oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my... that is a COMPLICATED question. cuz... like, since i don't know what you personally look to invest in, or how strongly you feel things, or what you consider "sad" vs what i do, it's a bit hard to answer in way that i think can be useful??? but i'll try!!!

for me, i have zero regrets about the fact that i've watched the full show over twenty times now. does it cause me a lot of emotional anguish every time still? yeah. it's pretty much "emotional anguish" the show. but i am also someone who describes themself as "empathy poisoned" so, like, i very easily feel too much~ to the point where i need to just NOPE out of stuff if it hurts me too much. (i'm looking at you Jujutsu Kaisen) and that might not be true for you. but i also think it's ABSOLUTELY a show worth sticking it out for. even if it's only for the animation and the music! but! even better! every single character will take you on heart-wrenching emotional journey in their own way. just, some definitely get happier endings than others.

but as for Jayvik specifically - would i have liked there to be a world where their ending is more... just... UNAMBIGULOUSLY a cut-and-dry love story??? obviously! i'm a wretched little queer who wants to see their boys get EVERYTHING - but i also don't begrudge the show the very, very beautiful ending that they did get.

throughout the show they both fuck up so much, make the wrong choices so often, and get manipulated by people and forces so far outside of their control that it's little wonder there's so much AU and fix-it-fic written about them. you desperately want better for them. but you also see exactly WHY people ship them. their connection is UNDENIABLE in so many ways and across so many facets. and in the end, Jayce and Viktor choose EACHOTHER over LITTERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE. and it's so beautiful that i absolutely sobbed my eyes out.

do they ever say the words "i love you?" or kiss? no. and what becomes of them is intentionally left super ambiguous. so, in the end, you're really just left with the intense melancholy of knowing that all they want - forever - is just to be together. and that's so fucking beautiful that i just can't help but say it's worth it. 100% absolutely worth it.

ive always imagined mrs itoshi to be a really energetic woman. you know those middle aged women that are just so youthful, you can feel her energy and aura when she's in the room. and she would definitely love saes gf. because sae has a personality totally opposite to hers but after committing to a relationship he learns a lot from you and you encourage him to to strengthen his family bonds. she would LOVE spending time with you, talk to you about fashion and gossip. she'd call you her daughter in lawww omg shut up i love her

on a more realistic note, i do think mama itoshi would be the type of person who simply doesn't age. there is something irrevocably uplifting and youthful about her, and i think that has a lot to do with the adversity she's faced throughout her lifetime both as a woman and a mother. even though she's soft-spoken, she is firm and headstrong. definitely knows what she wants. she always tells sae that the strongest people are the ones who smile, no matter what life puts them through. (obviously, that lesson flew right over sae's head cus he looks perpetually depressed but whatever...)

i honestly don't think sae has a strong attachment with either parent, but he isn't averse to them either. it's the small things that you pick up about him. how he never lets anyone touch him but stays still when his mother to brush his bangs back. how he never buys those expensive lunch meals during practice because he prefers his mother's homemade bentos. how he doesn't like to show unnecessary emotion but cracks a small smile at his mama's kitchen antics.

idk if it's just me, but i also feel like his mother was the stricter of the two parents. both sae and rin were forced to become self-sufficient from a young age. walked themselves to practice. bought snacks with their own allowance. sae even took a train ride to tokyo by himself to find a representative agent. not saying their parents weren't supportive, but they definitely weren't a constant presence either.

i think what sae needs is time. time to process his youth and to reconcile with his family (both his parents and brother ofc). i feel like he went through a lot of parentification, and undoing that will require a lot of patience. this would probably happen in his late twenties to late thirties, once he's well-established or even retired from football. with so much time on his hands, he has nothing to do but reflect. emotionally mature sae will be very different from current sae.

mama itoshi does welcome you kindly. mostly because none of the itoshis ever fathomed sae getting involved with someone seriously. i just know she has good skincare, so you two probably have girls-only nights where you two do nothing except watch TV dramas and wear face masks. i don't think she's particularly physically affectionate, but she does show her love through cooking. always pinches your cheek fat and tells you that you aren't eating enough (typical asian parent thing to do lmao.) also cuts up random fruits and places it beside your desk lamp while you're working.

i feel like sae has a bit of a hard time coming to terms with the way you assimilate into his family. he already feels like a stranger in his own home, but when his mother treats you like her daughter-in-law, it really gets him thinking. can he be normal? is this what it's like to be normal? is it really okay to have this? long story short, he probably has to reason with himself for one thousand and one nights before he decides he's actually going to marry you.

"I like you," Anne blurts.

It comes out of nowhere- except not really, because it's been on Anne's mind for ages now, the way she can't even sit in Marcy's presence anymore without her chest fluttering, how she wants to hold her, to draw her in and never let her go. But Anne's always been pretty well versed in burying her feelings, so the words that slip out of her mouth right at the end of one of Marcy's rambles surprise her.

They clearly surprise Marcy as well. In fact, she gapes at her, cheeks flushing a pretty red, eyes wide and wondrous. Anne has gotten lost in those eyes before, and it takes every impulse not to do the same now with how deep they go, how starry they become at such a simple confession.

She's pretty, always has been. Anne adores her.

"I... what?" Marcy says, and she smiles all prettily, the expression clearly forced. "I mean, I like you too, Anna Banana, you're my best friend-"

"-no, Marbles, I really like you." Anne leans in, and she takes both of Marcy's hands in her own; if she's gonna confess feelings now, might as well confess them all the way. "Like, like like you. Like, butterflies in my stomach like you."

"Oh," Marcy whispers, understanding dawning in her eyes. "You... me?"

"Of course I like you, who wouldn't?" Anne grins, squeezing Marcy's hands. "I mean, you're smart, you're funny without trying to be, you get excited over the smallest of things and your eyes just light up when you do, you're sweet and kind and fun and you always give everything your full effort even if you don't like it, and you try so hard all the time and that's enough for me, you know? I like you."

Anne pauses, takes a deep breath. The fluttery feeling in her chest is slowly melting away; it was probably just the anxiety. "You don't have to feel the same, don't worry, I just... I couldn't keep looking at you and keeping the feelings to myself, it's a little silly-"

"-don't say that!" Marcy says fervently, and when Anne looks up at her face, her eyes are watery but full of adoration bright as the sun, her bottom lip trembling. "This... you'll never know how much this means to me, okay?"

"What do you mean?" Anne questions.

"You mean so much to me," Marcy continues, and she's crying now, a silent cry that doesn't particularly seem sad, just... emotional. "This is exactly what I've always wanted, and it's so perfect and so you, I can't believe it's actually happening."

"It's just me, Marmar," Anne snorts, but Marcy's shaking her head desperately.

"I love you," Marcy says, and each word is just as emotionally charged as Anne's, her desperation fueling the way she clings to Anne's hands. "I always have. I love you because you're silly, and fun, and you always find a way to uplift the people around you, and you're inspiring and brave and I've wanted to be you my entire life, because you're Anne, you've always been my favorite person, and... gosh, I'm really rambling, aren't I?"

"You're cute when you ramble," Anne says, even as her heart pounds and pounds at the words, at how much Marcy adores her in return. "Sometimes I try so hard to listen to you but you're so pretty I just end up staring."

"I do the same thing," Marcy admits, and she giggles, tugging one hand free so she can wipe at her eyes. "So... if you like me and I like you too..."

"...guess that means we're girlfriends now, right?" Anne offers, and she takes another deep breath, steeling herself. "Hey Marmar, can I kiss you?"

"You'd be my first," Marcy says shyly, but she flutters her lashes up at Anne with a smile, and she nods. "Please kiss me."

So Anne gives into her impulses, just like she had before. She's never kissed anyone, but she's watched plenty of romance animes, and it's easy to lean in, press one hand against Marcy's cheek and the other on her chest, tilt her head, and kiss her.

It isn't what she's expecting. Marcy's warm, and she kisses back passionately, her own hands snaking into Anne's hair and wrapping around her neck. She tastes like the cherries they'd been snacking on beforehand, and Anne savors it as she clumsily kisses her, savors every moment.

The kiss ends when she feels a stinging pain, and she leans back a little with a grimace. "I think you bit my lip," she grumbles, but it's hard to keep a straight face here, and she's snorting as the absurdity of it all hits her.

"Sorry, sorry, I got... I got carried away," Marcy giggles, and she's laughing and laughing as Anne pouts at her. Laughing and laughing and she doesn't stop, so Anne leans in and kisses her again to shut her up, and Marcy gasps into it, and she doesn't bite her that time, and it's just as magical as Anne had hoped her first set of kisses would be.

Maybe this sharing her feelings shit isn't bad, she thinks, as she finally, finally, gets what she wants most in the world. At long last, she's happy.

Mammon thinks he's no good at comfort, but he tries anyway.

What he wants to do is distract you. It's instinct at this point. He causes trouble, he tries to drag you out to the casino or the club, he does anything to make you laugh - it's what he's always done, for centuries.

Emotional vulnerability isn’t something that comes naturally to Mammon. He’ll make the effort for you.

Mammon is an octopus hugger. It’s great for making you feel warm and safe when you need to cry it out or just hide away for a while.

Mammon will work hard to do whatever you need - he’ll hold you, he’ll be a shoulder for you to cry on, he’ll listen to you speak.

You’ll probably have to tell him what sort of comfort you want. Mammon can be good at comforting, he’s just... he gets nervous about fucking it up and when he gets nervous he tends to get loud.

He’ll be better for you if he knows what you need. First because he’ll do everything to make sure he gives you that, second because he won’t be buzzing with unfocused energy.

Mammon is also extremely patient. He doesn't know what a human timescale for 'grief' is, but he'll let you take all the time you need to feel like yourself again.

Mammon will drop the tsundere act while you're in pain. If you're hurting, he's more concerned with your feelings than his own pride.

Leviathan

As a pet owner himself, and having thought he’d lost Henry 1.0 forever, he has a good idea how you feel.

His nervousness holds him back at first - he’s so afraid he’ll say the wrong thing, make it worse, or make it all about him.

Levi will try to support you at a distance at first, offering you snacks and soft plush toys. Anything he can think of that made him feel better after Henry 1.0 escaped.

If you ask for him though, he’ll do his best for you.

His room is calming, with the soft blue light and the quiet bubbling of the aquarium. You could game or watch an anime if you wanted, but Levi doesn’t mind just sitting with you if that’s what you need.

Levi’s priority is making sure you don’t feel alone. None of his brothers really understood how he felt when Henry 1.0 left. At least he can be there for you.

Levi ought to give himself more credit, because when he's focused on someone else and not trapped inside his own head, he can be a great source of calm and strength.

It's the same sort of strength that gives others the faith to follow him into battle, but this time focused on uplifting you.

Beelzebub

Beel helps out with Cerberus, but he's not really close with Lucifer's three-headed dog. It just so happens that he's the only brother with the physical strength to walk him.

He may not fully understand a strong bond with a pet, but Beel understands loss. He understands the pain of losing a family member, one you grew up with.

Beel's go to methods of comfort are food and hugs. He'll do his best to make sure you're taken care of emotionally and physically. If you're not up to dinner at the table, he'll bring meals to your room.

He's not the most talkative, but he'll make sure you know you're not alone.

Beel will keep a close eye on your emotional state. He's more perceptive than many give him credit for. If he notices you're starting to withdraw, he'll do his best to try and help you feel comfortable again.

He may ask his brothers, especially Lucifer and Belphie, for advice on how best to support you. While he understands grief, he never really processed that grief, so he feels a bit unsure.

Mostly he just wants to hold you close through it all. His hugs are big, warm, and all-encompassing, and even if the pain is still there Beel makes it easier to sit with.

Asmodeus

Asmo’s goal is to make sure you take care of yourself. He’ll take on as much of the work as he has to, but for the rest he’ll support you.

If you’re struggling under the weight of grief, he’ll be the one making sure you still get a shower and brush your teeth. He’ll take care of your hair, your skin, as much as he can if you let him.

It’s not just about appearances. Asmo is aware of how feeling clean, refreshed, and keeping up with routines can help with mental health. It’s okay if you’re not feeling your best right now, but he’s determined to make sure you don’t feel any worse.

Asmo is fairly good at noticing when you’re feeling bad, but his solutions can range from the mundane to the out there. He’ll hold you close and offer self-care days, yes, but he might also want to try aromatherapy or massage oils.

At the very least, nothing he does will make you feel any worse. His attention is all on you and his heart is in the right place, so there's a good chance it'll cheer you up anyway, even if you do start to sneeze at some of the strong smells in your room now.

You may need to give him some more specific direction if you find yourself overwhelmed.

Asmo means well and he’s determined to help, but he feels a bit unsure of how to support you best, hence all the seemingly random things he tries.

Probably has looked up “ways to support grieving human” on Doogle at least once.

Satan

Satan acts like he knows what he’s doing.

In reality, he’s really unsure and nervous about how to support you.

He wants to be a solid source of strength for you. Satan wants you to be able to rely on him, so he tries to read all about human grief and losing pets. That way, he can face you with some ideas how to help properly.

Satan has lost some of the stray cats he’s found. Often literally - one day a cat is just gone from the alley he knew they lived in. Other times, he does find them, tries to give them a little funeral. He has some experience, but it’s different - he didn’t grow up with any of these cats, didn't have a pet that was a constant for his long life.

Satan might come off as a little robotic in his support. He’s sincere, but talking is so hard… He’s a born demon, after all, comfort doesn’t come naturally to him. This is another thing for him to learn.

He’ll hold your hand, read to you to distract you and offer some calm, he’ll offer to listen if you need to get your grief off your chest.

Satan does his best to be a calming presence, a solid rock you can lean against. He’ll be there for you for as long as you need.

Belphegor

Belphie feels pretty helpless, and a helpless Belphie is a frustrated Belphie.

But Belphie is smart enough to know he can’t be frustrated around you right now, so he leaves you in Beel’s care for a bit while he calms down and tries to figure out what he can do to help.

Belphie thinks his main strength lies in being able to give you a good night’s sleep. There’ll be no restless nights for you, no tossing and turning. Being tired on top of everything else will make you feel worse, right? So he can help with that.

And that’s important, but he also just has a very calming, sleepy presence.

The very air seems to relax as he walks into a room. He exudes a sleepiness and laziness that’s infectious - makes sense, given his role is to tempt people into his sin.

What it does now is keep the grief that wants to pull you under at bay just enough for you to process it instead of drown in it.

It helps keep you grounded when you’re really upset, helps you keep breathing when all you want to do is scream.

Belphie doesn’t seem to understand that just being near you can have such an effect, but if you like having him around, he’ll never leave.

Lucifer

Uses his influence to get you a few days off RAD.

Lucifer is quite practical at first - he makes sure you're still eating, still taking care of yourself, more or less getting enough sleep. He does his best to be gentle, but he'll insist if he has to.

If you struggle to sleep, he'll offer to stay with you, or for you to stay in his bed. He's even got a few cursed records (safe!) that can assist with sleep and some non-poisonous teas.

He'll get you whatever food you want, even if it's from the human world.

Cerberus may be a guard dog, but Lucifer does love him - he's lucky to have a pet as long-lived as he is, and it's not until now that he realises that.

Lucifer hasn't tried to be of gentle comfort for a long time. Mostly he leaves that job to his brothers, trusting them to support each other while he steers them away from danger.

For you, he finds himself making the time to check in on you constantly.

Lucifer has a tendency to default to the comfort he offered his brothers back in the Celestial Realm. It may feel like he's coddling you, but that's only because he's trying to remember what he did when Mammon got really upset as a child.

Lucifer doesn't show his softer side often, but he doesn't mind if you see. He'll stay by your side while you work through your grief.
