who: the boss @viktor-liddell where: viktor's office when: post-event
There would be less fanfare if the apocalypse had happened, Alexei was convinced. Perhaps fanfare wasn't exactly the right word to describe the palpable tension that buzzed in the air, but Alexei wasn't sure that his vocabulary currently contained an alternative. He'd tried to avoid his older brother for as long as possible, even going so far as turning off his phone though Alexei knew full well that it would likely get under Viktor's skin (he had a talent for annoying in a way that only a sibling could,) but a day had passed and he'd figured that it was time, in fact, to put them both out of their misery.
"Okay, let's have it," he announced, sauntering into his brother's office without so much as a greeting. "I know you're steaming about all the things that went wrong and all the things that could have gone wrong and all of the things that will one day go wrong. So, lay it on me. How'd I fail the great one this time?"

@maledictiis | VIKTOR
“you can’t keep me here.” theris protested as he tried to push past viktor. “i-i need to save them!” he heard the screams from outside, his chest rising and falling quickly. he felt the flame inside of him stir, the beast wanting blood. “i can protect myself.” he had control over the beast now, no longer turning uncontrollably.

˙ ˖ ✶ Viktor
"Shut up, Vik, you don't get it," she scoffed rolling her eyes at him. "no I got it, just gotta be a big girl and toughen up...actually, go ahead I'm sorta comfortable right now,"

❛ uh, sure, really hard. ❜ he doesn't see how blushing would be considered a restrictive problem for a snack pick up. ❛ want me to go grab that for you . . . ? ❜

Mateo had known it had been a few weeks since the last time he tried to visit Viktor and see their baby. With a light sigh he stepped closer to the front door shakily and gulping a little. His hand slowly raised and knocked on the door slowly while he bit down on his lip. “P-please answer...” he whispered, almost inaudibly while he waited.

This whole Viktor thing… well, it’s a pretty big deal, right? Should we say something, make a formal gesture?  Welcome him as brothers? Should we, I don’t know, mark the occasion somehow?

The rain pattered lightly against the glass windows of the library, the night so dark reflections of the candles flickered in the panes. Tucked away in a corner, shielded from curious and prying eyes, Hermione flipped through a couple books as she jotted down notes on her parchment, ink smudges tainting her hands. She had been there for hours, and for those who past her nook and caught sight of her nest-like hair, they merely brushed it off as Hermione studying, most likely for her N.E.W.T.s. However, with a quick glance at her watch and another note jotted down, her finger flipped a page of a textbook entirely dedicated to spellwork. A gentle feather lay motionless beside her things, but as another robe fluttered by when a student passed her table, the light barbs quivered from the gesture, causing Hermione to halt her note-taking and conceal the feather back into its paper binding and stored away in her bag.
The honey-like hue of the library shined brightly on her face as she took a break from researching, hands aching and coming up to rub her cheeks. She barely noticed the faded streaks it left behind against her rosy skin, but she did catch sight of the round-shouldered Bulgarian as he searched for her amongst the rows of shelves. “Viktor,” She called out, lifting her hand to wave him over as Madame Pince shot a stern glace between the books at the two of them.

Love and Lifeguards
“Fifth time World Champion and Olympian swimmer Viktor Nikiforov has just won another gold medal!” Viktor climbed out of the large pool with a grin on his face, whipping his hair cap and goggles off. He pushed his bangs away from his face then winked at the cameras before slipping his jacket on and walking back to the showers, flashes of cameras accompanying him.
To say that Viktor was thrilled would be on the opposite side of the spectrum, he just wasn’t motivated to swim anymore. Competitions were the same every single time, different people, different places, same medal, same cameras, same sinking feeling in his chest.
By the time the event was over Viktor had everything packed and was nearly pushing his team mates back to the cars to get back to the hotel, back to the serenity away from the cameras.
“Vitya stop pushing or we’ll all slip!” Yakov shouted in his normal fashion, making Viktor sigh and just pick up speed to the cars. Viktor’s pushing was brought with a young Yuri Plisetsky screeching. “I’m not dying today because of you old man!”
The team made it through the ceremony and their last night in the city before boarding the plane back to Russia. As soon as everyone was free to go they dispersed quickly, not wanting to be roped into helping get the pool locked up for the night. Viktor hefted his duffle over his shoulder then made his way out the double doors, his face staring back at him from a young age to the newest addition of his latest competition.
He let out a sigh as he climbed into the car then pulled out and drove to his apartment. It was bare when it came to levels of comforting, a pristine white with grey hues and a few succulents, per the hipster fashion he had to keep up with.
As he walked in he was tackled by a large ball of brown fur, Makkachin’s way of greeting him when he came home. Viktor smiled softly, much different than his normal -almost smirk- he gave to the camera at the events. He rubbed behind Makkachin’s ears then stood and tossed his bag next to the door, taking his shoes and coat off in the process.
“Hi Makkachin, were you good for the sitter?” Viktor smiled warmly at his poodle who gave a soft ‘boof’ in response with an accompaniment of licks. “Good. I won another gold, isn't that nice?” He had a tired smile on his face as he pulled the familiar sight of the medal out of his bag then held it up, the gold letting a soft gleam shine as it was held to the light.
Viktor gave a sigh then smiled and scratched Makkachin behind the ears before walking down to his room and immediately plugging his phone in. He laid down on the bed with a small, uncontented sigh and let the medal fall to the ground.
“Let's go on a vacation Makkachin, just you and me for once okay?” Viktor let a small smile out as he heard Makkachin’s woof in agreement before she jumped on the bed and curled up next to him.
The next few days were spent with Viktor researching small cities, places people wouldn't think of to find him at. His search ended at a sleepy coastal town in Japan, Hasetsu. He excitedly held the photos up for Makkachin’s inspection then scratched her behind the ears. “We’re going to be going in a week, Da?” All he received in acknowledgment was a ‘boof’, making him smile and laugh genuinely in what felt like a long time.
When the day finally came for the two to travel to the unknown Hasetsu Yakov had caught wind of the impromptu vacation. “You’ll have a hard time recovering from this vacation Vitya, you might not come back.”
Viktor simply smiled, almost smirked, before enveloping his coach in a hug. “Dasvidaniya, Yakov.” Yakov turned a familiar shade of scarlet as Viktor strolled through the airport, Makkachin in a carrier at his side. “It's just you and me now Makkachin. Let's make it count.”
Once the plane had landed Viktor had made his way to customs and out of the airport, Makkachin at his side and his bags on a cart. It wasn't hard for him to get a taxi to his hotel and throw the things in the room before throwing on a pair of swim trunks and a t-shirt to go exploring in. “Alright Makka, let's go on an adventure today.”
Yuuri Katsuki sighed as he took position on the lifeguard tower, his sunglasses dropping precariously low on the bridge of his nose before they were pushed up to their standard position on his face. Seeing that their pool was the only one that allowed dogs, a special side pool and grooming stations just for them, it was quite popular. People didn't like their dogs full of sand and the pool had the added bonus of a snack bar.
Nothing was out of the ordinary for that day, a crying baby, a toddler jumping into the middle section of the pool to prove how old their were, a high school student floating on their back, a hot silver haired foreigner, parents lounging in the chairs. Wait, a hot foreigner? Yuuri’s attention immediately went back to the silver haired man standing at the entrance with what could arguably be the cutest poodle Yuuri had ever seen.
The man walked in, staring at the little doggy pool then the washing stations before looking around for what Yuuri assumed would be the head lifeguard. Instead the man walked up to him and flashed an absolutely blinding smile. “Excuse me, are dogs allowed here?” What kind of accent is that? European kind? Swiss? Russian? Ukrainian?
Instead of answering the man’s question Yuuri let out a noise akin to a dying whale before clearing his throat and smiling right back. “Yes dogs are allowed here, there are grooming stations and a special pool just for them with lifeguards there as well.”
Viktor had to admit that what they had set up for the dogs was impressive, not as impressive as the sight of the blushing Japanese man in front of him. He almost lost it as he walked inside the gates, his eyes landing on the cute lifeguard. “Ah, thank you. I'll be sure to come back another time when Makka is not so tired.”
He watched as the cute lifeguard nodded with a smile before giving his attention back to the pool in front of him. Right before Viktor was out of the gates he heard a collective screech from a few people followed by a small splash into the pool. He turned around, only to be met with the sight of the cute lifeguard, his shirt off and saving a toddler from drowning. The fact that a toddler had almost drowned was giving him more than enough reason to stare, an added bonus was being able to stare at the cute man’s sculpted chest as he lifted the child out of the water and made sure she was alright.
His thoughts were consumed by the cute lifeguard as he walked back to his hotel, his hair windswept and a brighter smile on his face that rivaled any he had shown at events. As soon as he was situated in his room he pulled his phone out and grinned down at it. He quickly began to type, wanting to tell someone about the cute guy he'd met that day. That someone happened to be Chris Giacometti.
V:Chris!
C:Viktor!
V:I just me the cutest lifeguard I've ever seen in my life!!! His eyes were like the color of best chocolate you've ever tasted and his hair was so shiny, shinier than any of the medals we've won!!!
C: Oh min vän you've got it bad.
V:Got what?
C:Nothing, how are you going to get Mister Chocolate Eyes into your room or at least out on a date.
V: I dunno
Should I just take my shirt off??
C: I have a better idea, take your shirt off AND get his attention by taking your pants off too and using your competition suit.
V: I'm never asking you for help again.
C: Didn't hurt to try min vän
Chris meant well, he always did, but Viktor speculated that his friend and fellow swimmer often thought of things he himself did not. He sighed as he sat on the bed, absentmindedly running his fingers through Makkachin's fur.
The next day Viktor brought Makkachin to the dog friendly pool, intent on meeting the cute lifeguard. In the end he decided that (a.) he was going to take his shirt off (b.) do his best at pretending to drown, and (c.) live happily ever after with his cute lifeguard boyfriend and their twelve dogs.
By the time he got all of his things situated Makkachin had made herself comfortable in the dog friendly section. Viktor whipped his shirt off with a flourish, watching the lifeguard’s eyes go wide before shifting in their seat and looking away. He merely smiled at being noticed by the cute man and made his way to the deep end.
Viktor dove in smoothly before remembering that he wasn't supposed to be good at swimming and promptly began to thrash around in the lifeguard’s line of sight. Yuuri looked over at the sound of thrashing before whipping his own shirt off and neatly diving in after the same silver haired man from the day before. He slid his arms around the taller man’s waist then made his way to the side of the pool and had him grip onto the wall. “Thank you.” For a man who almost drowned he seemed oddly cheerful.
“Oh, your welcome?” The man smiled then held a hand out. “Viktor Nikiforov.” Yuuri smiled in return and shook the hand offered. “Yuuri Katsuki.” Viktor grinned even more widely then hummed. “Well thank you than Yuuri, I owe you and will gladly take you to dinner tonight.”
Yuuri became a stuttering mess after Viktor announced he was planning to take him out to dinner. “Oh you really don’t have to do that, it’s my job.”
“I know, but I want too. Do you want to go to dinner with me?” Viktor turned his most dazzling smile on Yuuri, causing the man to let out a small squeak and nearly drown himself. Yuuri spluttered then nodded with a bright blush spreading down his neck and to the tips of his ears. “I-I’d like that.”
Viktor’s smile turned more genuine, a heart shaped endearing smile when Yuuri had said yes. The two climbed out of the pool then parted ways after exchanging numbers, Yuuri going back to his lifeguard tower and Viktor going over to get Makkachin from the dog section.
Their dinner-to say the least- was a near disaster. A group of students recognized Viktor, making the two have to run at Viktor’s insistence and Yuuri’s confusion. They ended up at a small bar in town with large bowls of katsudon and a grinning bartender known as Minako.
“Yuuri who’s your new hottie, this your boyfriend?” Minako raised an eyebrow with a small smirk on her face. Yuuri laughed nervously then rubbed the back of his neck. “Oh, Viktor isn’t my boyfriend Minako-Sensei. He was at the pool and nearly drowned. So, uh, I did my job and he wanted to take me out to dinner?”
“Yuuri saved me from drowning!” Viktor added in cheerfully then took a sip of water. Minako raised a brow then nodded. “And you seem a little eager about that?”
Viktor nodded then fumbled with his chopsticks for a second before taking a large bite of katsudon. “Vkusno!” After he had swallowed her grinned happily and looked at Yuuri with glittering eyes. “Yuuri this is so good!”
Yuuri nodded as he ate his own at a slower pace.
The weeks continued on with the same pattern, the two getting extremely close, at least three days out of the week Viktor had “drowned” and Yuuri had to jump in and save him. It had happened so often that Yuuri handed an inflatable tube to Viktor as soon as he walked in with Makkachin.
They both were out together so often that many people had recognized them as an official couple and greeted them together daily.
By the last day of Summer rolled around Minako had told Yuuri who Viktor was before his last shift for the season. He walked down to the pool with a small smile on his face, after opening the gates he took his position on the lifeguard tower and watched as the large crowd rolled in.
Soon enough Viktor was there again with Makkachin, the two set their things down then Makkachin went to the dog part and Viktor made his way to the pool. Viktor jumped into the deep end of the pool then promptly began to flail around in the water, giving a pointed look to Yuuri.
Yuuri raised an eyebrow then crossed his legs and placed one hand on his fist. He took a sip of his water then grinned at Viktor when he stopped and smoothly swam over to the base of the stand, head on his arms. “You didn’t rip your shirt off that time Yuuri.”
Yuuri laughed then climbed down and sat at the edge of the pool to look down at Viktor. “Well Nikiforov, I didn’t need to.”
Viktor raised an eyebrow then pulled himself out of the pool to sit next to Yuuri. “Well what made you decide that?”
Yuuri laughed before pushing his hair away from his face and shaking his head. “I was pretty skeptical when Minako-Sensei told me but it looks like she was right Mister Olympic Swimmer.” Viktor laughed nervously then pushed his bangs back. “Well, I guess that’s out of the bag then.”
Yuuri smiled then nodded. “Just a little bit Viktor.”
Viktor laughed then laid back and closed his eyes. “Yuuri?” Yuuri raised an eyebrow as he placed his head on his fist then hummed in response.
Viktor opened an eye then smiled at the Japanese man in front of him. “You said you were looking for a job after Summer right?”
“Yes, why?” Yuuri laid down next to Viktor then smiled. “Did you have something in mind, Vitya?”
Viktor laughed then propped himself up on his elbows and smiled. “Actually, how does working at my pool in St. Petersburg sound?”

☞ black lake riddle
below the cut is the script to the chatzy of viktor and hermione completing the first riddle.
[ continuing from this thread ]
Viktor Her request caught him off guard. His initial reaction was to turn her down, tell her in no uncertain terms would he help her on what was certainly a dangerous quest. But her reasoning behind wanting the wish tugged at his heartstrings. And he knew how determined Hermione was—it was one of the things he liked best about her—so Viktor knew if he didn't help her, she'd find someone who would. At least he'd been down in the Black Lake before, albeit to rescue her. But he'd been down in it's cold, dark depths and felt capable of taking on whatever threat may await them down there. "Are you certain you vant this?"
Hermione His question gave her some hope, it wasn't a yes, but it also wasn't a no, and she could still convince him. "I want this more than anything-- I want my parents more than anything, Viktor." She pleaded, memories of them filling her mind as she stood there, hands to her chest as she waited. If he declined, she was going to do it anyway, but with a companion it was easier to solve the riddles and complete the tasks.
Viktor Viktor looked deep into her eyes for several long seconds, seeing them filled with determination and longing. He knew how deeply she felt their loss and this was a noble cause. "Okay, I vill help you." Help protect her, help her crack this riddle. It did intrigue him. "Come on, let us take a look at that copy of Hogwarts, a History I know you must haff stowed avay in your pocket." Did she ever go anywhere without that thing?
Hermione When he agreed Hermione was filled with such excitement and relief-- she had a chance, her parents still had a chance, and she was also one step closer to keeping the wish out of wrong hands. "I've been reading all day, Hogwarts, A History doesn't have any information on the Black Lake. I'm not surprised, Bathilda Bagshot is very biased with her writings." She mumbled, rolling her eyes. "Actually-- I've written out what I think the riddle means." Reaching into her bag she pulled out a neatly folded parchment and handed it to Viktor. Inside were tons of little notes cleanly written, arrows pointing all around the page and all connecting back to the parts of the riddle.
Viktor Picking up the parchment she placed before him, Viktor attempted to put it all together. He was used to her scribbled handwriting from years of letters but this was unlike anything he'd ever seen. It was mad. Lines crossing over each other. Notes half scribbled out and replaced with a newer idea. A chain of arrows at one point seemed loop back around to the beginning in a circle. All put together it seemed like a bigger riddle than the one they started with. "Vhat... vhat does any of this mean?" The only thing he could make out was the Black Lake, but his mind had gone there too the night of the ball.
Hermione “It’s all right there,” Hermione explained, looking over his arms and point out the different parts of the parchment. “Beneath hidden waters-- that’s the Black Lake, what other /water/ are they talking about? Within a cave-- there must be a hidden cave somewhere under the Black Lake, and /that’s/ where the next riddle is. Travel far and outsmart the monster that lives in the dark-- swim deep enough into the darkness and find the Giant Squid! Squids live in darkness, especially giant squids, and we’ve got to travel into its cave and outsmart him so we can achieve the next clue.” She looked at him, a twinkle of ambition in her eye as she felt so proud of herself for working on and solving the riddle all within a day.
Viktor It did all fit together nicely once she explained it, but he still couldn't see how all of that was supposed to tell him that. "Sure, sure," he said in a reassuring tone, as if it really was all there. In Hermione language he supposed it was. "Last time I vent down in the Black Lake I had a shark's head. I think that is the only reason the Giant Squid did not bother me." Viktor honestly didn't fancy the idea of trying that transfiguration again. Aside from how uncomfortable it was, it didn't give him an adequate range of motion. "How do you suppose ve get down there?" During the tournament Cedric and Fleur had used the bubble head charm while Harry had used gillyweed. Viktor knew Professor Slughorn had taken all his gillyweed to a more protected spot but he was sure they could get their hands on some. He had a soft spot for Hermione and had already sent Viktor two invitations to dinner so far this term.
Hermione “We won’t do the shark head transfiguration,” Hermione reassured him, a faint smile on her face as she gently took the parchment back from him and shoved it into her bag, looking around to make sure they weren’t being heard. “Gillyweed might take a few hours to wear off, I don’t think we’ll be under there for long, but if we are, it’s also not reliable to extend if we do need more time. I was going to suggest the Bubble Head charm. We just have to be cautious not to pop it, and that way we can still cast spells with our wands.”
Viktor He worried that the bubble head charm could be easily punctured by something they encountered down there, but he also thought it was a good option. "Okay," he said with a nod, still processing that they were actually going through with this when he'd been so staunchly against it ten minutes ago. "Vhen do you vant to go?"
Hermione "Well-- I was thinking we could go right now... Any longer and someone else could reach the riddle before us and get the second clue." She bit her lip, worried he would decline and offer to go another time.
Viktor There wasn't any reason he couldn't go now, it just seemed so soon. This was important to her though and Viktor couldn't bring himself to tell her no when she was giving him that look of desperation. "Yes, ve should go now."
Hermione With a nod, she took his hand into her and began to pull him along, down the corridor, keeping her eyes away from the stray of students who watched her and Viktor. It was almost past curfew so it was the best time to sneak onto the grounds without watchful eyes. "We have to be careful, Viktor. No one can see us-- I don't want anyone but you knowing I really want this wish." Hermione was so overwhelmed with her own feelings and emotions, for a split second she wondered if Viktor ever wanted the wish for himself. She stopped in her tracks, turning to look at him, her hand still in his as they stood in the entrance hall. "Just a moment-- I never asked, I'm so sorry, but do you want the wish, Viktor? I kind of just dragged you into all of this without considering if you were ever interested."
Viktor His eyes shot all around, looking for anyone watching them. His skills as the world's best seeker (suck it Harry) really came into use. There was no one he saw watching them, the only students in the vicinity were a few couples taking up in dark corners. "I understand, your secret is safe vith me." It wasn't the first time he kept her confidence, he liked how much trust she placed in him. As they neared the lake Hermione surprised Viktor by asking if he had any interest in the wish. "Oh no, I am content vith my life at the moment. It is all for you." He had simple tastes and was content with his life thus far.
Hermione Hermione breathed out a sigh of relief as Viktor vowed to keep her secret, admiring how much he really did care for her. It was a shame the others, mainly Ron, never really got along well with the young Bulgarian, he was always so loyal and kind. “Thank you,” She replied, a small smile forming over her lips as he reassured her that he did not want the wish. For a moment, she felt selfish for being relieved, but then the memories of her parents flooded back and she quickly remembered why she wanted this in the first place. “Let’s go,” Once again, she was off, pulling him along as they broke through the entrance doors and down the pathway that lead to the lake.
Viktor The air on the grounds was eerily still and not even the Whomping Willow was moving tonight. The stars in the sky seemed to have taken the night off and clouds covered the moon. They were shrouded in darkness but Viktor didn't light his wand for fear of being noticed. There was a small beam of orange light coming out of Hagrid's hut that illuminated the path to the Black Lake. Keeping ahold of Hermione's hand, Viktor steadily made his way over and before too long the were standing at the shores. "Alright, shall ve discuss anything else?" They were about to literally dive into the unknown, he didn't think they could plan for any obstacles but it didn't hurt to ask.
Hermione Hermione bit at her lip as she tried to think of anything important before they entered the water, throwing her bag and slipping her robe off. "Never leave the other unattended-- we can't risk losing each other." Next she worked on her shoes, slipping them off her feet quickly and placing them beside her other items that were now along the rocks and sand of the banks. “We should light our wands once we get under water, and just try to swim as deep as you can. Look for any signs of the squid or a cave.”
Viktor Viktor nodded in agreement as he too pulled off his robes and cast a silent warming charm over them both. That was one thing he hadn't done the last time they were in these waters together and he didn't want to take any pepper up potion when they got back to fight off a cold. The taste made him sick. "I von't let you out of my sight," he promised. Protecting her was the majority of why he had agreed to this. "I vill keep my eyes, how you say, peeled." Once Viktor had taken off all articles of clothing that could weigh him down, he took a few steps closer to the edge of the lake and stared down into the black depths. Of course he couldn't see anything but he half wished they'd learn right here and now if they were on the right path. With a deep breath, Viktor turned his wand on himself and cast the bubble head charm. He signalled that he would jump in first, he wanted to make sure the coast was clear, and then when he didn't find anything dangerous under the water he signalled her to join him. But he didn't let his guard down knowing that anything truly dangerous was lurking near the bottom.
Hermione Hermione was silently thankful when she felt the heating charm placed on her, glad Viktor had thought of that quickly before they dived in. If the mood was lightly and not as anxious, maybe she would have laughed at his ‘peeled’ joke, but all she could do now was think about what hid under the lake and how long it would take them to find the cave. Walking beside him towards the edge, she let Viktor jump in first as she casted the Bubble Head charm on herself, keeping a peeled eye around her before Viktor gave her the signal. Her heart raced as she plunged under the water, hair swirling around as she muttered a lumos and her wand lit, eyes searching for Viktor. Spotting him, she waved him over and pointed downward before she began to swim in that direction. It wasn’t long before the water became foggier and it was harder to see in front of them, the weeds and plants of the lake slithering around and wiggling from the motion of the swimming, and becoming thicker as the dived deeper. She looked up to catch a glance at Viktor, giving him a reassuring thumbs up, but as her hands lifted something grabbed at her ankle and suddenly she was being dragged further into the abyss, a grindylow piercing into her ankle.
Viktor Things were going smoothly until about fifty yards down. The light from Viktor's wand couldn't reveal what was hidden in every shadowy nook and cranny. His eyes scanned everything in front of him, as if he were looking for a snitch, except he was looking for a murderous snitch. Viktor made sure to never let Hermione out of his sight and just when he was checking on her, he saw something come up out of its hiding hole. A grindylow's long claws sunk into her soft flesh before he could stop it. But Viktor was quick on the draw and shot off several fiery hexes as he swam back over to her. The grindylow howled in pain as boils erupted where the spells had hit. By the time it let go it had managed to put them back several yards in the opposite of the direction they wanted to be. With one final curse, Viktor had chased the grindylow off. His eyes turned to her ankle, soft swirls of red blood blending into the water around them. He cast a healing spell he'd picked up from years of quidditch. They wouldn't want to lure anything else out from the scent of blood. Once the threat was taken care of and the bleeding stopped, Viktor motioned for them to press forward. He just wanted to get down to the cave so they could get back out.
Hermione A scream erupted from her lungs but it was useless as it was muffled by the bubble around her face. As she hurled further into the greens, Viktor’s reactions were quicker and he managed to hex off the grindylow from her ankle. There was blood and it was quickly swirling, she was in so much pain, but he managed to heal what he could with a charm, Hermione impressed with his skill in magic. She quickly thanked him by reaching out and squeezing his hand before swimming forward and getting back on track. This time, they had practically reached the bottom of the lake, it was just a matter of keeping out of the roots of the weeds and searching for the cave. Motioning her wand around, she chose a random direction and followed a pile of boulders until it lead her to a giant rock-fixture, almost like a wall. She looked back at Viktor, smiling and thumbing up once more, pointing her other finger at a cave that was a couple strokes above them. They had gone just a little deeper than needed. Swimming up, Hermione cautiously checked her surroundings, poking her wand around first before entering the cave. The moment the first half of her body crossed the threshold, a slithering form rushed out of the cave, the Giant Squid’s eye looking down at them as it hovered in the water above, and within seconds it inked and polluted the water around them, leaving Viktor and Hermione in darkness. She reached around looking for him, trying to enter the cave, the thickness of the ink too dark for her wand light.
Viktor When the Giant Squid was upon them it became clear to Viktor that he needed to stay behind to keep it occupied while Hermione moved on. He tried to vanish some of the ink around them but it was no good, when one small patch was clear the inky water would quickly fill it back in. He was able to find Hermione after a few panicked seconds and did his best to guide them to clear waters. He signaled for her to enter the cave and then pointed from himself to the squid. Viktor watched her go inside before turning on the squid. He didn't want to hurt it, just keep it from hurting them. He attempted to cast a barrier but the first try just bounced off the large beast, making it scared and angry at the same time. It's long tentacles began snaking their way towards him and Viktor knew he had to act fast or it would grab ahold of him. Taking a deep, steeling breath of the bubble head charmed air, Viktor cast a strong barrier charm that kept the squid at bay. But he didn't know how long it would hold and hoped Hermione wasn't encountering anything dangerous inside the cave.
When Viktor signalled for her to enter the cave, Hermione nodded, hoping he would be alright. They were already breaking the first rule of not splitting up, but it had to be done if they wanted to keep the Giant Squid out of the cave and away from the riddle. She began to swim deeper and deeper until a blue hue came into focus. Smiling, she had found it, and she was right! As Hermione got closer, the huge was the shape of the patronus eagle with the red eyes but not even that could frighten her or stop the excited grin on her face. The eagle greeted her, its mouth opening wide, and informed her she needed to remember the riddle for there was no parchment involved this time. That was probably the simplest part about the task for Hermione-- for forte, of course she’d be able to memorise the eagle’s riddle.
The second task is simple, for those who are clever, only a ready mind and a yearn for learning can prove their worth for the wish. At the tallest height, when midnight is past due, the orb will glow and transfer you to a restricted room. Remember to bring the lightest of feathers, for behind the bindings of a book entirely of spells, an incantation of levitation is needed to materialize the third task for you.
He bid her goodbye and stopped glowing, retreating back into the cave, but Hermione didn’t stay long. She kept reciting the riddle over in her mind as she swam faster through the cave. Eventually, she came out and slipped her arms around Viktor who was holding off the Giant Squid with a shielding charm.
When he noticed she was there, he pointed his wand up towards the surface of the lake, which seemed to be miles away. They could barely even see in front of them from the thickness of the lingering ink, nevermind the break of the water. However, they shot through anyway, propelling at such a fast speed that Hermione held on tighter to him, closing her eyes to prevent from getting sick.
Once they broke surface and the bubbles popped from their face, Hermione had to hold in the happiest laughter as she beamed over at Viktor, the moonlight reflecting off of the water droplets on his face.
“Viktor, we did it! We figured out the first riddle and we’ve got the second one!” She whispered, reaching over and hugging him.
Pulling herself away and swimming back towards the banks, with the help of Viktor, Hermione lifted herself onto the dock, holding out her hand and she pulled him up as well. Her clothes were soaking and she was grateful for the heating charm they had, but she didn’t waste any time discussing anything with Viktor just yet as she ran towards her bag, pulling out a parchment and trying to write the next riddle without drenching the paper too much. “I can’t believe this-- we actually did it. It’s all real.”

"Are you sure you want to do this?"
Effy waited, mulling the question over in her head as she stared into the Olsen’s eyes. There was a possibility Mara would never forgive her for this, but she had to do it. “Yes, I am. I will take him on with you.” She nodded, determination filling every feature of her face, “We will bring Beckett down, and make him pay for what he did to her.”

Effy waited, mulling the question over in her head as she stared into the Olsen’s eyes. There was a possibility Mara would never forgive her for this, but she had to do it. She’d always thought he was a monster, and recently she’d learned differently. No one could be a monster with lips as gentle as Viktor Olsen’s were. A shy nod motioned a yes that she could hardly get out from her own lips as she ran her thin fingers through his hair. “Yes, I-” She paused lightly as their lips met, causing tingles to run through her spine, “I am sure.. Viktor.” She whispered against his lips, breath ragged as she felt his hands move under her blouse with permission.
I’M SORRY I DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS IS DEAL WITH IT.

Walk With the Noise || Kyle and Viktor
Mercy and generosity worked in the strangest ways. For Vetis, those virtues were severely lacking for the enigma of corruption. However, the sole purpose of his existence did give him an excuse to act less of a Good Samaritan.
His psyche had been tugged at, his name had been called. Two timid voices that had so boldly asked for a favour, in exchange, their loyalties.
Oh darlings, let's see where your loyalties lie after this.
Corruption came in many forms, from a slip of paper with a six digit figure hastily scrawled upon passed beneath the table, to a kiss of a young woman who should be refraining herself from a man who had a wife waiting for him in their empty bed. A resurrection, was corruption of nature, the circle of life forced to turn its wheel backwards.
And, my, what a pretty face. No wonder the two mortals had wanted him alive once more. It would be quite the most unfortunate waste to let him slip out of this world and join another. So perhaps it wasn't for the two witches that Vetis had granted this boy life.
Perhaps it was safe to say it was more for his own entertainment.
And how long had it been after that fateful night? 72 hours? He couldn't be quite sure, he had lost the patience to keep up with time- a century was like a blink of an eye for Corruption.
Of course, not everything would be returned to normal. The dead were meant to stay dead, being brought back to life had its costs. But that, that was none of his concern. Though the boy did catch his interest, not many were foolish enough to bring back a loved one.
Normally direct and blunt, Vetis can work in the most subtle ways, and he decides to gently breeze into the boy's life. Let the artist admire his creation, hmm?
Tumblr media
Corruption finds himself in the midst of the boy's consciousness, and he had to admit, the boy's essence has become awfully jagged. Thick, white smog wrapped itself around Vetis, wisps of cool tendrils slowly spreading through the open space.
"--Kyle." Vetis called out softly, chin tilted up ever so slightly.
                                                                                                                                                 Come hither.
