Art and Individuality

Who am I to interpret nature through art? I am an individual of course! Every person’s perspective is a little bit different and for this reason I believe that art is simply an individual’s way of expressing this perspective. Even a cover of a song or a remake of a painting is someone’s unique interpretation of a piece of art. As such, nature exists to be interpreted by people who have the privilege of experiencing it and shared with those who do not. A painting of a landscape may inspire feelings within a person about that place that they may not have experienced otherwise. To be able to see something through someone else’s eyes is a concept that seems practically impossible but is quite simple in reality. When you look at a picture or a painting, you are seeing the artist’s interpretation of the subject. It helps to see things through a new lens and consider things from a new perspective. These new experiences help us to grow as people.

I have never been very artsy so paintings have never really struck a chord with me, but for some reason this painting makes me feel a sense of adventure that I can’t quite describe. All I can think of is how much fun it would be to sail on that lake or base jump from that cliff!

As a student of science, I believe that this is an area that is often neglected in our field. Scientists are not usually asked to express their ideas in artistic ways, opting for concrete research published in peer reviewed scholarly papers instead. It seems to me like the social diseases described by Dr. Kurt Hahn, as outlined in our Unit 4 content, have only become more prevalent as time has progressed. The decline of initiative and enterprise, memory and imagination, and skill and care are especially concerning. The rise of technology and social media have made it much easier to become a passive observer of the world around you rather than an active participant. We aren’t taught to be whimsical and creative in our ideas and the ways that we express them.

However, these things have also created countless new ways to express yourself. During this pandemic in particular, platforms such as Tik Tok have grown substantially and present a new opportunity for people to share information and their own unique perspectives with the world. Educational content has become more popular with people posting things about science, history, art, culture, and just about anything else you can think of. I believe that this is “the gift of beauty”. People being able to share things that they are passionate about in their own creative and unique way. Is it not our job as nature interpreters to help others find their own sense of beauty within nature? To do this we have to be able to communicate our perspectives in as many different and creative ways as we can.

The fact that I have absorbed more information about indigenous culture from Tik Tok than from my Canadian education is probably pretty concerning and speaks to how effective platforms like this are for education.

For this reason, I believe that art should become a much bigger part of scientific education. Art, in any form, can help to convey complex ideas in ways that are more easily understood by a larger variety of people. After all, not everyone is trained to read, understand, and learn from scholarly articles like we are. I think that kids should be taught to think and express their ideas creatively from a young age. As we learn more about the world and we deal with complex concepts such as climate change, it will only become more important to refine the mediums through which we share information. Being able to share these concepts with the general public is probably the most important responsibility for us as scientists. That’s why I am so excited to make podcasts for our class! Training our ability to creatively share ideas with people is crucial to our education (not to mention making a podcast is way more fun than sitting down and writing an academic paper!).

With all this being said, I want to ask you guys a few questions:

- How do you believe younger generations should be educated about the world and how it is changing?

hogwarts info part 2: 

professors:  albus dumbledore - the headmaster, we love but as a fandom don’t trust bc we see u albus u a shady bitch. ( still love his quotes thooo. )  minerva mcgonagall - the true HERO. she is head of gryffindor house and is basically the baddest bitch who everyone respects and adores.  filius flitwick - charms professor and head of ravenclaw house he’s WITTLE but he’s powerful and he’s the one in the forever famous it’s LEVIOOOSA NOT LEVIOSA scene.  horace slughorn - he is the potions master and head of slytherin house in the marauder era. not a bad dude... but he is ambitious and he’s all about them connections and collecting valuable and rare artifacts and he treats people like this too. which is how the slug club is born, he recruits students who either have powerful relatives or are crazy talented ( which is how lily ended up in this club, she was one of his absolute favorite students. some others in here were like regulus black, lucius malfoy, theodore nott, and u know people like that. ) he was also voldy’s potions teacher and head of house.. he loved him LMFAOOOO. told him about horcruxes ( which i will explain. )  professor binns - teaches history of magic and he’s like u know a 100000 year old ghost man. most people sleep through this class but tbh i think it would have been my fave lmao.  silvanus kettleburn - he was the care of magical creatures professor in this era. magical creatures u know all the fab wizarding animals we saw in fantastic beasts and more.  rubeus hagrid - gamekeeper, dumbledore let him stay on the grounds after he was expelled from hogwarts the year the chamber of secrets was opened and mrytle was killed.  pomona sprout - head of hufflepuff house and she teaches herbology all about the plants and things u know this is the biology of the wizarding world and all that. she’s the one that grew mandrakes in the second book / film to help all the students attacked by the basilisk ( giant snake )  sybill trelawney - divinations professor, she’s a seer this bitch acts like she’s a fake but she not. that’s why dumbeldore hired her she’s the one that delivers the prophecy about the chosen one. u know the one that snape overhears and runs like a bitch baby to tell voldy and then realizes he fucked up... bc LILY lmfao. most people think she’s a fake THO... cause she has like one accurate vision every 3000 years. madam hooch - flying instructor, she’s the referee at the quidditch matches and the coach for the teams.

there are other schools outside of hogwarts in the wizarding world bc well magic isn’t only british lmaoo. there are others like in japan and so forth but i’ll tell you some of the ones most people reference. 

beauxbatons - school in france, in the movies it’s all “ girls “ but in the books aka real canon there are male and female students. their headmistress is madam maxine. 

durmstrang - scandinavian school, this school biggotted they don’t accept muggle borns but u know the students may or may not be prejudiced against them take viktor krum for example he took hermione to the yule ball. 

ilvermony - ya’ll know this one it’s the american one with the problematic as fuck native american houses.  

horcruxes - you’ve all seen the movies, so this you will know but basically it’s an object that contains a part of a wizards soul... voldemort used it to create “ immortality “ except not really bc they can be destroyed anyway the catch for this is that you have to commit murder in order to be able to split your soul. it’s heinous in the eyes of most people. horace slughorn told voldy about it thou he got charmed and he explained what it was and he’s ashamed. 

magazines: 

the daily prophet - wizarding newspaper, it’s controlled by the ministry a lot of the time and they aren’t truthful aka think of fox news. 

witch weekly - thas right wizards love gossip too and they have celebrities so like think of this as a tabloid magazine of sorts. 

music:  there are wizarding bands who are famous, same with singers and such bc everyone loves music. some of the ones i remember at the top of my head... 

the weird sisters - is a rock band, we saw them at the yule ball in the goblet of fire. but basically they the rolling stones man 

celestina warbeck - a popular female witch who sings and tbh for some reason i imagine celeine dion lmfaoo. 

spellbound - an all WITCH band typically surrounded by scandals. 

jobs aka after hogwarts: 

gringotts curse breaker - basically treasure hunters / archeologists they work for the bank and break ancient curses and travel the world and tbH this would have been one of my dream jobs. 

dragologist - they are magizoologists who focus on dragons like ron’s brother charlie. many go to romania bc of the dragon sanctuary. 

magizoologist - NEWT was one of them... they care about the animals u know... they study them and all that jazz. 

auror - wizard cops basically, they are crazy talented witches or wizards who protect the wizarding world. they also tend to be very respected a few names that made a big impact in this field were alice and frank longbottom... people loved them. 

professor - obviously we need the teachers lmao. 

healers - they work at st mungos the wizard hospital and they tend to the sick and basically the doctors of this world. 

unspeakables:  they work at the department of mysteries and it’s exactly how it sounds they don’t talk and are really intimidating.

wizengamont - wizarding court, it’s the high court of law and it acts like pariliment... and people get invited to join u have to be highly respected and all that. dumbledore is the head of it.

I mean, most of what you’re saying makes sense and I agree with you whole heartedly.

Sirius should never take up the mantle of a Lordship from his family if he had one and Malfoy couldn’t possibly be a member of the Wizengamot if he’s outside Courtroom Ten in OotP. And I want you to know that this isn’t a criticism on any of that so much as it’s an explaination for what brought the trope about in the first place.

Politics in canon is definitely built on an Old Boy’s Network, Canon rejects it of course, but there’s nothing shown to have been done about it. There’s no clear destruction of that system in the books, so we have to assume that it carried on the way it was just with the good character pulling all the strings. Personally, that’s not something I agree with and what I genuinely love about the Lord Potter Trope is that, when done properly, it’s symbolic of the fact that people with power should fught against the class divide for the sake of the people.

The Ancient and Most Noble Houses thing was latched onto because of how the current English Government is set up. With the House of Commons doing most of the work actually running the government, and the House of Lords having to agree on legislation proposed by the House of Commons before it’s signed off by the Queen. The Ministry represents the House of Commons, while the fanon Wizengamot represents the House of Lords. Just that the Wizengamot also acts as a jury in high profile court cases.

You gain seats in the House of Lords by being part of the Royal Family, albeit a distant part, ususally being the Lord of a County in England. Or by being offered a seat by the Queen. With Minister’s being offered a seat immediately after they’ve finished their term - which if taken up only goes to them, but if not taken up immediately gets awarded as a permanent seat for the family or House.

Given this set up of the House of Lords, and that it’s canon for Wizards to have had a place in the Crown’s Court before the Statute of Secrecy it’s not unreasonable to assume that the wizarding government mimics the government system of then. In fact the SoS was implemented shortly after the British Civil War and the Restoration of the Monarchy, which were both periods of tension with the Puritans who were very anti-witchcraft (the whole Stuart Era was actually). And if the Wizarding Government does mimic this system then there will be Lords and Ladies in the Wizarding Government of England.

Anyone in the High-Upper Class would learn many of the lessons that fall into “Pureblood etiquette” because it’s first and foremost High-Class Etiquette. And the learning of things not taught at Hogwarts to everyone is very reminiscent of the Old Grammar School Tests that took place in England, called the eleven plus exam which assessed eligibility for Grammar Schools, until very recently that included being able to recognise names of classical artists and musicians. By very recently I mean there’s 1998 legislation regarding changes to the acceptance process of all schools, though out of 3000+ only 163 Grammar Schools remain in England.

This trope didn’t come from just one line. It came for people’s understanding of English Upper-Class and often frame the current behaviour in such a way that reminds people of the fact this type of thing is still going on.

As said before I don’t think Sirius is the character that should be teaching Harry if Harry is taught at all. He does so clearly and vocally reject the practices of his family and their politics, and I don’t think he’d have ever been allowed to become Lord Black if it is controlled by magic as most fics make it out to be. The Black Family is so large and built upon that anyone writing a fic could just pick one of them to do it easy, and a reluctant Sirius allowing Harry to be taught so he can choose what he does if anything...

Lucius wouldn’t have a seat, the Malfoy’s are a French family and have never been mentioned as having been a Minister so they can’t have gone that route either. But it’s clear that his political power comes from his ability to manipulate Minister Fudge, and thus have some control over the legislation passed to the Wizengamot.

There’s probably factions like there are political parties, and those factions would reflect the political beliefs of those holding seats, which given the War was very politically motivated means that while there’s not a “dark” faction there might be a “traditionalist” faction that are anti-muggle inclined.

But in all the trope itself is based on an attempt to give the Ministry substance and structure and is based in fanon rather a lot like the English Government, and the implications of how the Ministry seems to work in canon, not just fans latching onto “Ancient and Most Noble House House”.

*The British Civil War coming before the SoS is important, because the British Civil War was started when King Charles I attempted to shut down parliament, which was against the Magna Charta which he’d signed upon becoming King - and the Univeral Declaration of Human Rights is based on. It caused a revolution in which he was beheaded for Treason against the People of England, and England was ruled thereafter by Oliver Cromwell: who didn’t sign the MC and placed massive restrictions on the people, going so far as banning the arts, religious practices and traditions such as Christmas, and fun in general. But the puritans also thought all witches should be killed. After he died, King Charles II was made crowned and undid all of those laws.

This shaping hypothetical wizarding politics aside (generally anti-muggle, very pro-monarchy) the House of Commons was established alongside the House of Lords with the provision that No Crown set foot in the House of Commons thereafter, let alone attempt to interfere with politics. The Queen only shows up to the House of Lords once a year now, but it’s still respected out of tradition. And would influence wizarding politics in it’s own way.

We only ever see the Minister for Magic interacting with the Prime Minister, not with any member of the House of Lords but the leader of the majority of the House of Commons. It’s reasonable to assume that the Minister would also never or very rarely interact with the Queen of England; though Pottermore suggests the Crown isn’t aware if the existence of Wizarding England, or wasn’t in the Victorian Era at the least. If the Wizengamot does take the role of House of Lords it’s likely they have had interactions with the Queen if she knows. But furthermore it means that The Wizengamot shouldn’t be interfering with the affairs of the Ministry outside of their duties. The fact that in most Lord Potter fanfictions they do, should be a primary point of focus to politically based conflicts in this area.

One beef I have with Rowling is did she Have to include that line in ootp where Sirius mocks his family by calling them “the ancient and noble house of black”

Like imagine what a blissful fandom this would be without the misconception that the wizarding world have lords and ladies and “pureblood politics”, that Lucius Malfoy(who was never referred to as anything other than Mr. Malfoy in the books) is the leader of the “dark faction” in the wizengamot

The most ironic part is undoubtedly how fandom has turned this on Sirius, who in canon scorned everything about his family’s delusions, but who in fanfiction takes up the mantle of lord black and teaches harry- I mean lord potter-peverell-slytherin about “pureblood etiquette” and ballroom dancing and French and all those other things the pureblood heirs learn from birth, didn’t you know? Of course lord potter-peverell-slytherin also has a marriage contract with a prestigious pureblood family, because we wouldnt want this old, pure, line to end!

It’s also very rare that these practises are given any nuance. Like this goes against everything the books are really about, and yet these fics rarely criticise these archaic practices that favours the privileged, but often outright praise them

Endless Tower: The Front HP

The Front HP plays a very integral role in every ET run. 

As the Front HP, you are required to be very alert as you would be the one to resurrect the Champ immediately when he dies of tanking or luring. You also require to be tanky enough to lure or tank when the Champ gets disconnected or dies from afar.Your skill tree (Pictured are your most used and/or most important skills; your other skill points may be dedicated to other skills):

Please note that having Level 1 Resurrection is key to letting you have almost no delay after casting said skill. Thus it is recommended to get only Level 1 Resurrection to become an efficient HP. Having Level 2 is still tolerable, however, having more than that becomes a problem. Don't do it.

I also recommend having higher than level 1 Magnificat for your convenience but it totally depends on you unless you wanna dedicate the points to another skill. Some Front HPs don't even get this skill.

Your stats

97 Vitality 

To ensure that you are tanky enough to not get one hit by high-level mobs. This will also help you be immune, or almost, to certain Negative Buffs like Stun, Blind, Poison, Curse, etc. 

140 Dexterity 

Note that this is before the Blessing Buff. This helps you have no skill cast time that would be very beneficial during threatening times. 

60 Intelligence

Note that this is the minimum amount of total Intelligence to achieve at least 2000 Heal. The higher your heal amount is, the happier your Paladin is (I like having 3000 Heal, but that's just me).

10 Strength 

This stat point is what I call a Luxury Stat Choice. While it is not that important, having a few points in Strength will help you carry necessary consumables.

Your consumables

5 Green Potion 

While you are immune, or almost, to most negative buffs due to your high Vitality, you are not immune to Confusion. Confusion is when you ask your character to go left and it decides to go to the MVP and hit it with your staff, taking the aggro, causing your party to wipe. Just kidding. Confusion is that negative buff that makes your character go everywhere but that cell you intend it to go to. To remedy this, a quick chug of Green Potion helps. 

100 Condensed White Potion 

For that emergency Heal that cannot be achieved by your Heal and Sanctuary skills. Like when you are wearing GTB or when you were just resurrected and mobs are still all around you and you need to run. Since I am writing this, I recommend you buy Milk Chemist's Condensed White Potions. As of writing, she is not number 1 but she's up there.

50 Grape Juice 

For when your natural SP recovery rate can't keep up with the amount of SP you used for spamming buffs on every Sniper that yells "Buff pls".

Your gears:

Any Midgear Int+1 [Mistress Card]

Pussy Cat Bell (Recommended but not a requirement)

Gameplay

While you probably have played this class a bunch of times and would think you don't need tips in playing this role, that's great. But read this still.

For positioning, make sure you are never behind the Champ. This prevents you from dying from skills that are cast on the Champ like Sharpshoot, Meteor Storm, Brandish Spear, etc. Make sure you are always stacked with the Paladin, too. This helps you save time and effort for Pneuma casting.

Always buff, with Assumptio, the Champ, Paladin, and High Wizard. They are your Frontline Friends. Be their favourite.

It is important that you always lay Sanctuary under the Pally. In most MVPs, you need to cast Pneuma on the Paladin so that they would not be knocked back. If the Paladin gets knocked back, there is a high chance that Devotion would break, causing the Champ to take damage which might ultimately lead to his death. A dead Champ is a useless Champ. We don't want that. Protect the Paladin to protect the Champ at all costs.

In floors 87, or The Thor Floor, and 97, or The Odin Floor, make sure to cast Pneuma on the party, particularly on the Paladin as mobs cast Firebreath and Meteor Assault.

In floor 72, or The HP Floor, make sure you cast Safety Wall on Margaretha Solin before the Snipers go crazy. (If any Sniper is reading this, make our job easier and do not hit until it's in Safety Wall. Thanks very much.)

Ever since I have again became interested in class of 3000 on May 2nd and April 29th this year and decided to create my OWN reboot and my OWN redesigns for the characters and even dragged some attention to class of 3000 again, heres a second redesign of Lucius =^_^=

So, I have decided to change his body shape a bit after Seeing Aaliyah's @ducktopia90264 's design for him, I can say I gave him a body similar to Abbey's body shape from Monster high G4, and ofcourse, I gave him again the new hairstyle and even some details on his clothes and even some finger-rings, and I really like how he looks like =^w^= 💜

Ever since I have decided to create my OWN reboot of class of 3000 and even the redesigns for the characters since I have again became interested in it on May 2nd this year, here's a "swedish sassiness" a.k.a Lucius x Jan doodle I did last night =^_^=
