general headcanons

he's a bit of a night owl. having been used to doing loads of paperwork and filing, as per the job of a commander of a spartan team.

I imagine that if he isn't drinking coffee, its a strong tea, like English breakfast or earl grey.

a solid 4 cups of caffeine a day for this man!

he's not very in tune with his emotions, he is a spartan after all.

when he plans training matches, he tries to make it hard. it brings him joy to watch Emile struggle, wouldn't be shocked if it's because emiles been pissing him off.

, on one hand, he gets kind of anxious when the rest of noble don't reply ASAP but on the other he trusts them to take care of themselves and get out of whatever sticky situation theyre in.

late to bed, early to rise. he's usually awake before anyone, sometimes earlier than Jorge. whilst waiting for the others to wake up, he is sitting at his desk sipping coffee and looking at his PADD

i nabbed this idea from cranes fanfic "dysphoria", he likes old action movies. like early 2000's marvel shit.

idk if they have dogs on base, but if they do, he loves to play with them when hes off duty

Carter is a very sentimental man, so I think he'd have pictures of momentos from the people he cares about

He trusts his team but sometimes he looks at their shenanigans and wonders what the actual fuck is wrong with these people, it's really funny. I can just imagine kat or emile doing something they are CERTAINTLY not supposed to do and just staring with this look of exhaustion before he breaks it up.

He pushes his team to their limit, he knows they can do better every time, but he would never harm them.

I’ll be honest, when he first figures out that he loves you, he will be confused, and in an attempt to remain calm and professional, he will shove those feelings down. He doesn't want anything ruining your guys current relationships

He's so charming, unintentionally, though, considering that he's not very in tune with his emotions, he is a good flirt when he wants to be, though.

He's the type of person to hold your hand and kiss your knuckles.

If he’s in front of his or your superior(s), he won't show affection because of professionalism.

I can't stress this enough, but HE LOVES TO CUDDLE OR HOLD YOU

I feel like he would be the kind of person to wrap his arms around you when you're hugging or cuddling making it impossible to get out.

If he's really tired, it's hard to wake him up. He will complain. But most days, it's pretty easy to wake him up.

He's very warm. The thin blanket that is supplied by the UNSC is not very nice, so when yall are sleeping in the same bed, he's very warm. It helps alot

If you two were sleeping in separate bedrooms and he would have a night terror, no matter what you’d wake up to him sliding into bed with you trying his best to not wake you up. he needs that comfort man.

Something about seeing you in battle fills him with so much pride and admiration, he likes his partners to be capable

If you were to get hurt he’d be very concerned, and if you're in critical condition, there's no sleeping for him. Carter doesn't want to leave your side at all.

He’s prolly a very gentle kisser, and only likes to show such large displays of affection behind closed doors, because of professionalism and how hard he sticks to the rules <;3

I feel like he'd take some time to think about if he actually is attracted to you or if it's just admiration, so he's probably a slow burn guy.

Downtime between deployments was rare for Noble Team.

Carter hardly knew what to do with himself when he wasn't in combat; he fidgeted, scarred hands always twitching as if he was brimming with an energy he couldn't contain.

He found himself staring at the wall, his foot tapping incessantly as he counted the minutes.

"Carter?" your soft voice jarred him out of his distracted state and he looked up into your face. Your brows were knitted low over your eyes, your expression concerned, "Are you alright?"

Carter sighed and shook his head, "I don't like not being in the field- I'm a soldier, I should be out there."

"Well, I like having you here," you said it simply before dropping onto the couch next to him and he smiled.

"I know. I'm sorry-" he paused and searched for the words, "I know it's hard for you when I'm gone."

You edged closer to him and rested your head against his shoulder; he always tensed at physical contact, but he was getting better. He wrapped an arm around your frame and pulled you tight against him.

It had taken so long to get to this point- this level of comfortability. Carter had only known war and death for most of his life. You were the one soft thing, the one person that gave him a purpose beyond his duties as a Spartan.

The one person who made it worth having downtime.

Hiii i was wondering if you would do some general dating hcs for jun A266!! I love your writing sm!! Thanks! -owomonsterwrites

Had a hard time thinking about this one, since Jun still kind of confuses me, but I think I sort of got down what I imagine dating him is like, hopefully these will suffice!  I kind of imagine when dating him, it would take a while for him to truly open up; he’s seen the worst of wars and has seen many great men die on the fields, so he’s more closed off and has a tendency to brush off his trauma with jokes and the such.

He can be seemingly detached from reality at times, due to his trauma. He’s seen some really fucked events happen to the brightest of souls, look at Noble Team, so he’s learned to sort of… drown them out in a sense. Jun acknowledges his former team no doubt, as he had a tightly-knitted bond with Noble 5, Jorge, it’s just that there’s no point in lingering on the past, so he would rather focus on the future. Especially if it concerns his S/O. His lover he prizes above nearly everything, so he’d rather start making sure he’s able to carve out a future while he’s still around. 

Quite the chatterbox, so his S/O better prepare themselves for that. He usually isn’t always that way, especially concerning operations, but it’s enough to be considered not the norm for most spartans, and he definitely has stories to tell. They can be quite enjoyable, remember that one story he told where a soldier thought of his gun like a time machine? 

I imagine him as sort of a practical thinker, but sometimes goes with the flow. For example, he isn’t the type to drink normally, he sees no value in something like alcohol, but on occasion he’ll do it just because (don’t expect him to do it all the time though, he still has limits, he does it more often than say Carter, though).

He’s somewhat of a softy, but not as much as Jorge is. He’s more of a casual softy (is that even a thing?); leaning against his S/O, casually brushing his hand against theirs while walking, subtle praises, and even saying ‘I love you’ in public, though he isn’t always audible. 

Jun isn’t always the gloomy type, with his chatterbox persona, he does enjoy an enlightening saying or two. Say him and his S/O are having a friendly game to see who’s able to ensure more kills on the Grunts, he’d casually throw in something like, “If you win, do I have to sleep on the couch with the pup?” (imagine Jun and his S/O have a doggo)

There are times where he can be strictly serious, examples being when his S/O is put in danger that he isn’t confident he’s able to save them from (a rare occurrence, but it’s one of the only times that dread will start to seep in). If it’s an especially dire situation, he’d break off from his chain of command and go lone-wolf for the rest of the mission; he believes there’s little time left, and there is not absolute certainty his leader will be able to get to you in time, so he’ll take matters into his own hands, everything else be damned.

Not usually the protective type, if you’re curious. Jun can get jealous, though it usually isn’t major, more of he’ll let it be known that his S/O is taken, but he won’t resort to violence or any show of intimidation (unless the guy was asking for a beat-down; Jun may be a sniper, but he still knows how to deal a good punch). 

Doesn’t have too many hobbies, since his job as a spartan doesn’t allow it a majority of the time. Though I do imagine that if archery is still around, he’d be interested in taking that up. It’d be different from his normal sniper rifle, and it would give him a neat little challenge to his marksmanship; probably would want his S/O to take it up along with him, just so there's an extra layer of fun stacked on.

I imagine that Jun somewhat has a fascination with tattoos. He can admire the work it takes to safely draw one on the human skin (is draw the correct term? I have no idea) and cause as little pain possibly, while making the tattoo be as detailed as the commissioner wants it to be. It’s a delicate balance, and he can appreciate the craftsmanship. Honestly,he would probably want to get a matching tattoo with his S/O, possibly somewhere on the wrist or shoulder of a bird (what type of bird is up to you).

This man, at first, is fucking clueless. Don't take that as he doesn't know what periods are; he does, it's just since female spartans don't have periods, he's never actually been exposed to it.

Carter knows that females experience major cramps and pain, so he'll buy his S/O pain-killers and search for heating pads.

While he's at it though, his S/O will have to tell him to buy either tampons or pads, and this man is absolutely fucking dedicated. You bet your damn ass he'll go to the store in his armor to the women's section to pick up the necessities... also he'll buy cleaning supplies because I do HC Carter to be a clean freak (as in germs n' all that, his room is a fucking mess).

Now he's heard of the horrors of other women going through their period, one of the tales that was commonly spread around being the terrifying mood swings. He got the chance to experience it himself when his S/O when on a fucking rampage and trashed the mess hall, then right after, burst into tears over a dropped apple.

Needless to say, he makes sure she's satisfied from now on.

Carter won't always be at her beck and call though, he's a spartan. What he does though is buy a huge amount of whatever her cravings are, along with other extras that she might crave later on as a precaution. Furthermore, he occasionally has Six check up on his S/O every now and again, if Carter can't be there himself.

He lets her cuddle with him when he's finally able to get a break; he's super big and warm, so sometimes she lays on top of him to help the cramps instead. Hey man, free cuddles.

Hmm, personally though? I feel like Carter would politely ask to try and keep it to a hands only/shoulder touch way, in public at least.

There's a lot of issues with showing PDA with him; his superiors would most certainly show disapproval of the actions, and might do a rash decision like forcefully removing you from his care to keep Carter focused on the mission at hand. Others inclued enemies of the UNSC taking advantage the spartan's weakness and kidnapping/torturing you, or civilians that despise the spartan program turning to bullying you for actions you didn't even commit. Carter also isn't the type for PDA in general, so it's a no-go for him

However, he technically wouldn't mind it if it was in a private place, like his quarters. That's where he's sure no one's looking, so by all means hold his hand, hug 'em, cuddle 'em, do whatever. There's always boundaries though, so you would probably have to ask him before hand. He can be a bit jumpy since, ya know, he's still a soldier. Don't want him accidentally shooting you, right?

Jerome, I imagine, is a switch; he can either go dom or be a sub, though he has a personal preference of being a dom

Typically he doesn't go too hard on you (if you're not a Spartan that is), out of terrorized fear that he'll accidentally crush you beneath him

What he does do, however, is fuck you in places you probably shouldn't... aka public places

Jerome finds a intoxicating thrill in almost being caught by his superior officer or another soldier, so much so that it becomes a hobby to make you a trembling puddle before someone turns the corner

Common places he likes to try are in the showers and training rooms, but the leader of Red Team is always open for options

100% has a daddy kink, which you discovered one night when you screamed it when you were getting railed against the bed (God, that awakened something feral in him)

I would want to say he has a breeding kink; as a result, you're often overfilled by his seed to where it starts to spill onto the sheets and you're left a panting mess

Okay, admittedly Carter is the toughest one (besides Chief) to accept the idea of sex; he's a strict commando through and through, so you'll have to be quite the suck up

Needless to say though, Carter can go from being painfully awkward to a decently good sex partner.

His well-trained eyes constantly traces your every step and move to where he can see the sweat trickle down your arms and body, to see you train so relentlessly hit something within him

He's not a kinky individual at all, but he does have his moments (don't try to do any degradation with him, it's an instant no and a turn off)

The biggest turn on for him is during training where you're honing your skills against a sparring partner, typically either Jun or Emile

Not a dirty talker, far from it, though there are sparse occasions where you catch glimpses of territorial temptations lingering in Carter then you're up against a wall in your shared room getting pounded

Honestly it wouldn't doubt me one bit if people questioned my choices, but I don't want to recycle the same "Master Chief Jerome Carter" formula; I want to give other spartans love rather than leaving them empty handed, so, here we have Jun! Originally it was supposed to be Jorge, but something about what you said screamed at me that Jun would be the type to enjoy your personality.

Not one moment would he be bothered by your initial shyness, if anything he'll be patient and take the reigns and be the person to initiate conversation. You don't have to respond to him if you don't want to, he's perfectly fine with talking all day long (well, not all day, but he is surprisingly a chatter box).

Bah, Jun wouldn't mind the way you look, to him you look like a normal citizen. He's not easily intimidated, take Jorge for example.

No matter how many gallons of coffee this man consumes, it seemingly vanishes the instant it reaches his stomach, leaving Jun with little energy. Well, not true. He's used to managing with little sleep, so you'll be catching him up in the middle of the night grabbing a snack or polishing his rifle.

I think the obstacle you'll have to overcome with Jun is his usual unattached or apathetic nature. It's not his fault, as he suffers from post-traumatic stress, and it's taking a lot of therapy to topple it. Don't expect Jun to immediately open up to you or be the most comforting.

What does do though is listen. His ears can pick up any trace of sound, so you bet your ass Jun will be listening in on whatever you have to say and processing it through his mind. If you want to say something to someone else and they're not paying attention, they'll get a tap on the shoulder by the ever watchful Jun.

Jun would be the one to help you nail down what major you want to do; he'll spend hours going over your likes and dislikes to help choose the right path for you, like how he chose the path of the sniper to travel down. And believe me, Jun knows his shit.

Okay but another reason why I chose Jun is that he'd honestly prefer staying inside too. Being outside doesn't bother him and he doesn't mind it, but being inside provides a good amount of cover for him, so it's safe, and not to mention he has a clear view of his targets.

Ehhhhh Jun will have some problems trying to help you during your stress at your job. Again, he's pretty apathetic, so it's less comfort and more of advice, which sometime isn't really needed. This does leave him confused and sort of annoyed really; it'll be hard for him to see that's him that has to adapt, but he'll get there, eventually.

Till then though, he'll have Jorge help him out with controlling your anxiety. Breathing exercises, all that.

What he does have though is confidence, and that's something that'll keep pushing you forward. Jun isn't the type to falsely believe you're already great and all that, he wants to see you improve and be the best of the best.

He helps you study, he helps with practice tests, he helps you work out, and hell he even tries to help you with drawing, because he wants to see you improve and strive to be the top. He'll never speak down to you while helping, and surprisingly he's patient when it comes to this, since it's something he can actually interact with (emotionally he's not great, but physically and mentally he is).

This spartan doesn't understand video games, not in the slightest. If he sees you playing an FPS game he'll probably just take you outside and see if you could pull it off in real life. If it's an RPG or and MMO, he'd probably watch just to see how you do.

Even though he doesn't care for games, he can instantly pick up on things you should and should not do in them. You can probably say that if Jun actually cared for said games, he'd be really fucking good at them.

He's not much of a physical person (I mean, not many of the spartans are), buuuuut he can let a hand hold slide.

I know I said Jun is apathetic and all that but there's one emotion he can't tune out, and that is raw jealous. That shit is a literal bomb inside of him, and he can never figure out why.

He'd likely intimidate whoever was flirting with you with his rifle, and some good ol' spartan charm... aka how about Jun prove his abilities by the guy running the other way?

Then.. he'd just pick you up and leave

Not any request, but I had this thought and I wanted to get it out of my head: imagine the Bad Batch (Star Wars, pre-Order 66) meeting Noble Team (Halo)

I fully imagine Jun and Crosshair would get into a scuffle over who's the better shot, lots of banter and biting remarks but have underlying respect for the other despite it. Who knows, maybe Crosshair will stop being an ass to Noble Team. (Emile almost got himself kicked off again because him and Crosshair got into a nasty fight when he called them 'regs')

Cat is impressed with Tech's knowledge of practically everything, though she might be a annoyed at how he can ramble sometimes and gets a little snappy if he goes on for too long. Other than that though shes content with him.

Jorge and Emile with Wrecker though? Jorge notices Wrecker's strength immediately and commends him for it; if it weren't for his personality, Jorge might even say he's on Level with Spartan-IIs. Can't tell me they don't get along by training in fist fights, arm wrestling and joyous conversations about the Covenant and Seppies though. Emile is just glad that he has someone who appreciates his explosive tendencies, I totally imagine him and Wrecker sneak out sometimes to go cause some chaos against the baddies by blowing their shit up; totally craft their own explosives too and have fun about it

Carter and Hunter get along smoothly as commanders and brothers in arms (not literally, but they both went through similar events such as being molded for war and such). Carter appreciates the work and leadership Hunter has for his squad, and Hunter's breathing sighs of relief that he has someone to talk to that isn't about to start fights, blow shit up or go on random sayings. 10/10 they are terrifying when their paired up together, no questions. (Also if you really want to think about it.... Carter kinda looks like a 'reg' clone too)

Noble-6 (going off of the personality shown in game and not the custom character) would get along with Echo the most, but it isn't immediate, like its almost as slow as a slug. I headcannon that because he's such a lone wolf (even with Noble Team, he has a habit and preference of going solo), he struggles to open up to anyone, but then over the course of getting to know Echo, he just... let's out a lot of things. Six goes over the amount of chaos and death he's seen that he forcibly bottles up to where nightmares happen so frequently that he's left with barely several hours of sleep. Echo completely understands as with what happened at the Citadel, him being a POW, Fives, and so much more, he relates to Six on a personal level. They become buddies quickly and Six never lets anyone rudely comment on Echo's cybernetic body, or else they get a fist to the face.

> Carter is absolutely seething once the news of your duel reached the conference; however, despite the anger coursing through his veins, he remains stoic and was quick to dismiss his presence from the room to handle the situation

> Originally he had ordered Kat to take his place on the call, but she defiantly refused to allow Carter to go on his own. Your life not only mattered to him, but to the entirety of Noble Team as well - you had integrated yourself amongst their ranks, and soon, blossomed into a cherished family member 

> As a result Kat hastily reschedule the call regardless of the protest she'll hear later before she followed her leader to the site of the fight - Jorge, Emile and Jun followed suit, already readying themselves to pulverize the deemed threat 

> Those that were passing through the same corridors as Noble Team could feel the ground rumble at the heavy duty armor the spartans wore pound against the floor - to the witnesses, it was like a small stampede trampling through 

> Carter was swift to arrive at the scene along with his team members, but his blood began to boil as heat suddenly rushed his skin in a scorching wave of anger 

> His first sight was your helpless form sprawled out against the ground; a pool of fresh crimson engulfed you, the opposing spartan hovered over you in a frightening display of dominance, an edged knife firmly held within their hands

> He asked simple questions to keep your mind occupied, but made sure that they weren’t pestering for a specific answer: what was your name, gender, etc.

> All of what Carter said seemed fuzzy to you, though you answered the questions to the best of your ability without straining your already darkening mind 

> The medical team eventually came to take you to the medical bay to be treated; Carter, at first, was reluctant to let you go despite the necessity - it took some convincing from Kat, but ultimately he allowed your hand to escape his own

> On the other hand, the opposing Spartan was taken away to the brig courtesy of Jorge and Emile; Carter made sure that the bastard served his time… if he had his way, they would be on a exhilarating journey towards a Covenant base for the slaughter 

> During your time treated Carter buried himself in work to speed up the grueling passage of time. His mind raced with disastrous thoughts that his heart knew that simply wasn’t true - how you wouldn’t survive, crippled, forcibly resigned due to your injuries… it was difficult to shove them down into the darker crevices of his heart 

> Along with the hurricane followed a reminiscence period of the past - the famous Noble Leader found himself love-struck with you after your development as a compelling and achieving member of Noble. 

> His heart thundered wildly in his chest as the memories resurfaced, and he even found himself becoming flustered and covered his face to hide an embarrassed blush (what he was thinking of is entirely up to you)

> After a few more hours the news of the successful surgery allowed his mind to finally rest comfortably knowing you were safe and on the road to recovery 

> The following days he visited you frequently - or at least when he could. Every visit he noticed your smile becoming brighter and brighter, shimmering like a valley of gold amongst the sun. It made his heart do loops as he sat next to you, gently taking your hand as your discussions led to the current updates on Noble and the war between humanity and the Covenant 

> Of course you wanted to discuss more than simple war topics, so you opted to lead the conversation towards simple bickering between some UNSC members or the bewildering rumors that took the ship by storm 

> Carter… he could only really listen and throw his opinion in once and a while, he was never really the type to talk about anything but war tactics and the sort 

> Your recovery ended a week or two after the battle had ceased and you were combat ready, though Carter was semi-hesitant to allow you to do more dicey missions; he assigned you to do smaller missions before building your way up again

> He definitely is protective of you, preferring to stay by your side whenever possible but when the option is simply unavailable to him, he assigns Kat to be by your side as well

> Developed a few trust issues with other spartans outside of Noble - unless they are of a higher position than he is or significantly well-respected (such as the Master Chief), Carter always has a keen eye on them

> Finds a lot more comfort in holding your hand. It’s a nice way for him to show small amounts of affection while also reassuring him that you’re close 

> Dare I say Carter finds himself removing his helmet at random intervals (that doesn’t include being in the presence of superiors or in a conference/meeting) to gently press kisses against your forehead - you find that embarrassing sometimes, but it’s such a nice experience for you
