#codacheetah #my art #pokemon #pkmn #vulpix #fennekin #ok so #idk preface i'm not a modern pokemon design hater this is not hater art #but i do think. the style shift progression of pokemon has been fascinating to watch.#a lot of early pokemon particularly the first mmmmm two generations were relatively sensible proportionally #a lot of pokemon that feel like animals but to the left.#and as time has worn on pokemon i think have kind of shifted away from 'balanced' design towards 'cartoon' design #like fennekin. ridiculously huge head with big huge eyes and dramatic fur tufts and tiny little neck and body #compare to vulpix which is also a ridiculous chibi animal mind you. but its proportions are more grounded in reality #head that's only Mildly too big for its body and smaller eyes and visible paws (vs. fennekin's stumps)#i've always felt like fennekin and vulpix is like the kind of microcosm of pokemon designs shifting to be sleeker and more exagerrated #where it's so apparent since they have the same basic design idea #hell you can kind of see it with alolan vulpix. slimmer neck smaller body bigger eyes #this post is kind of meaningless i've just been thinking abt it lately #pokemon no longer has a consistent artstyle. there are many galarian and paldean pokemon that i dont think ever would have made it in rby #and many early gen pokemon look visibly different to the new because they are more simplistic and understated #this is not a bad thing it is just a Thing. it's the natural growth of a franchise where they have to reach further with ideas and designs #with each generation. because there's 1000 of these fuckers. we are long past Basic Fox and Basic Bird and Basic Bug #every pokemon has to be uniquely charismatic and recognizable when they have so much competition #anyways all this to say i think vulpix and fennekin look ridiculous standing next to each other but in a vacuum? both designs are nice

One of the interesting bits of trying to resume working on the game after so long is looking back at my ancient Draft Placeholder versions of an image from 4 yrs ago trying to remember what the hell I meant back then, to hopefully interpret it into some more final (ish..) form of the same thing .. making slow progress lol

#At this point I've decided it's just a consistent design decision to have the sketchy slightly wonky sort of art ghbjj #I simply don't have the digital art skills/tools/patience (mostly that) to do 100% digital things and have a Clean Polished Professional #Neat Looking Perfect Crisp Lines sort of thing like one would see in most games. I'm drawing everything in pencil half decently (not strict #ly making sure every line is straight or that the perspective even makes sense) and then scanning it in and coloring it on the computer #and that's about it. In another world I could hire an artist or two to do professional backgrounds and charcter art or etc. - but as I am #a mere penniless peasant hermit with functioning issues who has to do every aspect of everything themselves - I'm just going to do #what is possible within the time frame/my ability/etc. and then just be like ''ah you see! actually this is intentional~ it has a homemade #crafty hand drawn sort of charm about it - yes? this was the direction all along!!'' LOL #Which for the record I'm not like complaining that it's necssarily Bad or anything - more just I suppose not the Professional Polished #style you Typically see in a lot of things - again the like - sketchy unclean lines of it all.#(like I think usually people use some sort of symmetry tool to make sure that all sides of a box are neat and clean and have that #Professional Game Art type of feel about them - rather than 'this is a scan of scraggily pencil lines in which I did not even bother to use #a ruler or try to get them all that even' lol). So it's not that it's BAD really.#just I think.. perhaps ''unconventional'' compared to the examples of other #games I've looked at. BUT. the point is to convey an idea. I think your art has failed if you do not convey a concept properly. But so #long as it meets your purposes and is not SOO cluttered/scribbly that nobody can even tell what's going on (unless that IS your intention)#then like.. I think it's fine. You can tell a house is a house even if it's not polished. No worries. (<convincing myself)#ANYWAY.. also 'Nanyevimi Market Quest' is still SUCH a placeholder name but I genuinely can never think of anything else so #I've just been going with it for now ToT... There's no distinct actual throughline story/plot so there's no 'theme' to base a title #around. Kind of like how 'The Sims' is just called the sims because naming it like 'Sims: Downfall Of Pleasantview' (one of the #towns in TS2 i think) would be a weird misname since what happens in the game totally depends on what you choose to do with it #So you can't really name it anything THAT specific (a player might not even choose to have a house in Pleasantview. what then? etc).#So it's just like..uh well...GENERALLY speaking.. everyone is uh.. on a personal quest..vaguely.. which takes place in a Market street full #of shops.. and you are mostly talking to shopkeepers... BUT it's not just a Market Quest since it's also in a fantasy world.. so we need to #give the fantasy world name.. and that's about it. I'm just at a loss for anything else. Maybe the like 2 and a half playtesters I #manage to scrounge up will have better ideas ghhh.. 'Nanyevimi Quest: Get To Know Some Shopkeepers' 'Find A Job In Fantasy World' you could #say 'Market Adventure' but some would argue just having a bunch of conversations and wandering around is not much of a real adventure.#don't want to set people up for thinking there's any drama or combat or anything. 'Do Menial Errands For Mentally Ill Elves Simulator' ghjg #(also sidenote: the '''chibi'' style versions of the characters on the menu screen....EVIL.. that style is SOOO hard for me to draw in for #some reason.. I just can't get the proportions right/have trouble fully ''simplifying'' the design.. took me HOURS lol... aUGHh)

though the departed have long since transcended to a realm that is beyond mortal reach, traces of their existence continue to remain left behind like the feathers of a snow-winged goose that has taken flight. aside from his vision—its rekindled permanence forever a stark reminder of the burden that must be carried—amélie also harbors another relic of ███ and unlike the former, its presence harbors much more fond memories from a simpler time.

when she was still a child, on his fifteenth birthday, the boy had urgently roused her from sleep in the dead of night, showing her two tickets for a performance happening in the opera epiclese that very day. hesitant to leave the comforts of her bed, the boy’s enthusiasm—which had been a rare sight in regards to his otherwise stoic demeanor—was difficult to ward off. and so, in silent acquiescence, amélie would accompany ███ to the court of fontaine, lending an ear to his passionate musings, which was an uncommon indulgence for him before arriving at their destination.

the opera house felt larger than life itself back then; regal halls decorated with oil paintings gilded in gold, polished marble floors, and chandeliers that dangled high from the ceiling, sparkling in their opulence. amélie won’t forget how out of place she had felt the entire time, especially once they had taken their seats on those velvet chairs that felt as though they were made to sit royalty. but as the lights dimmed and a ballerina, alongside her violinist took to the stage—accompanied by a fellow orchestra—amélie was no longer just a little girl sitting in the theater.

following that night, ███ had insisted they learn the piece, with the hopes of one day getting to perform it for themselves. he would play the violin and she would play the role of the ballerina. they would practice for countless hours along the shorelines of petrichor playing until either his fingers grew calloused or her legs became too sore to move. in the end.. they never would get to play that piece together and their only audience had ever been the pale moon above.

years later, amélie now returns to that spot on the shorelines, unaccompanied and with a violin in hand—his violin. it has remained untouched for quite some time now, strings taut from a lack of attunement and the hollowness from within more apparent than when he had held it. but here on this familiar stage, where the waves slowly fall in and out of the tide and the moon offers its faint gaze upon her just as it did all those years ago, the lonely ballerina takes hold of the violin once more.

#ive read it like 3-4 times already online but now i have a physical copy :)#my new project is to go through w colored pencil and color in all of their tunics. for fun #i do think its funny how they r supposed to be identical except for tunic color.#but it is a black and white manga. got me saying things like “see this halftone is totally blue”#they r all drawn slightly differently though. red has big chibi eyes and a smaller nose #vio has much smaller pupils and no highlight in his eyes. green has a dark undershirt #its fun i like the four swords manga a lot. which is why i now have a physical copy!!

I love reading back on Cheezi learning the truth about Scar because while yeah learning you know everything you thought was right is wrong is quite a shocker he is used to that so in the end what really bothers him the most is that Shenzi asked right afterwards to join her instead for safety and it just rubbed him off the wrong way. Like - there are just a lot of reasons why it bothered him and it’s just so funny to me because that is the only thing that loops in his mind too whenever he thinks about Shenzi instead of…you know. The truth about Scar.

Shenzi just came over too strong in her approach with Cheezi and didn’t take things slow with him like Ed did and he has no idea what to make of her so now he is just kinda trying to avoid her like he avoids Scar??

Like. Ed understood that Cheezi had a lot to process and was willing to give him space when he found out who they are and that helped Cheezi - no asking him to join them again.

On top of that the question also made him realize that "oh, dad is probably going back to that clan considering he is from there and we will end up seperated again“

Finally made it to Lachelein! And bought my first cash shop randomized items, to which it gave me an ecliptic crown and....a chronically 'ill' shirt. 😅

I guess I can't escape chronic fatigue even in MS. I think the Fire Priest set is really pretty though, and I wonder if it was made to celebrate the eclipse a couple days ago. I think it suits Mihile even more bc of the sun theme, but getting a patient's sleepshirt for Lachelein is rather fitting for the trippy atmosphere.

Also got VL's soul shard and laughed at how it called him a poor little meow meow.
