#but in loops

Idea! This is completely unrelated to the time travel ideas I have floating around. This is a time loop one based on ObKk but it's all from Obito’s viewpoint. 

It's a time loop that circles ten times in which Obito is looping through periods he lived in his past, but his actions will change the course of the timeline and he has to live it till the very end with rules he will find throughout his loops. 

He can’t pick what time he lands, only that he must deal with the hand he is dealt

He can’t kill himself nor harm himself to the point of death (not even to remove the seal over his heart)

Telling someone will end up with one of two things: that person will die soon or something tragic will happen

The loops themselves don’t center around Kakashi for it being a obkk fic idea, but how Obito sees the world as he goes through chances and other paths he could have taken and what kind of person he is. It’s a “what would you do” kind of situation.

I want him to go through the loops, go through them, and try to make the world he desperately dreams of with his own methods and struggles. In some loops, he will try to finish the eye of the moon plan and in others, he doesn’t. Sometimes Rin lives and sometimes she doesn’t. Things happen, life happens, and no matter how many loops and chances and different choices Obito will make he has to face the consequences of those actions, and have to live through that loop no matter what. 

Whether or not he truly loves that loop or hates it, he will live through it all. 

I guess what I want is for him to feel the push and pull of what his dream world would look like, what it can be but what the price it will be to pay for such a world. 

Now for loops.

First Loop - Og timeline

This is during the fourth war, where the events of the anime/manga happen until you are faced with the battle of Obito and Kakashi. However, when both Obito and Kakashi clash for the ‘hand through the chest’ kill they both hit their targets. So that means that yes Obito’s heart is punched through but so is Kakashi’s, hence, Kakashi will die here. 

Kakashi is dead with blood on his hands, just like Obito has his blood on his own hand. 

He’s dead. 

Then he uses Kamui to leave back into the battlefield. 

Second Loop - Switch Roles

This is when Obito wakes up from being crushed by the cave in. He has yet to give the eye to Kakashi and he can still see Rin and Kakashi alive. Maybe it was because he dreamt of this moment before, maybe because he still saw the blood on Kakashi’s hands, or perhaps he understood what was happening to him. Either way, whether he gives Kakashi his eye or not, he will emphasize that Kakshi must protect Rin with his life. 

Just like how Obito did the same thing for him. 

Of course, Kakashi agrees. 

And this sets in stone for Kakashi to die in Rin’s place because he took those very words to heart. 

Unfortunately, the Sanbi is still inside of Rin with a faulty seal. 

And that is how the Three-Tail attack of Konaha began. 

Third Loop - Birth of a Boy

This one took a turn because after living two full lives (by a shinobi’s standards) he was looped again. Something that he didn’t expect at all after the second loop. 

Nor did he expect to be born as a child only a couple months old. 

This was a life he could truly start over, one that was blanked and sealed with no one to be suspicious of his actions nor about his personality or he’s ability. He was born anew in this loop and Obito will take this chance with willing arms. 

So he grew up again, in a village that did not give love, with best friends he could hold on to, and with a clan that approved of him. 

He was living in a new world, a world, he realized, was truly new to him. One that he can shape to what he desires the most. But in turn, he did not realize he was drifting too far, too fast. He was not only advancing faster than any other student but he was also challenging Kakashi far to much with his quick advancement, to focus to his future that he didn’t realizes he was leaving Rin behind. 

Didn’t realize anything was wrong when they were in the academy, didn’t know what was wrong when they were made a team once again, and didn’t know what was wrong even with Minato trying to glue back the team together when Kakashi and Rin were the only ones holding themselves up from Obito’s far of gaze. 

And that cost him. 

It cost him Kakashi’s life in that cave. It cost him Rin to drift away completely, and thus, Rin’s life when Sanbi was forced into her body. 

He lost them both in a life he was so readily and willing to make his own and yet it was taken from him once again.

(That's how he found out about the second rule.)

(That is how he finally understood Rin in her sacrifice and Kakashi in his Anbu years.)

But then it gets worse, so worse. Obito did not have enough time in this whirlwind of his new life to realize he is not the only evil in this world, and that war will always bring out the worst in people whether you expect it or not. 

That is how he found out Orochimaru was experimenting with the dead body of the Last Hatake. 

Fourth Loop - Twin Eyes

This time he is watching Rin die again in front of his eyes. Watching as her body falls back from Kakashi’s hand. Watch as blood seeps through the ground once more. 

The nightmare begins again. 

Some part of Obito wanted to leave. Didn’t want to do this part of his life anymore, didn’t want to see his teammates die over and over and just fulfill the plan that was already set for him in the first place. After all, he never did finish his original goal in the first place. 

But instead of leaving Kakashi this time around, he takes him with him. 

(He has seen them die too many times, can’t stand the sight of red on silver or purple anymore.)

Kakashi will follow Obito, care for him, and speak for him. Yet Kakashi is only loyal to Obito, he still loves Konoha and will not do anything against them unless Obito asks, he does not trust Zetsu in any way shape or form, and is weary of the rest of the Akatsuki at best. He will follow Obito but will not go anything beyond that. 

Maybe that's why Zetsu gorged out his eye and left Kakashi for dead, knowing that he was an obstacle to their plan. A plan, Obito will soon find out, was just a sweet masqueraded lie. 

Fifth Loop - Nine Tails

Obito woke up with the cries of a baby in his arms, warped in chains. 

He was back in the Nine-Tails attack, back when he helped kill two of his most important people. 

(Just like Rin. Just like Kakashi)

Will he kill them again? Will he go through with it? He’s an enemy, he is already an enemy of Konoha no matter what he does now. No matter what happens here, he can’t do anything to change the actions that he has taken. 

But, Obito thinks as he remembers the seal in his chest, perhaps here is another way. 

Another way was soon put into motion. The “other way” was having his face revealed to Kakashi, having to stop the stupid Hatake from protecting him from Minato, having to make sure his chest will be pierced even if the stupid fault safety of unable to die by his intention or hands is keeping him from truly getting hit. 

And yet, when Minato’s attack finally landed to aim at his chest he did not anticipate the next scene. 

In other words, he did not anticipate seeing another one of his precious people killed by another person he trusted through the heart once again. 

(He wasn’t fast enough to pull Kakashi back, wasn’t fast enough to set Naruto away from the fight.)

(“Your late!”)

That night ended with a baby and a boy laying still on the cold floor.

[Anyways I'll post loops six to ten later.] 

Extra thoughts:

Wanted to make Orochimaru experiment on Rin as well on loop 3 but thought that was illogical in the sense that one, Rin had died to the seal and the escape of Sanbi so she would not be strong enough to gather interest, and two, she doesn’t have the Sanbi. 

Don’t know if I want Rin to live on the second loop, I mean she both can and can’t based on how Minato is her sensei but also she has a faulty seal can will unravel when she is close enough to Konoha. Its up in the air, thats why i didn’t make her fate known in that loop. 

If you haven’t realized, Rin is a constant in the first few loops here, I need her to be brought up again and again in front of Obito, but to also lose her in more ways then just Kakashi killing, because people can lose those we care and love for in different ways then death. 

Also, the second loop originally was going to be in the running scene of the cave in, I wanted Obito to see Kakashi trip again and just, leave him there, pretending he never turned around to look at him in the first place, wanted him to think in his twisted time traveled mind that if Kakashi dies here then he wouldn’t have to worry about him again. After all, he was the one to kill him in the first timeline, what was one more? He killed him just a few minutes ago, killing him again shouldn’t damage him that much.

Should it?

Well, it did. 

It did because all he saw was red, the sound of bones crunching and the ripping of flesh being torn into bloody bits as the only thing left of Kakashi is red blood under boulders the size of houses. 

It should have been an uneventful time loop with Rin by his side. 

But in this life, Rin is the one to take Kakashi’s role, she is the one who mourns a ghost. 

But then I thought that Kakashi dying by Obito’s wish might be more impactful since Rin will live to know it was her that Kakashi died for.  

The fourth loop is where the eye of the moon plan actually is completed, go figure

Fifth loop! I always planned on Naruto dying, just not Kakashi until I wrote the thing.

No wait, random worldbuilding idea:

A people who have an age-old tradition, that when warriors left home to go to war, their family that remains home prepare funeral goods for them while they wait, sewing them the clothes and preparing the tools and all that they will be buried with - to emotionally prepare them to the hard possibility that the one who left will not return home alive. If the warrior returns, their burial goods are all burned in a bonfire that is lit for the celebration of their return.

And to this modern day, mothers of the culture will tell their children "fine, but let me take your measures for burial clothes before you go" as a way of telling them that something they're about to do is lethally stupid. Sharing stories about just how dramatic their mothers are, someone tells their group of friends that his mother once actually took out a measuring tape to start taking his measures when he said he's leaving home for a work trip.

And another one goes "pfft, yeah. This one time I went to a rock concert and came back home to mom sitting on her sewing machine, fucking making me a funeral coat."

The bad news is that the reason you've broken the time loop is because whatever force was responsible for maintaining it looked at the shit you did on that particular iteration and thought to itself: "you know what would be really fucked up?"
