Location: Outside of Devin's Place Starter for @wcirdo
Xander usually spent his day off getting to all of his errands. Laundry, cleaning the house, calling his siblings to let them know he was still alive and okay. But he had been up since earlier than expected and had checked off his list pretty quickly. And he knew Devin was probably at home working so he figured he could swing by and hopefully get his friend to enjoy the day with him. His sister had encourage him to try to do it more often. To let his friends know he liked spending time with them so he made a quick stop and by the time he was standing at Devin's door, he was holding up a six pack of diet cokes and large cup of ice from the gas station. He was smiling when Devin opened the door. "I came to bribe you to come take a drive with me."

So maybe Sky was one, two, even three drinks past what would have been a sensible limit for him. It wasn't exactly stopping him from giving the bartender looks of avid adoration. If anything, his dreamy smile and slowly batting eyelashes were only increasing in intensity with each sip, as he leaned on his elbows, head tilting to one side in what his addled mind likely thought of as being in a coquettish and attractive way, but in reality was giving more silly drunk fool. "Has anyone ever told you you're so pretty? Like," he pondered for a moment, evidently struggling to find good similes, "the prettiest painting ever. Or- the prettiest tree ever. Or- um. A really pretty hedge."

Closed starter for Rooney Caldwell @wcirdo
Located in the Caldwell family home
Romeo wasn't sure if it had been a good idea or a bad idea to agree to a family dinner after such a long shift at work, and after such a strange morning. On one hand, his mind had been so busy throughout the day that it couldn't possibly have the capability to overthink his dynamic with his parents, and the fact that he was back in Cardinal Hill, and the way that he couldn't shake the odd feeling of dread that he felt, but on the other hand, Romeo was always more sensitive when he was tired - and boy was he tired after such a restless, nightmare filled sleep. All he could do was cross his fingers and hope that no undesirable comments were pointed in his direction; it's not like he was unaccustomed to nightmares, fatigue, and unpleasant feelings, after all.
Stepping through the front door, he was tense, though the immediate sight of his twin helped subside the uneasiness ever so slightly. "Hey Roo," they were a sight for sore eyes, even if their relationships had its own complexities. The safest Romeo had ever felt was by their side, and while that could have been commentary on either his relationship with Rooney or his lack of other healthy dynamics, it was something that Romeo held onto tightly in any moments of need. Before he could say another word, the jarring and uncomfortable high pitched squawks belonging to none other than Quinine echoed through from another room. "Typical; he could at least use his words," Romeo commented, though in hindsight, Romeo should have been glad that the parrot wasn't pulling out any of his typical comments that so often embarrassingly hurt his feelings.

❁ Location: The Ceramic Cup ❁ Closed Starter for @wcirdo ❁ Muses: Lori & Nell
It had been an appointment-heavy day for Eleanor, and she desperately needed caffeine. Her last session was in two hours, so she had just enough time to stop by The Ceramic Cup. Walking into the cafe, the smell of freshly-baked goods and ground-up coffee beans filled the air, allowing her to take in the smell and relax her tight jaw. When she got to the counter, her brows furrowed, surprised to see Lori working the register. She must work a few jobs thought Nell before she gave the other a soft smile.
"You must be really busy for me to see you at both places of employment all in the same week." She laughed before leaning against the counter. "Can I get a black coffee and a brownie? I think the combo of chocolate and caffeine will do the trick of waking me up again."

For: @wcirdo (Rooney) Character: Chandresh Location: Riverside Books
The bell above the door chimed softly as Chandresh stepped into the cozy, comfortably lit bookstore. Shelves stretched up to the ceiling, crammed with worn tomes and leather-bound volumes, mixing in with modern works. Chandresh had always loved bookstores more than libraries, for there was always the chance that he could go home with new treasures to add to his shelves. He had gone to the bookstore weekly since he moved to Cardinal Hill two years ago. It was the place he liked to haunt despite the expansive library he worked by.
"I am here with a purpose today," Chandresh explained as his greeting to the younger bookseller. He held up a sheet of paper that he had written down the names of the books he was looking for. (Whispers of the Veil: Folklore of the In-Between, The Sevenfold Stars: Mythologies of the Night Sky, Elderwood Tales: Fables of the Forgotten Forests and The Mirror’s Edge: Myths of Reflection and Illusion). "My students in my introductory class continue to try and pick myths and stories that they are used to - that they've heard before, and no matter how much I try to tell them that there are other stories worth learning -- I believe they think that they are allergic to libraries."
He moved deeper into the store, the wooden floorboards creaking softly under his boots. As he approached the counter, his gaze found Rooney. He smiled faintly, adjusting the strap of his messenger bag, hoping he hadn’t startled them. "They're all a bit specific - but -- I thought if anywhere had them, you would."

with: rooney caldwell ( @wcirdo ) where: riverside bookstore, early afternoon
beau had always been a bookworm, and as he'd gotten older he hadn't grown out of it. he was a regular at the library and town bookstores, but riverside had to be his favourite. he didn't know if it was magically imbued to do so, but it had such an inviting smell of books and warm, cosy atmosphere.
he was there to check on an order, a cookbook written by a friend from salem, massachusetts, which combined homemade meals with wild, foraged plants and mushrooms. he had hoped to chat with vincente, but he wasn't working today, so instead, he sought out rooney. the caldwell's were family friends with the proctor's, and beau liked getting the chance to chat with either of the caldwell twins.
"good afternoon, caldwell." he greeted them with a smile, coming up to the counter, and unwrapping the scarf from around his neck. "fancy seeing you here."

Location: Cardinal Hill Library
Well. You had to start over somewhere. At least, that's what Felix told himself as he sat hunched over some old book on witchcraft and magic. His fingers drummed against the table as he scanned the pages, looking for anything interesting, really. In the months following his breakup, Felix hadn't touched a singular magical object, or cast a spell (save for those surges of energy).
"I just can't believe you would hide something like this from me. How could I ever trust you?" They had said, tears falling down their face as Felix tried to reach out in comfort. After that moment, Felix felt that he was long overdue for a break from witchcraft. You can't keep the witch out of the witchcraft for long, though, and that familiar restlessness had began to bottle up inside him.
He thought about asking some of the other witches in town if they ever felt anything similar, but ultimately decided against it. He didn't want to get into why he was asking, which would lead to more questions, and then someone might bring them up. No, this was a task clearly meant for him, and him alone.
Being alone and reading for long period of times was not Felix's strong suit (even though he did like to read), and it took about twenty minutes before he decided he was dying of boredom and needed to do something else. I can always just... check these out and read them at home. Got the company of the cats there, anyways. With that thought, he stood up and began walking toward the circulation desk. As he walked, he glanced down at those he passed, looking at what everyone else was researching.
He found himself pausing, though, when he came across someone drawing. He lingered behind them for about five seconds before puling the chair beside them, putting his books down, and propping his arm on the table.
"Now that," he started, pointing to the pages, "Is some fine art. Have you been drawing for a long time? That picture is quite good. Is it fantasy? I tend to draw high fantasy myself, think... The Lord of the Rings. Or DND. I just love it. Oh, yes, I'm Felix, by the way."

@wcirdo (lori)
"That's going to be sweet," DJ murmured this to himself, pushing through the door as he paid more attention to the magazine in his hand than where he was walking. Because of this, he skirted right into someone else's path and only stopped just shy of walking straight into them, because he managed to catch sight of their legs first.
"Oops, my bad," the young man apologized, lowering the magazine. Then wishing he hadn't. DJ made a face before he could help himself, after seeing that it was Lori. Oh god, not her.
He stood there, transferring weight from one foot to the other, awkwardly. "Uh, hey," DJ managed then, politely enough, as he rolled up the magazine and cleared his throat. Looking away from the woman his mother had been dating once upon a time. "Fancy seeing you and all." It was the nicest thing he could come up with, without completely blowing her off or actually asking how she was doing. He didn't want to be rude, but he also didn't care how she was, either. This was the woman who helped kind of screw up his parents' marriage (he did too, but that's besides the point), so she wasn't exactly his favorite person. He didn't know what to think of her.
#lori & dj#;; peter pan that's what they call me i am a lost boy from neverland you are my perfect storybook 🔭

Six am, a time where most functional people were either waking up or sound asleep. Not Dylan, though. Instead he was traipsing along the path of the park at a speed which could be beaten by a particularly tired snail, each step making it clear that he was annoyed to be walking - an annoyance which only increased as he had to stop dead in his tracks, almost colliding head first into a runner coming from the opposite direction. "Hey, the fuck you even running from? A bear?"

Here’s a closed starter for Loretta 'Lori' White | @wcirdo Afternoon at RollerBlaze
“Lori, hi!” she greets the other with a smile. “I doubt you would be able to hear it in this atmosphere, but my right skate has been making a squeaky noise.” Unable to ascertain why, she brought her skates to someone she considers a whizz with skates. Sometimes she would come to RollerBlaze but she mainly skated outside. There’s nothing better than feeling the wind blowing through her curls and the freedom of the open road. The only concern was traffic, but she usually headed to park in the event that she encountered that problem.
“Do you think you can help me?” Onyx asks as she opens the bag to produce her roller skates.

Location: Breaking Glass Bar Starter for @wcirdo
Since being in town, Shawn felt like he had done well in avoiding the bars. It was hard though, even harder when the person he was sponsoring at the moment was hell bent on not sticking to the program. He had been there before, hell he was surprised they had even let him become a sponsor considering he was barely a year sober but they were in need of sponsors so he had stepped up. And boy was he regretting it now as he stood outside of the bar. There were already people stumbling out and the smell of alcohol was like a siren call. But he had a mission, to get the person he was sponsoring out of there and home safely. It was why they had called him from the bar after all.
Of course when he stepped inside he couldn't find the person he was looking for so he made his way towards the bar, trying not to inhale too deeply. "Hey man, you uh seen a guy who just used your phone? Short, like I don't know brown hair, brown eyes, God that's probably a lot of people." He shook his head, running his fingers through his hair as he looked around. "He called me saying he needed me to get him out of here but I can't find him. Sorry, I'll buy a cranberry and seltzer or I don't know, shirley temple, anything without alcohol."

Aviva might have envied artists even more than she envied writers, so Devin being the former absolutely captured her interest, and left her feeling impressed. "That's really neat," she told him, an enthralled smile on her face. "I always wished I could draw, never really had the talent for it, though," she told him, mostly just making conversation now - something that Aviva did more often than not. "I'm not too shabby when it comes to making up ideas or stories or whatever, but the execution just isn't something I've ever nailed, you know?" She continued. "What kind of artist are you?" She questioned, not practiced herself, but still knowledgable enough to know that it wasn't as simple as all artists being ones who drew. "Oh, you sure?" She double checked the offer on keeping the Sharpie, an offer that she admittedly didn't want to refuse due to how handy they were to have around - particularly in the presence of such a problematic washing machine.
"Oh, not quite. I'm an artist," he explained. Devin had only referred to the various pens, pencils, and markers he had on him at any given time as a writing tool because that's what their relevance was to her in the moment. Just because he preferred to use something like a Sharpie to sketch out a quick goblin or fantastical vial didn't lessen it's most common use. "You're welcome," Devin said. He was just glad he could be helpful and hopefully prevent another washing machine mishap in the future. "Oh, you can keep it," Devin said. "I've got a million of them," he went on and he really did. Even though he didn't often work with Sharpie in a serious capacity he still seemed to acquire them in bulk and one was never far from him. He was sure if he searched a little deeper in his neverending backpack he'd probably be able to find another one of those markers on his person. It sounded like it would get more use with her and he didn't mind sacrificing it to the greater good.

❁ Location; RollerBlaze ❁ Open Starter for @wcirdo ❁ Muses; Lori & Nell
Roller rinks were a place she loved back in Bristol, so once she heard Cardinal Hill was renovating theirs, Nell jumped at the chance to visit. With sessions being back to back, it took her a few weeks to actually go, but once she entered the building, it felt like a warm hug. Most people didn't enjoy the smell of a roller rink, sweat mixed with fries, and that little amount of burnt rubber from the rollerblades, but it comforted her.
Walking up to the counter with a grin, she saw Lori behind the counter, organizing the returns by size. It felt rude to interrupt the other as she was in deep thought, so Eleanor decided to lean against the table and wait. Her eyes wandered around the building to take it all in. The way everyone was laughing and holding hands, doing their best to stay upright, made it feel as if she was where she was meant to be.
It wasn't until Lori turned around that Nell realized she was now staring at them, with flushed cheeks, she looked down at her hands. "Sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I'm just really excited to be here." Taking a deep breath, she then met the others' eyes with a soft smile. "I'm sure you get more kids who have this type of excitement towards a roller rink."

For: @wcirdo (Zion) Character: Mags Harper Location: The Ceramic Cup
Mags pushed open the door to the cozy coffee shop, a faint bell chiming as she entered. The familiar scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, mingling with the sweetness of pastries. She stepped inside, fatigue pulling at her limbs and clouding her thoughts. It had been a long week at the florist shop, with deliveries piling up and the pressure to keep everything blooming weighing heavily on her.
Her leg throbbed slightly as she shifted her weight, and she felt a wave of uncertainty wash over her. She wasn’t used to asking for help. In her fifteen years in Cardinal Hill, she had never made deep friendships, always keeping others at arm's length. But something about Zion that made her hesitate. Maybe she could ask for help.
Mags had seen him around town, but they’d never spoken much beyond polite nods (her) and smiles (him). Would it be awkward? She glanced at him as he poured coffee for a customer, the way he moved behind the counter. It would be easier to turn around and head back home.
Taking a deep breath, she approached the counter, her heart racing. She caught his eye and waved.
“Can I get a coffee?” she signed, feeling a mix of anxiety and determination. "A big one. Big enough to keep me going for the next few hours." Nope - nope she couldn't ask for help. Big fail.

Elle hadn't missed New York since leaving, but something else could be said for the food. Not that Washington hadn't given her new dishes to enjoy, still, nothing had quite hit like a New York hot dog or the BEC from her favorite bodega. She stared at the menu for the Ceramic Cup, attempting to find something that would satisfy her craving for what she couldn't have. It was someone else ordering that caught their attention and whipped their head to see who had asked for such a BEC the way any New Yorker would. Maybe it was the curls or the demeanor but she couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity. "Do I know you from somewhere?" A blunt question to ask, but they had no fear of being looked at oddly if they were incorrect. "Didn't you go to that bodega down the way from Third Ave? Or maybe it was the hot dog cart off Bleekman," she thought out loud while squinting at the familiar stranger.
