People don't understand I need 3 different platforms for short form content, they all serve clear and distinct functions You go on TikTok to learn that eating raw bean sprouts will give you c-diff. Also that you have mere months to live because you ate some chocolate, look at this woman who ate chocolate and died. Get scared. You go on Instagram reels to remind yourself that extreme bigotry is alive and real. Seemingly thriving in the comment section under a video of someone feeding their weird animal bits of raw pasta. You then remember that an unsettling number of people get their information and political views off of social media apps and get scared again.

Gosh I have so much to say about this, but first I think it’s instructive to look at the masters heist timeline of 2019:
June 15: Taylor’s surprise Stonewall performance. June 17: Taylor releases the YNTCD video, further increasing speculation about a coming out. June 20: BMR shareholders, including Scott Swift, are told there will be an official shareholders meeting on June 25. June 24: the Joshlie second wedding occurs in Wyoming. Scooter and Yael attend, while Taylor does NOT show up to the party. This fuels continued speculation that she and Karlie are feuding. It’s important to note here that at this point, Scooter Braun already knows he is purchasing Taylor’s masters. June 25: BMR informs its shareholders of the impending sale of the label and its assets to Ithaca holdings. They have 3 days to go over the details and decide their votes. June 28: Karlie posts *sips tea* and Taylor posts “Friday calm,” insinuating that the coming out is still on. On the same day, BMR shareholders vote to confirm the label’s sale to Ithaca Holdings. June 29: Taylor receives a message from Scott Borchetta informing her of the sale of her masters. This happens while she’s flying home to NYC (presumably for pride). June 30: Tay skips pride and chooses violence. (We gather here, we line up weeping in a sunlit room, and if I’m on fire you’ll be made of ashes too —> her team deciding to drop the CO and go to war for her masters) July 3: Ash Avignon (and later Clare Winter) likes a Perez Hilton tweet claiming Taylor and Karlie are feuding is bc Karlie was telling things about Taylor’s life and career to Scooter. (I talk shit with my friends, it’s like I’m wasting your honor) July 22: a blind item is released saying Yael Braun publicly called Taylor a c*nt and a d*ke at a presidential fundraiser (lock broken, slur spoken, wound open, game token, I didn’t know you were keeping count).
During July, Karlie was also making some posts insinuating Kaylor was struggling but still very much in touch (boxing gloves, out of the blue, wearing a cold shoulder top, randomly taking a rare social media break in late July/early Aug).
Looking at this timeline, it makes one wonder if Scott and Scooter planned the masters heist for the specific purpose of keeping Taylor in the closet, believing that her coming out would tank the value of Taylor’s masters. They assumed (rightly) that she’d pivot her plans when her life’s work was threatened.
Re: the Kaylor feud, depending on how you interpret these events and the lyrics Taylor has written about The Great War, you could think one of two diff scenarios happened:
1) Taylor really did think Karlie betrayed her for a time, even though that wasn’t the case (got the *sense* I’d been betrayed // telling me to punish you for things you never did). The reality is, even if Karlie knew nothing about the masters heist, she was partying with Scooter and Yael the very same weekend he already knew he’d made a deal with Scott Borchetta for Taylor’s masters. This increased Taylor’s sense of distrust and perhaps put a temporary rift between them (you knew it still hurts underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart, but what you did was just as dark.) 2) Taylor and Karlie were mostly fine but constructed the feud narrative (tore your banners down, took the battle underground) to keep the public’s eyes off of them while Taylor created a battle plan on the masters.
Either way, we know Ash and Claire were used to push the Kaylor feud narrative. Being non-celebrities, they are often used to sell the “real” story to Swifties. Them liking the Perez tweet was the first time anyone on Team Taylor had confirmed a rift between Kaylor.
We know from Taylor’s lyrics that Karlie never actually betrayed her:
-telling me to punish you for things you never did
-looked up at me with honor and truth
-my hand was the one you reached for all throughout the great war
-it’s like I’m wasting your honor
-your integrity makes me seem small
-put you in jail for something you didn’t do
-hey it’s all me in my head, I’m the one who burned us down
-I wounded the good and I trusted the wicked
-I can’t make it go away by making you the villain
-you would break your back to make me break a smile
-dreams of your hair and your stare and your sense of belief in the good in the world, you once believed in me
-dark side, I search for your dark side
I think we can glean from these lyrics that Taylor perhaps regrets her rash decision to paint Karlie as the bad guy. Yet it also stands that the feud has given them cover to live their life under the radar.
Karlie coming to Eras tour was a really interesting shift in the narrative. But even more notably, Taylor herself has never acknowledged it. We can conclude that leaving it open ended is serving Taylor in some way. Perhaps allowing her to have her cake and eat it too (Karlie being there to support Taylor for the Eras movie filming and the announcement of 1989TV, but Taylor still not acknowledging Karlie publicly).

(diff anon) coming to bat a little bit for Damara, my problematic fave (you don't have to like her tho!! that's very valid!!)
She's not specifically Japanese (her dialogue is google translate simplified Chinese for a start). She is 'East Beforan' aka generically Asian (which is more racist). Like all the dancestors, she's a caricature of a 'type' of internet user: ~the Asian~ (racist I know) though if we look a little deeper, she's an amalgam of many Asian stereotypes.
Most obviously she's a non-English speaker in an English dominated space (which is the most interesting bit as it informs other aspects of her character and also is somewhat relatable to me (tho my experience is as an English speaker in a francophone space)) Her personality largely comes from the jirai kei subculture (originally Japanese but has gained popularity in American/anglophone spaces as well as in China and South Korea). Jirai kei's or 'landmine girls' see themselves as destructive, harming themselves and the people around them (but also like beautiful).
Her personality could also be described as a 'dragon lady' which is an American/anglophone stereotype of Asian women seen as hot tempered and strong willed. We hear that she wasn't always like this: she used to be sweet and meek which is another stereotype of Asian women- the ones often desired as girlfriends by otakus (which Ruffio embodies). Both these stereotypes are heavily sexualised as seen in Damara.
Visually, she's mostly sexy/anime school girl (the smoking coming for jirai kei but maybe also the Chinese-opium association?? idk about that one) viewed as desirable by otakus/ Ruffio.
As ever with Hussie, it's not very clear whether Damara is meant as an insult to Asians in anglophone spaces or if as a critique of anglophone internet users who homogenise and sexualise Asian cultures. Frankly, it's prolly both and neither- Hussie's use of internet 'types' makes for interesting characters but is largely void of actual reflection or intent.
Anyway basically non of this is why i like her as a character… (do you wanna hear why i like her as a character?)
Honestly, all of this is really interesting- the part that gets me is how little is actually done with it.
Like, Damara *is* all these things, it's just that she's so minor of a character, you have to be physically exhausting every route, both in universe and out, to find these things out about her. You shouldn't have to listen to character H to find out why A is frosty with B and C, and that logic still applies to the Alpha Trolls!
I think Damara is just emblamatic of the issues with Meenah's Openbound in general- we get introduced to a type of guy, we hear that they have some hidden depths, but we have to move on to the next type of guy right after. The only two that don't have this problem are Meenah and Aranea, because they're the only two that really matter.
#homestuck#hs meta#damara megido#iirc though her dialog is rendered in japanese-#so im pretty sure that it is just Bad Japanese#i do wanna hear what you think though!#homestuck analysis

Actually, @glisten-inthedark I thought I should update you on this immediately because I've since scouted more or less the whole musical for your "(heart)beat" observation and I've found some interesting things.
a) It's definitely not just a Poseidon and Odysseus encounter thing because it is in a lot of songs
b) It's not in enough songs to mean nothing/just be a random beat; it does mean something
c) It's unfortunately also not used consistently enough to deduce one meaning ... probably multiple
See, because while it SEEMS to be in earlier songs (Horse and the Infant, Warrior of the Mind, for example), I feel like in those it's too consistent to mean much (except maybe the first mention of Penelope and Telemachus at the start of HITI). The first usage I found that feels deliberate apart from that is actually in Open Arms.
It is further in Polyphemus, although I'm wondering if that one means something else because the meaning may actually differ depending on whether a god/monster or mortal is using it.
It is ALL OVER Luck Runs Out which actually kind of does feel significant (especially because it is not in the reprise in Mutiny), and it's also at the start of Keep Your Friends Close (the first conversation between Odysseus and Aeolus, specifically.)
It is 100% significant in Ruthlessness, as you've discussed.
One instance where it surprised me was actually in Done For, specifically during the part where Odysseus and Circe sing together about the people they have to protect (... not There Are Other Ways, though, not even the ending.)
It is then at the start of The Underworld ... but does not reappear when Odysseus encounters the souls of Polites or his mom, interestingly enough.
... And that's the last appearance until Get In The Water (my beloved 🫶) that I could spot. Well, in terms of Odysseus "summoning" it, anyway (one of the more fascinating observations I've made, actually.)
Because of this, I strongly suspect that Odysseus actually loses his ability to summon this beat for a while (specifically for the first part of Act 2 until the Vengeance saga and Get In The Water (my beloved 🫶) ... aka his "ruthlessness" era.) *Stares at the brief reappearance of it in Mutiny and wonders if she can sell that as proof that he threw away the monster-act in that song...*
THERE IS, believe it or not, an appearance of it in Different Beast, but specifically when the siren asks Odysseus to spare them. It carries over into Odysseus' part but it remains the same tempo and beat which I interpret as the siren being the one who summoned it.
As I've mentioned before, we further have one more brief instance in Mutiny, specifically when Odysseus is stabbed ... and nowhere else in that song, interestingly enough.
Another appearance is Legendary, specifically when Telemachus talks about his father ("I'm stuck with your stories, but no clue who you are.")
And then there is ONE BRIEF instance of it at the start of Love in Paradise, specifically directly before the time dive (nothing at the end though.)
And then ... nothing. Genuinely, until Get In The Water (my beloved 🫶)
So ... do with this information what you will. I am a bit confused about how we should interpret it because it feels both deliberate and random, somehow. In a lot of these moments, it feels like it actually signifies "Reaching out to someone with mercy/open arms" or at least "seeing eye to eye/being sincere." But I'm not sure because some of these don't fit, and if that would've been it, it should be in other places as well where it isn't.
Something very interesting I've noticed is that other than Poseidon (seemingly) no god has ever summoned this beat. Seemingly not even Athena, although she occasionally may be emulating it with her piano (especially in God Games) or the clock ticking. I am torn on whether she was the one who summoned it in Love in Paradise actually ... it may have been carried over from Odysseus' past but who knows.
So, I'm wondering if it means something different based on each situation/encounter. So, for example, it appearing in Poseidon's songs signifies something other than it appearing in Legendary or Done For.
Feel free to double-check all of these, of course, I may be wrong about some of them and I feel like I definitely missed some. But I am really interested in hearing your thoughts on this and whether you have any ideas on how to interpret it! I'm also wondering if this may be a better-known thing actually and just neither of us has heard it... Either way, it's making me more and more curious.
P.S.: This has nothing to do with the (heart)beat BUT while going through the songs, I noticed something that I figured you specifically would be interested in: In Remember Them, when Odysseus gets to "I am the reigning King of Ithaca, I am neither man nor mythical, I am your darkest moment" ... there specifically are background vocals/a choir supporting (and JUST during those lines, not earlier.) And I am honestly very skeptical whether these background vocals, at THAT moment, would be the voices of his actual crew (would they really back him up for this specifically?) I mean maybe they would but...
My point is, what if these are disembodied, and what if that supports your theory for that line being foreshadowing that he would eventually be someone who can summon disembodied vocals like gods? Just a thought...

Hi cody which of the big names (or lesser known guys that are your blorbos) do u think will play for their team for their entire career and who do u think will leave? Tampa bay is on my hit list for dropping stamkos like that
ohoho this one is FUN... everyone is my blorbo im gonna go through every team and See...
the biggest difficulty in making this list is that like inevitably b/c of the Inevitable Passage Of Time the babies grow up and sometimes they grow up into like. diff ppl... like i imagine rn the sharks and hawks respectively want mack and bedsy to be with them for life... but is that Happening? it's too early to say ... bedsy seems like he might though. he's goodcanadianboy enough.
boston bruins: marchand and pasta are 100% lifers... mcavoy seems like they want him to be a lifer but he hasn't made up his mind yet.
buffalo sabres: if they make the playoffs within the next five years (BIG IF) then i can see one of power or dahlin sticking it out. but at this point i'm pretty sure the only thing that can save the sabres is a serious exorcism and i mean a SERIOUS one so i doubt this'll happen in truth
detroit red wings: larkin. duh.
florida panthers: barkov
montreal canadiens: n/a. see buffalo sabres but replace "power" with "caufield" and "dahlin" with "slafkovsky" . i mean i guess you can put arber on that list but mostly because his career isn't gonna be that long probably
ottawa senators: the one and only THOMAS CHABOT
tampa bay lightning: i WOULD have said stamkos until this offseason... fucking crasy... ok anyway here's my juice: vasy's back injury/surgery have meant he is no longer the goalie he was and i doubt he'll command much after this contract is over. i say 50-50 he leaves vs stays as a reasonable backup/tandem guy. kucherov Wants 2 Win and has a much lower tolerance for Bullshit than stamkos, which means if a competitive price is not being paid for him he will Just Leave. victor hedman is going to be a lifer though
toronto maple leafs: morgan rielly is the only one i know in my heart is a lifer, but only because a) jt was already an islander and b) willy and auston will probably play most of their reasonable careers as leafs and then have like 1-3 seasons somewhere else as ancient old men to Cup Chase One Last Time. don't ask about the other guy you know how i feel about jinxes
carolina hurricanes: n/a
columbus blue jackets: n/a
new jersey devils: n/a... they will try to keep at least 1 hughes but i think we have seen so little of the current devils era (hischier/hughes) that it's hard to say anything about their future atm. can you believe nico was only drafted the year after auston like they haven't gotten off the ground at ALL.
new york islanders: [squints in trying to name islanders]... actually a bunch of lifers looking at it. sorokin. anders lee. barzal if you're nasty. brock nelson. etc
new york rangers: chris kreider FER SURE, igor shesterkin FER MAYBE
philadelphia flyers: see devils re: brink of something new. they're going to try and keep tk forever though
pittsburgh penguins: do i REALLY have to say anything here
washington capitals: Do I Really Have To Say Anything Here
chicago blackhawks: was about to make another bad seth jones contract joke here before remembering he's already played on a different team. no further comment
colorado avalanche: natemac has made it pretty damn clear he wants to stay an av forever, because sidcros stayed a penguin forever. do what you will with that information
dallas stars: jamie benn definitely, but everyone else is too young to say something about or has been on other teams already. good luck with your jrob21 contract negotiations stars front office You Will Need It
minnesota wild: ...jared spurgeon...?
nashville predators: did you guys know puckpedia has the preds abbreviated as NAS and they're ahead of the devils. crazy. anyway roman josi and juuse saros are gonna be preds for life, and probably filip forsberg too
st louis blues: vlad tarasenko IN MY HEART...
winnipeg jets: hellebuyck and schiefele fer sure
anaheim ducks: because they've been trying to trade him for a decade and have been unsuccessful yet: john gibson
calgary flames: n/a
edmonton oilers: nuge + mcdrai also
la kings: doughty + kopi
seattle kraken: n/a
san jose sharks: logan couture
vancouver canucks: my hot take is nobody because quinn hughes is going to pull a mark giordano or jason spezza or perhaps even a chris tanev and play the last couple years of his career as a leaf. petey is gonna slut it up somewhere else later, brock is straight up going to leave as a ufa OR sign a short bridge and then leave as a ufa, and jt miller was a ranger
vegas golden knights: n/a

ADA -> PM Switch deal fic poll
I already wrote a Tanizaki Port Mafia AU (where he decides to join on his own), so besides him, who should I write about. I'm talking about being selected for the transfer, not voluntarily joining. (Excluding Yosano, ofc as well as Kenji, and Kyouka b/c just nO!)
Might include ships, but might not depending on the person.
Here are some ways I think each member could be good in the PM:
FUKUZAWA
no extra training required
knows Mori
and is at least somewhat familar with Yokohama's underground
Kunikida and/or Ranpo could take over the ADA
he canonically has bloodlust
and only stopped killing because he knew it was BaD
people would be AFRAID
it's be really interetsing b/c if he goes Ranpo might follow
and then where would the ADA be?
Prob tortured Fukumori
slowburn (idk how good I am at writing slow burn but we'l see . . .)
rekindling of old failed toxic love that was killed before it could really get anywhere or see if it could bloom into sometjing pure
now they have to figure it out in their new circumstances
and if it even can work
but first they'll have to admit that there's still even the faintest hint of something there
and even then Mori will have to WORK for Fukuzawa's love (don't worry)
RANPO
while he has no combat training he is hella smart
we don't even need to say that
kind of reminds me of Elise
so i don't think Mori would have that much of a problem dealing with him
though i HIGHLY doubt mori would do that to Fukuzawa
unless he picked him because he actually wanted Fukuzawa and knew he’s volunteer in his place
ranpo could be and (somewhat is for the ADA) a brillaint strategist
he could be an analyst
the PM's enmies would cower in fear and so would any traitors
ranpo could deduce their location and plans in seconds
people would fear him for his mind alone
even if it took a bit for them to realise exactly how scary he actually so
if Mori did pick him Fukuzawa might follow him and transfer as well so . . .
Two for One?
I probably won’t write him b/c he’s already in the mafia in one of my other fics
but maybe I could write where Mori picks him and Fukuzawa volunteers instead
maybe Mori even knew that would happen.
either way, like i said, if he picks one he’ll prob get both
KUNIKIDA
he's organised and efficient so he could easily manage trading operations domestic and overseas
he's smart even if we may not see alot b/c of dazai and Ranpo
he could probably pickup languages easily
i think he'd be great at undercover work since he's actually capable of being subtle
and he used to being around *normal* people more and has better social skills
i feel like he's the type where he can look totally differnet with a diff hair style (or colour) or even if he just take soff his glasses or doesn't wear his little vest or something
and his ideals don't align exactly with the law, only what he thinsk is right
he’s willing to do what is necessary to get the job done
if joining the pm and controlling Yokohama’s underworld means less crime and violence overall then he’ll do it
i still think he wouldn’t kill but
he'd prob be really good at interrogation and combat missions that didn't involve killing (like theft or kidnapping for information/money or something)
I don't think he'd be the perfect fit but if they wrapped or broke him enough he could be absolutley terrifying in the mafia
No ships
Kuni has way higher standards (58 criteria to be percise) and these FREAKS meet none of them
DAZAI
people ahve so many opinions and theories that I'm not even going to get into this
his story, emotions, and lore are so complex I'm not even going to try b/c I feel like i won't do hima nd his character development justice
maybe some other time
NAOMI
I know I said I wouldn't do Junichirou
but if you're getting one, you're getting both
they're a package deal
and what's not to love
besides Jun's crazy killer skills
Noami is smart, savage and a little cruel (how she treats Jun when he's seasick) and unhinged
(thinking of the time she suggested Atsushi do sexual stuff for his entrance exam)
not to mention Dazai tutors her
if you can't have Dazai, why not have his student?
(I swear that's canon, correct me if I'm wrong though
)
she has the potential to be heartless, sadistic, and terrifying
She also likes to see people (Junichirou, at least) squirm and be uncomfortable or suffer to some extent.
idk
maybe that’s just their dYnAmIc though
(thinking again of how she treats him when he says no to her and is clearly uncomfortable. Also when she talks loudly and obviously about sexual stuff in front of others.
im not sure if it’s intentional or if she really is that insensitive or unaware of how it makes others feel
i suspect the former
I prob won't write her either
but maybe if I focus on her story more it won't seem TOO repetitive
Idk
what the people want, the people get
but we just know sooo painfuly little about her (aside from her in relation to Jun since their *thing* is kinda her whole personality *cringe*)
unlike some I still like her
If i did there would be no ships
idk even who to ship her with in the mafia
or maybe i'd be BOLD and go for the ewwie incest
idk
if not then prob very abckground Tachizaki
ATSUSHI
obviously, his ability
it's the full deal: stength, speed, agility, regeneration
the perfect partner for sskk
the thing last Mori needs for his SKK 2.0
his combat skills are a little haphazard (relying on brute force mostly) but Kunikida has been taring him in martial arts a little even though they have hardly has any time with all the CHOAS
you're prob thinking "NO WAY! He litterly says he needs to save people to live! That's liek hsi whole thing!"
you're right
but if Mori or the other executives wrapped him i think
b/c he's so insecure
they could convince him
(kind of like they did Kyouka, only her will is stronger than Atsushi's)
that violence and destruction and killing is his purpose and what he was born for.
But, I doubt Mori would go the route of telling him it's all he's good for and that if he doesn't do it, he's good for nothing again.
He knows it didn't work the first time and it's too easy to reverse esp since Atsushi has already been with the ADA.
I think Mori would set about convincing him that he deserves to let his anger out for all the world has done to him
that the world is his enemy and that he should punsih it
that people deserve his wrath for allowing a society where he could be treated the way he has been exists
Prob slowburn eventual SSKK
on this blog we say Aku is just fine, perfectly okay, and doing well
They're still going to fight like angry cats
Aku will prob realise his feelings when he finds himself misisng Atsushi's old personality
idk
meanwhile Atsushi is just drowning in the brainwash
the "bliss" of anger and he's too unaware even to fight it
still SSKK become partners
and knowing them, it's to the point where only they don't know they are together
them "not-dating" will prob be like their messed up theray and break Atsushi's trace or smth
maybe they hide the fact that he's not mid controlled or whatever form Mori
Atsushi might still decide to stay just to keep any other agency members form geing tansferred
and who knows he may even learn to like it
idk
i haven't thought to far ahead yet
it's too late and i should be in bed but
ANYWAYS here you go!

So my doctor prescribed me a double course of Dificid (which will cost my insurance around $8,000) for my recurrent c. diff. He also mentioned starting me on a course of Vowst, which is an oral fmt pill that's useful for unlucky gals like me who just can't shake the infection. I was looking up the pricing information for Vowst and-
I'm literally crying rn. I think I might actually cost my insurance half a million before the end of the year, and considering they almost killed me due to not approving my prior authorization until I was admitted to the hospital (which resulted in me having multiple surgeries this year) idgaf, they can fuck right off and pony up every single penny for my medication. 😈

The Ultraman Suit Squad (as they were at the end of Season 2) vs Neskia Eabareld, Veruze Loia, Saroia Mivea, Dakolra Mivea, and Hazole Aldruze.
As always, I’ve sent you all of these OCs’ abilities in DMs.
Again, that's too many characters in a single ask
But since I can group them together to discuss so I'll answer this time, but I think u asked this before here
You're essentially asking whether yr OCs can overcome Type C since he powercreeps the entire squad, for the full analysis of his abilities, I answer before here:
First OC was alr covered
For the rest, I can compare their physical stats (strength and speed specifically) together, they literally cannot compete with Type C obviously when u compare his feats that I listed out in the previous ask
As for durability, your term "average M78 Ultra Armor" ill intepret as the M78 Ultras from the Space Garrison and not just the average M78 Ultra since most are non combat units, which based off of Taiga, the average strength is around 1 NG which I also covered previously, which I also stated that Type C can be arguably scaled to that
As for their ranged attacks which can penetrate through a material that's ~3x as strong as diamond, its honestly hard to say if Type C can take the hit cause its essentially also asking if a 1 NG Ultra can take the same hit, which is an equally difficult question to answer since I don't recall any numbers, the closest comparison I can rmb is X getting severely knockbacked by Telesdon's drill, Orb SZ tanking Maga Grand King's Maga-Perforation and Maga Tano Orochi's very of which completely penetrated OO, the reason why I picked these 3 specific examples is because said kaiju's abilities enable them to live deep underground as it allows them to drill through said materials which includes diamonds, but you're asking about an attack that's capable of destroying sth that's 3x as strong as diamond here
But I can totally sidestep this consideration since Type C is just so much more ridiculously faster than all of them combined that he could easily just outpace and dodge their ranged attacks and wait for openings. However, the issue is I'm just not sure if Type C's strength or Specium Ray can necessarily overcome yr OCs' durability since while as said, u can arguably say that Type C can be scaled to 1 NG, at the end of the day, we have never seen a definitive feat on this other than being based on context
(Tho the stats distribution for yr OCs are really weird since their speed and strength dosent scale with their durability)
Unless iirc, u mentioned before that yr OCs had its own scaling of Ultra Brother level (10 000 NG) of power in your AU = 1 NG in canon?
If u consider that then Type C can easily no diff everyone here
Otherwise there's not enough information to reach a definitive conclusion
Thanks for the question!

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #22: TIONNE "T-BOZ " WATKINS
One of my favorite girl groups from my generation was TLC. I have always liked TLC, and I have liked the fact that they felt they didn't have to dress in sexy clothes or show too much skin to get their message across in their songs. Their lead singer, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, also has sickle cell disease, and has been using her celebrity status to raise awareness of sickle cell across the US and around the world.
I used Tionne's autobiography for her typing, which is pictured here:

Incidentally, there was enough information about her bandmate, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, to be able to type her as well, as EF(N); however, Tionne is the main focus of this post, so on her I will stay
It was clear, after reading the first 6 or 7 chapters, that Tionne had extroverted sensing and thinking; as well as introverted intuition and feeling. However, I had a hard time figuring out whether the extroverted or introverted functions were conscious, so I read the rest of the book. It still wasn't clear, which functions were conscious, so I turned to my old friend, DISC. Through DISC, I was clearly able to classify Tionne as the D/C profile. I didn't do a complete DISC on her, so I wasn't able to get further than the D/C profile and ET(S) for her. Maybe one day, I'll do a more extensive DISC assessment on her, and get her actual SOJT differentiation pattern, but for the purposes of the Typing in Practice posts, it's fine enough to say she's D/C and ET(S).
Another clue that helped me decide she was ET(S) and not ES(T) was her Enneagram. Tionne is clearly a gut type who would easily get typed as an 8 if we just went by her behavior. However, when we consider Tionne's motives and coping mechanisms, it's clear that she's actually a core 1. Therefore, Tionne's intensity and passion was likely coming from an sx instinctual variant, and not the core itself. There will be more on this in a Typing In Practice Bonus post, but anyway, Enneagram 1 cores are much more likely to ET(S) than ES(T)
As I didn't do a thorough DISC assessment on Tionne. I don't know if she had a typology twin among my dream people. I'd say, if she does though, it's likely Harry, as she and Harry were both ET(S) and 1w2 sx/sp. I will link Harry here:
I was also able to determine Tionne was VFEL in at least Attitudinal Psyche, and she might also be VFEL in Psychosophy, considering she's ET(S) + sx.
Tina Turner is next. Until then, see ya

Operator in C

In C programming, operators are symbols that tell the compiler to perform specific mathematical or logical functions. Operators in C can be classified into several categories:
### 1. Arithmetic Operators
These operators perform arithmetic operations on variables and data.
```c
+ // Addition
- // Subtraction
* // Multiplication
/ // Division
% // Modulus (remainder of division)
```
Example:
```c
int a = 10, b = 3;
int sum = a + b; // 13
int diff = a - b; // 7
int prod = a * b; // 30
int quotient = a / b; // 3
int remainder = a % b; // 1
```
### 2. Relational Operators
These operators compare two values and return true or false.
```c
== // Equal to
!= // Not equal to
> // Greater than
< // Less than
>= // Greater than or equal to
<= // Less than or equal to
```
Example:
```c
int a = 10, b = 3;
int result1 = (a == b); // 0 (false)
int result2 = (a != b); // 1 (true)
int result3 = (a > b); // 1 (true)
int result4 = (a < b); // 0 (false)
int result5 = (a >= b); // 1 (true)
int result6 = (a <= b); // 0 (false)
```
### 3. Logical Operators
These operators are used to combine conditional statements.
```c
&& // Logical AND
|| // Logical OR
! // Logical NOT
```
Example:
```c
int a = 10, b = 3, c = 0;
int result1 = (a > b && b > c); // 1 (true)
int result2 = (a > b || b > c); // 1 (true)
int result3 = !(a > b); // 0 (false)
```
### 4. Bitwise Operators
These operators perform bit-level operations on data.
```c
& // Bitwise AND
| // Bitwise OR
^ // Bitwise XOR
~ // Bitwise NOT
<< // Left shift
>> // Right shift
```
Example:
```c
int a = 5; // 0101 in binary
int b = 3; // 0011 in binary
int result1 = a & b; // 0001 (1)
int result2 = a | b; // 0111 (7)
int result3 = a ^ b; // 0110 (6)
int result4 = ~a; // 1010 (binary for -6 in 2's complement)
int result5 = a << 1; // 1010 (10)
int result6 = a >> 1; // 0010 (2)
```
### 5. Assignment Operators
These operators assign values to variables.
```c
= // Assign
+= // Add and assign
-= // Subtract and assign
*= // Multiply and assign
/= // Divide and assign
%= // Modulus and assign
```
Example:
```c
int a = 10;
a += 5; // a = a + 5, now a is 15
a -= 3; // a = a - 3, now a is 12
a *= 2; // a = a * 2, now a is 24
a /= 4; // a = a / 4, now a is 6
a %= 5; // a = a % 5, now a is 1
```
### 6. Increment and Decrement Operators
These operators increase or decrease the value of a variable by one.
```c
++ // Increment
-- // Decrement
```
Example:
```c
int a = 10;
a++; // a is now 11
a--; // a is now 10 again
int b = 5;
int c = ++b; // c is 6, b is 6 (pre-increment)
int d = b--; // d is 6, b is 5 (post-decrement)
```
### 7. Conditional (Ternary) Operator
This operator evaluates a condition and returns one of two values.
```c
condition ? expression1 : expression2
```
Example:
```c
int a = 10, b = 5;
int max = (a > b) ? a : b; // max is 10
```
### 8. Special Operators
- **Comma Operator**: Used to separate two or more expressions.
- **Sizeof Operator**: Returns the size of a data type or variable.
- **Pointer Operators**: `&` (address of), `*` (value at address).
Example:
```c
int a = 10, b = 5;
int result = (a++, b++); // result is 5, a is 11, b is 6
int size = sizeof(a); // size is typically 4 (depending on the system)
int *p = &a; // p is a pointer to a
int value = *p; // value is 11
```
These are some of the fundamental operators in C, which are essential for performing various operations and building complex expressions in your programs.

Shell
Manpage
Most of Unix systems are managed by using Shell. Just as you need to know a minimum number of words to have a discussion in a language, you need to know a minimum number of commands to be able to easily interact with a system. Unix systems all have, sometimes with slight differences, the same set of commands. While it is not too hard to remember commands, it might be hard to remember all of their options and how exactly to use them. The solution to this is the man command. Let’s go through a part of the ssh one, as there are few elements to know to be able to read a man page:
NAME ssh — OpenSSH SSH client (remote login program) SYNOPSIS ssh [-1246AaCfgKkMNnqsTtVvXxYy] [-b bind_address] [-c cipher_spec] [-D [bind_address:]port] [-E log_file] [-e escape_char] [-F configfile] [-I pkcs11] [-i identity_file] [-L [bind_address:]port:host:hostport] [-l login_name] [-m mac_spec] [-O ctl_cmd] [-o option] [-p port] [-Q cipher | cipher-auth | mac | kex | key] [-R [bind_address:]port:host:hostport] [-S ctl_path] [-W host:port] [-w local_tun[:remote_tun]] [user@]hostname [command] DESCRIPTION ssh (SSH client) is a program for logging into a remote machine and for executing commands on a remote machine. It is intended to replace rlogin and rsh, and provide secure encrypted communications between two untrusted hosts over an insecure network. X11 connections and arbitrary TCP ports can also be forwarded over the secure channel.
Some tips:
The NAME will summarize what the command is doing. As it is usually super short, you might want to look at DESCRIPTION (bellow) if ever it does not gives clear enough information
The SYNOPSIS will help you to understand the structure of the command:
A shell command usually have this format: command options parameters
Options inside [] are optional
The string without [] are mandatory
ssh [-1246AaCfgKkMNnqsTtVvXxYy] [-D [bind_address:]port]
ssh is mandatory
-1246AaCfgKkMNnqsTtVvXxYy is optional
-D [bind_address:]port is optional (with bind_address: being itself optional within -D [bind_address:]port
Commands
Here is the (non-exhaustive) list of commands & concepts you should master to be verbose with Unix systems:
awk # pattern scanning and processing language basename # strip directory and suffix from filenames bg # resumes suspended jobs without bringing them to the foreground cat # print files cd # change the shell working directory. chmod # change file mode chown # change file owner and group crontab # maintain crontab files curl # transfer a URL cut # remove sections from each line of files date # display or set date and time dig # DNS lookup utility df # report file system disk space usage diff # compare files line by line du # estimate file space usage echo # display a line of text find # search for files in a directory hierarchy fg # resumes suspended jobs and bring them to the foreground grep # print lines matching a pattern kill # send a signal to a process less # read file with pagination ln # create links ls # list directory contents lsb_release # print distribution-specific information lsof # list open files mkdir # create mv # move files nc # arbitrary TCP and UDP connections and listens netstat # print network connections, routing tables, interface statistics... nice # execute a utility with an altered scheduling priority nproc # print the number of processing units available passwd # change user password pgrep # look up processes based on name and other attributes pkill # send signal to processes based on name and other attributes printenv # print all or part of environment pwd # print name of current/working directory top # display Linux processes tr # translate or delete characters ps # report a snapshot of the current processes rm # remove files or directories rmdir # remove directories rsync # remote file copy scp # secure copy (remote file copy program) sed # stream editor for filtering and transforming text sleep # suspend execution for an interval of time sort # sort lines of text file ssh # OpenSSH SSH client (remote login program) ssh-keygen # SSH key generation, management and conversion su # substitute user identity sudo # execute a command as another user tail # output the last part of files tar # manipulate archives files tr # translate or delete characters uname # Print operating system name uniq # report or omit repeated lines uptime # show how long system has been running w # Show who is logged on and what they are doing whereis # locate the binary, source, and manual page files for a command which # locate a command wc # print newline, word, and byte counts for each file xargs # build and execute command lines from standard input | # redirect standard output to another command > # redirect standard output < # redirect standard input & # send process to background

RCPA microbiology training – resources and notes (Part 2)
Part II preparation
I approached this quite differently from Part I - I didn't really use textbooks but instead spent a lot of time going through guidelines and websites instead.
I continued to use my Anki study deck from Part I (which functioned as revision for Part I knowledge), and kept adding to it during this time.
My study group prepared for this in a similar way to Part I viva by running through questions with each other – by the time we got to the exam we were all very used to answering questions over Zoom in the viva format!
Book reviews
How to be a lab director (I used a version that was around 2014, updated version is https://www.amazon.sg/How-Be-Lab-Director-2023/dp/B0BR9CYH1C/)
This is the one book that really stood out to me for RCPA Part II preparation
Very frank account of managing a laboratory that includes talking about management, quality and EQAs. But because it is so frank - some of it is stuff that you can't use as an answer during exams! Very useful for thinking about various aspects of lab management that you might not have come across previously.
Websites and guidelines (Australian)
Part I websites/guidelines/alerts remain important, though I went into the websites in far more detail this round and read a lot more guidelines.
Additional websites and guidelines that may be more Part II related than Part I related as below. I generally just went to each website and kept clicking on links and documents that sounded potentially related to microbiology then read as much as I could around these.
RCPA website
As for Part I - webinars, policies, guidelines, position statements
Also has slides/information on
Management and clinical governance
2022 workshop slides
Laboratory informatics
Pathology informatics workshops 2019 and 2023 slides https://www.rcpa.edu.au/Library/Practising-Pathology/PTIS/APUTS-FAQ
NPAAC/NATA
2020 risk based NPAAC standards
2022 NATA RCPA accreditation assessors workshop
POCT elements of a quality framework (June 2014)

Multi-resistant organism surveillance
Best to browse around the site and have a look at anything that sounds related to microbiology. The site is quite broad so need to sieve out microbiology-related things (like the above list) from the ones that are very unlikely to be of relevance to microbiology.
NATA/RCPA accreditation
NATA https://nata.com.au
Human Pathology ISO15189 https://nata.com.au/accreditation/medical-laboratory-accreditation-iso-15189/
There is also this gap analysis document https://nata.com.au/files/2023/03/SAG_11_2_ISO_15189_2022_Gap_Analysis.pdf that analyses the differences between 2012 and 2022 versions of ISO15189.
NATA accreditation process
https://www.odwyeraccreditation.com.au/nata-accreditation/nata-accreditation-process/
TGA https://www.tga.gov.au
This has a lot of information on medical devices (IVDs), biologicals, etc. Again probably best to browse around the site and have a look for microbiology-related things.
Some of the information they have that is likely relevant to microbiology include
IVD standards https://www.tga.gov.au/how-we-regulate/manufacturing/manufacture-medical-device/manufacture-specific-types-medical-devices/vitro-diagnostic-ivd-medical-devices

Australian Privacy Principles
https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/australian-privacy-principles/australian-privacy-principles-quick-reference
Individual state department of health websites, health.gov.au website
I went through the websites and clicked on anything that sounded potentially relevant to ID or microbiology. There is quite a bit of good information on these websites so is useful to just click through them, and some states have nice guidelines for certain things.
As for Part I – also looked at current health alerts here.
Clinical incident management

The Ultimate Guide To Attorney Marketing Lead Generation: Strategies For Success
In today’s digital age, the legal landscape has become increasingly competitive, making it crucial for attorneys to embrace effective marketing strategies to generate leads and grow their client base. Attorney marketing lead generation is not only about getting more clients; it’s about reaching the right audience at the right time with the right message. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore proven strategies to help attorneys maximize their lead generation efforts and ultimately boost their practice’s success.
Understanding the Importance of Lead Generation
Lead generation is the process of identifying and cultivating potential clients or leads for your legal practice. It’s the lifeblood of any successful law firm, as without a steady stream of new clients, your practice may stagnate or even decline. Effective lead generation ensures a consistent flow of potential clients who are in need of your legal expertise.
Creating a Strong Online Presence
In today’s digital world, having a robust online presence is non-negotiable for attorneys looking to generate leads. Here’s how to do it effectively:
