Day 39: Favourite red flag character?

Ming from My Stand In

Somehow I doubt this comes as a surprise to anyone. It’s Ming of course. My poor maladjusted little rich boy and his big feelings and inability to process them like your average human being. I never truly understand the fandoms love for Vegas until Ming came along. Now I understand and I’m not mad about it. I love him with every fibre of my being and I don’t see that ever changing.

I love Ming’s character development. I love that at times it is frustratingly slow and never quite gets off the ground for a large portion of the series. I love that even once it does gets off the ground that it’s a process that he has to go through and that he will go through it at him own pace, everyone else (except Joe) be damned. It’s a growth that is clearly still developing into the finale and after it. The Ming that exists at the end of the series is miles better than the one that existed at the beginning of the series, but he still had a long way (and a lot of therapy) to go before he can truely call him well adjusted. Still he is willing to do all of it for Joe.

Ming is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants and what he wants is Joe. Full stop, no exceptions. By the end of the series, Joe is willing to give him that because Joe knows that as much of a red flag as Ming is, he is a Joe’s red flag all the same and I fucking love every goddamn second of it.

Ming covers himself in red throughout the series but is completely willing to go for a more pinkish off red at the end of the series because he knows it’s what Joe wants.

Ming and Joe are the definition of “I can make him better. I can make him worse” because each of them makes the other better and worse.

Ming is a red flag if ever there was one, and I’m going to be writing how much I love him on the walls, with red ink, for a long time to come.

Day 48: If you could switch a BL actor pairing to a different production company, who would you move and to which production company?

So I had so many ideas for this but I managed to narrow it down to a few different choices but I have one that ended up being perhaps not my first choice but the choice that made me to “ohhhhh!!!!” and figuratively point at it.

James Hayward Prescott to MeMindY

I recently bought and started reading, Love Sand which is Khom and Connor’s story. Khom had been featured in both TharnType and Love Sea with Connor being mentioned in both in some way (a one off mention in TharnType and being an unseen but featured character in Love Sea) and if Mame does actually plan to adapt Love Sand, I think James is a really good choice to play him. So I’m manifesting that he’ll play Connor if Mame decides to do Love Sand. Plus I think it would be fun to see James with blond hair.

Dew and Tor to IdolFactory

Dew has technically already worked with Idolfactory playing more minor characters but I would love to see him return to Idolfactory and to hopefully bring Tor with him. Tor was not treated well by Y Entertainment (no one was but yeah) and I think he might benefit from being able to work with Saint who had has similar experiences to him. Plus I think it would be good for Idolfactory as well as then they would have a more even couple count with 2 BL and 2 GL couples. I think TackPoom may come back together when Tack is finished filming the celebrity boxing show that he is a part of but if that does not happen, I think Dew and Tor would be a good choice. Especially if Saint is not planning to make him return to BL acting permanent.

Lastly

Li Le and Wang Yun Kai to Vidol BL series project.

VBL has produced quite a few Taiwanese BLs that I have enjoyed lately and I would love to see Li Le and Wang Yun Kai work with them. I’m not sure exactly how that would work as they are Mainland China actors while VBL is in Taiwan but if such a thing is possible I would love to see it. Plus I would love to see them work with Nancy Chen again. Something set in the modern era would be fun I think. (Maybe another series featuring the Ever androids).

Day 47: Favourite Confession Scene

*stares into the camera like I’m in The Office* there can be only one choice.

The journal confession scene between Prapai and Sky from Love In The Air. I have an…unhealthy obsession totally normal relationship with this scene.

While it wasn’t very well of Pai to break into Sky room, it continues his trend of knowing Sky better than Sky thinks he does. He knows that Sky is holding back, perhaps not exactly how much he’s holding back but Pai knows he is. Pai knows he needs a way to get Sky to admit how he feels, one way or another. This becomes especially true when Sky begins to pull away after misunderstanding an interaction between Pai and another guy (which realistically Pai is at least a little at fault for but that’s for another day). So Pai makes the kind of awful but seemingly necessary decision to find out the answers on his own since he refuses to allow his and Sky’s budding relationship to end the way Sky seem determined to make it end. Then he finds the journal, and he reads it. Then he reads it out loud to Sky.

The journal is what Sky really thinks, true and unfiltered in a way Sky was only just beginning to be with Pai. He answers so many questions but leaves even more open. Pai gets a glimpse into how Sky thinks, how much Sky holds back both in his feelings about Pai and his feelings about himself. Sky is desperate to be loved and he thought he had found it in Pai, only for that interaction to happen. Sky convinces himself that break up their relationship/situationship is for the best rather than wait and hear or see something worse.

The journal I think also gives Pai the courage to truly ask Sky how he feels for the first time without being light hearted about it, because it’s what they both need. It gives him hope that he isn’t alone in his feelings of love. So he words how he feels carefully to let Sky know, he doesn’t just like him anymore, he loves him and he is really hoping Sky feelings the same way.

Pai has been the push factor in Sky’s life since he entered it and even now he will continue to push Sky into being true to himself, no matter what. It is exactly what Sky needs but is scared to want. With the journal’s help, Sky doesn’t have to he scared of it anymore. Prapai isn’t going anywhere. Instead he will continue to push Sky forward until Sky can do it himself again and then he will be happy to watch Sky becomes more and more himself.

Day 20: Which series do you wish had more episodes than it did or you wish had another season?

I would say Pit Babe but that is actually getting another season so I can’t, can I? Hahaha

I don’t know what they necessarily need a full second season but I would love an special episode of Cherry Magic Thailand where Karan and Achi get married

However my biggest want for a second season has to go to I Feel You Linger In The Air

I want more of Yai and Jom. I want more of Jom being happy and content. I WANT COMMANDER YAI!!!!

Part 2 of the novel was my favourite part of the novel and yet it was the one that didn’t get adapted into the show and while I understand why they didn’t include it, I am still sad about it. Since it’s been over a year since the show aired, it is very likely that the second season isn’t going to happen (despite pretty much everyone involve wanted to make it). I haven’t completely given up hope but alas I fear Commander Yai will remain a book only character. (His cameos in the series notwithstanding)
