Noelle had returned from her vacation early because she heard about the accident her niece had, but also because the temporary baker filling in for Liza was getting a lot of complaints. She'd returned about a week ago and she was still trying to figure out how she could let go of the temp baker. In all her years of being an owner, she'd never had to fire anyone before.

"Oh, Sully, what am I supposed to do? She's so sweet but she can't bake to save her life. I can't tell you how many cupcakes we threw out today because they were burnt to a crisp." Noelle pinched the bridge of her nose as she tried to think. "Gosh, I didn't think it would be so hard!"

It felt strange going to the bakery when Liza and Noelle weren't there. Noelle had been on a trip for a few months and now Liza was out of work due to her injury. Wes and Liza were babysitting Sunny that day, so Wes stopped by to pick up some cookies for the girls so Liza wouldn't have to bake the cookies herself at home.

Sunny had begged to come with him so he let her and when he opened the door, the little girl immediately ran up to the counter. Wes let out a laugh and smiled as he watched her before looking up and seeing Sully at the counter. "Hey! Long time no see." He greeted him, knowing Wes hardly ever came into the bakery if it wasn't to meet Liza and the bakery was pretty much the only place he saw Sully.

A first time customer was great to see, especially since it meant if the staff made a good impression, the guest would be more likely to tell their friends. "I do, yes! My name is Kronk Cabrera. I'm the new manager, here, just looking to get to know our guests and offer my gratitude for choosing us."

There were so many things that he could recommend at the moment, that it was hard to pick just one. "Well, I have to say, the gumbo is a fan favorite around here, and for appetizers, the spinach puffs are quite good as well." A humble brag, he thought to himself. "And of course, we have some delicious desserts, as well."

Sully wasn't one to eat out. He was a decent enough cook, but he preferred to prepare his own dishes, with his tried-and-true recipes and the ingredients he liked best (the fact that Redwood had had a bunch of poisonings recently also meant that he considered making his own food a safety precaution, too).

And yet... Evangeline's had had nothing but rave reviews, and Sully had gotten curious. Maybe he could treat himself to a nice fancy meal just this once.

"Thanks. First time," Sully replied. He was still undecided on what to order. "Uh, I suppose you work here... Is there something you'd say is particularly good? The house's specialty?" He knew the restaurant was rather new, but clearly it had become quite popular in town. Sully still wasn't quite sure how he managed to get a free table, among all the enthusiastic clients.

Gillian's expression softened at his words when he mentioned the last few years. She'd known him for all of ten minutes but she could tell Sully was a good guy and definitely was someone she could see herself being friends with. "Oh, god no." She assured with a laugh, shaking her head. "My boy is a total sweetheart. Like, the epitome of that golden retriever energy thing. You two would probably get along great actually. And I tend to be a hit with kids, so I'm doubling down on this meant to be friends thing." Gilly grinned as she said it before nodding behind herself, "I need to get back to work, but I'll catch you around sometime soon? Hopefully without frosting all over you next time."

Hearing that he was being considered in good hands was such a weird thing for sully to hear because since he’d lost his parents and spent the better part of a year in custody hearings he felt a little sort of lost, but when he looked at it he had a good support network. There were people who were making sure that if he fell on his face they would be able to help stand him back up. “ yeah which is honestly comforting because it had been a rough few years before “ he noted as his expression softened again at the idea they were sipped to meet. “ it seems that way, just don’t call your partner to come get me or anything, I’ve got a five year old sister who acted just like Boo when she was younger. “ he added with a small smile. “ honestly most of the ice creams would taste really good with the desserts. “ @thegillyxliang

"You like?" Sage grinned as she twirled in her dress, letting Sully's little sisters get a good look at it. She obviously needed their approval, especially Sera's. With Sera's reaction she felt like her mission was accomplished.

"Now, don't you girls worry, I'll have big brother home before midnight so there's no concerns about our ride turning back into a pumpkin so we won't be too late." She smiled at Sera, knowing she'd like the Cinderella reference. Sage turned then and saw her boyfriend behind her, her face softened and she tried not to get emotional over the fact that they had come so far since their first prom together and yet they were still together. Happy and loyal to one another.

"Look at you! Too bad there's no prom king this year, you'd have my vote you look so handsome."

She was caught entirely unaware, the force of the collision almost sending her fumbling to the ground. For a heart-stopping moment, she teetered precariously, her arms flailing slightly to regain her balance. Yet, with a remarkable display of composure, she managed to catch herself before any real mishap occurred. As if nothing untoward had happened, she smoothly straightened her dress and offered the man a reassuring smile, her eyes twinkling with a touch of understanding. "No harm done, sir, truly," she assured him, her voice light and steady. "Do you perhaps have some new glasses by any chance? That's always such an adjustment in the beginning, isn't it? It's exactly the same with my own father dearest; he bumps into everything for the first few days whenever he gets a new prescription."

Coming out of the ophthalmologist (now wasn't that a fun word for Scrabble night) Sully blinked as the midday light briefly blinded him. He wasn't really excited about needing reading glasses now, but it could be worse. He could need everyday glasses. It could be a hindrance for his work. No, he was lucky, in a certain way. Pity that his job benefits didn't include paying at least partly for his brand-new eyewear, though.

Now, the doctor had said he had to wear the glasses for a little while to get his eyes used to it. Sully knew he meant 'at home', but still he left them on as he stepped out of the building, making sure they didn't squeeze his temples too much, and that they didn't slip off the bridge of his nose. Everything seemed okay so far.

PIcking out the case from his jacket pocket, he remembered he still had a pack of peanuts in there. He popped a few into his mouth, and headed to leave the doctor's doorway, when he accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh --sorry. Didn't see you there," he said, mouth still full of peanuts. Immediately, he gave them an awkward smile. "Well, isn't that ironic."

Explain then why did he save quaritch? I think he should have died instead of Neteyam but I'm willingly to listen and understand him if you explain him.

Next time, if you want me to answer a question, ask me a question. That's generally how these thing work. If you're willing to listen to me, you have to actually ask me to tell you something first.

So, there are two major reasons that Spider saved Quaritch. One, because he felt like he owed him. Quaritch put down his knife to save Spider, regardless of wether or not Neytiri would have killed him, which is debatable in fandom. Quaritch believed she would and tried to save Spider's life. Quaritch and Spider had developed a Stockholm/Lima syndrome type relationship. Spider has been neglected his whole life, and attention, even abusive and unhealthy, felt fucking great. Two, Spider was raised essentially Na'vi. All life is precious to the Na'vi. He did not go looking for Quaritch to save him; he was looking for Jake, Neytiri, and Tuk, and hoping to save them. He was unable to leave someone behind to die. He didn't seem to have a problem with Quaritch being killed when it wasn't on his hands, he didn't go looking to save Quaritch from the shipwreck.

Now on another note, narratively, here is why the story would be a hell of a lot worse if Spider died instead of Neteyam. Stories are about conflict, you understand? Neteyam's death and Spider's survival cause a fuck of a lot more conflict and character development than the other way around does. In fact, Spider's death and Neteyam's survival kind of wraps everything up in a neat little bow. All the Sully kids live, Jake and Neytiri never have to confront their neglect of Spider, Quaritch is dead and no longer haunting the family, Neytiri never has to confront her trauma in relationship to humans and Spider, there is no guilt storyline for Lo'ak to have that mirrors Jake that will push him to develop, and everyone can mourn him and move on.

Quite simply put, if Neteyam lived and Spider died, the next few movies would be pretty boring based off of what they had set up in this one.
