sukuna was abandoned by his mother and father at a young age as his more monstrous features began to develop. the village he was born into grew to despite him as a young boy, blaming any misfortune on his existence. it got to a point that they figured the only way to get rid of the bad luck in the village was to kill him. before this, a sorcerer woman named chiyo, quickly got him to safety and cared for him as he grew older.

during his childhood, sukuna nearly burned down an entire forest trying to learn how to use divine flame. he hasn't told anyone beause he still gets overly embarrassed when he thinks about how badly he fucked up.

during his time with chiyo, sukuna met uraume. he practically dragged uraume home and simply said "this one can cook. they are staying" and chiyo just sighed and accepted it. he always seemed to have a thing for strays.

when chiyo became older, she became extremely sick and ended up passing. because of the bond he formed with her, sukuna couldn't accept her death and ended up transforming her into a curse. instead of being monstrous, however, chiyo is relatively human looking...but now just an old lady who huffs playfully at sukuna for not letting her sleep.

while he does have concubines, sukuna wants a wife who can keep up with him. yes, being gifted the finest women is a pleasure and fuels his ego, but he wants to ensure the person he marries checks all the boxes. no one knows him best except himself, after all

sukuna gets extremely grumpy whenever you get sick because he just. cannot figure out how to take care of you without being too overbearing or accidentally calling you weak. yes, he's one of the most powerful sorcerers to walk the earth, but seeing you sweat from a fever makes him feel weak and he projects a little bit.

sukuna's stomach mouth was playfully named 'mokuna', or 'moku for short, by chiyo as a combination of mouth and sukuna. he swears up and down he hates the name, but the mouth on his abdomen can't help but grin and grumble happily when it's referred to by a name.

he will never admit it, but sukuna has a massive sweet tooth. yes, he will steal candy from a baby, he does not care. if it smells sweet and makes his mouth water, he wants it.

sometimes, when sukuna is sleeping, moku will still be 'awake' and will try to communicate with you. it can't speak verbal words very well, but it's so expressive that you find it relatively easy to figure out what it's trying to say.

aiura mikoto analysis!!

i feel that theres a big lack of miko analyses in this world and its bc ppl usually ignore or justify all her character flaws bc they js wanna see her as “the better teruhashi”, so here i am to right the world and attempt 2 do an in-depth analysis on miko!! pls forgive if im missing things, i will edit this as i get a better understanding of her character. and yes i mostly focus on her relationship with saiki soz abt that :p (this is NOT a saiura post tho and ull be disappointed if u go in thinking that)

aiura mikoto is a kindhearted and mostly selfless character who goes out of her way to help ppl, usually for no reason other than she cares, and shes willing to put herself in danger for the sake of others. shes blunt and knows the value of herself and her powers- though this can go a bit too far at times…

she plays the role of kokomis love rival which makes sense since her genuine desire to help others and expect no personal gain and her upfront and honest attitude sharply contrasts kokomis ingenuity and tendency to be kind to others for personal gain (at least as far as she believes)

miko is honest to a fault, blurting out whatever she thinks, while kokomi speaks carefully to curate her image. miko has a tendency to act first and think later, while kokomi thinks first and acts in a crafted way that aligns with her goals.

and they also have things in common like both being very self-sacrificial and being kind to others at their own expense, but again kokomi does this more out of desperation for validation while miko does it out of genuine kindness

their crushes on saiki r also a bit similar, ill talk abt this more but aiura goes into her crush not bc she genuinely has feelings for saiki but bc she believes hes her soulmate and so she makes up a personality for him that matches her desires while kokomi goes into her crush not bc she was actually attracted to him but bc she was confused abt her resentment towards him and wanted him to be infatuated with her. tho, we get to see teruhashi develop past and acknowledge this while aiuras misunderstandings r consistent until the end

then theres the chapter where they switch styles and we see how their typical selfish vs selfless bit can also be reversed in ways bc the main reason for their differences is that miko is so blunt and open while kokomi hides her feelings, bc although we do see kokomi thinking badly abt miko, shes never anything but kind to her aloud while miko despite thinking so highly of kokomi, ends up being the 1 who does something to directly affect kokomi negatively

its a little hard to tell whats going in this scene but by my pov it seems like the 1st part is what saiki wanted miko to tell kokomi, with how serious it is and how thats the main focus b4 we go into kokomis own thoughts and saikis reactions, and so the 2nd thing is NOT a part of saikis objective and is miko trying to take advantage of the situation bc its her going on and on in the background while the focus has already changed. by this point kokomi has already begun to move on from her jealousy and the little freakout she had, while miko is stuck in her jealousy and seeing kokomi as "the final boss" and trying to change kokomis feelings. tho her feelings r much milder than kokomis ever were, her approach is blunt and an attempt to effect kokomi while kokomis was quiet and would only affect herself. this is why their rivalry is so important, they represent the "good" and the "bad" that the other doesnt have

as for mikos relationship with kusuo, they have a good bond thats highlighted pretty immediately when they meet and they work so well together to keep chiyo safe. bc of this, hes able to trust her (and toritsuka) to help him out with things involving his powers that at this time he cant trust any1 else for

the chapter with meras dad has them clashing a lot, but it does end up working out. the chapter highlights mikos stubborn and reckless nature clashing with saikis pessimism and tendency to refuse to look past the badness of a situation

mikos intentions r entirely selfless, but her reaction here is stubborn and unreasonable :p saiki was also not entirely reasonable, and this shows their opposite values that clash so much yet come together in the end to get the best outcome for mera. in this moment tho, it feels hurtful that saiki genuinely confides in her his hesitations and concerns for others and specifically meras health after something miko did ended up hurting her and miko responds like this and only rethinks when saiki leaves. in the end she does show that shes thought abt what saiki says, so its not a “half-hearted attempt” anymore and she goes into it knowing itll be okay bc she saw that it will

but despite this, miko doesnt learn her lesson abt recklessly using her powers nor does she think past her misunderstandings and realize saiki does care abt ppl, she still moves past this believing she was right the whole time and saiki is unreasonable and selfish. imo these chapters were a chance for them to have a way better understanding of each other especially since saiki opening up to her abt his hesitations was such a rare moment but unfortunately she didnt understand and never rlly ended up doing so beyond having a doki doki moment abt saiki caring abt her after she was the one he had to save from the consequences of her actions

tho these chapters highlight how off her perception of him is their relationship is still furthered by them bc of how wonderfully they worked together even when they werent getting along, saiki clearly trusts her a lot since this ends with him asking her to help him stop the volcanic eruption

however when it comes to romance... for all my love for miko, im never ever gonna ship saiki with someone who tried to sexually assault him :p n yes, ik its a gag manga, thats not relevant :p if ppl can like and understand toritsukas character without shipping him with ppl he sexually harassed, i can do the same with miko!!

she was genuinely surprised when he caught her here which tells me despite knowing abt his powers she didnt think he would catch her, so if he were powerless or otherwise hadnt caught her she wouldve simply sa him here. ive seen some ppl say "she realized he wasnt into it after this so shes very respectful of his boundaries" and im kinda baffled at that interpretation :p its not a flex that she realized he didnt wanna be sexually assaulted. idk guys maybe sexually assault is js generally bad??? besides, even beyond the fact this shouldnt have to be an established boundary in the 1st place, it seems way less likely that she understood a boundary here and more likely that she js realized that strategy wouldnt work on him bc of his powers :p

the one where she undresses in his bed is more of a genuine misunderstanding but it still shows how badly she misunderstands him. she ignored most of his message and only read the part she wanted and expected and had clearly been waiting for, and immediately jumped into his bed and took her clothes off, ending up in him almost kicking her out

despite these situations where he clearly expresses disdain at the idea of sexuality, this misunderstanding of hers is consistent throughout her character :p the overwhelming evidence to the contrary never makes her stop assuming that he secretly wants it or smth

i think despite being into other men, she put a lot of stake in her idea of soulmates :p she scryed it and transferred schools to find him after all, and she has a lot of trust in her own self and power, so i think she made a lot of untrue assumptions abt soulmates and how perfect they are and thought she and saiki would immediately click and get along and thered be 0 incompatibilities at all- as if finding her soulmate will fulfill all her romantic n sexual desires. this is why she makes 0 effort to build a romantic connection between them b4 declaring them soulmates and lovers, several times claiming theyre already dating, she assumed itd already exist. therefore she thinks that since SHE is very sexual, her soulmate must be as well. they seem to have nothing in common besides powers and the drive to help others which she isnt aware of, especially in what they want in life and from a partner, which i think is another reason she decided early on based on no evidence that hes a very sexual sadist and latched onto the idea, unable to believe anything else despite all evidence otherwise, for the entire show. 

shes obviously wrong. shes js too fixated on her own desires and expectations to realize that.

she originally claimed to have “fallen in love” with saiki only after seeing his powers and deciding that his mild sassiness was somehow indicative of sadism or sexuality. in the same breath she expresses disappointment in who her soulmate is and doesnt like his personality, so its pretty clear she cooked that up so she could have something to latch onto. from that point forward, i dont remember her showing attraction to anything abt saiki beyond his powers and the sadism/sexuality she misunderstood.

miko deserves some1 she doesnt feel the need to project onto js to feel like her desires r being fulfilled, and saiki deserves some1 who doesnt continuously expect from him what he doesnt want to give and has expressed that.

the thing is they have WAY better chemistry when she ISNT trying to force romance or sexuality into their relationship and she tends to misunderstand every platonic situation with him as that so it makes it a bit hard to see past her misunderstandings and see their friendship through it

at the very end of volcano arc she ALMOST ruins the moment by misunderstanding the situation as romantic and asking to kiss him but the hug she ends up giving him after is much sweeter and more emotionally impactful. its ofc not wrong for her to ask honest questions, im not saying she was wrong for it and its also not wrong 4 her to want to kiss him in that moment, but it does show her inability to read him and the situation and how this limits the chemistry between them. her stubborn nature still came out here when instead of simply accepting the “no” she said “AT LEAST let me give u a hug then” as if he owes at least something to her, but i dont fault her for this bc they both def needed and deserved a hug in that moment. saiki himself has also generally never been averse to platonic physical touch, often letting nendo or toritsuka etc to touch him without protest so this isnt any kind of boundary being broken. funnily, miko is the only person i remember him refusing to let touch him like him making her sit on the other side of the table and teleporting away from a hug but that seems to have changed by the end, or at the very least hell allow it from her in certain situations

miko is overall a good and genuine person, most notably how despite her jealousies of kokomi she still admires her so much, her defenses of kumi who was being bullied in a clothing shop, her expressing she doesnt mind helping kusuo for nothing in return (despite saying this immediately after implying she still wanted a favor after he didnt want to have sex with her, honestly not sure abt this part), and her mostly genuine intentions with her clients

you knew not to panic in such situations. waking up to disheveled sheets that had turned frigid, indicating that ichiyo had been gone too long. you allowed yourself to sleep in, given that you had the day off and decided you'd just lounge around, take a break and plan something nice for your lover in the meantime.

a stress-free period, but all you felt was anxiety when you dialed her number and got sent straight to voicemail repeatedly. this time, you decided you might as well actually leave a message when the line rang for too long.

"'chiyo, honey, call me back when you get this. just wanna make sure everything's okay, alright? I miss you already, love y-"

"who the hell is this?"

you'd been anticipating the automated voice so much that it barely registered that you didn't actually hear it this time, and a quick glance at the screen confirmed that you really were on call with someone on the other end of the line. the voice was raspy, definitely not hers, so you echoed back the question.

a tired sigh confirmed your theory. "look, [_____], I'll call you back when-"

music played on the speaker as you hummed, tray of baked goods getting pulled out of the oven by your gloved mitten. the smell filled out the rather small place you shared with both your wife and sister-in-law, but the latter was out for the week on some kind of trip and left you all alone. you'd gotten used to ichiyo's erratic lifestyle, sometimes disappearing during the day and barely making it home at night. she sounded exhausted when she did arrive, so you didn't mind taking care of the little things.

something was in your hands as you lounged on the couch, passing the time: a book, your phone, anything to keep your mind occupied. the sun had set and you were getting impatient, as nighttime meant she was going to be out until the early hours and might even come home with a particular scent on her clothing that resembled blood and death. how a person so sweet, so feeling could get into this kind of business was beyond you, much less how she could last thing long. she once told you that the only reason she could keep her mind this long was coming home to your soft kisses and pampering.

a clicking of the front lock and the creaking that ensued signaled that you were about to do that once more, and you strolled over to the entrance with an excited smile.

so, you listened carefully while she recounted stories with fake names to keep you protected and vague details in certain places, specific in others. she didn't seem hungry, so you just skipped the food for now and dragged her to your bedroom. you were about to throw her pajamas and get her to change so you could just lay down in bed for the evening, but the burgundy was darkening on patches on her arm and you couldn't help but stare at it.

hand in hand, you snuggled up in big jackets in the middle of the night to fend off the frigid breeze. holding onto your fingers wasn't enough, and ichiyo was fully clinging onto your bicep as you walked with her in the empty streets of yokohoma.

"this s-sounded so m-much more fun when w-we were inside... warm... by the f-fireplace.." her teeth chattered and she pulled herself closer into you.

"you were the one who suggested getting something from the café," you retorted with a chuckle, opposite hand brought up to tuck her hair behind her ear that was starting to turn pink from the cold. you rubbed your thumb along her cheek which was going through something similar, then sighed with a cloud of hot breath. "alright, honey we'll head in. i think there's another one on this street, we can just stay there and warm up before we go back, mkay?"

she would feel a bit ashamed about being so demanding if you hadn't pulled her in tighter and looked at her so lovingly. she had such an impossible time never believing she was capable enough at the mafia, and that discomfort disappeared as soon as you whispered sweet nothings into her ear and made her feel like everything was alright.

you turned your bodies together, door jingling as you stepped inside and the air blowing down from the heater hitting you. you realized that she was right, it was too damn cold outside, as soon as you felt the contrast of the inside. you turned towards your lover with a quick look to see if her body was as relieved as yours, but she was staring at something intensely on the horizon, like she'd seen a ghost.

you followed her gaze, and it fell on a man with tuffs of white in his hair standing next to a woman, slightly shorter but with noticeably long stands of black veiling the sides of her face.

"do you know them?" you whispered, and she jumped a little. part of her wanted to drag you outside, but she couldn't lie to you or keep things no matter how much her common sense told her to.

"that's... they're..." she was struggling to say something, anything, but you noticed she was letting herself get flustered. in these kinds of situations, you liked to interrupt her with a kiss to bring her back to earth from her constantly overreacting mind.

she pulled away before your lips could touch.

she'd never done that before.

you knew better, that this was probably a question of her not wanting the pda right now or maybe it had something to do with the duo standing over there waiting for their drinks, but it hurt nonetheless when you saw her squint her eyes shut and shake her head.

"that's akutagawa," she whispered as an explanation, and you felt simultaneously irritated and relieved, the former due to the fact that it confirmed that she hadn't told her boss that she was in a relationship, much less married. you understood why but it didn't sting any less.

"who's the girl?" you followed up, trying not to think about it too deeply. "is that.. uh... gin?"

she nodded meekly, and it was impossible to stay mad for long when she was so cute. you slid your hand around her waist, turning her around so that her back was to the pair and they wouldn't recognize her while she spoke to you. your voice dropped so low she could barely hear it. "should we get out of here so they don't see us? I'm not that cold, I can wait outside if it makes you more comfortable, honey."

how could she ask you to do something like that when your words were so caring, so honest? she took a deep breath and shook her head once more. in one impossibly fast motion you found yourself on the other end of the shop, standing in front of the man.

"akutagawa-senpai!" ichiyo exclaimed just a bit too loudly for this time of the day and the serenity of the empty café. she bowed her head down, speaking incredibly quickly. "I don't mean to interrupt your evening but it's come to my attention that you don't know that I'm married and this is my wife her name is [_____] and she's wonderful and-"

"'chiyo, he won't be able to understand what you're saying," you laughed softly, cutting her off as you placed your hand on her back reassuringly before addressing her boss with a respectful nod. "it's nice to finally meet you, akutagawa-san. I've heard a lot about you."

he barely bothered to acknowledge you, but the slight twitch in the spot that should've housed his eyebrows signaled that he was shocked. your smile grew wider when you looked to his sister who was sporting the same look. you pulled ichiyo against you from her hip as if to prove that she was indeed yours, and spoke slowly to explain snippets of the current situation. gin listened carefully without a word while the man tried his very best to seem completely uninterested.

as much as you wanted to learn everything there was to know about ichiyo's other side, eventually his drink was ready and he barely excused himself as he walked out. you watched him do so, and gin nodded to you and said something about how nice it was to make your acquaintance in a meek voice before quickly following him out. you waved, and noticed akutagawa watching you do so warmly before burying his face in his coat and scampering off.

"well," you giggled, turning back towards ichiyo, "that wasn't so bad. she's cute and he's an ass, but I trust your judgement in people."

you could practically see stars in her eyes; she rambled to you the entire walk home - during which she didn't complain about the cold a single time and was nearly bouncing off the sidewalk - about how much he clearly loved you based on his expression (apparently the fact that he didn't try to kill you on the spot was a sure sign of his support). she was so excited she even suggested bringing you with her to the port mafia tomorrow, but you stopped her and told her to slow down for just one second. you loved that she was so passionate about her emotions, but you wanted to talk and think this through before you did anything.

for tonight, though, you let her radiate with happiness as she jumped on top of you, making the mattress creak while she climbed up to sit on your lap and curl her fingers around the fabric of your shirt. your hands on her hips, she sat down with her knees bent on either side of you like a frog and leaned so you were chest-to-chest. she tickled your skin to draw out soft giggles while she peppered you with kisses, littering you with her best efforts to repay just a fraction of what you did for her. you rubbed her thighs in long, loving motions and brought her up so she was sitting on your hips instead. you wanted her closer, and she was happy to oblige as she kissed your lips.

"[_____]," she said, smiling into you, "I'm so lucky..."

you cut her off with a press upwards and a firm grip. "shhh, don't say anything. I love you, you love me and that's all we need."

Teruchiyo: wonderful platonically or romantically. both of them arent used to having friends (even worse on kokomi's side) but they manage to bond tgt and later in the story they r supportive of each other. this relationship is very important to both of them but i think kokomi is affected more positively. she finally knows what it feels like to have someone who treats her like how u would treat any other person (chiyo sees her as human and not an object of worship) and kokomi is more open with her. she can discuss things like boy crushes or just little things she likes which is smth she could never do before. i think chiyo was the one who prevented her villain arc lol. for the romantic part i feel chiyo will fall first but has no idea. she tries spending more time with kokomi and compliments her more. chiyo will tell kokomi is cute or pretty after kokomi laughs louder than she normally would. chiyo gets embarrassed and thinks that kokomi already gets called cute everyday so it doesnt mean anything to her. however kokomi is quite flustered from it as chiyo called her cute after displaying her real personality.

hello!!! ive finally decided to make an intro post.. its a miracle. my name is oisín (pronounced osh-een), but you can also call me mavey or will! im 19 years old and i use mirror pronouns. mirror pronouns means i want you to use your own pronouns on me! if you do not do that, masc terms and pronouns are preferred.

i think the one i probably like the most after kbmt is kaiyume ^_^ not in a way where like the situationship is so hilarious that it compels me to write 15 posts in a row about them but i think they have a special kind of really funny like. early 2010s cringe highschool couple vibe. or something. embarrassing couple on the internet. blurry grainy matching profile pics. couple cosplay. the chuunibyou. LOL i do genuinely love their relationship and its evolution from the moment kaidou defended chiyo in okinawa to chiyos confession and the way chiyos feelings for him are so consistent despite being the 'girl who falls in love super easily all the time' archetype and shes so considerate in liking him and i think they fit really well together but most importantly the idea of their romance is so weird and embarrassing to me meaning theyll never be boring (which is as weve established a capital offense for a gag manga). i think it brings out so many fun parts of their character. chiyos unhinged but shes so caring. kaidous so pathetic but hes so brave and gentlemany. its great! 👍

i'm so glad you asked about siblings bc for whatever reason, my brain always defaults to only children if i'm not making sibling oc's asdfg he's an older brother to one miss anju, who is seven years younger than him! they're really close bc ko looked after her a lot while their mom kept busy with work; he was typically the one making her lunch, helping her with homework, and even the one showing up to award ceremonies/special events ( and he absolutely skipped school or his own stuff to attend ). ko isn't perfect, but anju, particularly now that she's older, admires how much he stepped in to not only help their mom but to make sure that anju never felt overlooked, too. she knows that she can come to him with anything, and he's gonna drop everything to be there for her :' )

how does his living space & his working space look like? chaotic? organized?

it's very neat and organized! the complete opposite of chiyo's asdfg ko is very big on things having their place and making sure to keep it that way. having a disorganized space makes it difficult for him to concentrate bc it just feels cluttered and crowded, and you can typically tell if he's going through something bc that's the only time his home and work area will get messy. the more stressed and/or busy he gets, the more the space around him reflects that. i also wanna say!! ko probably appreciates minimalism and simple color palettes... or just plain ol' black and white :' ) it's just easier to match furniture and whatnot if it's all varying shades of black, grey, and white! pls make him put some color in his apartment

ASDFG ASKING THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS!! AND WELL!! he thinks his feelings have completely faded :' ) until he meets chiyo again :' ) gradually, he realizes that it's really easy to fall right back into those feelings bc while they've grown older and changed, they still click so well. he can see himself dating her again, and maybe this time things could actually work, but ko can tell that chiyo still needs time. he can't hit her with " i still have feelings for you, " and expect her to take it well, not after finding out that she hasn't dated since they broke up. he's aware that she likely has a lot of fear surrounding love and vulnerability even now. ko is content to be her friend for now, though. he enjoys a good slow burn anyway <3 though, this isn't to say he's emotionally unavailable for anyone else who comes along! honestly, i think getting over chiyo and letting go of those feelings would be a fun plot point to explore, but that all depends on my writing partner's comfort level/interest. and ofc there's always the option of a lil polyship!! bc i can see ko being okay with it and actually contemplating the idea first bc he'd realize what's going on before the others most likely. i see ko as being very emotionally intelligent and confident, so he's probably the one pushing the other two to understand their feelings before finally going, " how do y'all feel about just? dating each other? all (x) of us? "

how does he dress like?

i think he keeps a very casual style most of the time, opting for graphic t-shirts and hoodies, comfy jeans, chunky sneakers, and the occasional dad hat. like chiyo, he wears dressier clothing only for work and special occasions, and when he does, he once again tends to gravitate towards greys and blacks with certain other dark colors thrown in. he'll probably avoid wearing ties as much as possible bc he always feels like he's being choked. generally doesn't accessorize very much, but you'll catch him with a ring or two on his fingers and a simple chain bracelet that anju gave him for his 25th birthday.

what are his thoughts on shonen anime & manga?

he enjoys them! but he tends to drop them for long stretches before picking them back up bc they tend to be so long, and he catches up with the released chapters pretty quickly ( though, there are shoujo manga that he does this with, too ). ko also tends to be kind of critical with how authors handle their characters and the relationships, though once again!! that's something he'll do with all manga and anime. i think he tends to kinda? skip over battle scenes or get tldr's from his friends bc he gets bored with those. he's almost always reading a manga for the lore and for the characters and the desire to see how they grow and whatnot, so reading the same battle scene for however many chapters is just :' ) not it for him :' ) even watching the anime gets tedious if the fight extends over more than two episodes. so the bottom line!! is he enjoys and appreciates shonen series, but they're not 100% his cup of tea.

does he enjoy sailor moon & who is his favorite sailor senshi?

he does!! tbh magical girl series in general somehow get a pass for battle scenes, but if i'm remembering right?? sailor moon's fights don't typically last for a ton of episodes! but anyway!! he grew up watching sailor moon with his mom and then his little sister, so it's got a special place in his heart :' ) his favorite sailor senshi is miss rei/sailor mars!! he tends to gravitate towards the more " fiery " characters in a series, and rei is definitely the cause of that. he also adores usagi herself bc she's such a goofball and secretly ships her and rei together!

soulmates

the idea of soulmates or "fated partners" is intriguing to me, heres my theory abt the soulmate mechanics of saiki k ^^

my 1st and main theory is that its related to mikos ability to see compatibility, ppl with the highest or maybe only if its 100% compatibility r considered soulmates. however tho i do believe this in general bc it has the most canon backing i dont actually think this could be the case for saiki and aiura, we never get to see it but i think if wed been shown the compatibility (or chance of success) between these 2 it would be low (u can reference my miko analysis for y i think this) so i think theres more than 1 way for ppl to be fated partners. the idea that this is the only way to be soulmates also contradicts info ill provide below

another theory ppl have had is that ur soulmate is literally ur future partner, and at 1st i thought this was implied when i read the manga bc miko says she was "looking into her own future" when she found her soulmate, however after checking a few translations, this seems to be a mistranslation, she uses the same language as she does for any future or non-future readings. this post would b rlly long if i went into it but i think this theory is completely off the table in saiki and mikos case, it would contradict what we know (abt mikos powers, future not being stagnant, the fact she went out of her way to change the future to find her soulmate which would imply it wasnt in her future b4, and more), but maybe the future isnt entirely off the table as a factor for soulmates in general. i do think its possible considering all her talk of future and fate

canon facts abt soulmates:

-they r hardly mentioned at all. the only mentions of soulmates r: 1) when shes talking abt saiki. 2) chiyo thinks shes shuns soulmate, miko doesnt believe so. 3) in 236, a client asks miko if hell ever get married, miko refers him to "the woman of his dreams", NOT his "fated partner" or "soulmate." its unclear if this woman is his soulmate or if she foresaw something else (im in the middle of a reread so pls correct me if im wrong so i can add to this and on that note lmk if my translations r ever off)

-miko mentions she doesnt believe chiyo is shuns soulmate, but she didnt scry this and her language implies she doesnt know for sure. this means their 2-4% compatibility doesnt actually 100% ensure that they arent soulmates, but it might be what made her think they probably arent. this means compatibility may be linked but not entirely indicative of being soulmates

-miko mentions that she was "rlly feeling it" the day she found her soulmate which may imply its very hard and rare for her to see. she also makes no attempts to get any1 else with their soulmates iirc so it seems unimportant and not guaranteed, its only a desire

-compatibility, which may be linked to soulmates, is also referred to as "chance of success", which may or may not be an interchangeable term

so with all that in mind heres my theories for all the ways ppl can be considered fated partners:

-highest/100% compatibility

-your ideal/dream person (i think this 1 may be possible to be unreciprocated or possibly u have to be each others dream person with ur ideals, morals, and plans for the future lining up)

-the person u get with in several possible timelines or in the foreseeable future

-the best future that can be foreseen is 1 where u r together

i also dont think miko can conciously choose or see which "type" of soulmate shes seeing

we also have to consider that compatibility and the future BOTH canonically change pretty easily and altho that concept interests me in the context of soulmates, its rlly hard to consider that here in a way that doesnt stretch too far from theories into just fanon and where soulmates would still mean anything at all, so ill table that for now but the idea that soulmates can be changed is very intriguing and i think its pretty likely when i consider how all of mikos seen powers work

now specifically for saiki and miko: i think theyre some form of the last 1. i think fate brings them together bc every future where they dont meet is a bad future, at least for saiki. this is bc i believe kusuo could never have stopped the volcanic eruption, or at least that it wouldve taken him many more years to do so without miko. therefore each future where theyre happiest is 1 where theyre connected in some way

OK WAIT I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THIS HOLD ONNM

Ok so Tori is def an impulse buyer esp bc he's never like been taught Abt the value and worth of money yk bc usually ur parents and schools teach u that shit but he probably never even went to public school until he met saiki and transferred and his parents and monks def didn't teach him anything Abt money. But also I think since he doesn't really earn a lot of money and never really had a need for it before bc he's fed and clothed at the temple, he just doesn't know how to save his money up for anything besides junk food and nude anime gurl figures. Also he has an issue with impulse control (hence his pervert title) so ofc he can't control his impulse to wanna buy porn mags and figurines and junk food.

OMG HES SO BAD AT CUSTOMER SERVICE he's bad at small polite talk (he can be polite but ppl don't like his face and would rather he keep his mouth shut). And despite being bad at customer service somehow he keeps managing to get a job in retail and food stores and convenience stores but he always gets fired by so many customer complaints after like a few days or a week at most. Also he wants to work at the maid/cosplay cafe bc he likes cosplaying and wearing cosplay and role playing but nobody knows this they all think it's bc he wants to see up the cute maids skirts (he does but that's not all of it).

OMG AND YESS TORI LOVES CHILDREN AND IS SORTA GOOD WITH THEM CONSIDERING HE TREATS GHOSTS LIKE CHILDREN HE MOTHERS THEM SO OFC HE'S GONNA BE A. GOOD BIG BRO TO ALL OF MERAS SIBLINGS. and they love him bc he brings them some of his junk food and snacks and spoils them rotten bc he's never had siblings of his own and he wants to treat them how he wishes the monks had treated him yk. ALSO Tori makes sure they're all safe and don't run into trouble by having some ghosts watch over them besides their guardian spirits and make them report back to him in case they ever get stuck in a sticky situation, big bro Reita ftw!

if you look at all of tsubaki's manga, the heroes are almost nigh-interchangeable, visually at least. i think she might have a type.

yeah, nozaki really does resemble oresama teacher’s lead (i can’t remember his name whoops!) tsubaki-sensei even poked fun at herself in chapter 4 when she had nozaki draw a chapter filled with suzuki clones because he didn’t have anyone to model the character on.

for your academy verse, i think it might be neat to sort of mash up chiyo's modern fantasy verses; originally, she's a witch who is killed and is then brought back as a vampire via her cousin naoki, but if it's something goro is capable of/would do, maybe he brings her back? and then she begins working at the academy as a teacher as one of the conditions of the deal he made with naoki. she's well-versed in spellcasting and has the ability of foresight, and even though she's only recently become aware of the latter, i could see that being a gift that man might be interested in! and yeah, goro's the one who'd be heavily involved at the beginning, but that opens the door to mess with ji-hun and deng, too hehe

you've mentioned that hina wouldn't be able to just allow another woman to get close or romantically involved with ren without butting in bc he's essentially all she has left in terms of family, and i'd loved to explore that tbh! the fact that ren's at the point where he's laid all his cards on the table for chiyo -- that says something, and i'd imagine it's only a matter of time before hina hears about her. chiyo isn't the type to be easily pushed around nor is she necessarily the jealous type, but it'd be really interesting to see how the two react to each other with their differing situations and relationships with ren.

as a small aside because i might forget by the end, i do think it'd be so cute to have chiyo meet kyosuke and ren's mom, too :' )) she's such a family gal that i know her heart would be so warm being around all of them, and i’d love to see how ren feels about it.

i honestly think it'd be interesting if chiyo's met both ji-hun and deng prior to ever meeting that man. running into ji-hun when he's checking in with ren, however brief, and it just keeps happening somehow; deng just appearing by happenstance bc he has business with someone else, but oh? this is that lady the rabbit's fond of! and as the desire to help ren grows, those two pop up more frequently just as chiyo begins to notice that red door, too, and whether it's all mere coincidence or not, it's kinda like she's being tugged in goro's direction. corralled, even. i guess this isn't as much a plot as just an extra detail to play with? so...

let's see chiyo complain to ji-hun about deng and ask how she can get him to leave her alone. she's genuinely kinda scared of him after their little chase; it doesn't matter if she just needs to play with him to avoid danger. she feels like she might actually be at risk.

let's see deng perhaps come to her aid, acting as protector rather than predator bc some dummy tried to attack chiyo on one of her many late night strolls. it'd be an interesting situation and complicated bc on one hand, she's always unsettled by his presence, but on the other hand, she should feel grateful. and you know deng is gonna manage to be at least a lil unhinged about the whole thing asdfg

and finally!! i've got my hands open for ren's au's -- you mentioned his incubus verse the other day, and why not throw chiyo's modern fantasy verse into the mix and indulge in supernatural shenanigans <3 i don't know if this would be the sort of situation in which she could summon him? whether on purpose or mistake asdf but there's that or the shop she runs at night that ren could wander into for a lil magical assistance. and since chiyo has a kny verse in which she's a kakushi, there's ample opportunity to explore their dynamic in that setting. let her tend to his wounds pls <3

i can't focus.

kuki first notices that something is off about herself when you come strolling by, not a care in the world and your hair glimmering amber in the afternoon's golden hour, a laugh drifting from your slightly parted lips, and she drops her entire stack of boxes.

they burst open upon hitting the sun-drenched pavement and the bundles of imported candies from oversea go scattering across the ground.

"what are you doing, kuki-chan?!" calls a nearby shop owner, a girl around her age who instantly rushes out of her stall and starts scooping up palmfuls of candies. "those must cost hundreds of mora, no -- thousands, and you're just going and getting distracted by -- "

kuki says nothing, eyes still riveted to the distant line of your frame, saunter as confident and easy as always as you greet numerous friends along the path, and the girl follows kuki's amethyst gaze to your back.

" ... oh," she says, dumbfounded, before her lips curl into a knowing smile. "ohh."

kuki shinobu, the skilled and revered true leader of the arataki gang, places her hand in the small of the girl's back and shoves as hard as she can without letting you leave her line of sight.

the girl stumbles away, still clutching the candies, grinning to herself. who would've thought? kuki shinobu.

she doesn't get very far, though, before kuki shinobu snaps out of her stupor and drags her behind the stall. "you won't say a word," kuki hisses. "nothing happened. i tripped, and i dropped the crate. that's all, okay?"

the girl smiles at her. "oh, of course, kuki-chan," she says, disentangling herself from kuki's grip. "i would never say anything."

and then she rounds the corner of the stall and shouts, "hey! yn! you should check out these candies, they're really good! imported from overseas--pretty fancy, actually."

you turn around, sunlight playing across your face and lighting up your eyes. "oh, sure," you call back. "i'll check them out!" you wave to the group of friends you were chatting with and kuki can't help but watch you again.

and to kuki's absolute horror, you make your way over to kuki and her split-open crate. "hmm," you muse, bending down. kuki's cheeks burn and she's really never been more thankful for the mask. "i- um, i dropped it," she mutters, squatting down to scoop up the candies. "really, i'm so sorry. i need to get these picked up, maybe you could come back another time when the inventory's all laid out? it might be easier to see--"

you laugh, cutting kuki off. "it's okay, i don't mind! i'll help you!" you start picking up the candies and putting them back into the box. the girl from the stall winks at you and goes back to her customers.

kuki wants to murder her, but now you're in front of her and she needs to pick up these candies. oh, how could she be so scatterbrained? if she had just focused on her crates and not looked at you, the candies wouldn't be on the ground, and you wouldn't be talking to her.

then you flash her a grin, and oh, my archons, is that a dimple? of course. of course this would happen to her.

with two people, it's less of a chore (although, she thinks, nothing would be a chore with you) and it's far easier to put the candies back in the crates. you help kuki move the crates behind the stall, out of foot traffic and out of the pathway.

"whew!" you exclaim, dusting off your hands. "that was fun."

"oh- yes, it was," kuki replies, startled. "did you still want to buy some candies?"

you lean closer, a twinkle in your eye. "they did look really good... i can come back later if you're still setting up." you gesture at the stall.

kuki swallows. "actually, that would be the best," she says, trying not to look down at your lips. she's desperate for you to leave, so she can gather her wits-- but also, she wants you to stay.

"okay," you say, turning away. is it just her imagination, or do you look a little disappointed? "nice meeting you, kuki shinobu."

and you walk away, leaving kuki behind, to once again, stare at your back.

kuki huffs out a frustrated breath and turns back to her stall, already regretting not asking you to stay. she stands behind her candies for a good five minutes, replaying the exchange in her head.

before she can think about it too hard, she's calling out your name. "actually, um, when you come back to pick some candies-- would you want to maybe grab lunch with me? and then we can hang out on the beach, if you're free, maybe? or just stroll around the marketplace--whatever you choose, if you're free," she rambles. why is this happening to her? she can't concentrate at all. maybe it's the way that you smirk a little bit, as though you were expecting it, or maybe how your face splits into a smile as you answer.

"i would love that, kuki," you exclaim, and her heart swells. who would have ever thought? kuki shinobu, the skilled and revered true leader of the arataki gang, being a secret sap.

once you flash a grin over your shoulder and stride away, promising to come back in an hour, the sun casting a golden glow over your features and lengthening the shadow you cast. the girl from the stall over leans over. "hey! kuki-chan!" she calls. kuki glances over. she grins. "aren't you glad i said something?"
