Portland's Must-Try Food Carts: An Interactive Flavor Tour
Portland's food cart scene is a culinary wonderland, offering everything from fiery Nashville hot chicken to refreshing Mexican aguas frescas. I'm creating a guide to four standout carts that showcase the city's incredible food carts. Each stop represents a different culture and flavor profile, complete with must-try dishes, vendor stories, and a map to help readers embark on their own tasting adventure.
1st Stop: Flew The Coop (6035 NE Halsey St)
Must Try: ‘The Frick'n Chick'n’
This cart nails the balance between crispy, juicy chicken and tongue-tingling heat. Their signature sandwich piles a cayenne-spiced fried chicken breast onto a buttery bun with pickles and tangy slaw. The owner sources free range chickens and tweaks his recipe weekly. Pro tip: ask for "medium" heat unless you're brave.
2nd Stop: Krazy Cups & Cafe (1207 SE Hawthorne Blvd)
Must Try: ‘Mango Chile Cup’
Krazy Cups takes the Mexican fruit cup concept to new heights with their ultra-fresh ingredients and creative combinations. Their most popular order - the Mango Chile cup - uses perfectly ripe ataulfo mangoes that are hand-cut daily (never frozen or pre-packaged). The fruit gets tossed with crisp jicama, cucumber, and pineapple before getting dusted with their house-made chili-lime salt that has just the right balance of spicy, salty, and sour.
What really makes them stand out is their selection of premium toppings. You can add everything from chamoy (a sweet-spicy sauce) to tajín (a chili-lime seasoning) to fresh coconut shavings. Their agua frescas are made from real fruit pulp - no syrups or artificial flavors here. The hibiscus flavor is particularly special, made from flowers they steep overnight with cinnamon sticks and just enough sugar to balance the tartness.
3rd Stop: Persian Kebab (1901 SW 4th Ave)
Must Try: ‘Chicken Kebab’
This unassuming cart serves what might be Portland's most authentic Persian kebabs. The magic starts with their chicken koobideh - ground chicken mixed with grated onions, saffron, and a secret blend of spices that the owner learned from his grandmother. The mixture gets hand-pressed onto skewers and grilled over real charcoal (not gas), which gives it that distinctive smoky flavor.
What makes theirs special is the texture - many chicken kebabs turn out dry, but theirs stays incredibly juicy thanks to the onion mixture and careful grilling technique. It comes with fluffy basmati rice that's steamed with butter and saffron, plus grilled tomatoes that get caramelized on the edges. The sumac dusting adds a citrusy note that brightens the whole dish
4th Stop: El Burrito Mojado (7316 N Lombard St)
El Burrito Mojado's carnitas tacos are the stuff of legend among Portland's late-night food crowd. What sets them apart is their cooking method - they simmer the pork in lard with orange peel, cinnamon, and bay leaf for hours until it's fall-apart tender, then crisp it up on the plancha right before serving. The result is carnitas with perfect textural contrast - crispy edges giving way to melt-in-your-mouth meat. Their tortillas are made fresh daily from nixtamalized corn they grind themselves, giving them an incomparable corn flavor and perfect pliability. The salsa verde is made from tomatillos they roast over an open flame, blended with just enough serrano peppers to give it kick without overwhelming the other flavors.
Final Thoughts
Portland’s food carts aren’t just about quick meals. They’re a way to experience the city’s creativity, cultural influences, and dedication to great ingredients. This four-stop tour takes you from spicy Southern comfort to refreshing Mexican street snacks, through aromatic Persian grilling, and finally to late-night Mexican perfection. Each cart brings something unique to the table, proving that some of the best food in Portland isn’t found in fancy restaurants, but in parking lots and food cart pods.

Natural Remedies For Vertigo: Find Relief Without Medication
Vertigo is a spinning sensation that can make you feel dizzy and disoriented. While prescription medications can sometimes help, many people prefer to try natural remedies first for relief from vertigo symptoms. Here are some top natural vertigo treatments to consider.
Ginger and Ginger Tea
Ginger has been used for centuries to ease nausea and vomiting associated with vertigo attacks. The compounds gingerol and shogaol in ginger help relax stomach muscles and have anti-inflammatory effects. Try drinking ginger tea, taking ginger supplements, or eating ginger candies to quell vertigo.
Stay Hydrated
Dehydration can contribute to feelings of dizziness and imbalance. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day, and avoid diuretics like alcohol and caffeine that promote dehydration. Hydrating with electrolyte drinks may also help.
Get Enough Vitamin D
Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to vertigo and balance issues. Spend some time outdoors in the sunshine or take a vitamin D supplement to ensure you're getting adequate amounts. Fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods are also good dietary sources.
Try Cayenne Pepper
The active component in cayenne pepper, capsaicin, may help relieve vertigo by improving blood flow. Add a dash of cayenne to meals or take it in supplement form. Go slowly at first, as too much can upset your stomach.
Explore Herbal Remedies
Certain herbs have been used traditionally to combat dizziness and vertigo. Ginkgo biloba, for instance, is thought to increase blood circulation to the brain and inner ear. Other options are horse chestnut and hawthorn extract.
Focus on Your Posture
Poor posture can aggravate vertigo by disrupting the vestibular system that controls balance and spatial orientation. Be mindful of sitting and standing up straight. Certain exercises like yoga may also improve posture and relieve vertigo.
Get Enough Sleep
Not getting sufficient high-quality sleep can make vertigo worse and increase the likelihood of dizzy spells occurring. Create a calming nighttime routine and aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
Manage Stress Levels
High levels of stress are linked to a higher risk of vertigo episodes. Find ways to reduce anxiety and relax your mind and body through meditation, deep breathing, aromatherapy, and other stress relief techniques.
The next time a bout of vertigo strikes, try turning to these natural remedies before reaching for medication. With some patience and experimentation, you may find natural solutions that effectively minimize your vertigo symptoms.

How to feel comfortable in the autumn-winter season?

Why is it important to change your diet and lifestyle in different periods of the year?
Because our body reacts to the changing seasons, whether we want it or not. Dry skin, sleep problems, joints, nervousness, stuffy nose, inertia, low metabolism are the body's reactions to the environment. All these symptoms are signs of a violation of the balance of the internal and external environment.
It is interesting that a healthy body strives to maintain this balance, since it feels the most resource-intensive state here. We intuitively change our behavior patterns from season to season, following changes in nature. So, in autumn and winter, we want to sleep more, eat hot and high-calorie food, spend time at home with our loved ones.
This is the time when we come to our senses, remember traditions and pay tribute to our ancestors. Active communication with loved ones and interesting people adds to our happiness. The brain receives positive signals from all sensory systems and produces the same endorphins.
Therefore, friendly gatherings in a pleasant company actively affect our mood. This behavior gives us health, supports the nervous and immune systems and saves energy.

If we behave in this way in the summer, most likely we will get a blow to the energy sector. Nature itself gives energy and we actively spend it. The cold season, on the contrary, is a time of energy accumulation. This is peace, mental stability, enhanced nutrition of the body and spirit.
Our inner mood and positive thinking affect the body as a whole, with its immunity and diseases, and the psyche, with its mood. Therefore, an important skill of such thinking is to find positive moments in any situation.
What is important to remember in autumn and winter to preserve energy and health?
This is a time of change and sensitivity, the combination of which gives us mobility, creative mind, ease. Thus, the keys to good health are: nutrition, warmth, hydration, peace and grounding.
Food Stunt:
Proper balanced nutrition is the key to a good mood.
Eat more foods with the following flavors: sweet, sour and salty.
50% raw and 50% cooked food.
In the morning and during the day-a hot drink with lemon, ginger.
In the evening-a light soup. Do not eat too much at night!
Use baked vegetables in salads more often.
Soak the nuts and seeds to reduce their dryness.
Be sure to use warming spices and herbs every day.
Add ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper to the smoothie.
Bright root vegetables: pumpkin, beetroot, carrot-will warm the body and give a feeling of inner warmth.
Eat in a relaxed atmosphere, at the table, and not on the run. Avoiding:
Bitter, tart and astringent tastes.
Dry and light food: chips, snacks, bars.
Cold drinks and food from the refrigerator.
Heavy and fatty foods
Stimulants: excess coffee, strong tea, as well as alcohol.
Fruits and berries. Fresh figs, plums, ripe bananas, grapes, apples and pears are better baked, cranberries, sea buckthorn, blueberries, blueberries, blackberries, viburnum, rowan, hawthorn, rosehip.

Vegetables. Potatoes , carrots, beets, onions, leeks, pumpkin, eggplant, turnips, sweet potatoes, zucchini, string beans, avocado, fennel, cauliflower, pepper, rutabaga, radish, garlic, various herbs, seasonal mushrooms.
Cereals. Basmati rice, quinoa, amaranth, oats, millet, pearl barley, buckwheat.
Seeds. Seeds of sunflower, pumpkin, flax, chia.
Fermented foods. Kimchi, sauerkraut, miso paste, apple and coconut vinegar
Legumes. Mash with rice (kichari) or red lentils (a little), tofu, hummus.
Oils. Ideal — ghee, sesame, almond. Sometimes coconut.
Herbs. Licorice, chamomile, basil, cilantro, sage, tarragon, thyme.
Spices. Fennel, black pepper, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, anise, cumin, cumin, licorice powder, asafoetida, turmeric, fresh ginger root, mustard, nutmeg.
Drinks. Ginger tea, licorice root tea, warm water with lemon, rosehip infusion warming teas, berry teas (sea buckthorn, lingonberry, cranberry). You can also use spices for tea: cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, cumin, fennel.
Natural sweeteners. Stevia, dates, organic honey.
Nuts. almonds, walnuts, slightly salted salted pistachios, pecans, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds.
Activity
Keep your body warm, avoid hypothermia and wind. Warming baths with ginger powder and soda, sauna, steam room, hammam. In addition, the body produces hormones of happiness and joy – endorphins during active training. Well, running for happiness?

Warming oil massage. The massaging movements themselves ground and soothe an anxious mind, moisturize joints and soothe sensitive digestion. Before going to bed, do a self-massage with warm sesame oil or at least spread warm oil on your feet. You can also do a facial massage with almond oil.
Movement. Do not miss the morning exercise: it will warm up the body, prepare the systems for work and add cheerfulness. Cardio: running, cycling, swimming, trampolining, dancing, aerobics, walking.
Yoga. Active yoga is good without overexertion (complexes of medium length).
Meditations of all kinds. Take some time to be alone with yourself, breathe and enjoy. Concentration on the breath calms thoughts, regulates feelings. Just 2-5 minutes – and you feel more balanced.
Aromatherapy. Use sweet, heavy and warm oils: basil, cinnamon, citrus, clove, frankincense, lavender, pine, sage, vanilla, nerol, jasmine. Oils can be used to flavor the air in the house, as well as to lubricate body parts. If this is a concentrated essential oil, then it should be diluted with some basic one, otherwise you can get a burn.
Daily routine, regime, planning. Start waking up, going to bed, exercising and eating at the same time.
More bright and saturated tones. Creating a warming atmosphere. Wear cozy clothes in warm colors-red, orange, yellow. In the same colors, it is desirable (if possible) to choose the tone of the apartment and workplace. Gray and brown colors can be used, but deep black is best avoided.

Comfort and peace. The day becomes shorter, and your energy level decreases. This is natural. We resist because we are surrounded by a society that is hungry for stimulation and action. Try to spend the afternoon in peace, or at least some time before going to bed.
If you have trouble sleeping, reduce your contacts with gadgets two hours before lights out. But there should be more hugs and caring touches in autumn and winter.
When you wake up in the morning, wash your face, do exercises and have a delicious and healthy breakfast. Arrange a meeting with friends on the weekend, plan a trip to the gym, buy a plane ticket, if there is such an opportunity. Play your favorite song on the guitar, and when leaving the house, hug your loved one and wish him a good day, take an umbrella and smile at the rain.
