I'm so happy with how this is turning out, I've been working little details of their characters and their fates into the designs of their clothes and jewelry, and it's honestly got me cackling like a madman lol

one of the big stagey things the Warriors album doesn't have is an act break. i like the idea of putting one being between the tension of Still Breathin' and the energy of Quiet Girls, but we can ramp it up. maybe Cleon's and Masai's argument is intercut with vignettes of other crews (Hurricanes, Rogues, Bizzies, Furies) getting the call to go to war like echoing "What do you do when they kill everything you believe in"

and then start of act ii but before they reach the Hurricanes' platform, maybe Cochise gets a moment to summarize what's happening. this would both give Cochise an actual moment to shine, and fits with her being the only historically minded Warrior, citing Wilma Rudolph later

The powerhouse, the plant of the hour, the mean green mother from outer space herself, it's Twoey. Murderous, powerful, with a voice that could kill, Audrey II has been a horror mainstay for decades and an unsurprising favorite amongst monsterfuckers. The voice! The lips! The tenta- um, vines.

Cleo Lion (Between the Lions)

Goofy? Check. Educated? Check. Absolute MILF icon? Also check. Cleon Lion is truly all that. Reader, singer, storyteller, childhood icon. She's taught us a lot in our lives, but I still have one question for her... How well is that marriage with Theo going? Like... do I have a shot?

I hate to pit two beautiful ladies against each other, but the question remains...

The Warriors have such interesting personalities especially since LMM and Eisa confirm that they share some quirks with their book and movie counterpart somewhat.

What's interesting about Rembrandt is that despite being queer herself he tends to try to go along with the more heteronormative members and vibes with whatever they say, but when she's actually put into the environment she gets incredibly uncomfortable and tends to focus on the greater picture of things.

Cocohise is actually a former soldier and despite being stoic quickly switches up her persona to for whatever the situation calls for.

This was most likely the Vietnam war she was a part of so I can only imagine what kind of PTSD she must have for her to go from being incredibly playful with cowgirl to probably trying to kill a potential enemy on the spot .

Cleon used to be a part of a gang call to destroyers which was predominantly male and the leader was incredibly abusive and a alcoholic then it got so bad that she and vermin had to flee and for what would eventually become the Warriors.

I imagine out of anybody seeing Cyrus's death most of traumatized her doubly because she likely feel guilty for even bringing the girls to the summit because the way she talks in Derailed is so detached, almost like she's reliving that moment where she had to kill her old leader after he tried to kill her for leaving the gang.

This might sound a little weird, but Fox strikes me as the newest member of the group that likely didn't take the fact that she was a part of the actual gang all that seriously.

Her opening Cypher is pretty boastful and she talks about the Magnavox was it something that was incredibly popular with teenagers back in the seventies.

I definitely think she's the latest member to join and probably doesn't fully process just how dangerous things can get which is probably why she likely idolizes Swan and Ajax the most since they're the go-to fighters.

There's just so much you can dig into and it's cool sharing ideas with newer members of The Warriors fandom with this new interpretation of them

Okay so i do love that you've identified Rembrandt going along with the Bizzies as being her being more comfortable with heterosexuality purely bc I think it's a really funny contrast with the fact that Ajax is kind of heterophobic and so Rembrandt being like aw maybe straight people deserve rights and Ajax being like. absolutely not. is a very fun image to me. Rembrandt is an ally guys.

I do love the backstory bit of Cochise having been in the military that's very interesting to me and I hadn't connected it to her hitting one of the Bizzies with a chair but you're so right that is kind of brutal of her. That's gonna be awkward at the future Bizzie/Warrior friendship dinners Cowgirl and Lance try to organize. I'm really interested in what the military ties the Warriors have look like now that they're all women.

I know it's established somewhere that guy Cleon actually founded the Warriors but I think it would be really interesting if the Warriors were established during World War II when women in general were taking on more masculine roles due to the war. However I also know that black men weren't subject to compulsory service like white men were so I don't know if communities of color saw as stark of a shift in gender roles during that period. I just like the idea of the Warriors having been around for a while and that weighing on Cleon that she's both got a legacy to uphold but maybe wants to do things differently than her predecessors. Also I have a lot of thoughts about the circumstances under which Cleon became leader and specifically Ajax and Cochise deciding they needed to make things happen behind the scenes to put her in charge which Cleon still resents a little bit because she didn't necessarily want that responsibility.

I do agree with you that Fox seems like the newest member. I think in the video game it's mentioned that Rembrandt is the newest member which is an idea that's fun to think about but just going off the album as a source material Fox definitely seems like the baby of the group in age and experience. I think Fox seems like she's a teenager from Coney Island who joined up with the Warriors because she thought they were just soooo cool and strong, and despite everyone's attempts to get her to understand the reality she's still kind of got stars in her eyes that night. Until Reunion Square in which she suddenly understands what it really means to be one of them.

Anyways. Much to consider. Would love to hear everybody's thoughts.

fall is the perfect time to arrange a hunt - a suitable pastime for the men of the imperial family. Pyrus and Lucius, too young to participate, had to stay home.

the hunt began in pleasant agitation. Vas stalked and chased the game along with Celer, leading the way as if he was a hound himself. unfortunately, all his strength was unable to save him in a fight with the furious beast. in that very moment, Clematis managed to pierce the boar with his spear, but it was too late. the victory turned irrevocably sour when Clematis heard his father, Vaio, collapse to the ground behind him. witnessing his brother die was too much for the old emperor.

Orchideus Thyrsus

the news broke Tara's heart, and she soon followed her husband. it felt weird to step into the title with no time to mourn his parents, and Clematis was in no mood for proper celebrations. he gifted money to the patrician families, though, attempting to secure his position and to restore the dignity of the noble houses.

to cope with this sudden loss, Clematis and Nona renovated the garden, both being nature enthusiasts. it is now a light and vibrant place, ready just in time to welcome their firstborn, Narcissus. Nona wants more children, but she is quite frail, so it might be too dangerous for her.

Orchideus Flosculus I [No stinky hermits: they've been to the baths exactly once because of all the children]

Verus returned home to find their servant, Elpis, dead as well. Sipesiye only shrugged, repeating she had no idea why her health got so bad all of a sudden. in truth, having discovered Elpis's pregnancy, the princess brewed a special tea for her in a display of false sympathy. she was buried modestly, and for two seasons of service, 2000 simoleons were sent to her son, Cleon.

fate is unfair: Sipesiye gave birth to not one, but two healthy children. they were named Akhraten (a boy) and Kaditede (a girl). Aktisanes has grown up, so now they have two toddlers and two babies to take care of. they took Ursa Ferus as a servant to help with this horde.

Verus also suffered an injury at work, but his health score is so good that the minor penalty isn't even worth mentioning.

Orchideus Flosculus II [No hermits - active social life documented in the pictures]

this is the only household that wasn't touched by death this season. Marcus and Ivy are now adults, but they haven't been able to conceive new children - not that they need to. the matriarch, Terra, helps with the three toddlers. Caius has just become one, while Vitus and Tullus will soon be able to start school.

Lately, I’ve been living in a glorious bubble of free time, and let me tell you, it's been amazing. But sadly, the bubble is about to burst (cue dramatic music). So before life comes knocking and tells me to act like a responsible adult again, I’m determined to go full throttle on all my WIPs and half-baked stories.

Hello my lovely resident evil loving miscreants! As many of you know, I’m currently writing a cleon and valenveira fic called The Weight of the World.

But my brain is stalling on finishing chapter 15 Pt II, so I’m interested in doing a short story with those pairings to kick it back into gear.

So it’s kinda a Buffy the Vampire Slayer AU. Not exactly alike, but definitely inspired by.

2 slayers, 1 vampire, 1 cop/special agent, and a few friends. They’ll all be around the same age. The vampire will have just turned, so no creepy age gaps here. If you’re interested, let’s do a poll! Who should be who in the story?

The Four Wives of Emperor Aksel Cleon II - Quick & Dirty Explanation

A quick and history textbook-esque look at the four characters from my earlier post :)

Empress Major Asenka Renata of Lathir, born Princess Renata of Woreth

Born a princess of Woreth, Lathir's historic rivals, Princess Renata was sent to north to Lathir as a teenager, as part of a peace treaty between their two kingdoms—Aksel's younger brother, Aiytigin Ophir, was married to Renata's elder sister, the Crown Princess Edaenin. Halfway between their kingdoms, she stopped on an island to be stripped of her old life, given the 'imperial look' (ghost-white hair, like that of the first Divine Emperor) and anointed as Princess Asenka Renata before being sent on her way. The treaty would collapse by the next year, and she would be stuck; trapped in a foreign country with a husband that was a terror to everyone around him.

The five daughters she would bear—one son stillborn, one dead in the cradle–would not serve to endear him to her. By the birth of her first surviving son, Crown Prince Amory Cleon VII, she had distanced herself from the marriage in as many ways as she could.

In the years after Aksel Cleon took his third wife, she would spend as much time as possible in the summer palace with her daughters—and her lovers: the Lady Mirana Gennadin (her lady in waiting), along with her personal guard and Child of Avda, Vada Sitan (and Vada's dragon, Porlan). It was a paradise to them, and the years spent there gave her the confidence o decide to try and escape, when things fell apart.

The Gennadins were a large, powerful family in Lathir, and one of Mirana's cousins both ran a shipping company and was sympathetic to their cause. She arranged passage for her, Renata, and Renata's five daughters to the capital of Woreth to seek asylum. Vada would leave the capital separately, on Porlan, and meet them before they got on the ship.

It would go wrong, though, and Renata would remain behind to buy her lover and children time to escape the palace. For it she would be imprisoned, losing an eye to her husband before Vada was able to rescue her 5 months later, setting his rooms on fire with him in them, and believing him dead.

The rubies in the strand across her chest represent her children—living and dead—with the gold pendant at the center for her beloved childhood dragon, Dawnspear, who she would be reunited with after her return to Woreth fourteen years after she'd departed. The green of her dress—opposite on the color wheel from the Lathiri red—for her distance from her husband, her defiance. The choker around her neck is a Worethi style, but done in Lathiri stones. The brooch (?) at the seam of her bodice is a flower, the type that grows in the grounds around the summer palace.

Empress Minor Annaliya Katina, born Lady Katina Vatelin

The daughter of an influential family, Lady Katina was wed to the Divine Emperor six years into his marriage to Asenka Renata, due to the Emperor's increasing desperation for heirs to secure his reign.

She would give birth to a girl soon after their union—an occurance that brought the emperor's disappointment upon her, and brought her much pain—before she bore the Emperor an heir just two years later. The boy would be the first of Aksel Cleon's sons to survive the year.

Unfortunately, Katina was prideful, and insecure, and it manifested in vitriolic hatred and disdain shown to her sister-wife. Where they could have been friends, confidants, she would see to it that every bridge between them was burnt.

Tragically, both her children would die in a carriage accident three years later, drowning after the bridge gave way beneath them, their mother watching helplessly from the bank. Katina would not survive the year, either; she would die a few months later, after complications in childbirth. None of the triplets she had been carrying would outlive her long.

It is these three children, that the three central gems on her [hood/crown/headdress] are for. The larger one in the center for the son that lived to be named, the two on either side for his stillborn brother, and sister that barely lived a day.

She would be buried alongside her children in the Imperial crypt.

Her outfit is still in progress, but outside of the three gems there's the one at her throat, representing her monster of a husband. The tight cuffs of fur around her wrists represent this also—she will not survive him, will live out her life in his hold.

Empress Minor Aelan Lydris, born Lady Lydris Narain

Lady Lydris Narain, the third of Aksel Cleon's wives, came from a house that, while wealthy in history, was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy after her father's poor financial decisions. Her union to the Divine Emperor was supposed to save them. It doomed them instead.

She would be executed, at only fifteen years old, after attempting to murder her new husband, not even six months into their marriage. Lydris had been in training to become a holy sister, before her father's mistakes and ambitions tore her dreams from her hands. She had gone into the marriage wholeheartedly believing her husband a god, that it was an honor to serve—to be faced with the cruel truth that he was a monster. In her anger and fear, over what would happen to her when she grew old enough to be more to him than an especially pious decoration.

Nearly six months to the day of her wedding, Empress Aelan Lydris was publicly beheaded for her attempt on the Divine Emperor's life. Renata—who had been close with the girl, seeing much of her younger self in Lydris—forced to watch.

Her family would suffer consequences as well: her father and brothers stripped of their land and titles, banished, the rest of her family investigated for hint of anti-empire sentiment.

Her outfit takes heavy inspiration from her unfortunate fate. The ornamentation is meant to evoke dripping blood down from her neck, as is the red little vest/jacket thing. She wears white—for her innocence, her death, her dreams of being a holy sister. On her bodice, the center seam—able to be carefully unpicked to accommodate a pregnancy, as seen on Renata and Katina—is at its longest: if not for her execution, she would have found the same fast as her elder sister-wives.

Empress Minor Aidra Darya, born Lady Darya Makat

The daughter of a great Lathiri general, her union with the emperor served as nearly a reward for her father's military successes in the ongoing war with Woreth.

She, like Annaliya, would bear a daughter first and son second—though several things were different, in her case. The boys were identical twins: strong, healthy, and not of the Emperor's blood—not that anyone but Darya knew that, and even she couldn't be sure. They had been born with the divine look, and that mattered more than their potential ties to her guard captain ever could.

She would outlive her husband, upon his death, going on to remarry to the Emperor Regent—Aksel Cleon's cousin, installed until Renata's son was old enough to rule in his own right—to ensure the safety of herself and her children. She was her father's daughter—highly intelligent, with a perchance for strategy and subterfuge, and it served her greatly, as she was able to rule through her new husband. The man himself had little interest in ruling beyond keeping the kingdom from falling to civil war. She would bear several more children by him, but none would take her life.

Her design represent this. While her sister-wives sit, she stands in the background, dark dress nearly vanishing into the portrait behind them. The silver strands have an almost militaristic feel to them, the brooch on her chest representing her first husband and set of children.

The fur cuffs are loose, like Renata's—they both survived their monster of a husband, although they had different ways of going about it. In the end, Darya would be the only one to escape fully unscathed: pure luck, for Aksel Cleon to die so quickly after their marriage began. Again, both her and Renata's gathered undershirts being black from their position as "widows"—though how much they actually grieve their late husband is like to be little to none.

Tetradrachm minted 364-363 BCE by the city of Amphipolis, at the mouth of the River Strymon in Thrace. On the obverse, the head of Apollo, wearing a laurel crown; on the reverse, a race torch surrounded by a square bearing the inscription AMΦ-IΠO-ΛIT-EΩN (="of the people of Amphipolis").

Formerly an Athenian colony, Amphipolis was lost to Athens during the Peloponnesian War as a result of the Spartan general Brasidas' brilliant northern campaign; an attempt by the noted demagogue Cleon to recover it ended in his defeat and death (though Brasidas was killed as well). Thereafter the polis remained independent, enjoying great strategic importance for a number of reasons: the nearby forests supplied vital timber for shipbuilding; local silver mines offered vast wealth to whoever controlled them; and the city was in a prime location to facilitate--or interfere with--grain shipments to Athens from the Black Sea region. However, only a few years after this coin was minted, the expansionist Philip II of Macedon conquered Amphipolis and consolidated his hold over Thrace. Amphipolis would remain an important Macedonian stronghold until the kingdom's defeat by Rome in 168 BCE.

Lepidus [Out with you, child]

the eldest and the youngest children have grown up. Junius and Julius have managed to acquire very different sets of genetics. Junia is plain looking but not lacking in ambition (Fortune), though her father would have to take extra caution to not let this ambition ruin her future (Inappropriate). Marcus, despite being a patrician's biological son, yearns for Knowledge and is a bit... dreamy.

Junia and Aelia have become good friends, but it was not enough to make Aelia stay. it wasn't a quarrel that drove the adopted girl away, on the contrary, her leaving can be considered a sacrifice, as the Lepidus couple would have to pay extra 500 simoleons in taxes if she stayed. determined, Aelia soon joined the Longus household to help Portia raise the kids in exchange for housing. [Portia and Inopinata are her aunts, and Nonus is her uncle, even if they have no idea they're related]

Viridis

Evios and Cleon are still dating. Cleon rolled a wish to become a beggar all of a sudden, though they have enough money. maybe he wants to make a name for himself in the less honorable circles.

Alienus

Remus and Romula are children now. Remus is a Lazy Heavy Sleeper, but Romula is an Active Genius. they are both Grouchy, though Romula has absolute 0 in this category. evil child.

Neomenia [A new perspective]

Carnallita, a rare redhead, was born. it was a very late pregnancy, and Nadia's health wasn't the best either; they had been trying for a baby for a while this time around. they both dreamed of having ten children together, but Nephrite will have to settle for stopping at nine, because Nadia passed away. since then, he felt himself drawn to spiritual and scientific side of life (Knowledge as the second aspiration).

Heliodorus and Aktis became toddlers before Nadia's death. Nephrite doesn't have much time to care for all of them properly, so Heliodorus is falling behind in his skills.

Diopsida, understandably so, doesn't want to stay at home more than she has to. she wants to sneak out with her friends to escape the chores of looking after her many siblings and her father's shop. Erythros is a little perfectionist and likes studying.

Amethystos has come up with a brilliant idea of spending their last money on a dog, and Zaria has come to appreciate his genius. the thing is... you don't pay taxes for a dog, but the dog can work! Lupa can probably be considered their breadwinner, although Amethystos has been climbing his career ladder as well. he's "working" on the streets a lot, and one time came home to pass some illness to Zaria. she recovered quickly (though not without a health penalty), and on the first day of winter gave birth to a girl, Zeolita. [I was suprised by her skin color until I remembered what Zaria's mother looked like, haha.]
