cassian andor x gn!reader - affection hcs
Tumblr media
+ cassian isn’t big on flowery language. however, him saying “i trust you” is practically a love confession in and of itself.
+ he wants you to be near him, always. “stay close to me.” “you okay?” “i got you.” you’ll always hear that when you’re with him.
+ he’s not big on PDA, but in private, his hands always find his way to yours, brushing your knuckles or holding your hand in his.
+ you’re what grounds him. he’ll press his forehead to you, sighing after a long day. with his arms around your waist, you really are his anchor.
+ his eyes are always on you. in a crowd, you’ll be the first thing he looks for when he’s glancing around. he becomes more wary of danger towards you than to himself at this point.
+ “do you want to come with me?” “do you want me to handle it?” he’s confident you can hold your own, but he wants to protect you just the same.
+ he’s been through so much that softness is something he cannot take for granted. now that you’re here, it’s all he seeks. you’re his solace.
+ he enjoys sitting in silence with you, especially after a mission. when you’re next to him, he doesn’t have to be so tense. he can relax, as much as he’ll allow himself.
+ in a protective sense, he doesn’t talk about you with others often. he carries you with him, however, in the form of a piece of jewelry or accessory that you used to wear and have him.
+ he remembers every little thing about you. when you’re apart from him, he’ll seek anything that can remind him of you, whether it’s a snack you enjoy or a song you like, which he’ll hum.
+ even though he struggles to say “i love you,” his loyalty and actions make it loud and clear. he’ll choose you, only you, every day.
[ thanks for enjoying my work! leaving like, reblog, or follow means a lot to me. be sure to leave a comment or send an ask as well! my requests are open. - love, diego ]

cassian andor and a small hotel room on coruscant. you are both hiding from the empire — almost in plain sight one might say. the rain is coming down hard against the windows, but the lights from passing vehicles still shine through.
you are grateful for quiet moments like these. when the rebellion seems to inch into the back of your mind and you can just be with the man you love.
his arms wrap around you from behind, beard tickling your skin as he nuzzles his face into your neck. “it’s going to be alright,” cassian whispers, calloused hands finding your own and letting them rest on your stomach.
“i would do anything to protect you.”
you know he would.
even if this rebellion was going to be the death of you, nothing could take this love you had for one another away. nothing could come between you two.

coming home to you
Tumblr media
summary: The war is over, and like you promised, you're going to find Cassian. word count: 900+ pairing: cassian andor x gn!reader notes: ugh... this is super angsty because after watching ep 9, all i could think about is the fact that bix and cassian will never see each other again, and also that bix might not even know for years that he's dead. so, this was born because apparently i love pain warnings/tags: post return of the jedi, canon to rogue one, angstttt, painnnn, wrote at 3am in 20 minutes because of insomnia
Tumblr media
Even beneath the warmth of a victorious sun, beneath skies cleared of Imperial banners, you shivered. The city glittered again, pulsating with life and liberation. And yet, it felt strangely empty, as though the price paid for freedom had hollowed out the very heart of the galaxy.
It had been weeks since the Empire’s fall, weeks since the galaxy began piecing itself back together. Yet you were still searching. For one man—one face. Cassian.
They told you to check the Archives of Remembrance, a somber building newly established in the heart of the Senate district. It was a grim place, filled with grieving eyes and whispered prayers—a place dedicated to tracking lost souls. Missing soldiers, vanished rebels, anyone swallowed whole by war.
You were there, eyes scanning lists of names, fingers tracing endless holographic entries. Nothing. Your heart strained under each letter you read, yet never found his name. It was as if he’d vanished like smoke.
“Excuse me,” you approached an archivist carefully, voice tight with suppressed hope, “I can’t find a record. I'm searching for Cassian Andor. He was part of the Rebellion, a captain. Could you please—”
The archivist's face softened, as if they'd heard the same desperate plea countless times before. “Not everyone is accounted for yet. Please, check back soon. Many records were lost or are still incomplete.”
You nodded numbly, stepping back. The murmurs around you blended into a distant hum as you turned to leave, heart heavy and body weary from your search.
A small commotion caught your attention as you stepped out onto the wide balcony. A group of dignitaries walked through the grand plaza below, surrounded by guards in muted uniforms. At their center, unmistakably elegant and dignified, walked Mon Mothma herself. You hadn’t seen her since that day on Coruscant—the day Cassian brought her safely from Imperial jaws.
Something snapped within you. Before rational thought could silence the impulse, your feet carried you swiftly down the marble steps, past startled guards and curious onlookers. “Senator!” you called out, your voice shaking.
Mon Mothma paused, gracefully turning toward the source of the voice. Her eyes, clear and compassionate, settled on your face. Recognition flickered there, subtle but unmistakable.
“I know you,” she said softly, stepping closer. Her guards shifted uneasily, but she stilled them with a gentle raise of her hand. “You’re—”
“I need your help,” you interrupted desperately, your composure unraveling like threadbare cloth. “Cassian Andor. I—I can't find him. He wouldn’t just disappear. You knew him—he saved you. Please,” your voice broke slightly, and you hated yourself for the vulnerability, “please tell me where he is.”
Her expression shifted. Sadness dimmed her eyes, pulling a shadow across her delicate features. For a painful moment, she hesitated, clearly choosing her words carefully.
“Walk with me,” she finally said, her voice steady but unbearably gentle. She guided you away from the curious ears around you, leading you to a quieter corner of the plaza. The cityscape sprawled before you, bright and promising, painfully oblivious to your aching heart.
“Where is he?” you asked again, the words little more than a whisper this time, dread creeping into your bones.
Mon’s gaze lowered briefly before finding yours again, solemn and compassionate.
“I thought you knew,” she said quietly, heartbreak etched in every word. “Cassian gave everything for the Rebellion. He was there on Scarif, at the very end. He’s gone.”
Silence filled your ears, deafening in its emptiness. The truth punched through you—sharp, definitive, brutal. You swayed slightly, a breath catching sharply in your throat.
She gently took your hand, grounding you amidst the painful shock. “He saved all of us. He changed everything,” she whispered sincerely, her voice filled with quiet reverence. “I'm so deeply sorry.”
And there, on the sunlit streets of a liberated Coruscant, your world quietly shattered. For all the galaxy had won, you'd lost the only thing that truly mattered.
Cassian was gone.
Tears formed in your eyes as you tried to blink them away. “No, I—” You took a shaky breath, “I left him. On Yavin. I told him that I’d find him, that—I left because I knew he had to stay, because he couldn’t just leave, they needed him.”
Mon squeezed your hand gently. "He understood that. Cassian knew exactly why you left. He never blamed you."
You shook your head, your throat tightening. "I should've stayed. I could've been there, I could've—"
"No," Mon said softly, but firmly. "This isn't on you. Cassian made his choices. He made them willingly. He believed in this—he believed in all of us. In you."
You stared at her, searching desperately for some kind of hope, some hidden truth that she'd kept back. But her eyes only reflected honesty and quiet sorrow.
"When I last saw him," you whispered, voice raw and shaking, "he said he wanted out. He was tired. I was supposed to be his reason to leave, but I couldn’t—I didn’t want him to abandon everything because of me."
Mon nodded slowly. "You were right. He would have regretted walking away. It wasn't who he was."
"He deserved better," you said bitterly, tears finally falling freely. "He deserved to survive this."
"Yes, he did." Mon looked out at the liberated city. "But he gave us this, and he gave us a chance. Don’t underestimate what he sacrificed for."
Your voice trembled as the weight of loss finally pressed down fully upon you. "He wasn't just a symbol or a sacrifice. He was Cassian. He was my—"
"I know," Mon whispered, pulling you into a gentle embrace. You buried your face against her shoulder, finally breaking beneath the realization. "He loved you. I know he did."
Around you, the celebrations of freedom continued—oblivious, hopeful, and painfully distant from the ache in your chest. For now, you let yourself mourn, because Cassian had fought for a future he'd never see, leaving behind a hole no victory could ever fill.

cassian andor general romance hcs
word count: 994
warnings: none, just a miniscule reference to sex
message from the authors: first post on the account! love that for us. we both (okay just me, fine - grace) went a little feral writing these, enjoy the show! (i was moral support for grace and additional idea giver, hope u love! - rosa)
--
ok so! i think cass is very easily scared off when it comes to this kind of thing: love. he’s skittish when he’s unsure, and although romantic dalliances aren’t new to him, approaching a situation where he’s not privy to if you reciprocate or even if you ever could, is new to him. he’s always been the one in control of the dynamic, or at the very least an equal, with both participants on the same page (or thereabouts, see him and bix i suppose.)
the man seems a lil avoidant, like he’s just wary of people in general so i'm not so sure how well he’d respond to hearing from a third party that you had a crush on him, whether that be a close friend of yours or an unfamiliar group of fellow rebels. he’d immediately feel like expectations were being pushed onto him and people were anticipating him to react in a certain way. he doesn’t like that, it feels like someone's yanked open the curtains that were obscuring him from the bright light of perception? so even though he returns your feelings for sure, he’s not going to react well to that kind of direct address/situation and would most likely pull away from you in an attempt to take back the control he feels he’s lost.
in the end i think if one of you were to make a move to further the relationship, it would have to be him because he doesn’t like feeling caught off guard or put on the spot. even then, he’s definitely not confessing the true extent of his fondness for you (even though it totally consumes him, this is a man that feels deeply, just look at those eyes babe).
cassian is someone who expresses their love through actions and deeds, not so much words, at least not immediately, that’s a little too vulnerable for him at the moment.
let's be honest, his version of getting the message across to you is patting you on the shoulder and telling you “that’s really good” as he oversees your group’s blaster training. like the affection is there and you totally get free passes where others don’t, but overall there’s really nothing concrete to suggest he thinks of you as anything other than a friendly comrade, which is probably how he likes it for now.
again, addressing it head on either by yourself or having another person plant the notion into his mind is not the way to go about this. he’s like a stray animal, you see him from across the street and desperately want to pull him close and love up on him, but even the most careful approach will have him skirting away from you in a flash after one wrong move.
honestly the only way to go about this i think is to just let him do his own thing, find a quiet and subtle way let him know you’re open and will be waiting with open arms, and he’ll come to you eventually. i’d say he’d come to you in his own time, and I wouldn't be lying but let's be honest, that first really meaningful look (see elevator scene in rogue one 😩) and pleading of your name is going to come in a moment of high-stakes and danger. what can I say, there's nothing like a life threatening situation in which either one or both of your lives are in jeopardy and desperation and stress infect every decision made, to provoke a momentary lapse in resolve and allow some painfully concealed concern and devotion to seep out of one's every orifice <3.
then there’s the subject of his name. obviously he introduces himself as cassian (unless he’s undercover but that’s a whole other can of worms, you’d get there in the end), so you’ve not really any reason to suspect otherwise until you pose an innocent question about the origins of his name, which leads him to hesitantly surrender his birth name to you. this is only something he’d ever consider doing if he truly, deeply trusted you and felt ready to open up even just a little bit. again, it’s all in his own time, there’s no pushing cassian. psst, don’t be afraid of using his real name, he’ll answer to it…just pick the right moments iykyk
when on missions, clashes tend to happen. cassian believes he knows best (and maybe he does. he probably does lets be fr we’re dumbos), so you’ll every now and again notice him speaking for you or making decisions on your behalf. obviously as an independent entity, this will most likely get on your nerves so it’s an issue that’ll have to be addressed in a sit down session with him. he honestly doesn’t mean it in a controlling way, he probably sees it as him relieving you of any unnecessary burdens, so you’ll have to make it clear to him you’d appreciate it if he lets you stand on your own 2 feet and would, well… for a lack of a better phrase, ‘just butt out’. at the end of the day, you’d rather be equals, partners in crime, not so much some micromanaged talent. come on, it’s understandable cass.
just for funsies... he’s probably unbuttoned his shirt a little more than necessary at least once. just to see if you’d respond to it. he’d seen the style begin to take off amongst the more cocksure pilots (that’s what he tried to tell himself. it was really just fueled by a shy desire to have you look at him like that, like the rebel full of swagger that he knows he isn't). it lasted a grand total of 12 hours before he caught a glimpse of his reflection and cringed a little bit, vanity be damned. the next time you saw him, his shirt was buttoned back up all the way again and he will never acknowledge the fact ever again.

Okay, let's start!
Tumblr media
You met him on Yavin IV. Both of you were new to the Alliance's main base.
Since it was the main base, that meant you both had to train for necessary skills.
From the Alliance's levels, he was 'good to excellent', while your far-lenght shooting skill was not reaching the requirement. You stayed at training ground, after all new recruits leaved, to improve your skill.
Cassian saw you practising. He volunteered to help you, because he had feelings toward you.
It was the impression at first sight.
He couldn't clearly answer what kind of feeling, but as you were around him, smiling at him and saying thanks, he felt like he was teenage boy - who had a first crush - again.
While you had been grateful for his help and feeling like butterflies were in your stomach, especially when he adjusting your stance.
Not only his help drove you crazy, but also his smiles, his touches and his whispers into your ear - how to shoot and hitting right at the target.
As you hit all targets in all rows, you jumped and hugged him with happiness and exciting.
Yes. It made you blushing hard like tomatoes, while Cassian's heart skipped a beat. So, you two bounced away.
"First time is a beginner luck. You have to practise everyday." He said. "Meet me every day after dinner."
You agreed. You and Cassian kept meeting at training ground, every evening.
And after the semi-private session. You returned to your quater with many questions in your head. The big question was; 'Did you fall for him?'
You shaked them off and switched with the thought until you falling asleep.
Now you had been practising every evening for 2 weeks, until he challenging you to shoot all targets within 30 seconds. You accepted and you did it.
Jumping and hugging him again. But this time you both lingered. His face and yours were close, enough to feel the breathes. His brown eyes bared his soul, you could not fight them.
"Thank you so much, Cassian. I think tomorrow I will pass the test with flying flag." You mumbled.
"I think so, but, why do you looking to another way?"
You still looked down at the floor, almost startling, he was tilting your chin up to look at him. His thumb gently fondled your lower lips, your lips part a little.
"Cassian...I-I.." You stuttered, "I don't know what to say..."
"Kassa, call me Kassa."
Cassian's raptured voice got you, finally you gazed upon him, whispering 'Kassa'.
Like the gravity around you two sent the colossus magnets pulling you both to capture each other's lips.
After few seconds, which felt like hours; you both withdrew for air, leaning the temples together with wide smiles and small laughing.
When you passed the test and registered as an officially rebellion officer, Cassian was waiting for you.
You hopped and hugging him tightly. He praised you and guiding you away from the chaos around hangar and commanding table.
"Would you like to move into my quarter?" He asked, kissing your temple.
"You should ask me out before asking me to move in with you." You teased him. This time was his turn that his cheeks were reddening.
He knew too well, your both works were not certain. The missions after would take his own or your life. Also, his first mission as Captain Andor had been assigned, he must leave in three days from now. So, he had to rush things like this.
But you had a point. He should ask you out for an official date. He made up his mind and asking you to survey the ancient ruins on Yavin IV with him.
You accepted with conditions and terms;
"Okay, I'm going out with you, but about moving in--"
"But what?"
"But after your first mission succeed and our third date. Because I need the assurance that you are gonna return back safe and sound. Promise me."
Cassian smiled sweetly, kissed you before he speaking.
"I'm certainly gonna get back to you, my love, I promise."
Then you hugged him again and kissing his jawline, just like a seal to guaruntee the new chapter and adventure in your both lives was full of happiness, joyous and bright futures. Even those three words did not slip out yet.

Rebelcaptain Fix-It-Week day 6
-> how they live after the war
I think if Jyn and Cassian had survived (which they DID! Gareth Edwards told me so himself) that they would have become parents one way or another.
Maybe they would have children of their own, but I like the idea of them adopting war-orphans. And that they would see each other in their children’s eyes.

Thoughts on Andor and Spy Fiction
I want to preface this by saying that I appreciate the aims of Andor, and I do think that the first season succeeded in breaking away from Joseph Campbell's monomyth, while being a clear-eyed examination of how a fascist regime works. Especially from the perspective of ordinary people. But... I am a Rogue One fan first and foremost. And the second season was pretty bad. It was a four season story in one and that's the tip of the iceberg.
I was always bothered by the changes made to Cassian's backstory; they didn't feel right and contradicted what was established in the film. One gets the sense that Chris Weitz, Gary Whitta, and Gareth Edwards had a very different concept of who Cassian was and were likely pulling from different spy fiction than Tony Gilroy. @ruby-red-inky-blue made a good point that Rogue One Cassian is a John le Carré spy, while Andor Cassian is a James Bond/Jason Bourne type. There's a really good book about 1960s British spy novels called Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang by Mike Ripley. One of Ripley's observations is that spy novels of the period could be divided into "spy fantasy" as established by Ian Fleming, and what I call "spy realism," who's king will always be John le Carré.
Bond is the embodiment of post-Imperial British male fantasies. Fleming was an intelligence officer in the Royal Navy who spent WWII as a desk jockey. He was the guy planning the missions that his cousin Sir Christopher Lee (an agent of the Special Operations Executive) would go on. Bond was born from his frustrated desire to get into the field. Thus, Bond is a power fantasy. And Jason Bourne is an American equivalent. I haven't delved deep into Robert Ludlum, but from what I gleaned, he seemed to be a more conspiracy minded writer. Bourne is clearly a product of the revelations about MKUltra. Even then, Bourne plays into American male power fantasies. Bond longs for the days of Empire and sophistication, Bourne embodies the hyper individualism of America.
John le Carré (born David Cornwell) was an intelligence officer like Fleming, but a generation younger - his superiors at MI5 and MI6 would have been Fleming's peers. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold was considered wildly subversive in 1963 because Le Carré wrote characters who were "breathtakingly ordinary." His spies are humans, first and foremost. They don't do any impeccably choreographed fight scenes marred by shaky-cam. There's no gadgets. If anything, it's a lot of detective work - espionage and mysteries are genre cousins, imo. Le Carré spies are good at their jobs, but are world weary and exhausted. Being as spy is presented in the least sexy way possible. Other writers like Len Deighton with his working class heroes would follow, along with tv series like Callan and The Sandbaggers. Bit of a tangent, but the creator of The Sandbaggers, Ian Mackintosh, disappeared in the Gulf of Alaska and there's rumours that he was Soviet of Chinese spy. If you want to learn more, Diamanda Hagan has a great video on Mackintosh and The Sandbaggers.
Unlike the spy fantasies, the appeal of spy realism is the promise of a peak behind the curtain. A lot of these books trade on the author's credentials as an insider and knowledge of how the intelligence world works. Now this can cross over with the spy fantasy realm - I would say that's one reason why The Bourne Identity was so popular was because it had the aesthetics of a spy realism film, but was a spy fantasy through and through. It's a have your cake and eat it sort of franchise. But spy realism isn't meant to be glamorous like spy fantasy. Spy realism doesn't really spectacle the way spy fantasy does. Spy realism simply isn't blockbuster fare, but if done right it wins awards. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney was sold a Bourne style series because, not to be insulting to the Americans, but that approach does appeal to American male power fantasies even more than Bond approach. And definitely more appealing than pure spy realism.
This leads me, ultimately, to where I think things went wrong with Cassian. A lot of ink has been spilled about the troubled production of Rogue One and the issues Edwards, and the rest of the writing team allegedly had with Gilroy. But Rogue One wasn't the first time Gilroy has had issues with other creative teams. He had a falling out with Matt Damon and Paul Greenrass over the Bourne films. It's why the franchise is the way it is now. Now Gilroy and Damon have buried the hatchet, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Greengrass. There was this sort of fragmentation in vision and really should have ended with The Bourne Ultimatum.
Looping this back to Andor, I have a hunch that even than playing with his new favourite character, Tony Gilroy really wanted another crack at Jason Bourne without the interference of Damon and Greengrass. Gilroy's famous for writing "director and actor proof" scripts after all. This is so apparent in the second season where Cassian becomes less of a human and more of a cipher. I will always love Identity the most because outside of his super spy mode, Jason is kind of sweet and dorky. I don't know, that's just my opinion. But as the movies progress, Bourne becomes less and less human. He becomes a force of nature no one can stop. And there's a lot of men who would love to be like that.
The spy who I think Cassian should have been modelled after is Alec Leamas of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. If you haven't read it, or seen the 1965 film with Richard Burton, you should. It's a gorgeous film with amazing acting, honestly one of the last greats of the black and white era. Like it's part of the Criterion Collection. This scene about the nature of spies is so good: "What do you think spies are?".
I have no idea if Edwards, Whitta, and Weitz ever read the book or watched the film when they coming up with Cassian. I'm far more certain they were influenced by The Guns of Navarone (it's another film that if you haven't seen it, you should). the version of him in Rogue One could easily be a Leamas in the middle of his career. Not quite cynical and burnt out enough to give Leamas' last speech, but getting there before he meets Jyn, Chirrut, Baze, and Bodhi. At the same time, Leamas has a great sense of humanity. There's a line early on in the book after Control talks about intelligence organizations needing to be as ruthless as their enemies, and while Leamas agrees with Control, it's for very different reasons. The paragraph goes, "Leamas saw. He saw the long road outside Rotterdam, the long straight road beside the dunes, and the stream of refugees moving along it; saw the little aeroplane miles away, the procession stop and look towards it; and the plane coming in, nearly over the dunes; saw the chaos, the meaningless hell, as the bombs hit the road."
Honestly, Cassian in season one had that sense of humanity, even if his instincts are telling him to run and hide. But the point of season one of Andor was that you can't run and hide from fascism. It's the same thing as that supposed Trotsky quote, "You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you." Season two seems to lack a point for Cassian. He's Cassian Goddamn Andor now who's biggest badass spy in the Rebellion. That Cassian wouldn't be able to get volunteers to join Jyn and the Rogue One crew to go to Scarif. That Cassian couldn't do that out of a budding love for Jyn that reminds me T. E. Lawrence's dedication to Selim "Dahoum" Ahmed, "I loved you, so I drew these tides of men into my hands / and wrote my will across the sky in stars / To earn you Freedom, the seven-pillared worthy house, that your eyes might be shining for me / When we came."

Andor spoilers:
.
.
.
What if the last shot, the scene with Bix took place right when Andor dies. I would bet money she was a bit force sensitive, at least enough to feel him join the force. And their child cries and she comforts it, knowing that Andor's sacrifice was anything but meaningless. And that is devastating and relieving all at the same time.

I've had an unfathomably stressful weekend among my right-wing maternal relatives. Naturally, I'm celebrating my escape with a poll!
I like to headcanon a bunch of my faves as ace or grey-ace, sometimes with reasons that make sense to other people, sometimes out of pure projection (I'm a grey-ace lesbian myself, and this bleeds out into my fandom tastes!).
REMINDER that this isn't (necessarily) a vote for your favorite character, or even your personal favorite-of-all-time ace headcanon. Vote for the character on this list that you would most enjoy imagining as asexual or grey-ace. Feel free to add details about your headcanons for your choice, though!
Details for mine specifically:
Luke Skywalker - aro-ace, misunderstands his natural rapport+psychic bond with Leia as attraction in part because he's never actually experienced real attraction and never will.
Charlotte Lucas - ace lesbian.
Men in Tolkien - grey-ace or ace, depending on the instance (I was tempted to exclude a very few specific individuals like Finwë, Samwise Gamgee, and Eöl, but it was inconvenient, and honestly, I still feel the Tolkien default for dudes is grey-ace).
Spock - gay grey-ace outside of pon farr scenarios (he hates the prospect of pon farr with T'Pring for multiple reasons! he's also aggressively disinterested in Mudd's women, the lady sexbots in "Shore Leave," etc, for ... uh, also multiple reasons).
Romana I - grey-ace.
Athena - very aggressively 100% aro-ace, can and will strike down anyone who doubts this.
Anakin Skywalker - Padmésexual.
Fitzwilliam Darcy - grey-ace, has been slightly attracted to people before, but rarely and not very strongly, until Elizabeth upends his entire experience of sexuality in the space of about 2 weeks. His own feelings only get (far) more intense and foreign to him from there.
Emelye - aro-ace. Rarely have I more strongly wished I could free someone from the story they're trapped in.
Tar-Telperiën - aro-ace, will bring the full weight of royal power to bear on anyone who has a problem with it (following the example of her lesbian great-grandmother Tar-Ancalimë, but refusing to marry at all. goodforher.jpeg)
Moiraine - grey-ace & lesbian. Yes, I know Jordan wants me to believe she's into Thom. je refuse
Cassian Andor - grey-ace, and near the "fully ace" boundary. He's mostly into Jyn and very surprised (and initially dismayed) about it.

Rogue One Everybody Lives AU
