"Lieutenant, I don't know about you but I think I could use a vat of coffee after that," Xander admitted though he could probably use something stronger. They had responded to a building fire that seemed to have been started by a couple of teens trying to cook without their parents home. Luckily they had managed to keep the fire contained but between evacuating everyone and the teens who had started the fire running away from them, it had felt like herding cattle all morning and it had only been their second real call of the day.

Xander took off his helmet as he worked on getting everything loaded back onto the truck as folks were slowly being let back in. "You mind if we make a pit stop at the Ceramic Cup on the way back to the station? My treat. If this was any indication, I kind of think we have a weird day ahead of us."

"well, that was... fun," alfie said with a maniacal chuckle, wiping blood from his knuckles. most cambridge students looked forward to the albert hall formal, but alfie carmichael was not one of them. his black tie felt like a noose around his neck, even as he loosened it. the moment xander presented the idea to him, alfie had a sinking feeling in the pit of his belly. he just knew that something bad was going to happen — and look, he'd been right. maybe now xander would realize that he knew what he was talking about! "look, i'm sorry if that... scared you," he sighed. his hands ached, and his white button down was soaked with alcohol. "and i get it if you're upset — i probably just confirmed every rumor you've ever heard about me, b-but... i refuse to let anyone jerk you around in front of me. that guy was a prick, but... yeah. i'll apply for a room transfer first thing in the morning, and i'll find somewhere else to stay for the night."

Xander usually spent his day off getting to all of his errands. Laundry, cleaning the house, calling his siblings to let them know he was still alive and okay. But he had been up since earlier than expected and had checked off his list pretty quickly. And he knew Devin was probably at home working so he figured he could swing by and hopefully get his friend to enjoy the day with him. His sister had encourage him to try to do it more often. To let his friends know he liked spending time with them so he made a quick stop and by the time he was standing at Devin's door, he was holding up a six pack of diet cokes and large cup of ice from the gas station. He was smiling when Devin opened the door. "I came to bribe you to come take a drive with me."

While she & Xander weren't the best of friends, they have been friendly enough to warrant a friendly, relieved smile pulling her lips at the sight of the Gaean merchant.

"A friendly face, I should count my blessings" Xue spoke, approaching the merchant. Majority of her blessing had already run out when the word of her being a lightsinger had reached the ears she did not want reaching. "So, I guess we've left the Dusk court only to swap it for Summer. I don't know about you, but I liked the last one better. The heat is unbearable in here & now it'll trap us for heavens know how long."
