riiese asked: this isn't what it looks like. â Ingvar, for Dean talking yourself out of something memes : : OPEN
The forest floor deep in the ravine nestled into the base of a mountain ridge was coated in thick moss and other foliage. He listened to the sounds of the streams and trees groan and twist together with each step he took along the muddy earth. Letting his mind wander, Dean chose to imagine entire civilizations once existing within it all. In all actuality, he was out there lost on the tail end of a hunt that didn't seem worth his time.
He came across a small clearing and forcefully shoved himself through the brush and bushes, batting away spiders and moths that latched to his coat collar and buttons. He took a deep breath, shouldering himself through the remaining vines, tumbling forward across slime laden rocks. Instead of instant frustration it was instant awe... shock maybe when his eyes locked onto the form of a massive creature in front of him. His jaw drops slightly at the sound of their voice and his eyes widen- then almost sarcastically narrow. "Really?" he raises a brow and manages to fold his arms across his chest. "Because it looks exactly like... like it looks, to me." he stumbles over his attempt at wit. "You're not uh... you're not like that guy from the whole.. Jack and the Beanstalk story are you- you don't uh, don't grind my bones, make me into your bread type thing?" he's surprisingly calm for literally encountering a giant.

W: You make me feel seen as a writer
X: Youâre someone Iâd love to talk to more
(I couldn't pick just one!!)
đđđđđđđđđđ đđđđđđđđ | đđđđđđđđđ
You really went out and chose almost EVERY one of them..literally just not the Z and B..more too? I'll actually Go over 'em.
I'm happy that you love seein' me on your dash. There are gonna be days you're just gonna have to give me the keys to your dash because that's when I'll just spam out drafts whenever I'm in that mode.
My writing style, I'm glad you like it. Though, I do need to get a little better. Being descriptive is something of a weakness for me but I'll get better. Though I'm still grateful to hear you comment that you like it, it means a lot, trust.
My weakness is that the muse' canon is something I'll always want to expand on. For instance Yusuke's food truck and secret private detective work? Took that off the books where his job as a food vendor was really a front for him handling supernatural work. Then everything else beyond that stems between all the yakuza games I played, just the ones that would make sense for him. I'd say 90% of my headcanons can be traced back to the original yyh manga.
My creativity with my plots really just come from the games I play and the movies and shows I've seen. I mean I don't mind the simple 'interaction' between muses where they just stand and talk. But I also love to keep things moving.
Super happy you appreciate the interactions. Ingvar is something of an older brother to Yusuke, or at least it's how he sees him and not only because he's incredibly small XD
My aesthetics. Hoo boy I've seen some impressive things on this site, but I do appreciate your compliments AND your kindness.
I've inspired you?? MORE THAN ONCE?! Man I dunno how I did that, but I really hope you've got some good stuff written out because of it, because your writing is just top-notch.
Respect is what keeps this world spinning. I'm also glad to hear you feel safe on this lil blog of mine, so you damn well know I'll do my best to keep it going.
IF i made you wanna write more and more, then I hope ya do it. You're a terrific writer, so I'd love to see more of oyur stuff over my dash thank you very much.
I'll definitely support you in everyway I can for sure. If there's a way I can do more to help feel free to look me up in the dms. Granted my replies on there are VERY slow.
As for heavy topics, I wonder if I have thrown out heavy roleplays here and there. I pretty much tag whatever I feel would sound triggering that's for sure.
Haha whatever humorous post I've ever made is basically cause I've got me some great writing partners to bounce ideas off of.
I love it too, Yusuke being the isekai person in a fantasy world and he's pretty much doing what he can to learn about the world while befriending his friendly giant.
You have my sincerest gratitude for that kind of honor. To be one of someone's favorites on here?? Nah that's not something I take lightly, not in the slightest. Thank you soo much.
Been around here for a while, glad we've got someone as great as you in the community too.
My dedication, Oh man, I adore this guy soo much from day one all those years ago.
People have lives outside of roleplaying not to mention because of my hundreds of queues (no exaggeration) my replies always tend to be soo soo late.
I'm glad because you're one of the best writers I've met on here.
When it comes to talking, you really can find me mostly on discord.
#â mail ââ when i rush make your butt pucker the fuck up.#riiese#took my time with this one cause it hits in the feels

4. Nobel Biocare Implant Placement Procedure
The nobel biocare implant placement procedure is a carefully planned, multi-step process designed to ensure long-term success, stability, and aesthetics. With Nobel Biocareâs advanced technology, patients experience minimally invasive surgery, faster healing, and highly predictable results.
Step-by-Step Guide to Nobel Biocare Implant Placement
1. Initial Consultation and Treatment Planning
Before the procedure, a thorough dental examination is conducted, which includes: â
Dental and medical history review to assess overall health â
X-rays and CBCT scans to evaluate bone density and jaw structure â
Digital impressions for a precise implant placement plan â
Discussion of treatment options, costs, and expectations
If bone loss is detected, bone grafting or a sinus lift may be required before implant placement.
2. Pre-Surgical Preparation
â The dentist ensures the patientâs oral health is optimal before surgery. â Antibiotics or mouth rinses may be prescribed to reduce infection risk. â Local anesthesia or IV sedation is administered for comfort.
3. Implant Placement Surgery
The implant surgery is performed in the following steps:
A. Tooth Extraction (if needed)
If a damaged or decayed tooth is present, it is removed before placing the implant.
In some cases, immediate implant placement is possible after extraction.
B. Preparing the Implant Site
A small incision is made in the gum tissue.
A precise hole is drilled into the jawbone to accommodate the implant.
C. Placing the Nobel Biocare Implant
The titanium implant post is inserted into the prepared site.
The gum tissue is sutured over or around the implant.
Advanced Options: Nobel Biocare offers: đš Immediate Function Implants â Implants can support a temporary crown on the same day. đš Guided Surgery â Using NobelGuide, the procedure is more accurate and minimally invasive.
4. Healing and Osseointegration (3-6 Months)
The implant undergoes osseointegration, where it fuses with the jawbone.
Healing time varies depending on bone quality, patient health, and implant type.
A healing abutment may be placed to shape the gums for the final restoration.
5. Abutment Placement & Final Crown Fitting
After osseointegration, the implant is ready for the final restoration:
â Abutment attachment â A connector piece is placed on the implant. â Crown or prosthetic placement â A custom-made porcelain or zirconia crown is secured. â Final adjustments â The dentist ensures a perfect bite and aesthetic result.

Additional Procedures â Bone grafting, sinus lifts, or extractions may increase overall costs.

Mr. C saw and picked up some appropriately sliced bread when he was coming back through Stockholm yesterday, so he decided to play sandwich chef again this evening.

Tonight, we got sort of a hybrid gangplank sandwich cake.
(A different makeshift approach from the UK, back in 2010! Ye gods, we're getting old. I still cannot resist that terrible Muppet edit, which kinda explains the inclusion here.)
But, I say "hybrid gangplank" because what he found was some of the horizontally sliced landgĂĽng loaves, generally used to make something open faced more like this:

Yep, whoever ICA paid to do that one is a much better food photographer than I have ever pretended to be.
But, he decided to construct a smĂśrgĂĽstĂĽrta using it instead.
This time, we got a couple of flavors of cream cheese, sliced Port Salut cheese, ham, and salami along with some sliced cucumber and radish. Wasn't necessarily a combo I would have thought of, but the end result was pretty tasty. (Not too surprisingly, we do have some different ideas about sandwich fixings.)
As for the bread itself? It turned out to be some of the disappointingly dry and crumbly commercial GF stuff which is best served toasted, then generously lubricated with something. Looking at the ingredients, that's not really a surprise. Even Mr. C commented that this could have done with some layers of mayonnaise or similar to moisten things up and help sort of glue everything together.
Other than that, though? There was enough other good stuff to almost make up for that, and I won't be sorry to finish it up later.

@markedmuses' Ingvar asked: âHave I frightened you? â
----
Most of the time, Roxane is content to stay well within the confines of the farmhouse and the surrounding hills. There are few regular instances in which she leaves - market days in Ombra, on which she sells what she can and buys what she needs (on those days, she also visits her daughter at the castle); home visits in both Ombra and the surrounding fields and forests for the patients who cannot come to her; and finally, to forage in the Wayless Wood for herbs and ingredients that can only be found in its depths.
This morning, it is the later.
She was out in the woods, gathering a small green sprout from between the massive roots sprawling across the forest floor, when she came across the giant. Roxane almost had not noticed him at first but then she stopped...and her eyes widened.
There might have been a time in which he would have frightened, and even now he sent her heart speeding just a little faster, but she had seen a giant up close before. She had witnessed their power, but also their gentleness.
"Frightened me, no," she answered, straightening her stance just slightly as she peered up at him. "Surprised, yes. Your kind don't stray this far south...."

âHumans...! They think they own everythingâŚâ (-Ingvar)
"Indeed they do," Ayako remarked, tilting her head a little to indicate Ingvar's current mood. His statement was negatively tinged, but she could not deny it in the least. She did not take herself out of the equation in the process.
"Are you saying that because it just popped into your head, or did something happen to reinforce that opinion?"

ââ It was an accident. Simply an accident. ââ (-Ingvar, for whoever you would like!)
Geralt had been working this particular job for just about a week now. Tracking the creature had proven quite difficult, with a pattern of short breaks in between quick, erratic travel patterns, but Geralt had just managed to catch it sleeping. His hand had just curled around the hilt of his sword, his footsteps silent as he moved forward, when there was a slight rumble beneath his feet, a swaying of the trees somewhere behind him. It wasn't much but it was enough to wake his prey.
The creature's head shot up, wide eyes fixing on something behind him before they took in the sight of the Witcher. It instantly ran off, the erratic nature of its travel briefly demonstrated in its zig-zag retreat.
Geralt's jaw set in a hard line, teeth clenched together. Anger instantly moved through his veins like poison though he made no move to do anything with it. Instead, he simply turned to cast an accusatory glance at the giant that looked behind him. He must have been resting somewhere nearby, far enough away that Geralt hadn't yet come across him but huddled down so he didn't see him either.
"You couldn't have waited a moment longer?" Geralt snapped, ignoring his words.

@thoseofonenâ wanted a starter from cursed Leopold
He was so hungry. It had been a while since anyone had given him anything, and Leonard didn't feel like reducing himself to begging. That's why he was near the bakery, out by their dumpsters. No one seemed to be around, so it was safe to look inside the trash to try and find food to eat.
But there didn't seem to be any discarded food here. Maybe the bakery did something with the food they didn't sell by the end of the day. He sighed, pulling his head out of the dumpster and turning around to leave.
Sometime while he was looking in the dumpster, a man had approached. Leonard recognized him as someone who worked in the bakery. He always looked intimidating from afar. He seemed even more intimidating now that Leonard had been caught rummaging through his garbage. All the color drained from his face and he backed up, until he was pressed against the dumpster he'd just been looking in.
âI'm sorry sir. I was just looking. I can g-go now.â That was assuming that the much taller, stronger man would even let him go. Even though he hadn't been attempting to steal, and was only trying to take unwanted food, Leonard couldn't help but fear the other man would be angry.
As he waited for the baker's response, his stomach growled suddenly. Leonard couldn't silence it, but at least that would tell the man exactly why he'd been rummaging in his garbage.

Flowers sprouted, grew, and bloomed brightly in a matter of seconds as great, scarred fingers brushed along the ground, starting in close proximity, then moving out in a ring. A deep, gentle humming, surreal and calming as it filled the silence utterly, came from that great figure seated there, that giant, that Ingvar, as he did this. In the branches above, birds sang their songs, several even perched upon his broad shoulders.
It all ceased in an instant-- the humming, the new blooming, the birdsong, the birds on his shoulders-- with a flinch and a gasp as, behind him, he heard something. Someone. His blood felt like it was ice in his veins.
"W-Who-- who goest there?" he dared to ask, not brave enough to turn his head and check nor to ask for what reason they had come, whoever it was. Goddess above, he thought, he prayed! Please let it be a friend.
(-Ingvar, if this is ok for me to send!!!)
Oaklynn does not hear the gentle humming that rumbles through the forest, nor does she hear the words Ingvar speaks when that humming ceases. The birdsong is lost too to unhearing ears, making the forest a vast land of silence to the small child standing still behind the giant.
Even still, she understands she has startled him as much as his size has startled her. She sees it in the way he suddenly stops moving, a single flinch bridging his movements and his stillness. She sees it in the sudden tension he now holds in his body.
What she doesn't understand is why he doesn't look back at her. Usually people look back when they are scared.
She almost decides to step around, moving to face him instead, but she does not know what he is or if he's dangerous, and that fear keeps her rooted to her spot too.

June of Jesper 2023 Part IV
(cheating a little here perhaps)
Enigma (It's The Repent Harlequin AU!)
@brotherbandarchive
wherein my Heron Dance Troupe AU blends with the short story I read a while back and my bizarre instinct for stage adaptation...continue at own risk
Here's the link to the short story, Repent, Harlequin, Said The Ticktockman, if you're interested:
And: casting!
Jesper as Everett C. Marm AKA the Harlequin, a clownish rebel. As Jesper is the best dancer in the troupe, it makes sense that he has the lead dance role. The style is best described as acrobatic street ballet.
Ingvar as the Ticktockman, the time-obsessed government agent and villain. Ingvar's eyesight gives him trouble dancing, so the Herons work in roles that let him use his acting skills/intimidating presence without too much movement. The Ticktockman moves in straight lines while the chorus dance around him.
Hal as Chorus / the Minee, the Ticktockman's assistant. To be honest, this is mostly a size thing. He practically orbits Ingvar.
Stefan as Chorus / Pretty Alice, the Harlequin's lover and betrayer. This is a nice hefty character role Stefan can get his acting teeth into. He may get a song.
Lydia as Chorus / Marshall Delahunty, the man who tries to escape the Ticktockman's reach. Come on, don't you want to see Lydia perform a desperate tumbling obstacle-course escape across the stage only to have a dramatic death scene at the end? She'd kill it.
Edvin as Chorus / Georgette Delahunty, Marshall's wife. Another nice character piece with plenty of room for face acting.
Wulf as Chorus / Raoul Mitgong. A walk-on comic role. He doesn't help much.
Ulf and Stig as the Chorus â along with the other Chorus-marked cast, playing Scientists, Minees, Workers, Coventry Guards etc. Ulf and Stig are good dancers but not the strongest actors in the crew. The chorus wear very basic costumes and switch characters quickly.
Thorn is their coach and AV tech, of course.
I may do some set/costume sketches later. I may talk to a choreographer and see if I could someday stage this later NOPE NOPE TOO MANY PROJECTS

How Technology Is Changing How We Treat business names for sale
1. Use aconyms
Utilizing a set of initials is a preferred method for calling your company. A great deal of primary companies utilize phrases instead of their total names-- it's much easier to bear in mind.
2. Create mash-ups
One of the very most creative techniques to produce fantastic organization name concepts is actually to make use of a mash-up. A title like "SaladGo" quickly illustrates that you are actually managing a restaurant that concentrates in salads-to-go ... all in only 3 syllables.
3. Pull inspiration from folklore as well as literature
Nike is actually one of one of the most famous brands and also in Greek mythology, she's the goddess of triumph. Various other popular companies like Oracle, HermĂŠs and also Mars possess mythical titles, also. If you are actually thinking about just how to name an organization making use of mythology, our company highly recommend performing some investigation to find if there is actually a mythological figure that is actually pertinent to your provider.
Maybe you operate a white wine store -exists one thing you can possibly do along with 'Bacchus' to call your brand name? Or even, allow's state you're getting all set to introduce a makeup label -maybe you can easily transport Aphrodite, the siren of beauty.
4. Use foreign terms
Another creative means to follow up with business label ideas is to incorporate a non-native language. This can easily create your company seem exotic as well as amazing, along with unforgettable for potential customers. Possibly it's a beauty parlor along with a French label or even a herbal tea outlet along with an Oriental one.
Usage acronyms, 2. Usage international terms
5. Use your own name
It's your service ... why certainly not combine your own title? Numerous well-known companies use the designer's name-- like Ben & Jerry's ice cream (named after BenCohen and Chamber Pot Greenfield), or Boeing (named after owner William Boeing).
6. Look at a chart
Acquire motivated due to the planet-- we're reckoning you've come across Amazon.com, the Net retail giant. It happens to be named after the biggest waterway on earth.
7. Mix factors up
Try mixing tips 5 and 6-- can you mix portion of your label with portion of an urban area, like IKEA creator Ingvar Kamprad? He combined his label with his neighborhood, Elmtaryd Agunnaryd.
8. Companion with an additional provider
Whether you are actually partnering with an additional entrepreneur or even combining with one more firm, combination pieces coming from both titles to generate a brand-new one. When Twentieth Century Photo as well as Fox Film Firm combined, they just came to be 20th Century Fox.
Graphic of organization cards: 5. Use your own title, 6.
9. Take advantage of labels.
Possess you gone through 'Ali' your whole life? Use this as your provider's name for an individual contact. Or even, use your kid's label or label for a nostalgic (and impactful) brand. Besides, Mercedes was called after the founder's child.
10. Use an icon.
One more method to find upwith a business label is to attract inspiration from an icon or essential factor of your work. A title like Naturol corresponds your business as well as is easy to don't forget. (Small company win-win!).
11. Make it definitive.
When you business names for sale assume concerning your company, whatare words that define it ideal? Jot down every one of your alternatives, and also picture how these phrases can easily match your brand-new logo design or even advertisement. Take into consideration 7-Eleven: the label immediately informs you what's exclusive regarding their organization (they level from 7AM-11PM every day).
12. Make use of latin.
Maybe you assumed Latin class in school was a rubbish of time ... however what happens if you could utilize your learnings to craft a title for your business? This language is a great source for service title tips, like Volvo (" I roll") and also Acer (" sharp," "capable"). Decide on a phrase in Latin that represents your company, like Luxus for a luxury retail company or Sanus for a health-food establishment.
Make use of a symbolic representation, 11. Usage latin.
13. Examine your item from another slant.
If it tells you of just about anything else, take an action back coming from your product and find. Maybe you're starting a cosmetics provider, and also notification that your make-up palettes resemble blossoms. Why not utilize that in the brand name?
14. Abbreviate.

The Rosscars 2020
Wow. Itâs that time of year again, only this time itâs different because itâs on a blog that no one will read! (hold for applause) Welcome to the first annual online publication for the Rosscars (hold for applause while the reader acknowledges how positively droll it is that I combined my name with âOscarsâ). Who can forget such indelible Rosscar memories like when Steven Soderbergh surprised us all and won Best Director for Out of Sight or Bill Irwinâs beautiful speech upon winning Best Supporting Actor for Rachel Getting Married?! The Rosscars mean something different to everyone, but we all know that they mean quality choices made by a committee of one schmuck. This yearâs Rosscars are bizarre because in an effort to be more like the Academy guidelines, filmâs nominated have been released between January 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021. As usual, theatrical windows be damned, streamers are welcome. Of course, I have my gripes. I like categorizing movies by release year â specifically, when they become available to the plain old public like yours truly â not at festivals, limited runs in NYC and LA. Well, the Oscars are still weeks away and I feel like everybody wants to forget about last year and move onto this one that weâre already three months into - So here are my awards for the films, performers, and craftspeople that stood out in a pretty exceptional year for movies even though distribution was stranger than ever.Â
**A few caveats and guidelines to Rosscar newcomers (which I imagine is just a formality since we all know the Rosscars so well)**
The rules and categories are a little different around here. First, not every category is honored directly. Thatâs for a few reasons, chiefly that I donât feel qualified to reward the technical categories properly â I suppose I should say that I feel less qualified to do so than the âabove the lineâ categories. In keeping with the Academy standard, there are five nominees in each category, except for Best Picture, Best Non-Fiction/Documentary Feature, and Best Ensemble Cast which allow up to ten. Every category, save those three, will have the possibility of honorable mentions, because I want to highlight some things that just barely missed the cut. The narrowing down of a lot of these categories was awfully tough.
Nominees are listed alphabetically, and the winners are in bold and italics.

Also, itâs important to keep in mind that I couldnât see everything (this isnât a job and itâs still $20 to rent The Father, yâall) and that these are just the opinions of one (self-described) âbozo on the internet.â If youâre a reader and have different picks, feel free to share!
Special Commendations for some things that I want to recognize: ⢠Ludwig Goransson for his Tenet score which is an absolute banger ⢠The costumes of Emma. (Alexandra Byrne), Ma Raineyâs Black Bottom (Ann Roth), and Small Axe (Jaqueline Durran, SinĂŠad Kidao, and Lisa Duncan) all struck me as exceptional ⢠Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with their scores for both Soul and Mank. Crazy that Pixar is working with the guy who made âCloserâ ⢠The cinematography of Da 5 Bloods (Newton Thomas Sigel), First Cow (Christopher Blauvelt), Beanpole (Kseniya Sereda), and A White, White Day (Maria von Hausswolff)
The Rosscars red carpet was, as usual, a bizarre affair. People filed into the theater and it seemed like the only encounters were awkward ones. Vin Diesel showed up in character as Bloodshot, Aaron Sorkin started getting really verbose about what a lovely night it was, and it became clear that most of the celebrities in attendance didnât read their invitations closely enough to realize that this was not, in fact, the Academy Awards.
Everyoneâs seated, and the show is under way. After a medley about the nominees this year by Common and Seth McFarlane that was more corny but clever than it was funny, the first official category is here, and the presenter is none other than... Ross!

Best Supporting Actor:
1. Chadwick Boseman for Da 5 Bloods
2. Matthew Macfadyen for The Assistant
3. Jesse Plemmons for Judas and the Black Messiah
4. Paul Raci for Sound of Metal
5. Glynn Turman for Ma Raineyâs Black Bottom
Honorable Mentions:
⢠Lucas Hedges for Let Them All Talk
⢠Orion Lee for First Cow
⢠Bill Murray for On the Rocks

Best Supporting Actress:
1. Vanessa Bayer for Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar
2. Candice Bergen for Let Them All Talk
3. Gina Rodriguez for Kajillionaire
4. Amanda Seyfried for Mank
5. Yuon Yuh-jung for Minari
Honorable Mentions:
⢠Jane Adams for She Dies Tomorrow
⢠Charin Alvarez for Saint Frances
⢠Talia Ryder for Never Rarely Sometimes Always
⢠Debra Winger for Kajillionaire

Everyone loves a montage. The audience gets comfortable in their seats as the video screens start to show a montage of some of the most famous moments from Hollywoodâs most magical movies. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers waltz, gliding across a dance floor like two hovering angels. Thereâs a clip of Leo declaring himself king of the world in Titanic, the flying bicycles in ET, Bogart stares longingly into Bacallâs eyes, and then thereâs some scene where Tom Cruise rides a motorcycle from 2010â˛s Knight and Day. The audience all seems confused how that last one got in there. The John Williams music swells as little Kevin McAllister screams when puts on aftershave. We see clips of Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver, Carrie Fisherâs Princess Leia embrace Harrison Fordâs Han Solo, Bruce Lee smoothly declares that boards donât hit back and... wait... was that a clip from Michel Gondryâs Green Hornet with Seth Rogen? And thatâs a clip from What Happens in Vegas... Bad Teacher... Vanilla Sky... Shrek 2... Any Given Sunday... Everyone is flummoxed. The last clip fades out and a sole editing credit appears: Cameron Diaz. The lights come up and thereâs some applause, but mostly confused murmurs.Â
The ceremony has had a bit of a misstep, but nothing it canât recover from, especially as the next category is announced over the PA, and it looks like the presenter is... Ross!
Best Ensemble Cast:
1. Bacurau
2. Da 5 BloodsÂ
3. Kajillionaire
4. Let Them All Talk
5. Ma Raineyâs Black Bottom
6. Minari
7. Nomadland
8. Pieces of a Woman
9. Small Axe

Best Original Screenplay:
1. Danny Bilson and Paul Dameo & Spike Lee and Kevin Wilmott for Da 5 Bloods
2. Lee Isaac Chung for Minari
3. Brandon Cronenberg for Possessor
4. Sean Durkin for The Nest
5. Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles for Bacurau
Honorable Mentions â a very difficult task to weed this down to five.
⢠Shaka King and Will Berson for Judas and the Black Messiah, from a story by Kenny and Keith Lucas
⢠Steve McQueen, Alastair Siddons, and Courttia Newland for Small Axe
⢠Kelly O'Sullivan for Saint Frances
⢠Thomas Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm for Another Round

Best Actor:
1. Ben Affleck for The Way Back
2. Chadwick Boseman for Ma Raineyâs Black Bottom
3. Delroy Lindo for Da 5 Bloods
4. John Magaro for First Cow
5. Mads Mikkelsen for Another Round
Honorable Mentions:
⢠Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal
⢠John Boyega for Small Axe
⢠Daniel Kaluuya for Judas and the Black Messiah
⢠Hugh Jackman for Bad Education
⢠Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson for A White, White Day

We have a break in the action and it looks like Darius Rucker has showed up to perform what he would have nominated for Best Original Song. The crowd is absolutely furious as he starts playing a song that apparently was in Trial of the Chicago Seven. An ocean of sonorous boos and curses overtakes the the once docile crowd. The Rock just ripped his chair from out of the ground. Jane Lynch somehow smuggled in a civil war era flintlock pistol that sheâs now pointing at the stage! Suddenly, the crowd unifies around what started as a confident chant of one lone audience member - John C Reilly. Itâs growing... Ja Ja Ding Dong, Ja Ja Ding Dong, Ja Ja Ding Dong - itâs like the macabre circus performers from Tod Browningâs Freaks, but instead of chanting âGooble Gobbleâ theyâre clearly pining for Darius to change his tune to the silly and delightful jam from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Darius, scared for his life, leaves the stage, but here come Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams to deliver the goods. Busy Philips and Michelle Williams burst into tears. Tom Hanks nods in approval. A segment saved by brave artists placating a toxic group of fans... weâve just witnessed a live version of the Snyder Cut, folks.
Jack Nicholson seems completely unfazed, giving a thumbs up to the camera and blowing a kiss to the next presenter. Coming to the stage is... Ross... again...
Best Actress:
1. Jessie Buckley for iâm thinking of ending things
2. Carrie Coon for The Nest
3. Han Ye-ri for Minari
4. Sidney Flanagan for Never Rarely Sometimes Always
5. Vasilisa Perelygina for Beanpole
Honorable Mentions â these cuts were especially painful
⢠Haley Bennet for Swallow
⢠Morfydd Clark for Saint Maud
⢠Frances McDormand for Nomadland
⢠Christin Milioti for Palm Springs
⢠Geraldine Viswanathan for Bad Education

Best Adapted Screenplay:
1. Charlie Kaufman for i'm thinking of ending things from Iain Reed's novel
2. Sarah Gubbins for Shirley from Susan Scarf Merrell's novel
3. Kelly Reichardt and John Raymond for First Cow
4. Simon Rich for American Pickle from his short story "Sell Out"
5. Mike Makowsky for Bad Education from Robert Kolker's "The Bad Superintendent"

Best Non-Fiction/Documentary Feature:
1. Boys State
2. Collective
3. David Byrneâs American Utopia
4. Dick Johnson is Dead
5. Feels Good Man
6. In & Of Itself
7. The Painter and the Thief
8. Time

Jimmy Fallon has come out on stage to do a bit about the pandemic and watching movies at home. People are just absolutely not having it. He tries not to laugh at his own jokes while doing what I guess is technically a pretty good impression of Dr. Fauci interviewing James Corden as Martin Scorsese (the less said of this impression, the better) on what is or isnât cinema. The bit doesnât track and Fallon is absolutely tanking. The producers cut away from the stage to spare the viewers at home from this monstrosity. We see crowd shots of Millie Bobby Brown shaking her head in dismay, Colin Firth is simultaneously grimacing and trying to stave off laughter, Cynthia Erivo is texting, and director Tom Hooper is taking notes for his next film. Corden yells, âCarpool Karaoke! Remember?!â Ron Howard has fainted. This thing is almost completely off the rails.
Coming back to the stage is the next presenter, a clearly embarrassed... Ross! Heâs in a total flop sweat, but stumbles his way through a joke about how Fallon should try co-hosting the Oscars with James Franco sometime. There are scant chuckles throughout a crowd that mostly just wants to see who won and go home.
Best Director:
1. Christopher Nolan for Tenet
2. Spike Lee for Da 5 Bloods
3. Steve McQueen for Small Axe
4. Kelly Reichardt for First Cow
5. ChloĂŠ Zhao for Nomadland
Honorable Mentions:
⢠Kitty Green for The Assistant
⢠Eliza Hittman for Never Rarely Sometimes Always
⢠Charlie Kaufman for i'm thinking of ending things
⢠Thomas Vinterberg for Another Round

Best Picture
1. Bacurau
2. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar
3. Da 5 Bloods
4. First Cow
5. i'm thinking of ending things

Accepting the award for best picture is none other than Eve, the cow actor who played the titular First Cow! The audience is enamored with how graceful she looks in her cow gown, and her speech, though indecipherable, is likely simple, observational, and deeply profound for those who speak cow.
Wow, what a ceremony! Hearts were broken, property was damaged, dreams were fulfilled... blood was shed? Damn it, Meryl Streep came in and mugged Charlie Kaufman before absconding with the trophy. Oddly, sheâs a previous winner, so the attack isnât out of need for hardware. People are reading through articles about production on Adaptation for potential motives. Streep made time for a photo opportunity, but remains at large.
I could go on ad infinitum about all of these nominees and winners themselves and why they did or didnât make the cut, but thatâd be better served in a different piece. For now, my thoughts on most of these can be found on the Best of 2020 write-up and over on my Letterboxd. And, as always, these awards can be revoked and redistributed at will, so donât get too cozy with that statue, Danny Bilson!
On behalf of the RAOGL (Rosscars Association of One Guy at a Laptop), thanks for reading, and stay tuned as weâre establishing a tip line for anyone has seen Ms. Streep or her stolen valor Rosscar. Weâll see you next year. Keep watching movies, and keep arbitrarily quantifying them in terms of subjective quality!
