CaeJoseWeek 2025 Day 7: Free Day

Some disjointed thoughts about Caesar discovering Josuke and coming to terms with the fact that he still loves the man he married, for better or worse.

Asking Lilia Vanrouge to tutor you in history sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? He seems to know a lot about historical events due to living through them and there's even a picture resembling him in your textbook. History is his best subject. What could go wrong?

You leave the tutoring session more confused than before. Lilia's knack for history is no joke, though his knowledge is all over the place.

Hardly any of what he says gets covered in class. It's probably not going to be on the test. He brings up the names of random people, common folk with no impact on the grand scheme of things. He drones on about these people for longer than necessary. He rambles about insignificant bits of their daily lives like an old man reminiscing about old friends and you don't know how to stop him.

"Patricia really hated when they implemented the new calendar system, khee hee hee! Said it made her miss a date with this lad she fancied, but it all worked out in the end. He came to find her after a while and they went steady. Never met him. Heard he was a paper boy. The kind that makes paper, mind you. Word has it that he made fine paper but I never much cared about the quality of paper."

Lilia starts floating off his chair as he becomes immersed in his own tale. He crosses his arms in thought. You stare at his exposed forehead as he turns upside-down, your pen hand at the ready in case he says anything actually useful.

"Ezekiel, though? He was a lad who was mad about paper. Oho. This was, oh, roughly 350 years ago. He penned a letter to the Shaftlands government to petition for lower taxes. About a decade after that blight incident that wiped out their food reserves. More than half their crops were being taxed and it was a brutally cold winter, he could barely afford firewood, but he still used the best parchment he could find. Said it made a stronger point to those in power. Oh, and his daughter was so angry about it!"

Lilia laughs. Three hours pass in this manner. He wafts through the air absentmindedly and bumps against your shoulder, sending him floating back in the other direction. When he drifts too far, he magically pops into another spot and makes you jump. He has a smile on his face, this is genuine fun for him.

You manage to fill in half a page with notes that seem kind of useful. You don't know how you'd source them in an essay, though, aside from "Lilia told me." You ask if he knows anything about the legendary Queendom of Roses Revolt and he launches into another unrelated story that happened around the same time about some really good chicken he once ate.

When you've had enough and the study session is over, Lilia thanks you. He gives you a piece of hard candy, its wrapper somewhat disheveled like it was in his pocket for a week. "It's important for kids like you to study hard," he says with a thumbs up. He pats you on the back before leaving. You consider asking Riddle for help the next time you have questions.

One of my favorite tags I've seen left on my older Clover design was "imagine having cowboy swag but also being able to play in the NBA" and I think about it a lot

anyways here is a list of my personal favorite headcanons:

first off, I hc that he's great with small children or babies, cause he used to take care of his sister when she was very young

He squeezes himself into fuckass crevices or sleeps in trees when he has to camp out and the hunt or mission took longer than he anticipated and there's no inn near (that being said, he would probably kind of suck at making campfires the normal mortal way cause why go through all that effort when you can just blast qi to light up the branches + he never needed to ever since he cultivated a core)

can smoke or grill some banger meat, he sometimes shares it with his disciples and they love it

secretly is a little vain, afterall someone put that braid there and having a long piece of hair dangling in front of ur face isn't very practical for certain situations

probably cuddles with cheng luan, need I say more?

him and his sister look very similar (except for height) so they can usually get away with swapping identities

he looks like he stands on his tiptoes most of the time (based on the eng novel art, Ik that's prolly just for dynamic posing sake but this is such an awkward stance for a normal human being lmfao)

probably autistic, i can feel it in my bones

he can crawl on all fours really efficiently for no reason, sometimes uses this skill to scare/test his disciples

giggly typa drunk, i just think it's cute

mf is stacked so he often overestimates the monetary value of items, great for the seller, excruciating for whoever was assigned to accompany monitor him

views food as another testament to his physical will, loves spicy food (but also really likes sweets)

in a modern au, he would be so untech savy it would make your 90 yo grandpa look like a NASA engineer

his closet is one of those cartoon ones where its the exact same fit across the board

Lazarus Pit's name

Duke: It's interesting you called this mystical pool of water with regenerative properties the Lazarus pit. You named it after Lazarus from the Bible. That's actually clever.

Ra's Al Ghul's eyes widened in alarm shocked at the mention of it mostly because he did choose the name for that reason and because it sounds cool.

Ra's Al Ghul: Um... I didn't know that. Who is this... Person you speak of?

Duke: The biblical figure who was resurrected from the dead by Jesus Christ in the New Testament. I'm surprised you read the Bible you know, cuz it could burn your hand.

Ra's groaned while Bruce chuckled in the background.

Bruce: Talia told me he got it from the Bible, you're not wrong.

Ra's: There are many interpretations of that book, my naming the pits isn't-

Duke (teasing, interrupting): Wait, wait, you knew him didn't you? You and Lazarus go way back do you?

Bruce could be heard laughing in the background making Ra's close his eyes and shake his head.

Ra's (twitching eye): You know we don't!

Duke: You're a Judas man, I get that.

Ra's shook with rage to the point Talia had to physically pull him back while Duke kept a safe distance as he waved with a smirk. Jason walked over having noticed the conversation.

Duke: You know where the name Lazarus came from?

Jason: Yeah, the biblical guy, Lazarus. He was resurrected in four days. That's why it's named that.

Ra's (shouting enraged): THAT'S NOT WHY IT'S CALLED THAT!

Jason: That's literally why he called it that.

Duke: I'm one of the few people who actually reads the Bible. I know he did. Hey... So Talia-

Jason laughed, smacking Duke on the back of the head.

Jason: No comment.

Thinking today about what a Choice it is to give Gil-Galad, high king of the Noldor, a spear as his signature weapon. Spears are extremely cheap to manufacture and require little skill to use — and in the 5-15th century they were most commonly used by peasant infantry for that reason. Just 🤨

WELL HELLO THERE!

I already shared that I think Hunted would be pretty good at playing instruments and would make it a hobby. He would have learned it to calm animals down and found it calming by the end of it. Besides that: He really likes bugs!

And has the largest wings in the flock(followed by Cold and Stubborn) even if he doesn't use them unless completely necesary or for warning purposes.

They are stronger and more flexible than they appear once truly unfolded.

They also doesn't like big surprising loud noises, their ears are extra delicate.
