My Game Awards thoughts
I'm not going to cover everything that happened but I am going to go over some news breaks, my thoughts on the ceremony as a whole, some announcements we got/ ones we didn't, and maybe some "entitled gamer rage" just cause I can.
results for the awards here
The Xbox Series X announcement was unexpected but it is a nice jab from Microsoft to get the idea of the console in the minds of people even if it's just the physical look alongside what I can only assume was supposed to display its power and graphic fidelity. The ball is in Sony's court, I can't wait to see what they come up with. I suspect E3 2020 will be when we get something similar to what Microsoft did but maybe even bigger since they've had the time to work on it by then. Â
Let's stay on Microsoft for a minute cause that Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 trailer was... a trip. If Microsoft keeps this up I'm definitely going to have a difficult choice to make come holiday 2020. The tone and visuals of the trailer as a whole are disturbing and gorgeous all at the same time. I was captivated the entire time and love the more psychological/mythological mesh they're really diving into. I literally had to go and watch it before I moved on to other topics while writing this.
That shark game Man Eater got another trailer, I am kind of surprised that hasn't come out yet. Not hyped or anything but I mean it does look like fun the way Untitled Goose Game does. Woooah here she comes (sorry couldn't help myself).
No More Heroes 3 coming out with the big weird trailer. Seriously I was so intrigued and caught off-guard. Touche Nintendo, every day you bring me closer to getting a Switch. Bastards.
GodFall a self-proclaimed "slasher-looter" action rpg by Gearbox Productions dropped a vague, but beautiful, cinematic teaser. It also subtly drops that it will come to PS5 and PC. This is the first mention/marketing for the PS5 at all, and it's through a short CGI trailer that tells us nothing. Weird.
Ghost of Tsushima got a great cinematic/ gameplay trailer that was teased at the State of Play event Sony just had. It was entertaining and gorgeous but I need more gameplay, still very interested.
Sons of the Forest This is interesting because it appears to be a very interesting step forward after The Forest's 2014 release. Definitely leaning into the blend of mysticism and body horror with the new trailer emphasizing on a sexually confusing four-legged woman and several fleshy faceless husks clearly intended to be enemies. I gotta try The Forest especially if this one fulfills the fantastical horror it advertises.
Control not only won Best Art Direction and was nominated for many more awards, but they also dropped new content. Bless. Expeditions are a new repeatable mission type that sends you into a Jukebox (if you've played it you'll bear with me here) where you can get new and high-grade mods as well as an outfit. This requires you to scavenge the world for the coins that get you into the...Jukebox...world place. The rewards seem meager, like what is going to keep me coming once I beat the highest tier and get the outfit? That said, it's a nice reason to pop Control back in and boy is it nice, even better with the patches that improve performance and finally let the game flow the way it's supposed to. I wish it was a little deeper and maybe there's more to it than we know now, but it's clear that this is supposed to hold players over until the first DLC drops. Not a complaint, more of a matter of fact.
Wolf Among Us 2 was announced...interesting... I guess they really are pushing that whole "TellTale is back" thing huh. We'll see, they can't afford to fuck that up. It's clear this is a tactical move to build hype and get people wanting that game they've been wanting since 2013. Why not come back with the one game you know anyone who cares about "TellTale" will, therefore, care about? Makes sense to me, don't fuck it up new guys.
Where the fuck was my Batman announcement? The Harry Potter rpg that we know is in development? BioMutant, where the hell is that game? There are so many games in development and some even close to release that really could use some shine on a stage like this. Since I'm out to prove a point: Last of Us 2? Marvel's Avengers? RE3? Dying Light 2? Vampire Masquerade 2? Watch Dogs Legion? Psychonauts 2? Moons of Madness? Digimon Survive? Since we're so focussed on turning back time (more on that later). OddWorld? Little Nightmares 2? I hope my disgustingly exacerbated point is made, we could've had so much more. One or two of any of those games would've made it way much better.
My point is if I'm Geoff Keighley and I'm ending one of the biggest broadcasted gaming-related events of the year and it ends with a FAST AND THE FURIOUS GAME? You bet your ass I'm taking however much Google paid for all those bullshit (though entertaining) Stadia commercials and I'm sweetening the pot for Sony, Activision, EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo, WB Montreal, Capcom, literally anyone for an exclusive news drop of some kind. I'm sure any of those studios could've been persuaded in the name of publicity and hype and could've met/exceeded the excitement levels for a Fast and the Furious game. Fucking pathetic, is this 2009? Did you see those graphics?
Also...Green Day...? Seriously did I wake up in 2009 and no one told me? You have CHVRCHES on stage, you're handing out awards to bands and composers, you have a full orchestra for more musical numbers than even I'd care for...and you thought Green Day should be the headliner. I understand it was more of a personal choice by Geoff since he's a big fan but fucking hell go to a show don't subject us to it.
All in all, this night was pretty underwhelming with some flashes of entertainment strewn throughout. Yes, you have huge moments like Microsoft announcing the Series X, but when those are followed by minutes of Stadia commercials, moments like "Teh ken" and "This is gaming it's supposed to be free. Free love," and the myriad of obscure and nothing announcements it really shows that there are just some demons this award show can't seem to shake. No, I don't expect full gameplay reveals and walkthroughs but there is a middle ground between twelve-second trailers for new IPs and full-on presentations.
Ikumi Nakamura was there so I'm gonna start demanding she appears at all Game awards/ presentations thank you very much.
edit: all this ranting bullshit and I never mention that in my opinion, I think DMC5 should've taken GOTY. I totally understand why Sekiro won because it's great. It's deep, beautiful, visceral, rewarding; but so is DMC5. What tipped the scale was how much fun I had playing DMC5 and no Sekiro isn't for conventional "fun" but I thoroughly enjoyed DMC more and that really is what it boils down to when everything else is so evenly matched.

The day trip
Randomly written something as the brief description of my visit to Gold coast in yesterday, my apologies if it sounds bad. After departed with his schoolmates, the teen got on the tram that carried him leaving Gold Coast, he took a short nap during the trip and woke up a few minutes before the tram arrived Helensvale.
Fortunately, that rest gave him some stamina that he urged hours ago. The power bank was giving the phone its last bits of power, and the tram horned abruptly as it attempted to warn something out of its way, caught the teen's attention for a moment.
The teen haunted by his own WIP was brainstorming while listening to music files that he downloaded for himself. Minutes later the tram arrived its destination and the teen disembarked, he walked to one platform to another, he was found waiting for the train that would bring him the journey across the capital cities of the Sunshine State again.
Despite the day trip was exhausting yet the teen did not regret about it at all even he basically slept barely and sustained with short nap and caffeine. Despite they didn't do much throughout the day, he somehow loosened the burden of the negativity that haunted him for years a bit. Despite it cost 27 AUD for each person, the teen found the skyline of Gold Coast somehow alleviated his mind, even the day trip was gloomy throughout the day. Despite the urge for a rest was huge, the teen insisted he would accompany the ladies for the strolling of the night market and their restocking in Woolworths, even he was just walking with them in the Supermarket.
Now the train has arrived. The teen embarked and got himself a seat. There were an aged man and a lady who both worn security uniforms that consisted of a cap, yet the teen focussed in his story and messaging with his another friend and paid no attention to their chatting. He switched the music into the Career Mode BGMs that came from the original Forza Motorsport and squatted his right feet to its counterpart.Â
The geezer just grabbed himself a piece of chocolate from his lock bag that filled with lollies. The music was already playing the fourth one out of the eighteen soundtracks. As the train arrived Ormeau, a lady passenger disembarked and the old man pressed the button in order to open the gate. They smiled at one another before the passenger left the train. The teen peeked the window, yet there was nothing but darkness outside of the window, except some places that illuminated by the street lamps.Â
The geezer sipped his canned coke that he grabbed from his pouch to hydrate himself for a bit, then he chatted again with his colleague. It was the eighth music files playing from the Bluetooth headphones, and the train arrived Beenleigh. The securities peeked the gate as it opens but it seemed nothing crucial was happening outside of it. The train continued its ride and the geezer picked up his smartphone and he seemed said something with it, possibly is he chatting with other colleagues?
The teen peeked the window again, yet it was so dark that not really worth to waste too many seconds to look at the scene, he recalled himself, how he was paying attention to it when he was en route from Brisbane, there were suburbs, farmlands, graveyards and churches… they might not be spectacular nor outstanding, but ordinary was what matter for those citizens out there, he knew. The teen looked and the geezer and he smiled to him, who greeted with his smile as well, that hopefully, gave one another some positivity from the dull train cabin. The teen scratched himself for a moment. The securities napped for a moment yet they were woken up by the train announcement that stated the train was skipping some stations between the stations between Loganlea and Altandi, the geezer said something to his female colleagues that made her giggled, yet the teen was not paying too much attention to it again, and he now noticed that the detached the headphones that led him skipped some files, he wore them again and hence, sinking himself to the music world. Despite the teen brought himself the history book yet he was way too exhausted now to read it with his concentration.
The security lady who carried a long ponytail that reached her back walked to the middle and chat with the geezer again, who was trying to repair the overhead hand grip, yet sadly he did not succeed, his colleagues grabbed the phone and helped him taking the photo of the broken grip, which hopefully, shall be repaired soon, they shifted the hand grips as the train went on, and they walked to the middle section, seemed to asking passengers some questions.Â
It was 2 hours before Queensland stepping into the next day and the phone played the last soundtrack of the classification. Not long after it played the first one again, and then the teen changed the music to the partial complication of Forza 3 OSTs right before the train arrived Altandi, there were some youngsters at the platform, and the teen had no clue what they were doing. The securities walked towards the gate section and seemly went to the next cabin in front of where the teen was sitting at. The train now passed Banoon without stopping and the teen yawned again, he tapped his smartphone for a minute, yet he yawned again after that.Â
The teen switched the music into a soundtrack originated from a game published by CAPCOM, and he napped again for minutes.Â
The train had arrived South Brisbane already, the timer rung and the teen woke up again. Noticed the next station is where to drop off the teen stood up from his seat and scratched again, then disembarked with tiredness by pressing the button of the train gate as the train arrived Roma Street station. With some minutes of stumbling around the station under the warming up status after the nap could the teen left the building, he walked across the cold and raining street with his onyx umbrella towards a bus stop next to the King George V busway station. He found himself a seat to kill the waiting time after checking the bus schedule.
Minutes later had the 412 bus arrived, and the teen queued with others and they started the trip from Roma Street of City Center to Saint Lucia (via University of Queensland en route) with respective destinations in mind. The bus galloped across the Coronation Drive in the raining, freezing night, and it stopped occasionally to pick up the passengers who wanted to join the ride.Â
Not long before the bus passed the Toowong station had the teen pressed the stop button that reminded the driver, and she stopped at the stop short later, and the teen gave her the regards before dropping off the bus. He opened his umbrella again and strolled towards the building where his accommodation is located. As he was about to enter the door he grabbed his wallet and unzipped the key card, and his acquaintances whom he met here pressed the button that opened the lobby gate for him, and he gave them the regards as well. He strolled towards the communal kitchen and took the thermos bottle out, in hope of grabbing himself some water, yet the water tapper seemed not functioning. Under the disappointment, the teen strolled toward the lift and waited. The exhaustion no longer held back and made him pressed toward one of the walls of the lift. His move when he was leaving the lift was not healthy nor stable as well.
The teen finally returned to his room, and he grabbed the leisure clothes immediately and got himself a bath. After that, the teen filled his mug with water. And he gulped it, for the sake for hydration as he had drunken nothing but bottled coffee throughout the day trip. Then he sat on the backwards-leaned chair, covering himself with quilt and a hugging pillow, having a short break as he was typing the personal short story on smartphone while listening to the live broadcast of a Hongkonger, and he fell asleep as he hasn’t done so properly for more than a day.

IIRC that is correct but I couldn’t remember the exact wording--hence why I said sapphic, as in WLW, instead of lesbian. All we know for sure is she’s into women, no word on whether she might be into any other gender as well.
As for this hidingoutbackstage person...they’re insisting on things that are literally canonically untrue.
Yes Wesker is a eugenicist and a kidnapper and killed huge numbers of people. I never said he was a good person. Not every bi person is a good person! I never said he was a queer icon I just said he’s been confirmed as, at the very least, having been played as not straight. If you think that queer people never hurt/traumatise people or commit crimes or do anything wrong...I don’t know what to tell you.
As for race...Wesker, Umbrella, and even Spencer are explicitly stated more than once not to discriminate based on race. Wesker’s an elitist. He’s a superhuman supremacist who looks down on humans. He’s a terrible person. But the games went OUT OF THEIR WAY to say he doesn’t care whether someone’s white, Black, Asian, etc. (You could maybe argue that a superhuman looking down on people who don’t have superpowers is some kind of fictionalised form of...ableism, I guess?? It’s not racism or even a good metaphor for racism because “undead mutants” isn’t at all analogous to an ethnicity.)
They’ve claimed that Wesker dyed Jill’s hair blonde when the files make it very clear that’s not what happened...that he “put her in an outfit that shows her cleavage” which it doesn’t do until it’s unzipped so you can remove the device (I still think that scene was very creepily done but it’s not WESKER being creepy it’s the devs being male-gaze-y) and is also covered by a cloak, hood and mask most of the time. Of course kidnapping and brainwashing someone is still a horrific thing to do. Wesker is a monster. He’s a villain. That’s the point. But I don’t think it’s in any way sexual or motivated by her race or gender.
And they act like Wesker was preying on Rebecca based on one easter egg photo. And that photo is actually perfectly SFW.
She is literally just sitting here. This is not a sexual image. This is an image of Rebecca at a basketball game because she’s part of the RPD basketball team. There’s no reason to make it any creepier than it has to be...there might just have been a photo of her at a basketball game that fell out of her file onto his desk because...well, she plays basketball, why WOULDN’T there be a photo in her file?
When Wesker interacts with Rebecca in the games he never behaves sexually towards her, simply seeing her as a member of STARS who he hardly knows and doesn’t give a lot of thought to because he’s more focussed on Chris. He hardly even looks at her. I really don’t think he’s attracted to her at all. If Capcom wanted to portray Wesker as a sexual predator, they’d make it far more obvious than that--look at how explicitly creepy Irons’s behaviour was. The writers of this series don’t shy away from showing how disgusting certain characters are and they’re not generally subtle about it.
Honestly though I don’t know why this person is reacting to my post as if me saying Wesker is bi is somehow...an endorsement of the murder, human experimentation, blackmail, kidnapping, etc he commits. Being bi doesn’t automatically make someone good or nice? I never said “Wesker’s a hero” or “Wesker did nothing wrong” I literally just said he’s queer, that’s not a moral defence, no-one’s saying you should be able to get away with murder if you’re queer enough!

WESKER???

Monster Hunter World Iceborne sales top 5 million worldwide • Eurogamer.net
Base game sales stand at 62 million units.
Monster Hunter World Iceborne has sold over five million units worldwide.
According to an update from developer/publisher Capcom (thanks, VGC), Iceborne – which is Monster Hunter World’s expansion that dropped in September for console and in January for PC – hit the milestone in just six months.
Sales for the base game itself stood at 62 million units at the end of last week.
“Capcom plans to carry out a number of initiatives to further cement the series’ position as a global brand, such as with a Hollywood film adaptation of Monster Hunter, a first for the series, scheduled for a September 2020 release,” the company said.
As Matt updated us last week, come April, Capcom’s post-launch development schedule aligns across all platforms. Until then, however, Iceborne’s staggered content drops continue and on 12th March, Iceborne finally arrived on PC.
Those wishing to challenge the Safi’jiiva (that’s the fully grown, and even crosser, form of the base game’s final boss) will need to accept the “??? Recon” assignment from the Pub Lass in the Gathering Hub. Crafting materials earned through repeated victory can be used to fashion new Safi’jiiva hunter and Palico equipment.
Additionally, the new collaboration-focussed Safi’jiiva Siege quest will be made available from midnight on Friday, 20th March, enabling players to obtain new Awakened weapons.

Hey if anyone is listening
With May coming up-- and consequentally, my Twenty-second birthday-- I've decided its time to push myself to get on my deal of creating. I'm going to get back to work on Media creation, and once I've got something concrete to work with I'll put up Patreon and whatnot. Now, my point. I've got a few worlds to start from, and a loose plan as to what I'm going to make as I get better at these things. For this purpose, I have a question: would any of you be particularly interested in one or more of these concepts? To give me a kicking-off point. +Saestra - A fantasy world akin to Capcom's Monster Hunter series and the world of Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles. Saestra showcases the youth of spreading civilization, and the collision course it shares with a Romanesque civilization roughly 100 years ahead of it. +Humanity and the Stars - modern science-fiction. A host for a human race on the cusp of space exploration, as it divides among socio-political lines before venturing into the cosmos. The base concept is something of a social commentary, and focusses on the children within very polarized factions; it asks "When you know you cannot turn back, what do you take with you?". +Grimmnoire - A subseries based in Roosterteeth's Remnant. A bit of a fan indulgence, it starts with the class two years above the cast of RWBY, and takes the events of the series in a wildly different direction. This concept is probably the most shallow, but what it has is quite fun, I promise. +Unloqe - A puzzle-ish theme also based in an advancing humanity, but much more contemporary. If you've got an opinion, or any other thoughts, let me know. If not, I'll roll the dice and figure something out. Thank you for your time!~

And now the second of the Devil May Cry reviews which is weird because this one is focussing on the first Devil May Cry because the numbering system Capcom used for these games is freaking mental.

E3 2019 overview
I wanted to take the time to look at and talk about some of the games we’re more than likely seeing at the conference. E3 is...dying and it’s misleading trailers don’t help, but despite this, the show is still important and at least gives us a little insight into what may come in games/tech. So let’s cross our fingers and dive in. I’ll be focussing more on main titles and not DLC and updates. Available footage will be linked in the corresponding title.
Avengers project (Crystal Dynamics/ Square Enix)
It feels like ages since the teaser for the Avengers project dropped. Since then I have been trying to keep my hopes high, I even thought it was canceled for a time when we heard literally nothing since that trailer. I know nothing about this game, but I just hope Crystal Dynamics and Square are treating something this big with the care it needs. The last thing Marvel, more importantly Disney, want is another Battlefront 2 situation on their hands. If Square can incorporate their over the top combat style to the Marvel universe, it could be amazing, incredible, invinci- okay I’ll stop.
Borderlands 3
Getting back into Borderlands just before the big press release was very serendipitous. Something about this made me even more excited for some of the additions coming like loot instancing, slide/mantle (finally), secondary fire weapons, more diverse and varied play spaces, and a lot more. So many of BL2 and the Pre-Sequel’s flaws are glaring with me having played them recently and to see the long-awaited title addressing these exact issues so comforting when I get to thinking about this next adventure into the wastes. It isn’t some massive leap forward or anything, it’s more Borderlands and there’s nothing wrong with that to me. Finally, an online optional looter shooter that isn’t some strange mmo lite, long live the king. Randy Pitchford is a weirdo but I’m not gonna hold that against the devs lol.
Cyberpunk 2077
This is more than likely going to be my game of the show. E3 is typically full of surprises and anything can happen but in all honesty, I just can’t see much coming close especially since we aren’t seeing Death Stranding (thattrailertho). I was literally giddy when they released the gameplay trailer that they showed press and influencers and the FPS RPG looked very good but not unrealistic. Recently it’s come out that the game is “pretty different” from that showcase and that statement interests me as much as it gives me pause. Regardless, we are going to be seeing more of this game with CDPR claiming they’ll have an even bigger presence than last year. I just hope that we get solid gameplay footage and not buzzwords and theatrical trailers.
CoD 2019
Black Ops 4 came out guns drawn and it really impressed at first. Since that time Activision has found a way to completely reverse the conversation around BO4 and where the franchise is headed/ is as a whole. Activision needs a win, and with this being their main and essentially only franchise it has to be big. The rumor is that it’s Modern Warfare 4 which would be a “soft reboot” if that is the case. If not this year then next, I’m surprised it’s even taken them this long so hopefully all this time will lead to something good. Honestly, I’m shocked we’re still getting annual releases of this game. I don’t forsee CoD lasting much longer and this tug at our nostalgia may be a sign of that.Â
Destroy All Humans (THQ Nordic)
I spent so many hours with my friend Walter terrorizing the meat bags between the tools the game devs gave us and some gamer creativity that was a relatively new aspect of gaming compared to nowadays where player creativity is often an aspect of gameplay. THQ has reported something insane like 50+ games in development which...sounds like a stupid choice but if this is one of them it’s definitely going to get people’s heads turning. Can you imagine what they’ll be able to do with today’s tech? They don’t have to go crazy but then again for the sake of a concise vision but...maybe they should?
Dino Crisis (Capcom)
Let’s talk more about old ass games I’m completely shocked could be coming back. So in light of Capcom bringing back past titles and breathing new life into them, it is reported that Capcom is looking to bring back...Dino Crisis? I swear to god if they make Dino Crisis before Viewtiful Joe and Onimusha? POWER STONE ANYONE?? I’m more than willing to suspend my meh-ness because Capcom has proved that not only can they bring back an old game we love, but they can do it damn well. If this is true, then maybe there is hope for some of my favorite Capcom titles from the past but mother of god why Dino Crisis?
Doom Eternal
Doom 2016 was one of the best first-person shooters I’ve ever played. “Smooth as butter” isn’t something I would use to describe most games but god damn if that game wasn’t lubed up before they packaged it because it’s damn slick. So imagine the stiffy I got when that gameplay was dropped and mobility was increased. Can we talk about the grappling hook shotgun? The new demons and takedowns to dispatch said demons? God knows what else is under the hood for us to find out when it releases let alone when they talk about it during the conference. A more open level design in tandem with the conventional “kill room” here and there is gonna really spice up the combat especially if exploration is properly rewarded. Rage 2 was a disappointment but I do have hope this is gonna live up to the hype the way it did the first time.
Gears of War 5
Lawd Microsoft needs a win. This is quite clearly their attempt at a blockbuster event like God of War was for Sony. Everything about the trailer screams “Oscar bait but for games” and I hope they do the damn thing. Make me sad I don’t have an Xbox dammit! This could be a big step for Gears and could even lead it down a more character focussed design. The world of Gears of War is rich for a deeper explanation, and I know that isn’t what Gears is known for but I won’t be told that they can’t do both. It appears to be heavily cinematic though gameplay can be seen in the trailer above. It seems interesting and I hope they really make something worth owning an Xbox for. The fans deserve it.
Halo: Infinite
Did I say Microsoft needs a win from the software perspective? Cause they do. The Xbox One is fine, the One X is a huge step up and is the most powerful console but there are next to no exclusives for this console. Ya know, the reason why you buy a certain console outside of interface and services. What better way than to bring back the most successful franchise Microsoft has associated with. There’s talk of it having an open world which is jarring initially especially when the history of Halo is rich with environments that tell stories alongside the mid-range combat. If they can properly expand that baseline to fit an open world format, it’ll be amazing. Whether or not they can is the question.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened
Warner Brothers does a great job of shooting themselves square in the foot. They just put on the finest shoes money can buy and BAM queue the red kool-aid fountain. Shadow of War is the pinnacle of such stupidity with the way the monetization completely bankrupted the integrity of the game. The brief footage that was up involved a third-person real-time action reminiscent of the original games. Warner Bros. jumped on the trailer takedown but it’s safe to say the cat is out of the bag and casting spells in the kitchen. This could be a unique adventure involving a custom character, it could involve something more directly related to the books. Anything is possible but if we heard about it this year it wouldn’t entirely surprise me.
My Friend Pedro
A twin stick shooter of a different kind. Imagine stranglehold but cartoony, John Wick but even more comic book like. It looks like the entire game is going to be centered around ballerina jumping through levels and enemies leaving every enemy in your wake riddled with bullets. It seems light, fun, and self-aware in it’s silliness which can lead to the most fun type of games.
Session
Oh boy, SKATE was my jam back in high school and if you’re anything like me you’ve been waiting for the next game/ literally anything like it to come along. Session appears to be that game, we weren’t told a lot when it was revealed so I’m hoping that E3 will lead to some more information on gameplay and ya know, a release date.Â
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
Anthem is in shambles and in my opinion, it’s this year’s No Man’s Sky. Between the games they put out, and the Star Wars games they put out (or don’t put out depending on your perspective); this does not bode well at all. Respawn is working on the project and their track record is very good, but I can’t help but worry about what EA is planning. They always find a way to put their hand directly into a project and do exactly what needs to be done to ruin it. Sometimes that’s on the front end in development and planning or lack thereof, and sometimes it’s on the back end with moving devs to other projects/ not hold their devs to the post-launch promises they tend to make and not fulfill. This story of a padawan in hiding after Order 66 is ripe for gameplay development and storytelling. So long as Respawn has the vision and can execute, all we need is for EA to stay the fuck away and let them work. We’ll see.
honorable mentions: Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Vampire Bloodlines 2, From Soft and George R. R. Martin collab, Fable remake, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad, Wolfenstein Young Blood, Afterparty, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Bleeding Edge (Ninja Theory’s new game), Last of Us 3 (v hype just not a lot of info)

Iceborne adding Stygian Zinogre, Safi’jiiva on PC tomorrow • Eurogamer.net
Plus tempered Ruiner Nergigante and more.
Come April, Monster Hunter World fans across both PC and console will be able to bathe in a unified glow, as Capcom’s post-launch development schedule aligns across all platforms. Until then, however, Iceborne’s staggered content drops continue, with tomorrow, 12th March, ushering in the fearsome Stygian Zinogre and Safi’jiiva on PC.

The Stygian Zinogre, meanwhile, awaits at the far end of Iceborne’s challenging campaign, and hunters hoping to face it will be required to speak to the Seeker in Seliana, having beaten the expansion’s main story and unlocked the Guiding Lands’s Volcanic Region.
Your reward for besting the Stygian Zinogre – aside from an enormous sense of well-being and, if my personal approach to Monster Hunter is anything to go by, hand cramp – comes in the form of materials needed to craft new Zinogre hunter and Palico equipment. You can also obtain a new weapon pendant and the Stygian Zinogre Claws by completing the Seeker’s quests.

In addition to Iceborne’s two new monsters, Capcom’s latest PC title update – which arrives at midnight on Thursday, 12th March – introduces the new Tundra Region to the Guiding Lands, a tempered version of the Ruiner Nergigante, new layered armour and Elder Melder items, new Seliana room decor and background music, plus a variety of other changes, including improved mechanics for the sword and shield and dual blades.
April will bring the Furious Rajang and Raging Brachydios to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on PC (console players get them this month), alongside new Arch-Tempered and Master Rank variants of existing monsters – at which point Iceborne’s development will synchronise. As for May, that will herald the return of a still-mysterious “fan-favourite monster”.

Monster Hunter World PC players reporting deleted saves following Iceborne’s arrival • Eurogamer.net
Alongside significant performance issues.
Monster Hunter World’s Iceborne expansion finally – finally – launched on PC yesterday, four months after its console debut. And while its highly anticipated arrival is certainly reason to celebrate, not all PC players are in a jubilant mood, with many reporting a range of issues with the newly released PC version – the most worrying being that existing game saves are, in some cases, no longer recognised after Iceborne’s installation.
Monster Hunter is, it’s fair to say, a game that can swallow up an enormous chunk of play time, thanks to its grind-focussed design – and after almost two years of free content updates for World, individual saves can easily reach into the hundreds of hours. Understandably then, players are oscillating between horror and devastation upon discovering that – as reported across Steam, Reddit, and other corners of the internet – their saves are gone following an Iceborne install, with the game prompting them to create a fresh file on start-up.
As noted by VG247, in the absence of official word from Capcom, players have speculated that missing saves could be the result of mod compatibility issues, or perhaps a failure to update Monster Hunter World following a previous patch that made alterations to save data.

Whatever the cause, those worried about the issue might want to manually back up their save games from Monster Hunter World’s Steam directory prior to installing Iceborne. That can then be restored, if required, via this handy community created Save Transfer tool. Those that have already been affected are also using the tool to install Iceborne-ready saves provided by other players, although these will obviously lack hard-earned personal progress.
Alongside save game concerns, there’ve also been widespread reports of performance degradation – including plummeting frame rates and freezing – following Iceborne’s arrival (although other players, including myself, have actually seen a performance boost). Capcom has acknowledged performance concerns, saying it’s currently investigating reports.
[PC/Steam] We are aware of performance issues that have been reported, and are currently investigating them.
If you have been experiencing any issues with the PC version, please contact Capcom Support and be ready to share more info on your system: https://t.co/qf4EFm6HJK

Hopefully the publisher will be able to resolve Iceborne’s technical problems on PC soon, so that players can enjoy what’s an otherwise superb expansion unhindered.
