it's quite interesting to me that our openness and extreme self acceptance is what makes us so polarizing. we radically change peoples' lives for the better when it clicks, but if you have judgements about us or our beliefs... you end up in a social version of a sandpaper conveyor belt.
#m#v#p:dess#this also explains why our fallouts with former allies can often be so messy -- it ends up being very messily revealing about what#hangups you have and where your moral boundaries lie. and how you handle social difficulty.#being our friend means coming to appreciate a lot of idiosyncrasies. weird beliefs. but also a coherent worldview that#centralizes materialism and personal validation. we are transparent and opaque simultaneously. this upsets people.#and perhaps the most crushing blow to those who have problems with us: we do not yield easily to social pressure as we're already#under quite a lot of it. we do not mind being obtuse. or being controversial. or being overly private or open as we see fit.#to us. there is no self worth being if it's not at least a pure fraction of a pure whole. i will 'self-censor' insofar as i selectively#choose not to disclose certain things in certain places. if you know me privately. you will learn everything quickly.#this is explicitly intentional and a social benefit to us: we trade being upfront for self-selection. it filters people out easily.
