Summary: Tigress finds Devineaux. She has a proposition for him.

She'd accidentally bumped into him one day when sightseeing on a tour. He'd had his hands in his pockets, looking straight ahead, wondering how to catch Carmen. Well, Tigress knew Carmen's weakness. She'd seen it when she'd playfully threatened Devineaux with her claws. Carmen cared too much.

"Oh, hello there, Inspector!" Tigress said, looking like she needed help. "Do you think you could help me out? There's this dangerous criminal stealing things around here. Her name is Carmen Sandiego!"

Devineaux immediately turned around.

"Did you say Carmen Sandiego...?"

"Yes. And I have a plan on how we can catch her!"

"W-well, ah!" Devineaux said with a stutter. "It was easy, really..."

So he began to explain the specifics of his latest caper. It was ridiculously easy for Tigress to wrap him around her finger.

Two years since he'd revealed to have led her on.

Two years since she'd sworn off love forever.

Paper Star growled, crushing the paper airplane on the ground.

Finally, he came to. Looking around, he saw Julia beside him. He was squeezing her hand.  

"Julia," he said. "You were here for me?"

She chuckled with a hum. This guy was cute, and he liked origami. Perhaps they could talk more?

"Your form isn't too bad. Here, I'll show you how to make one that's really sharp!"

This is the first of the Super Sons series, the series is really short but gold nonetheless. No Super Sons comic that I don’t like but this one is my favorite. They still are knocking heads and refuse to call each other partners but they grow and learn to be heroes together.

They slowly start to get used to each other and this comic shows that Damian isn’t just straight up mean but is starting to somewhat ‘like’ Jon.

The last main Super Sons comics. This one is fine but I love the others so much. These comics are essential to know Jon and Damian period, it’s the main comics of each others story and in a way they are important to each others development.

• Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons (2022)

Now after all that reading treat yourself to a movie because Jon and Damian got their own movie. This is what started Jon and Damian for a lot of people and this is probably where a lot of you are from. This movie is great and fun. They made Damian wayyy nicer than in the comics and their friendship easier.

Please find and read this. It’s so cute. I love it so much.

They make a rock band in the beginning, its so cute.

This is such a good series, and story in general please read it. DC peaked with this one and its so angsty. I don’t care what comphet was happening, Jon was there for Damian like no one else. I think Damian ends up with Cassie which is weird to me because Damian has never shown interest in anyone before but I excuse it since it’s not really gonna happen again since they were in a relationship just for the story to be more high stakes and sad. Jon and Damian’s relationship was at the forefront and for comic book readers DCeased made people see the potential in Jondami.

• DC’s Terror Through Time (2022)

This is so cute, please read this. It’s a halloween special and they switch uniforms <3!!

• DC Saved by the Belle Reve (2022)

They help a nonbinary person navigate school and it’s so damn cute.

• The age up incident.

(Disclaimer: You can pretend this never happens and I wouldn’t blame you for doing that.) A writer named Brain Micheal Bendis comes into the writers room for DC and ages up Jon in short. The story is that Superman goes missing (He travels to War World and gets stuck there) and Jor-El comes back to meet Jon and he takes him on a trip to explore space, then they get trapped in a wormhole, Jon gets stuck on Earth-3 and has to fight Ultraman. He’s stuck in a volcano for five or six years and becomes seventeen (we think) when he comes back. This was sad to me because it took away all the potential interactions for Jon and our ability to see him grow up, it was rushed and purposely so. Jon takes up the title of Superman somehow and starts to date some guy named “Jay Nakamura.”

• Superman: Son of Kal-El (2021) Issues: #1, #6, #14, and #15.

He does get a boyfriend here and I think it’s amazing the fact he simply gets a boyfriend but no one really likes his bf so… and the are real reasons why Jay as a character is problematic BUT if you just don't want to see him with someone else than every time you see a pink haired twink, quickly skip.

• Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent

• Super Sons (2017) Special

This is them reuniting after the age up and it shows how Damian reacts to it. I can’t actually find this and if anyone can please let me know where it is. I can only find bits and pieces of it scattered across the internet. All you need to know is that he doesn’t like the age up anymore than us since he says “I miss my friend.” which is really sad to me because the age up ultimately really hurts what people like about their dynamic as well as tarnish Jon’s character almost completely.

Tomorrow is my one-year anniversary returning to writing fanfic. This is going to be a bit of a sappy post reflecting on the last year and celebrating some of my wins/new things I've challenged myself to do.

October 17, 2023 is when I started to write the very first chapter of Burn Forever with Me. I had finished the ACOTAR series about two weeks before and had spent those two weeks reading all the Elucien fic I could. I could feel I had a story in me, so I set out to write it in a month thinking that would be it and I would get it out of my system.

It had been a while since I had written. From 2006-2012 I wrote fanfic very regularly across a few different fandoms. Most of those stories can't be found online anymore. I took a three year hiatus from my Big Bang Theory multichapter fic at the end of 2012, and didn't finish it until 2015 when I had a burst of motivation. I didn't write again until another burst of motivation hit me (Game of Thrones ending) and wrote another one-shot in 2019.

By this point in 2023, I kind of thought my fanfic writing days were behind me. I didn't expect this new resurgence in my life that came about because of this series/this ship. I've tried so many new things writing for this fandom and pushed my writing in directions I never anticipated.

Since last year I have... -published 441,592 words. -published 20 fics (a mix of multichapter and one-shots) -completed four multichapter long fics (huge for me because I used to abandon multichapter fics all the time in my first era) -Written for several ships, including rare pairs, not just my OTP which is all I did in the past -Created many OCs, including my focal OC Alexius. Up until now I thought I was kind of hopeless when it came to writing original characters. -Wrote fanfic for three appreciation weeks -Wrote MM smut for the first time, and lots of it. I have been reading MM smut for two decades, but did not have a calling to write for a specific ship until Eris x Alexius -Co-written two fics with @crazy-ache -pushed myself in what styles of writing I tackle, including writing epistolary for the first time as well as challenging myself to write action/fight scenes which always scared me in the past -world building in general also used to scare me and now I think it feels so much more approachable as I've been filling in SJM's holes. -I think my smut writing has evolved a lot too. While I wrote smut in the past and I think I established what my writing voice/style was for smut, I have really had the opportunity to solidify it and try it in different scenes and contexts. I feel a lot more confident than I did back then.

I wanted to highlight these because I think as writers, we are often too hard on ourselves, and it helps to put into context all of the ways we've improved if we are mindful of our progress. I definitely encourage you to sit down one day and remind yourself of all the new things you've done from your starting place. Making this list really put into context all the ways I've changed as a writer in just a year.

I still have a lot more I want to do and new challenges to face in the next year. I hope if you read this, it does help to show you that you can take long breaks and even if you take a step back from writing, you will always be a writer and it'll always be a hobby you can return to and improve your skills, no matter how long its been.

Code July 2024 — Day 2 — Favorite Ship

I mean these two have been in my heart for a long, long time, so I had to make at least one drawing for this Code July with Oddlita (because there is never enough Oddlita)

Also, could you believe it's the 10th Code July?! Unfortunatelly I wasn't there each year but I really want to do at least a few fanarts which will be a huge challenge not only because I jumped into 2 other events that are happening in July too, but also because I planned for quick an easy ink illustrations, similar to what I did in 2018 and 2019, but the ink said "fuck you" so eeeeh the Day 1 art with William is absolutelly ruined, I need to re-trace the sketch and redraw it in watercolors.

Great start, what can I say. But hey, at least I have an art with Oddlita. (Actually I've made the sketch when the calendar was posted, and I shared it in one group chat and said "oh it would look cool in watercolor but I decided I wanna do everything in ink, maybe I'll redraw this one again later" LOL)

This bit of lure pertaining to how Bruno and I chose to be a couple, has been something that I've longed to create since 2019. But life constantly found a way to prevent it, leaving me with little motivation to take up the challenge of actually making all the panels. BUT TODAY IT'S FINALLY HERE! and LET ME TELL YOU! MAN am I proud of this! I first started self-shipping with Bruno back in 2019 and often wondered how are relationship would fair in canon. I want to pour more of my love for Bruno into projects like this one. Because the results are something tangible and here in this world, even if he cannot be. It's a proof of our love~ and serves as a personal reminder of our choice to keep choosing each other no matter the circumstances.

Tokitae & Kiska

Reading about the history of these two orcas was a lot to take in, and they're not the only two who went through these experiences. The story of Tokitae absolutely broke me.

Trying to summarize it without somehow lessening the importance is also a challenge. I don't want to make this into some kind of depressive spiral, but I also feel its important to share, you know?

The picture itself was to show how small and dirty their tanks were, though they didn't live near each other (Kiska in Canada, and Tokitae was in Miami) the pattern was pretty much the same, wasnt it?

Kiska

Kiska was captured in 1979 in the North Atlantic Ocean when she was about three years old. She was sold to Marineland in Canada, alongside another killer whale named Keiko who was later sold to an aquarium in Mexico (wild fact: that is the same Keiko who starred in Free Willy)

She was kept for breeding purposes and had five calves in total, all who died too soon. Marineland made a deal with Seaworld, to borrow one of their orca males as a breeding partner for Kiska. But he was too young at the time and so the park owners decided it would be a chance for the two to bond first. Things were taking too long and Seaworld wanted their orca back, and Marineland refused. The issue was taken to court and Sea World won, and their orca was flown back to their park. It would be the last killer whale Kiska would ever see. From 2011 up to her death in 2023 she remained completely isolated in her tank. She was nicknamed the World's Loneliest Orca ;__;

In 2019, the Canadian Parliament passed the Ending the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins Act which made Kiska the last orca in captivity in Canada. Besides banning future attempts of putting cetaceans in captivity, the act also prohibits animals still in captivity to be used for entertainment or breeding purposes.

A man named Phil Demers, also called the Walrus Whisperer, brought attention to the conditions Kiska lived in. Videos of her swimming in circles, floating aimlessly, and even bashing her head against the tank walls went viral. Kiska's situation sparked a lot of conversation about the treatment of killer whales in captivity. Orcas are extremely intelligent and emotionally complex animals who live in social groups and this turned a spotlight on the cruelty of the industry and a call to figure out more humane solutions.

Unfortunately help didn't come fast enough for Kiska, and she passed away from a bacterial infection in March 2023. The biggest issue was coming up with ways to provide sanctuaries for whales and dolphins still in captivity. Groups like the Whale Sanctuary Project are working to model a seaside sanctuary in Nova Scotia for orcas and other cetaceans who can't go back into the wild. Sea Life Trust in Iceland has created the first beluga sanctuary with with Whale and Dolphin Conservation, and their first residents (named Little White and Little Grey) arrived back in spring of 2020.

Tokitae

She had a similar story like Kiska. She was a southern pacific killer whale who was captured in the 70's when she was only three or four, then she was shipped to a seaquarium in Miami. There she was penned with a male orca named Hugo who was caught a couple of years earlier. For a time they were kept separated in fear they wouldn't get along. But Hugo was also a pacific resident and when they were heard calling to each other they were put together.

Over the years she was trained and performed with Hugo. Tokitae's name was changed to Lolita, according to he owners they "didn't want people to know where she came from." She also became pregnant several times but Tokitae never delivered a live calf.

In 1980 Hugo died from a brain aneurysm and despite that, Tokitae was pushed to perform. It was said she would look for Hugo but the owners brushed it off saying she got over the loss. Since then the seaquarium had her paired off with several tank companions including a pilot whale, a risso's dolphin, a short beaked common dolphin and several pacific white sided dolphins.

In 2019 the Luumi Nation called for Tokitae's release. They gave her the name Sk'aliCh'elh-tenaut which meant that she is a member of Sk’aliCh’elh, the resident family of orcas who call the Salish Sea home. And two Luumi women invoked the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) which calls for the protection and return of Native American human remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural patrimony.

The Luumi Nation consider killer whales to be their kin, therefore Tokitae belonged with them and in her natal waters in the Salish Sea. Several members of the Luumi Nation made comparisons of Tokitae's situation to that of native children being stolen and indoctrinated. It was their duty to bring her back.

The Miami Seaquarium came under legal fire in 2021. A 17 page report was released by the USDA about the conditions Tokitake and other cetacean residents were living under. Such as ignoring the vet's advice in letting Toki rest, instead the trainers continued to make her perform high energy behaviors which ended up causing Tokitae to injure her jaw. Both she and the dolphins were fed rotting fish. And Toki developed eye injuries due to the highly chlorinated water in the tank.

In 2022, The Dolphin Company took full ownership of the Miami Seaquarium, and Tokitae was retired and taken off display, mainly to help her recover from the jaw injury she sustained earlier. Then in 2023, the seaquarium partnered with an organization called Friends of Tokitae to return her to the Salish Sea. With the guidance of the Luumi Nation the plan was to build a sea pen which would take 18 to 24 months. Tokitae would be safe, but never be wild again, as the main concern was acclimatizing her and the dangers of exposing any infections or diseases she carried to the already endangered pacific resident orcas.

But like Kiska, Tokitae passed away in her tank in August of 2023 due to old age and other chronic illnesses she had. She spent over fifty years in captivity. Her ashes were given to the Luumi Nation and they were taken to a sacred spot and spread in a traditional water ceremony in September.

It was said the southern resident killer whales came together in a super pod the day Tokitae died.

JK and JM decision to enlist together.

​​⁠JK and JM felt it was in their best interest to serve together. This speaks to the bond they have, whatever their relationship is or is not. They both knew that tattoos could limit life choices for them, yet they still chose to ink themselves. During the live, it was Jimin who spoke about wanting to join the Special Forces. JK seemed to mumble something too. The unit they were speaking of is the ROK Special Forces unit that reports directly to the President similar to the US Army Green Berets or Navy Seals. Both JM and JK have the physical abilities, martial arts skills, MMA skills, etc to do this level of training. Tattoos ARE ALLOWED in this unit. The issue is it requires a 4 year commitment and serving potentially around the world. This unit is for a career soldier. The Unit V is enlisting with is Special Operations/Military Police. This unit only requires an 18 month commitment and yes, does not allow visible tattoos. Remember all members have tattoos.

Jimin and JK had to apply months ago for this companion program. It was a three stage process that took several months for approval. They most likely knew for years they were going to enlist together. Jungkook got his first tattoo in Sept 2019. All members had planned to enlist in the military in 2020, before COVID killed those plans. JK had to know when he got his very visible tattoo what the limitations were regarding the military, yet he chose to move forward. Even back then, he could not serve for 4 years. He and JM had most likely decided back then they were going to do the companion program. In 2019/2020, they were perceived to be much closer back during that time, than they are in 2022/2023. Yet, we now know how close they really were/are this year, in spite of limited public outings.

They both had the opportunity to apply to a multitude of units that would accept their tattoos, individually. However, they were limited in the units that accept the companion program. This should tell the naysayers that Jimin and Jungkook have a tight bond. They gave up other units that would have been a lot more comfortable and safer (locating land mines) if they had enlisted separately. We may never know the true reason for the joint enlistment, but obviously they are close friends who love and depend on each other. This has nothing to do with shipping, but simply the bond between them. They are looking out for each other verses meeting individual goals or challenges.

If Chief Justice John Roberts hoped to save the judiciary by burning it down, he badly miscalculated. Just a week after the Supreme Court’s five male conservatives kicked the legs out from under a respected trial judge to save the Trump administration from the consequences of defying a court order, we are back on the precipice of a disastrous constitutional crisis.

Perhaps the justices aimed to protect the judiciary by swerving to avoid a head-on collision with the executive. Maybe they hoped that President Trump would take the win and trim his dictatorial sails. But this is Dr. Strangelove, not Speed, and no amount of vague harrumphing by the high Court was ever going to persuade Major Kong to stand down.

Thanks to the Supreme Court’s fecklessness, the judiciary is now squarely back on a collision course with a Trump-shaped iceberg. But this time, instead of planeloads of faceless migrants, the case involves just one man: Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a husband and father from Maryland, whom the government deported to a Salvadoran torture prison despite a court order barring just that.

“Turn the planes around”

The first confrontation involved planeloads of migrants deported pursuant to the Alien Enemies Act (AEA), a statute associated with some of the most sordid chapters in American history, including Japanese internment. The law empowers the president to deport foreign citizens in times of war, and so Trump simply declared that Venezuela has invaded the US by dispatching members of the Tren de Aragua gang as shock troops, and began rounding up Venezuelan immigrants more or less at random.

The fact that we are patently not at war didn’t matter to the Supreme Court. Nor did the revelation that 90 percent of the men deported had zero criminal record. In a hastily drafted order, the five conservative justices rebuffed a challenge to the AEA deportations, airily suggesting that anyone fearful of being deported should just file an individual habeas corpus petition … from a detention cell, in the few hours between when they’re informed they’re being moved and when they’re hustled onto a plane and cast into a windowless dungeon with no access to counsel.

This had the desired effect of heading off a confrontation between Judge James Boasberg and the government, which flatly refused to explain why it deported the men after the judge ordered them not to. But along the way the Supreme Court did require the administration to give some process to AEA deportees.

“AEA detainees must receive notice after the date of this order that they are subject to removal under the Act,” the majority wrote. “The notice must be afforded within a reasonable time and in such a manner as will allow them to actually seek habeas relief in the proper venue before such removal occurs.”

Even this appears to have been too big an ask for the Trump administration, which refused to commit to giving AEA deportees even 24 hours notice before shipping them to a Salvadoran gulag.

Abrego Garcia

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was on one of the three deportation flights out of Harlingen, Texas, on March 15, the day Judge Boasberg issued the TRO. But he was not one of the Venezuelan AEA deportees.

Abrego Garcia fled his native El Salvador in 2011 when he was 16, fearful that he would be murdered by members of MS-13. He lived with his US citizen brother in Maryland until 2019, when he was picked up by a local cop and handed over to ICE on suspicion of being a member of MS-13. The cop (who has his own credibility issues) based that claim on nothing more than a Chicago Bulls jersey and a “tip” from a “confidential informant” that Abrego Garcia was a leader of MS-13 in New York — a place he had never lived.

Abrego Garcia was then detained based on the informant’s tip, but eventually a judge determined that he would likely be killed if returned to El Salvador and barred his removal to that country. Since 2019, Abrego Garcia has lived a quiet life with his American wife and children in suburban Maryland, supporting his family as a union sheet metal worker.

Last month, he was picked up by ICE and flown to El Salvador, the one country where it was illegal for the US government to send him. His wife had no idea where he was and only found out when Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele tweeted a music video of the prisoners being shaved and herded like cattle in the notoriously dangerous jail.

Abrego Garcia’s family sued, and Judge Paula Xinis ordered the Department of Homeland Security to get him back by Monday, April 7. The Supreme Court administratively stayed that order through April 10, when it produced four nebulous paragraphs ordering the government “to ‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador.”

But the Court admonished Judge Xinis to “clarify” her instruction to “effectuate” Abrego Garcia’s return “with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs.” Affecting the tone of a harried vice principal called in to settle a teenage squabble, the Court also instructed the government to “share what it can concerning the steps it has taken and the prospect of further steps” to bring Abrego Garcia home.

Blowback

If this admonition was supposed to chasten the administration into claiming victory and bringing this guy home, it failed spectacularly.

First the White House launched an all-out campaign to smear Abrego Garcia.

“This was the right person sent to the right place,” Stephen Miller insisted on Fox, disavowing the sworn testimony of multiple government officials calling the deportation in violation of the court order an accident.

“This was just one of those examples of an individual that is a MS-13 gang member, multiple charges and encounters with the individuals here, trafficking in his background, was found with other MS-13 gang members — very dangerous person, and what the liberal left and fake news are doing to turn him into a media darling is sickening,” Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem blustered (again) on Fox.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt repeated that baseless claim from the podium, while crowing that the Supreme Court had unanimously agreed that the government never had to bring Abrego Garcia back.

The Neville Chamberlain strategy

Back before Judge Xinis, the government’s courtroom posture has been similarly defiant. DOJ lawyer Drew Ensign insisted that he could not possibly comment on steps that the government had taken to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return, suggesting that the question violated the separation of powers and “deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs” mandated by the Supreme Court.

The judge ordered daily updates describing:

(1) the current physical location and custodial status of Abrego Garcia; (2) what steps, if any, Defendants have taken to facilitate his immediate return to the United States; (3) what additional steps Defendants will take, and when, to facilitate his return.

The DOJ’s threadbare responses ignored the second and third questions, curtly asserting that Abrego Garcia “is alive and secure,” and “detained pursuant to the sovereign, domestic authority of El Salvador.”

As evidence of the US government’s inability to secure his return, they linked to a YouTube video of the Oval Office press conference where President Bukele smirked, “How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? Of course I’m not going to do it. The question is preposterous.”

The government also un-admitted that it deported Abrego Garcia by mistake. The new line is that he is “no longer eligible for withholding of removal because of his membership in MS-13, which is now a designated foreign terrorist organization.” Essentially, the president claims to have dissolved a judicial order by executive fiat.

But most importantly, the Justice Department seized on the Supreme Court’s weasel words as proof that, while the administration can’t do anything to stop Abrego Garcia from coming home, it has no obligation to affirmatively do anything to make it happen.

“Reading ‘facilitate’ as requiring something more than domestic measures would not only flout the Supreme Court’s order, but also violate the separation of powers,” they argued.

This position is somewhat undercut by the simultaneous declaration that, if Abrego Garcia magically got himself out of the torture prison we’re paying to hold him in and showed up at the US border, “DHS would take him into custody in the United States and either remove him to a third country or terminate his withholding of removal because of his membership in MS-13, a designated foreign terrorist organization.”

Calm before the storm

At a hearing yesterday, the battle lines sketched out in Judge Boasberg’s DC courtroom were redrawn 13 miles away in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Judge Xinis ordered expedited discovery on what the government has done to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return, including depositions of several DHS officials.

Emboldened by the Supreme Court, the Trump administration has made it clear that it does not intend to comply.

“It was 9-0, in our favor, against the district court ruling, saying no district court has the power to compel the foreign policy function of the United States,” Miller boasted at the Bukele press event on Monday.

And so American democracy is back in exactly the same parlous position as two weeks ago, waiting for the president to provoke a constitutional crisis by openly defying a court order. This is the disaster the Supreme Court tried to avoid by undermining Judge Boasberg, Judge Xinis, and the entire federal judiciary. Only now the administration is more confident than ever that their buddies at SCOTUS will blink and bail them out.

Whatever the chief justice thought he was doing to protect democracy has made the eventual confrontation much more dangerous.

Online Communities

Yahoo Groups (2003-2006)

I started off my earlies experiences on yahoo groups. There was a huge SG one that was easy to get lost in and I think I posted my first fics there. But I quickly veered into a space called Gateship, which was a yahoo group led by @rowandarkstar, and I remember it deliberately being a space with no ship wars. It was a “ship and let ship” space and it was so great. Everyone was so supportive and there was none of the yucker bits of fandom and it really showed me what fandom can be like at its best.

LiveJournal (2006-2013)

I eventually followed the Gateship people over to LiveJournal, very reluctantly, if I recall and it ended up being my favorite community space I’ve ever been on. For all I can barely remember how LiveJournal even worked at this point, it really was an amazing space. I loved the communities and the prompt fests and the sheer amount of writing challenges and exchanges and fests we had there. It really was so conducive to creativity and experimentation. I also really loved all the comment fics that were so common there. I’ve never really managed to find a space as welcoming and creatively stimulating since.

Tumblr (2013-?)

I moved over to Tumblr when everyone had finally abandoned LiveJournal, but it was also during the time I was transitioning from writing SG-1 to writing Harry Potter fics. As cool as the endless stream of visuals and inspiration was, it was also a very isolating experience. I could not for the life of me figure out how to find community on such a site, especially when I was trying to build connections in a new fandom. I did eventually connect with a core group of people there and I am so grateful to them.

Discord (2019-?)

I did go over to discord at some point, but honestly, it terrifies me and I have never found a rhythm there in the six years I have tried. I have managed to make some small dm groups there that are awesome, and the team I had for my MDZS Big Bang fest was so, so amazing.
