordlessly.
It only takes a couple of minutes of Midoriya scrolling through tiktok on his phone and petting Mineta's hair until Mineta is unconscious.

you look like you could use a hug for fbi au?
Hug | Crosshairs
FBI!AU; Sarah is the last to leave and someone is concerned
Prompt: you look like you could use a hug
Word count: 870
CW: this is a criminal minds AU so mentions of FBI cases/serial criminals/violence/etc but this oneshot is mostly tame
***
“Okay, we’re circling here. Everyone go home and get some rest, we’ll come back to the profile tomorrow.”
At Hotch’s word, everyone started tidying up their respective files and looked ready to leave. Morgan and Reid were arguing lightheartedly about something factual the latter had said, Emily butting in with her own teasing remark. It baffled Sarah that they could be so nonchalant and joking around after staring at crime scene photos for hours on end. It was something she had been having trouble adjusting to; depersonalizing from it all.
“Reese, you alright?” Sarah had barely made it to her desk before her partner was on her, already catching onto her tells. Ava was a good profiler, of course she had to be to be in the BAU, but she was particularly good at reading Sarah.
From day one she had picked up on the little things, like how Sarah’s shoulders never seemed to relax and how she always preferred to keep her back to a wall. She knew when Sarah was upset too, though maybe everyone did and just didn’t want to pry. Ava wasn’t shy about it though, curious eyes observing Sarah with unspoken questions.
“Fine,” Sarah replied dismissively, “Tired. I don’t have the BAU case tunnel vision or stamina yet I guess.”
“You’ll get there,” Ava replied with a nod, though it was obvious she knew something else was up. She didn’t want to push her partner too far, not at 2 am in the middle of the bullpen anyway.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” Sarah asked in an attempt to change the subject, watching idly as Ava tugged her hair from its immaculate topknot. She was always so well kept, everything in its place with methodical precision. She reminded Sarah of her old mentor from when she was still in medical school, before the incident changed her life forever. Her mentor had been a no-nonsense woman with kind eyes and a work drive like no other. Ava was similar, down to the neat notes and quick thinking; she could have been a good surgeon in another life.
“Yeah,” Ava nodded, “Want a ride home?”
“I’m fine, I drove today,” she replied carefully, hoping Ava didn’t pick up on anxiety that prickled under her skin. She had driven to work that day but it made her late, she had spent far too long sitting in her driveway and tapping anxiously against the steering wheel. She wasn’t going to mention the way she had to redo her makeup in the downstairs bathroom before taking the elevator up, her mascara smudged from the tears she pretended to have never shed.
“Okay,” Ava nodded slowly, obviously not believing that she was fine. That was evident by the gentle hand that fell on Sarah’s wrist before flitting away almost as quickly. She was glad that her partner was so caring and worried about her but she also didn’t want her to have to worry.
Eventually agent Bekker did leave, her work bag hanging off one shoulder and chatting to JJ idly. Sarah was the last one in the bullpen, though she could see Hotch pacing the length of his office with a file in hand. He always urged them to go home and rest when they could yet he never seemed to take his own advice.
“Sarah? What are you still doing here?”
She looked up to see the friendly analyst coming into the room, a box of stuff in hand. Penelope set it down on Spencer’s desk as she beelined for the agent, a look of concern on her face. Her arms were open before she could even blink, offering the warm safety net without hesitation.
“You look like you could use a hug, kitten.”
Sarah couldn’t fight her blush at the pet name, even though JJ had warned her thoroughly that it was just how Garcia connected with people. It warmed her heart, truly, to see one of the team members so cheerful and loving every day. Penelope was warm and reassuring where their cases and the people they met lacked severely. She had helped Sarah so much already, even just through a gentle teasing in greeting or a squeeze of her hand during a rather difficult case.
So Sarah didn’t have to hesitate much when she immediately stepped forward into Penelope’s arms, melting into the touch a little. She had trouble accepting affection and touch from others, it was so alien to her, but Garcia made it easy. She only ever wanted to make people smile and Sarah knew she wouldn’t mention how stiff she was or how she looked ready to cry. All she did was give the brunette a firm squeeze, a silent promise that whatever was going on she wasn’t alone in.
The memories and fear eased a little at that, at least for the moment, and Sarah felt better when she got into her car 10 minutes later.

Okay so we know Zhuk is a big ol' softy but what about when he's NOT being soft? Or. What would incubus Zhuk be like...? Would he be rougher? Could he be? Feels like he could probably throw you through a solid oak table if you were into that.
Once again, Zhuk is our Russian Mafia Beetlejuice AU, along with the rest of the conglomerate (Gio, Cia, Bajo, and Bee). See @monsterlovinghours for more details.
WARNING: NSFW. Hypnosis, spanking, D/s, forced orgasms, punishment, lots of fun times in here.
@realmonsterboyhours this be for you bb
“Enter, kotenok.”
Slowly, you pushed the door to Zhuk’s office open, the warm smell of burning cigars and chamomile tea swirling through the air along with the soft wisps of smoke wafting from the fireplace. You kept your chin held high despite the sudden urge to fall to your knees just from being within ten feet of him. He’d summoned you for a reason, but frankly, you just weren’t having it today. The heavy silver beetle dangling off the center of your collar may have marked you as his, but that didn’t mean you had to obey without putting up a fight.
Bullshit. Of course it did. But you could pretend otherwise for the time being.
He didn’t look away from his newspaper for even a moment as you approached him, your hands placed defiantly on your hips when you reached his desk. He scanned the page for another few moments before lifting one hand into the air, snapping his fingers and pointing down at his feet. You held your ground, and the air thickened as you saw his eyes darken. He snapped again, and pointed more intently to the floor. Once again, you didn’t move an inch, and you could practically see the cold, quiet anger spread through Zhuk’s body. Silently, he folded the newspaper up and placed it on his desk, and when his eyes finally flitted up to meet yours, they were burning with a subdued rage that could only precipitate an oncoming storm.
“Do you need to hear me say it out loud, der'mo dlya mozgov?” he asked, the even timbre of his voice only serving to scare you more. “Kneel.”
Against your initial desires, you felt yourself slowly sinking to your knees at his feet, biting the inside of your cheek to keep from lashing out with some smart remark that you knew would land you in hot water. You kept your head slightly bowed, but you could see the tension slowly dissipate from Zhuk’s body. You let out a breath, secretly relieved that you would likely not be on the receiving end of his ire but simultaneously disappointed that you didn’t get your way.
“That’s better. Khoroshiy kotenok,” he cooed, reaching out to pet at your head for a moment. “I called you here to keep me company while I work, malen'kiy pitomets. You will remain on your knees, and you will not speak unless spoken to. Is that understood?”
Suddenly, your mouth was moving, against all better judgement and higher thinking skills.
“Are you kidding me?” you asked incredulously, raising your head to meet his gaze. “My knees are gonna hurt like hell by the time you’re done! Why don’t you just let me go hang out with Gio, at least he’ll be entertaining.”
Silence. It hung heavy in the air, nearly suffocating you along with the weight of what you just said. You never truly felt like a fucking shit for brains until that very moment, and you were terrified to move a single inch as his eyes bored into you, burning the color of smoldering embers- combined with the curled horns poking out from his slicked back hair, he truly did look like a demon. You watched in horror as a deep crimson red slowly crawled its way through his hair, which now resembled a brilliant flame that betrayed the rage building inside of him. The tension in the air only escalated as you maintained eye contact, your wide fearstruck eyes not daring to look away from him as your heart pounded in your chest at the thought of the consequences that lay in store for you. Suddenly, the tension snapped like a too-taut string and his hand was fisted in your hair, yanking you forward until your faces were inches apart; his nostrils flared at the sound of your pained yelp, his forked tail swishing rapidly behind him and dragging across the hardwood floor.
“What did you just say to me?” he asked, a deep growl rumbling in his chest.
“I-I...I didn’t mean…”
“You didn’t mean what, malyshka?” he snarled, gripping your hair even tighter and relishing in your little cry. “Because it sounded like someone has been a brat since she arrived in my office and needs to remember whose collar is around her neck. Does that sound right, der'mo dlya mozgov?”
You couldn’t look away, couldn’t move, could barely breathe at the sight of him looming over you, his hand gripping your hair with such strength that it was practically lifting you off the ground. You could feel tears pricking at the corner of your eyes at the pain, and yet it still sent heat coursing through you, your pussy shamefully throbbing between your legs.
“I...I’m sorry,” you yelped, trying to hold yourself up as much as possible to keep as much of your weight off your hair as you could. You looked up at him, pleading for mercy with your eyes and finding only cold indifference in Zhuk’s eyes that slowly morphed into a sick satisfaction as his eyes began to swirl...oh no.
“Believe me, moya malen'kaya shlyukha,” he crooned, whipping his tail around to wrap around your throat, forcing you to gaze into his eyes as they became swirling pools of crimson. “You will be.”
You struggled as much as you could in his grip, but each time you tried to pull back, his holds on you only tightened, your throat constricted by his thin tail and your hair practically being torn out by his claws. You felt yourself slowly sinking- no matter how much as you were crying out and fighting it on the inside, your heartbeat began to slow to a steady pace and your eyelids drooped as you fell deep into his trance, watching his eyes continue to swirl.
“That’s it, little one, just let yourself go for me,” he drawled, a smirk playing on his face when he finally released your hair in order to aid you in your hypnosis. “Mm, what an easy little slut to hypnotize. Tell me, dorogoy, do you want me? Do you want to cum for me?”
Your lips felt heavy as you struggled to form the words to answer him, and yet the only things you could muster were dreamy little sounds, your mind feeling like it was stuffed to the brim with cotton. He chuckled darkly at your feeble attempts at communication, his clawed hand coming to stroke condescendingly down your cheek as your eyes finally slid completely shut.
“Listen to me very carefully, little one,” he said slowly, his voice laden with authority. “Each time my tail strikes your ass, you are going to feel pleasure unlike any you have known before. You will cum for me after each one until I release you from this command by laying a kiss on your forehead. I’m going to count to three, and you will come up from your trance, with no memory of what I’ve commanded of you. Deep breath for me now, malyshka. 1...2...3.”
With each number, you felt yourself rise from the depths of your trance, your mind getting progressively clearer as he slowly counted up from one. When your eyes slid back open, you had no memory of your trance, evident by the confused look that crossed your face. Zhuk grinned victoriously before releasing his grip on your throat, allowing you to breathe freely. He stood from his chair and cracked his knuckles, looking down at you with anticipation shining in his eyes.
“Up, little one,” he commanded with a smirk. “And over my desk.”
You rushed to your feet, not wishing to anger him any more than you already had, and quickly bent over his desk. You shivered in anticipation as he slid your skirt and panties down your legs, his clawed fingers dragging up your thighs and over the swell of your ass.
“You will count them for me, schlyukha,” he commanded. You nodded frantically, readying yourself for the pain and pleasure that was about to come.
Little did you know that it would be more pleasure than you could ever imagine.
With no further delay, Zhuk whipped his tail through the air to smack loudly against your ass. You were prepared for the stinging pain, but what surprised you was the insistent rush of white hot ecstasy that flooded every inch of you, dragging a desperate cry from your throat as what had to have been an orgasm shook you to your very core. You looked back at Zhuk and were horrified to be met with a wide, hungry grin. He knew exactly what he was doing, and the gravity of your situation finally hit you. With a deep sigh, you dug your fingers into the edge of the desk and resigned yourself to your fate.
“...One.”
His grin only grew, his heart swelling with pride at the sight of you fully giving in to your submission.
“Good girl, pitatel’. Let’s continue, shall we?”
With every strike, Zhuk pulled orgasm after orgasm from your trembling body. Your knees threatened to give out each time, the sharp pain mixed with overwhelming, world-shattering pleasure that wrenched pitiful screams from your throat. Your nails scratched insistently at his mahogany desk, but you couldn’t find it in you to care when he was mercilessly torturing you with orgasm after orgasm until your tongue practically lolled out of your mouth. You felt even more entranced than when Zhuk had actually put you under, your mind melting from the heat of the constant orgasms he was pulling from you.
“T-twenty!” you cried, tears steadily pouring down your cheeks as your knees wobbled from the twentieth orgasm pulsing through your body. You weren’t sure how much more you could take, but frankly, you weren’t sure Zhuk cared. He was likely taking the opportunity to gorge himself on your lust, feeding off of every ounce of pleasure, every moan, every scream he could force from your fragile little body.
“Mmm, you sound beautiful when you scream, kotenok,” he moaned, running his fingers through his hair. “Can you take one more for me? Give me your pleasure, little one, let me take it from you.”
You knew if you told him no, he’d likely oblige you. He’d stand you up, pull you into his arms, into his bed, and hold you until your body finally stopped shaking. But against what was likely your better judgement, you wanted to give it to him. You wanted to give him everything. You took a deep breath to steady yourself before nodding, scrunching your eyes shut in preparation for your final orgasm.
“Hmm...alright then, pitatel’.” Your eyes flew open at the sound of pure mischief in his voice. You had no time to react before his tail was whistling through the air once more.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five.
All in a row, his tail mercilessly whipped you. With each hit, your pleasure doubled up on one another, your voice growing hoarser and hoarser until your scream was nothing but a pitiful croak, your pussy spasming as five simultaneous orgasms forced you to squirt all over the hardwood floor. Your knees finally gave out and you fell like a sack of potatoes to the floor, kneeling in a pool of your own slick as you sobbed, hot tears dripping down your cheeks. In an instant, Zhuk was there, pulling you into his arms and pressing his lips softly to your forehead.
“Oh, moya dorogaya, moya ideal'naya devushka, moya dragotsennaya pitatel’, you were so good for me,” he cooed, holding your trembling body close as you cried. “I’m here, little one, you took your punishment so well, Christ, you were perfect…”
As physically and mentally exhausted as you were, you couldn’t help but smile through your tears.
“You...you said one,” you hiccuped, a giggle briefly interrupting your tears. He chuckled, pulling you closer and pressing kiss after kiss to your sweat-soaked hair.
“I could not help myself, little one,” he admitted. “You were so, so good for me.”
Despite how physically and mentally exhausted you were, you couldn’t help but smile. You’d take another 25 orgasms if it meant getting to end up in the safety of his arms and his dominance. You settled into his lap and succumbed to the warmth of his embrace and the heaviness of your exhaustion, your eyes sliding shut as sleep finally took you.
Translation:
moya malen'kaya shlyukha: my little slut
Khoroshiy kotenok: Good kitten
der'mo dlya mozgov: shit for brains
malen'kiy pitomets: little pet
Pitatel’: feeder
moya dorogaya, moya ideal'naya devushka, moya dragotsennaya pitatel’: my darling, my perfect girl, my precious little feeder
(These are probably not even close to be correct, but all I have is Google Translate yaaaaaaay)

Six minutes
Summary: How Jacob and Rakepick tricked the world into believing that Rowan Khanna is dead.
It was supposed to be a continuation of previously posted „Six minutes”, but I decided that I could simply merge it as well.
Words: 2290
Tumblr media
Autumn, 1989
The three of them were standing around a small table, looking at the necklace lying there. It was a beautiful grand piece of jewellery, shining in the warm light.
“That’s it? Is it done?” asked Jacob finally. They looked at each other.
“We should test it,” said Rakepick.
“Brilliant.” Ever since he arrived, Snape seemed to just wait for a moment when he can leave. It was actually a usual impression Jacob was getting whenever they met after his expulsion – or before that – but this time, he was particularly silent, too.
Not thinking much about what he’s doing, Jacob reached for the necklace, but Rakepick had grabbed his wrist before he touched it. “No,” she said calmly but firmly. “It should be me.”
“You’ll be casting the spell. You should be casting the spell now.” He wouldn’t tell it by looking at her, but he liked to think that she’s worried. “It’s okay, Patricia. It will work. And one curse more or less doesn’t change much for me. So, it should be me. Unless…?” He glanced at Potions Master, who slightly raised his eyebrow.
“Oh no, go ahead.”
He wasn’t expecting any different answer. Not waiting for further confirmation, Jacob took the necklace. The only thing he noticed, though, was its cold weight. He tossed it slightly, yet nothing unexpected happened.
“Did it work? I don’t feel anything.”
“You’re not supposed to feel anything.” Snape watched him closely, suddenly looking almost alert.
Jacob put the necklace back at the table. He placed his hand on his neck to check the pulse. Nothing. At the same moment, he realised he’s not breathing. He panicked, which made him feel way worse because his heart didn’t start beating faster as it normally would. His thoughts immediately went to Duncan.
“Jacob?” There was a sign of unease in Rakepick’s voice.
“Yeah?” He looked at his companions more consciously. “How much time do I have?”
“About six minutes, probably less by now,” replied Snape. “You should move to the centre of the room. It’d be harder to break the curse and save your cracked skull at the same time.”
“Right…”
Jacob did as he was told, making sure there’s plenty of space around so he wouldn’t hit anything while falling. Snape stayed in the same spot, but Patricia shifted as well, taking her position.
“Are you ready?” she asked, with her wand already in her hand.
“Hell no. Let’s do it.”
“Good.” It seemed that she’s about to start when she hesitated. “Jacob?” She sounded off. He could only imagine what bothers her the most in that situation: his decisions, working with Severus again, taking the risk that she didn’t have to take. “In case it goes wrong… You’re my best apprentice.”
“Apprentice? I thought I’d be promoted to a partner by now,” he said with fake resentment, ignoring Snape’s contemptuous expression - and the fear that everything could indeed go terribly wrong.
She smiled weakly and took a deep breath. He tried to focus on the golden tip of her wand when the green light beamed out of it, speeding in his direction.
What is dead cannot die.
There was a moment of dark emptiness. It could’ve lasted forever or just a split second. Then, Jacob revived inhaling the air sharply, which almost choked him. The light seemed to be brighter and the sounds louder, including his racing heart. He desperately held onto the closest thing he could grasp which happened to be Rakepick’s arm.
“It’s all right, I’m here. Just try to breathe.” She could appear surprisingly calming if she wanted to.
“Here, drink this.” Snape handed him a small vial from the other side. “It’d be a shame if you had a heart attack now.”
It took him a while to force his body to move intentionally, but as soon as he downed the potion, things started getting back to normal. “So, did it work?”
When they finally made sure that Jacob is stable, they moved him to the living room, Snape left, and Rakepick disappeared for some time in the study.
“How you’re feeling?” she asked when she came back with an armful of books and scrolls.
“Well, I still have a headache. And there might be something with my heart, it’s like I have two heartbeats…”
“What? And you said nothing?” She tossed her supplies on the table. “What do you even mean: two heartbeats--”
He smiled seeing her concern. “I’m kidding. I’m fine, Patricia, you can stop asking.”
She looked at him sternly. “It’s not a joke.”
“Don’t yell at me, I just died.” He knew that he should be serious, that it’s too important. Yet, a part of him wanted to cut off from what had happened: earlier that day, over last years. Simply pretend that it could be normal. “I’m sorry...”
Her face softened ever so slightly. “And how’s your cursed mark?”
To his surprise, it was one thing he didn’t think about. “You tell me,” he replied, pulling down a neckline of his shirt.
She came closer to survey the revealed part of his chest and carefully slide her fingers on a dark mark leading to the neck. “Does it hurt?”
“Right now? No.”
“It doesn’t seem to be changed…” she noted pensively. “We should keep an eye on it anyway.”
“More than usual, you mean?”
“Just tell me if something is wrong,” she ignored his remark and sat to her books. “I don’t care about your pride.”
He sighed and leant back on the couch, putting his hands behind his head when he felt a little paw grabbing his trousers. Sickleworth climbed nimbly up and sat on his lap. The Niffler made a quiet pleased sound as the wizard started petting him.
“Patricia?” Jacob spoke a bit absent. “If we managed to cheat death--”
“I wouldn’t really call it that way,” she interrupted him.
“Well, yeah, but… Do you think…” He straightened up, letting Sickleworth run up his arm. “Do you think that maybe Duncan--”
Rakepick raised her eyes and pushed her work aside. “He’s dead, Jacob.”
“But--”
“I’ve met him. It was one of the first things I’ve checked back at Hogwarts.”
Jacob felt as something grew in his throat. “He’s a ghost?” She didn’t need to answer. He covered his face for a moment, processing the news. “Does he blame me?” he muttered.
“He does,” she confirmed more gently. “But not for his death.”
He swallowed hard and sank again. He didn’t feel like crying - he didn’t cry in ages - but he suddenly became very tired.
Winter, 1989
They both were sitting in front of Rowan who was visibly nervous. Rakepick apparently decided that it’d be better for everyone to let Jacob lead that conversation. And he was doing his best to stay calm.
“As soon as you touch the necklace, your heart will stop beating. You’ll stop breathing,” he continued his explanation. “It will be scary, possibly the scariest thing you’ve experienced so far. But that’s all right to be afraid. I was afraid too.”
Rowan appeared more worried and paler with each of his words. However, the last part caught her attention. “You’ve done it…?”
“Yeah, I have. And I’m still here,” he smiled comfortingly. “We’ll have six minutes to break the curse.”
“That’s not a lot of time,” the girl noticed.
“That’s enough,” he replied firmly.
But Rowan was still full of doubts. “And what if I won’t make it in time?” Her voice got more quiet and shaky. She glanced insecurely at the redhead witch. “Then Ben… then he’ll die, won’t he?”
Jacob leant slightly forward so she’d focus on him. “Listen to me, Rowan. You don’t have to worry about that. We won’t let that happen.” She didn’t look convinced. “I’ll figure something out by then, and I promise you that I’ll be there to help you if anything goes wrong.”
“No, you won’t,” Rakepick spoke for the first time in a while.
“You have my word, Rowan.”
It was hard to say how reassuring it actually was because now Rowan seemed to be startled by her former professor’s reaction. Even Jacob was surprised to see that Patricia was clearly trying to not snap right then and there. She rose from the table to leave the room.
“We’ll talk later, okay?” said Jacob hastily before he followed Rakepick upstairs.
“I don’t need you there,” the woman spat as soon as he closed the door to the study.
“You don’t know that. It’ll be safer--”
She was resting against the desk with her arms crossed, and she glanced up to the ceiling. “No. I don’t want you there.”
“Why? Patricia, stop playing a hero and just accept that you might need help--”
“I’m playing a hero?!” She paused and bit her lips, irritated. “Jacob, when will you learn to not make promises you can’t keep?”
He stepped closer, trying to keep his cool. “She’s a scared kid. If there’s anything I can do to help her, I’m gonna do this, whether you like it or not.”
“She’s not a kid!” she yelled, frowning. “She’s the same age you were when we met!”
“That’s different!” he replied louder and more strongly than he intended.
They continued their stare-down for a moment before Rakepick approached him, shortening the distance between them even more.
“Do you realise that we might not be alone in the Forest?” Her voice was steady again. “That you can’t be seen there? I’m already taking the risk of being compromised--"
“Since when you’re worried about the risks?” he taunted her. “Besides, that’s why I should come. I can focus entirely on concealing our presence.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “Look… I know you don’t want it to fail. Neither do I. I know that if we both fail, we have nothing. But we also have better chances together. You have to trust people sometimes, right?”
She left again without a word.
Winter, early 1990
Jacob started getting impatient when he finally heard the group drawing nearer. His cat Patronus was circling around his legs, more to keep him company as there was no sign of Dementors yet. He wasn’t expecting to get so excited about the sound of his sister’s voice and actually seeing her. They weren’t so close in years. He wanted to call her name and cancel the whole plan, take her back home and hope for the best. But nothing ever could be that easy for them.
His body stiffened when he noticed that they found the necklace. He was about to react when he felt unnatural cold, still distant but discernible. They felt it too. He watched dark figures surrounding the teens, knowing that he can’t do anything. He was relieved when Helena’s silver hare charged at the Dementors, but it didn’t last long.
“She’ll arrive soon,” he told himself, clenching fingers on his wand.
Not long after that, the lioness indeed entered the scene and saved the day. From that point, everything was happening instantly: shouting, duelling, threats. At last, Rowan appeared as well, seemingly out of nowhere. If Jacob didn’t know about the cue, he’d be taken by surprise too, in overall chaos. And then, the screaming… He shut his eyes and turned around to lean against the tree he was hiding behind.
“We warned you that you owed ‘R’ a friend’s life. Consider that debt collected.”
When he looked again, he saw Patricia standing already in front of him with an emotionless expression. He also realised that his feline guardian disappeared in the meantime. None of them spoke, even though they didn’t need to worry about being heard.
“No…”
“Rowan’s not breathing.”
“No, please… It can’t be happening…”
“She’s gone.”
“Please, Rowan, don’t leave me like that…”
“Do you feel that? Are the Dementors coming back?”
“We have to go.”
“We can’t leave her…”
“Helen, Rakepick can still be here.”
“No, no…”
“Helena…”
“GET OFF!” Helena’s shriek echoed through the Forest, followed by sobbing.
Jacob gritted his teeth. He instinctively made a move as if he wanted to go to her, but Patricia held his arm to stop him.
“I told you that you shouldn’t have come,” she reminded him, and strangely enough, it was more sympathetic than scolding.
The voices in another part of the Cove became duller, it was hard to understand words. After a while, the three teenagers took off, shocked and scared, struggling to stay alert. When they were far enough, Jacob expanded his protective charm on the rest of the area. His companion immediately ran towards the girl’s body, but he sent his Patronus into the Forest first in hope that it’d clear the way to the castle. Patricia briefly raised her head after hearing his incantation, but she didn’t comment, preoccupied with tending to Rowan. In the next moment, Jacob was on his knees next to them. He took off the girl’s glasses so they wouldn’t hurt her eyes in case they shattered more. He started worrying when she wasn’t waking up, but Rakepick remained calm and focused, so he trusted they’re doing well. Finally, their victim revived.
“It’s all right, Rowan. You’re safe. Easy now,” Patricia said softly.
Jacob hurried to support Rowan’s back before she collapsed again. “It hurts, I know.” With the free hand, he went for the prepared potion in his bag. “Drink this, it will help.”
He exchanged looks with Rakepick. It seemed like there were no intruders nearby, it seemed like they made it. But they both knew that there’s still a long way ahead of them before they’d be successful. One of the very next steps involved transporting a shaken, weakened seventeen-years-old back to their shelter. They also needed a fake body.
