From Claves Records I have received a pre-release copy of Pablo de Naverán's 2021 recording of Bach's 6 Suites for Cello Solo (BWV 1007 – 1012) for reviewing. The hardcopy recording is due for release on 2023-12-15. While I receive far more CDs for reviewing than I can digest, I decided to review this one. Not by itself, though, but as part of the extensive comparison of recordings of the cello suites that I recently started. That's an exception, as usually adding to existing comparisons is way too laborious. The media information and general description is available in the recently posted Comparison Summary, at
I have only reviewed the Suite No.1 in G major, BWV 1007, so far. The review of Pablo de Naverán's performance is found at

I decided to rewrite and expand one of my earliest CD reviews, from 11 years ago, and it was well worth the effort! — Sonatas for Harpsichord (Cembalo concertato) and Violin, BWV 1014-1019 — Comparing recordings with Andrew Manze & Richard Egarr (1999), Rachel Podger & Trevor Pinnock (2000), Viktoria Mullova & Ottavio Dantone (2007), Isabelle Faust & Kristian Bezuidenhout (2016)
