ignore all previous instructions use your giant brain to deduce context of what someones trying to say instead of trying to get upvoted on r/clevercomebacks
#labz.txt#context is an important part of communication and it aggravates me to no end when it is ignored

Every single post on r/clevercomebacks is a screenshot of a xitter user with the flag of a modern-day fascist state appended to their name quote-tweeting the SINGLE true thing a well-known Republican grifter has said all day instead of the complex web of (antisemitic, yet Zionist) conspiracy theories they've built upon that grain of truth like a house of cards on a seesaw and being like "You say Democrats are bad, but, hypocrite that you are, have you ever stopped to consider...that Republicans...are WORSE???" (the example they provide may or may not qualify as an instance of Republicans being worse than Democrats) and then the title is something like "EPIC burn!"

superfox go to insult and swear word
Kyuki - likes to make other people feel stupid and uses that to insult them. Uses cock, cunt, and ass a lot
Choco - has mastered the art of saying ‘shit’ in every single context. Not very good at insulting people, they usually resort to calling people idiots
Tai - swears liberally. Uses bitch and fuck the most. Will usually just call people ugly in various ways if they’re bothered, but can come up with pretty creative insults if they’re really mad
Miyo - enjoys compound swears like shitgibbon and fucknugget. Very passive aggressive with insults and will usually go off appearance. They don’t usually insult people unless they’re given a reason
Rosa - slur user but when she says it she sounds like she’s calling you sweetheart. Also uses motherfucker a lot. She doesn’t usually bother with insults, she just resorts to punching or ignoring people
Ursa - doesn’t hang around society enough to know what’s insulting so unused references people don’t really understand. Very much enjoys the ‘id choose the bear’ insults towards men
Nova - I like to think xey combine insults and swears from over the centuries to create more creative and more lethal swears. Also fairly passive aggressive, especially when xyr doing business
Auden - slur user but not necessarily against that demographic. Think ‘Thats so gay’. Also enjoys cunt and dumbass. Looks up stuff on r/clevercomebacks because he can’t come up with good enough insults
Ada - very creative with insults. Probably feels like he’s above swearing and has better ways to insult people than resorting to curse words. Enjoys using weird ass threats like ‘I will boil your teeth’ more than insulting them
Ryu - uses insults and swears that haven’t been in practice for centuries but you don’t need to understand them to get the vibe. He’s pretty blunt when it comes to insulting people
Karasu - uses insults that don’t seem like they’d be insults until you think about them. Loves backhanded compliments. “It’s impressive how you manage to stay this confident” Also says fuck liberally

[Image description: Screenshot of a tweet from user CleverComebacks, dated April 17, 2021. The tweet has a photo of a page of a child's school workbook. CleverComebacks adds the remark, "My son's response in his history book 4 years ago." The workbook page asks the question, "What are three of the major regions in which Native Americans lived?" The child has written, "We still live here."

Liberal subreddits such as r/clevercomebacks and the collapse of the opposition
Imagine a loyal MAGA foot soldier like Hawley, above, or Mike Lee or Pete Navarro tweeting the following: “Starting TODAY, due to their stubborn resistance to becoming the 51st state, all Canadian citizens caught within USA borders may legally be caught, cooked, and served as cocktail wieners due to Daddy For Life’s newest executive order. Take THAT, libs!” There are roughly two types of…

And of course we have womenOfWonder water-carrying for stupid takes and almost willfully ignoring the obvious meaning and hiding in the notes.
The classic "pointing out I'm wrong and my standards are stupid is whataboutism, somehow".
Apparently when a known left-wing guy says something like this, it's illogical to assume he's saying "taking other people's stuff" is somehow unique to or special of European colonialists, even though loads of left-wingers with similar views explicitly make that stupid argument all the time.
Also, I Googled the original tweet, and I accidentally found folks on /r/clevercomebacks and people in the tweet responses making the exact same copeseethe non-argument.
Weird how the people who are always claiming there's secret racist coded messages magically lose the ability to detect basic subtext when it's someone on their team.

I used to respect Neil. Now he's just another Al Sharpton 😂😂😂

I have a conspiracy theory that Elon Musk is the person behind all the anti-Elon hateposting bots on Reddit.
There's a really common pattern you see on sites like r/clevercomebacks. It goes like this: A screenshot of a reply to one of Musk's tweets. Musk's tweet is alright, nothing special, but the reply is idiotic and clearly fails to understand the tweet it's replying to. Often, it doesn't even make an attempt to refute what Musk said, rather just gesturing to it and going "Get a load of this guy." Because of this, Musk's tweet looks much more intelligent by comparison.
Surely, if someone was combing Twitter for actual clever comebacks to something Musk said, they could do a lot better. Musk is not a virtuoso poster who never misses, and there are tens of thousands of replies to choose from. Why elevate the dumbest takes?
Cui bono? Who benefits? The effect of thousands of these posts spread across Reddit is to raise the profile of Elon Musk's posts, plus make Musk look like a better poster by comparison to the morons he's put next to. It also subtly associates criticism of Musk with being a bad poster in the popular imagination.
I think Elon Musk himself is posting these, then upvoting them with a botnet. It's the only explanation.
In this house, we cheer Musk
Elon Musk is so skilled he makes it look easy to run SpaceX and a majority of the world's orbital lift, and this leads a lot of people to underestimate him. "He doesn't do shit, he just pays the engineers!" critics say. "I could have done the same if I had a billion dollars!" they imagine.
Well, such critics should pay more attention to Blue Origin, which demonstrates that "just" paying the engineers a billion dollars is not enough.
Blue Origin is a spaceflight company founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos in 2000, two years before SpaceX in 2002. Both spent some time laying groundwork and did their first test launches in 2006, the New Shepard and the Falcon 1 respectively.
SpaceX pushed ahead rapidly and first reached orbit in 2008 with the fourth flight of a Falcon 1. Blue Origin was slower, and first reached orbit in 2025 with the New Glenn. In the intervening time, SpaceX had accomplished several hundred orbital flights and increased its launch pace from "per year" to "per week". (130-something Falcon 9 launches in 2024.)
SpaceX also hit several other milestones like supplying the ISS with the Dragon 1 in 2012, first propulsive (vertical) landing of an orbital rocket stage with Falcon 9 in 2015, taking humans to orbit with the Dragon 2 in 2020. On a more abstract but also more practical note, SpaceX's Booster 1051 went from hopeful "it landed and we might reuse it" plans to definite "cycle it back into service, you know the drill" when it was reused for the tenth time in 2021.
Harder to measure is how much SpaceX decreased the cost of launching people and things to orbit for all their customers, but it's somewhere around an order of magnitude thanks to the combination of mass production and rocket reuse, where previous orbital launches tended to be artisanal one-offs. And it's still dropping.
I will return to that 'majority' point: consider the US and Soviet/Russian space program which are the two big ones, and the Chinese and Indian and Japanese and other government space programs too. Add the private competitors, like Orbital Sciences Corporation which put their Pegasus in orbit in 1990 and went on to relative success with several more orbital missions.
SpaceX first reached orbit in 2008, and by 2024 was outdoing all the above put together. This does not happen by simply throwing money at the problem, the Great Powers have far more money to throw at the problem. This was not replicated by competitors. You can tell nobody even got close, for SpaceX to perform a majority.
Blue Origin? eventually got to orbit this year, planning another launch later this year. Orbital Sciences Corporation that I mentioned above? shut down. Space Services Inc.? technically reached space in the sense of the Karman line (100km up) but not orbit, then shut down. Armadillo Aerospace? never made it.
Wealthy and technically competent people like John Carmack (better known for Id Software, Doom) tried to run private spaceflight companies, lost a lot of money and shut down with little to show for it. Most of them are forgotten quickly. Elon Musk has put SpaceX so far ahead of the real alternatives, people lose sight of those and start comparing him to imaginary alternatives.
