Today is the big day ! The REVEAAAAL of my secret project. Because yes I've been working days on this 15 objects kit !

A little lore about the Desk Mess CC Kit : Maybe you know it, maybe you don't I AM FRENCH. And I play The Sims since... I am 11 or 12 yo. When I discovered the great world of custom contents, I was awestruck. So, I started downloading a loooooot of them. Never thinking one day I would make my own. Then in Covid 2020 I tried Blender. And a new world opened to me. It was hard. But I am very stubborn. I failed a lot. But I kept trying. So the first time I successfully added MY OWN CC into MY GAME and it worked I thought, OK THIS IS IT. I WANT TO LEARN MORE. You are going to ask yourself, why is she telling this. Why being French has something to do with this CC Kit, and I'll tell you why. As a Sims 4 addict, I watch a lot of content about Sims 4. And I have a favorite French Youtuber I follow since 2019 @kapands ! I loved her content so much, I followed her on Twitch. And I loved even more the community there. I was so happy to add my contribution to the 2024 secret Advent Calendar the community is gifting her. Following her all these years, I knew custom content was taking a great place in her way of playing The Sims 4. So I challenged myself (really afraid to fail) to create a CC Kit centred around one of her character : Bella. (2nd gen of the Into The Forest Challenge).

Reading The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest so You Don't Have To

...Okay, let me explain.

The year is 2015. I'm 14 years old and I have no idea what fanfiction is. I barely know what fandom is. I have no clue what's going on in life (and arguably still don't, but whatever). BUT. I am already a huge Nintendo geek. Me and my brothers have recently acquired Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, and have just completed the entirety of its epic adventure mode: The Subspace Emissary. It was, as everyone knows, freaking awesome. The ultimate crossover that every Nintendo fan had ever wanted. It was a dream come true.

And then it was over. Oops. We just ran out of game to play. Awkward. But... there was a hint of something more going on with Subspace. Not everything in the game was fully explained. There is, incidentally, a reason for this. Due to constraints not all of the Subspace story was able to be properly implemented in the game. So Masahiro Sakurai, the game's creator, had to explain a couple of extra stuff on the game's website.

So naturally, past me took to the internet. And eventually he'd stumble upon the Smash Dojo website and get all of his questions answered, scratching the itch that the search for knowledge always inspires in people. But the thing is, when you put something into Google search, it's autocomplete will give you suggestions, trying to guess what you're typing before you type it so you don't have to type the whole thing. And lo and behold, when past me typed in "the subspace emissary" into the search bar...

Excuse me? What the heck is this? Since when does the Subspace Emissary have a "Worlds Conquest"? What even is a "Worlds Conquest"? That's not correct grammar, is it? Is this a game mode I missed? A separate game? Some extra lore? Something completely unrelated to Smash Bros that just happens to have the words "Subspace Emissary" in it??? At first I ignored it in favor of getting the original information I was looking for, but since I am a geek and was hyperfixated on Subspace at the time curiosity got the better of me. I searched "the subspace emissary's worlds conquest" and clicked the first (non-ad) link that popped up.

Poor precious baby me. You had no idea what you were in for.

The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest is a Super Smash Bros. fanfiction written by AuraChannelerChris on fanfiction.net. It is not, as you may have heard claimed, the longest piece of fiction ever written. At this point, it's not even the longest piece of Smash Bros. fanfiction ever written, which is an absurd thing to think about. But at one point it was a contender for the title of longest piece of fiction, and it's certainly one of the most famous. Worlds Conquest currently has over four million words (4,102,217 according to TvTropes.org) meaning it's one heck of a doorstopper.

It was initially published on March 4th, 2008 (right about when Smash Bros. Brawl was being released in the United States) and continued to update for quite a while. By the time past me discovered it in 2015, around 220 chapters had been published. That number would soon be brought up to 221, while the author was also going back and rewriting earlier chapters to have a higher standard of quality. Its most recent update was in June of 2018, with another chapter rewrite, and there hasn't been any indication of further updates since. It's just sitting there on ff.net. 221 chapters. Unfinished.

But just because it's unfinished doesn't mean it's any less of an epic read. Some of the individual chapters are longer than full length novellas. This thing is a behemoth that EARNED its reputation in the fandom circles. It's almost hard to believe the project was initially started with the goal of helping the author (a native Spanish-speaker) improve at English.

What is The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest about? To summarize, it's about the author's original character Chris (not confirmed to be a Self-Insert, but I have suspicions) teaming up with just about the entire Smash Bros. Brawl roster to save all of reality from the Subspace Army, which unfortunately didn't stay down after getting beaten up during the events of the original game's Adventure Mode. This involves visiting the worlds of a lot of different games and engaging in all sorts of shenanigans. Pretty much every game franchise you can think of gets a story arc associated with it, with multiple overarching myth arcs as the so-called "Smashers" make gradual progress against the forces of evil. Is it kind of generic, as fanfic premises go? Yes. "My OC gets to hang out with the main cast" stories are a dime a dozen. But this story managed to go on for way longer than any other of its kind, and was supported from start to finish. Its reputation continues to attract people to it to this day! So I'd say that's got to be worth something.

Okay, back to past me. Again, at the beginning of 2015, I had no idea what a fanfiction even was. My main priorities in life were geeking out over the latest Pokemon game, eating Kraft Mac & Cheese (the best food to ever grace this planet's surface), and procrastinating every single middle school homework assignment I ever received. To me, Worlds Conquest was not a fanfiction, nor was it one of the longest works of fiction ever written, it was just "this cool story I found online". And it was cool. 14-year-old me was HOOKED. I spent just about every ounce of my free time on my phone reading it. I am a very fast reader. I read all of Homestuck in under a month, But this took me significantly longer to get through! But I had never seen anything like it before! It gripped me in a chokehold and didn't let me go. For a few months, this fanfic was my life. I would read it in bed after my parents went to sleep (Mom and Dad if you're somehow on tumblr and reading this, don't act surprised, I know I was NOT as subtle about it as I thought I was). I would read it instead of doing homework (DO NOT DO THIS PEOPLE HOMEWORK IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO GET DONE). I definitely didn't understand everything that was going on in it. Not only was I a relatively sheltered child, but I also just hadn't played that many video games, and Worlds Conquest references a LOT of them. But still I read on, and on, and on...

And then, once the whole dang story was over and I was done, I clicked the next link that pops up when you search "the subspace emissary's worlds conquest", which at the time was the link to the fic's TvTropes.org page. I didn't know what TvTropes was. Turns out it's one HECK of a gateway drug to fandom, fanfic, and media in general. I fell down the fandom rabbit hole and have been quietly disappointed by the lengths of all the fanfics I've read ever since. Turns out when a doorstopper fic is your introduction to fanfiction it warps your perspective a little. But I've still had a ton of fun! A few years later, I went back and actually reread the whole thing again just for kicks, and because I must be insane.

But now? Now it's been ten years since I first read Worlds Conquest. I've read way more fics since then, and honestly my standards in whether I like a fanfiction or not have probably gone up significantly. I've definitely gotten better at looking for quality and not just quantity, to be sure. So that leads me to wonder...

Is Worlds Conquest ACTUALLY good? Or am I just biased?

So I've decided I'm going to reread it. Seriously, this time. And since I actually know how to do research now and have learned about more games that AREN'T Pokemon in the past decade, I won't just skim through the bits that I don't understand. Does this story deserve to be revered as a titan, a benchmark for other long fics to surpass? Or is it just overrated? Personally, I really hope it's still good as I remember it being, or at least somewhat decent. But you never know. So time to read it again and double-check! Right? ...Right???

And chances are, you're probably curious to know if The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest is any good too! Nobody has the time to read massive doorstoppers in this day and age unless they're like. Retired. And retired people are significantly less likely to read fanfiction, statistically speaking. All you people who actually are interested have stuff like work, or school, and extreme bouts of apathy caused by depression, which prevent you from spending time reading one of the longest fanfictions to ever grace this beautiful Earth with its presence. Especially since it's unfinished, right? No point in committing if it's not DONE.

But lucky you! You don't HAVE to commit! Because I've decided on committing FOR you, assuming I actually have the chutzpah to follow through. (Historically I don't, but now I have the internet to hold me accountable!) The goal with this is for me to reread all of Worlds Conquest and summarize it for you, likely chapter-by-chapter, so that you still get to learn just what the heck this astounding monster of a fic is about without having to do all the work yourself. I get to reexperience my childhood and view the story with fresh eyes, and you get to become educated in this definitely important fandom icon. It's a win-win!

So come along with me, as we jump right into the experience of a lifetime, reading The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest-

See, the thing is, Worlds Conquest is not a work that exists in isolation. It's actually a sequel. Though thankfully its predecessor work, AuraChannelerChris's The Bond of Aura, is much, MUCH shorter than its sequel, and is significantly less plot-heavy. But it still provides some really important context that's convenient to have when going into Worlds Conquest. It's not mandatory per se, obviously I didn't read it when I first discovered the behemoth and I was fine. But it's still helpful, and provides some info such as:

More details on who the Protagonist of Worlds Conquest is and what his backstory is like.

Explaining why he's able to HAVE the insane adventure he's about to go on without it disrupting his life in the "real" world too much.

03/14/2025 Progress Update:

TLDR: A little over 1K more drafted today, we're at a bit over 17K. Draft is very close to complete. ETA for draft is this weekend, hopefully editing done by next weekend. Then however long it takes to beta!

Got into my writing mode as soon as I got home (made a whole fire in my fire pit and everything) AAAND got super distracted because I forgot about the open house tomorrow. So, had to clean, fold laundry, do dishes, tuck away tarantula enclosures, etc. Then read Believe's awesome fic (GO READ PLS) and about to proofread watermelpm's Kokichi character analysis (that is ALSO cool and you should read when she posts, will link when she does).

All just to say I think more than 1K drafted today is an accomplishment for all I had going on lmao. And we are extremely extremely close to ch 5 being completely drafted. I'd say probably less than 1K words away (DO NOT HOLD ME TO THAT, YOU KNOW ME AND MY FUCKING YAPS).

Most happy news of this is I finally feel like I got my head around the second section, which was killing me. Shuichi was just not clicking for me and I think I tweaked his motivations/thought process enough to get it where I need it. I'm still iffy on the conclusion of the section and will likely ask beta if it's adequate or if another idea I had to end it is better (SO EXCITING having a beta for this thing btw, though I'm gonna have such a hard time not spoiling for them).

Otherwise, it's just wrapping up the third section and we gucci to start editing. Which I don't anticipate taking me TERRIBLY long because I already have tweaked so much of this draft that I've sorta edited a bit already lmao (I try not to let myself do that but we broke the rules a bit this time).

In other uhhhh baby writing news, I sorta wrote 1K of a one-shot idea between last night and this morning lmao. My friend is the only one privileged to know about said project rn (because they gave me the idea when I was talking their ear off about Kiwi lore lmao) and it will probably stay that way for a while, 'cause idk when I'll finish it (I gotta at least get ch 5 and 6 out, then f&f chapter 2 probably; I'm gonna have to make a list of projects on my tumblr or something now lmao). BUT BUT it's an idea that I'm literally in love with, like I can't explain to you how much I like it. Mostly because it's another self-indulgent one and using my own niche knowledge in random ass shit. Write what you know!

Small stuff today. For some reason I had big urges to edit Roper's page on the SWTD wiki. I fixed some layout issues and added images and additional text. Don't think I'll attempt fixing the rest right now. It won't run away, just have no clue what people will think who edit the wiki.

I found it cool to see all the info I gathered of Roper. The fact that such a minor character had so many small details hidden everywhere.

Another small thing I realised is I should start tackling the contents shown on Wikipedia too for my vid. I can see a bunch of references linked in there too.

Also, there are some other titles mentioned where Still Wakes The Deep took inspiration from.

Annoying Spoilers from people and thoughts on Gambit (aka Chanbit)

I've waited long enough, so here we go. Sooo, one of my friends calls me their resident hillbilly translator, any time someone has an american accent usually southern they can't figure out they send me a link and ask me to translate. TWO DAYS before the new deadpool movie is out in theaters here, they message me with a link to a thing all desperately "Miche, Miche, what is he saying?!?" and stupidly i clicked it not knowing... and THIS WAS HOW I FOUND OUT ABOUT GAMBIT BEFORE I WENT TO SEE THE MOVIE!

Let me tell you, i have never been more in a state between utter rage and screeching glee and yet both at the same time in my life. The things they heard from me about it before being put on the "we're not speaking til i'm less mad at you" list have not left a miche's mouth in a long time. And yes, i could translate for em, but did i? no.

Did i secretly rewatch that clip to death til it got removed from twitter before going to the movie myself? mayyyyybe.

First off, I do not find Channing Tatum attractive, he looks like my dad, no really. If you find him attractive, good for you, you probably have the same taste in guys as my mom, which is awesome for you but not my thing. That said, i giggled like an idiot with a giant grin every time even in the theater because he actually managed to finally live his dream and get in the costume after a couple decades of trying, and do a decent job of it onscreen.

Also, yes, I'm annoyed about the eyes. Everything else, good, the eyes, minus fifty points, maybe more. Didn't even need full sclerals just some red lenses, full scleral contacts i'd forgive em not using because I've known enough cosplayers who have trouble with em after long hours, just... they used the Diable Blanc nickname but didn't give him his eyes which was the reason he had the nickname. adding the teeny tiny glow to em using the powers, okay you tried but no star sticker.

The accent, having known a couple people from down that way over the years, yeah not bad that's a damn hard accent to do and it varies all over the place so no one accent covers, could be worse. People are so used to the cartoon version's deliberately fake so that it's easier to understand accent that any attempt at the real thing which is hard as hell to understand already to other people sounds weird, and they were playing it up to be worse for the joke in the movie.

Also, for those who don't know the ancient lore, at one point during the original 90's cartoon casting, they GOT someone with an actual Cajun accent to read for Gambit in the beginning, then decided kids and casual viewers wouldn't be able to understand it so they had another actor IMITATE a watered-down easier-to-understand version of his accent for a test, and decided to go with that idea instead when they cast the final actor.

Buuut, long post is long, so I'll sum up by saying, he may not be the best but he did decent, and i'm slowly no longer ignoring the friend who was a dumbass and spoiled it for me. Also, no, I am not from the south, but get used as the weird accent translator because i am originally from so far deep in the mountains of Appalachia that i had to have several years of speech classes to get rid of the worst of the hillbilly noises i myself made. I still slip once in a while when tired or distracted, but the "city voice" has been in place for around 25/30 years now. One of my first college roommates actually called me Gambit because of it for a few months before i managed to get them to realize I considered it really rude since i was actively trying to hide my own accent at the time. ✨listening to some videogame OSTs while I flesh out my OC playlists, which obviously includes the Persona OSTs. And aside from me making the very obvious chapter 7 joke by putting it in the context of persona 4, I was thinking Abt how different songs from the different OSTs are kinda fitting for different OCs of mine. And then NOW I'm thinking about what arcana everyone would be in a persona game. So here's that list. Because I'm already utterly insane. it's not lore or anything, though, more just me musing about characters, sort of.

🦐Yuna: an obvious pick for Yuna would be the Fool. I mean, she is my version of Yuu, after all, which means that the Fool Arcana would be a really fitting pick for her. Bonus bc she kinda gets epic awesome personas of her choice if that's the case. If I WASN'T going based off of her mc vibes, though, I'd probably give her something like the Hanged Man or Moon Arcana, just because of the way she is as a person (and the card meanings/affiliations both in and out of universe).

🎩Lewis: after doing some thinking, I think the Hermit Arcana would be a pretty good pick for Lewis. He is a hermit, in some ways, in that he prefers to keep his popular persona (pun not intended), Chamomile, a secret from everyone around him. When he's not in his studio, he's idling with the board game club or hiding away from crowds, people watching. That, or he's used his UM to catch a moment of solace before returning to his daily life. He'd definitely also fall into more of a support role anyways, not particularly liking being in the central spotlight (most of the time, anyways).

♌Izem: what better pick for the strong, big brotherly character of Izem than the strong and noble Emperor Arcana? I think he'd vibe with two of the canon Emperors (moreso Kanji, but he'd probably fw Yusuke too), but also I think it fits with how I currently envision him as a character. He's strong, and pretty intelligent, but does have a tendency to focus on the finer details and not on the bigger picture, which can be a problem for him.

🦜Rusul: I still don't have a great grasp on how I want Rusul to be yet, but I think that the Chariot Arcana would be a good fit for him. He's a pretty peppy and athletic kinda guy, but can be stubborn and headstrong if he gets it in his head that it'd be to his benefit.

🐁: I. Genuinely don't know where I was gonna go with James at first, but similar to Lewis and Casimir, I kinda scrolled thru some diff arcana on the wiki and came to the conclusion that the Devil Arcana would be quite fitting for him. He's super proud and conceited, sure, but he's a very determined and diligent guy who ultimately just wants to clear his family's name/reputation and/or dazzle the masses and inspire others. Idk. He's a silly guy.

🌙: Lowkey was struggling a bit with an arcana for Casimir until I randomly decided to click on the Fortune Arcana link on the persona wiki. And the description for Fortune characters is kinda totes fitting for him. I mean seriously.

Casimir is a really talented musician but is. Definitely hindered by pressure from his father, but also from his peers (though that's more of a social pressure to act "normal", whatever that means).

🩺: I think choosing the Hierophant would be a total cop out for Heinrich but also it's. Very fitting at the same time. Dude is very much a protective guardian figure over the students of NRC and is more than willing to provide helpful guidance, even if it seems odd or out of place.

SMP stands for survival multi-player!! if you want to start with QSMP i would start with this video (i hope it links you to the rest of the playlist, if not you can go to the channel, click on playlists, and it should be the one titled QSMP with about 200 shortish videos) this is a quick 9 minute introduction of all the members who joined right at the beginning of the server

the next video should be wilbur's first day on the server, but you can jump around and watch just about anything. the egg arc is where the creators start to roleplay more instead of just messing around, so you can skip ahead to that if you want! i haven't watched a majority of the videos on the playlist, i mostly just read through the wiki and absorbed information through the fandom and fanfictions lol but it's up to you!!! your experience watching the QSMP is yours to curate!!! if you want to know some some major plot points and then dive headfirst into watching more recent stuff, i can give you a brief summary if you'd like and catch you up on current events!! if you'd like to stay caught up, many of the creators stream on Twitch on the QSMP just about every day, and ofc you don't have to watch EVERYONE, that would be INSANE, but people do talk about the lore in the qsmp tag every day and looking through it can get you caught up fast.

if you're primarily an English speaker, some good streamers you can watch to keep up with things would be FitMC, Tubbo, JaidenAnimations, and BadBoyHalo. i do highly recommend watching creators of other languages too, since there is an in-game translator and some creators like Roier, Etoiles, and Bagi often have theirs set to translate to English while they're speaking their own languages. i personally highly recommend Cellbit, he's a Brazilian streamer and his QSMP character is one of my favourites!!! there are translators on tumblr and twitter who often translate some of his dialogue into English, and his streams are very fun to watch even if you don't speak Portuguese. Another Brazilian creator is Forever, who's really involved in the recent roleplay and has such an awesome character arc happening right now, like oh my GOD dude he's insane for this, the amount of effort he is putting into this server is NUTS!!!

and of course, Quackity!! he's the owner of the server and his character is also amazing. here's his first video on the SMP! you can scroll through his channel and find more QSMP videos pretty easily. his videos and streams are hilarious so i would genuinely recommend watching him, the stuff he's done with this server is so so cool

OH WOW ok!!! alright. sit down because i am about to learn you a thing!!!! so MCYT stands for "minecraft youtube" and it actually encompasses a HUGE amount of youtubers/twitch streamers, minecraft smps, content, and storylines. A LOT of different creators fall under the MCYT umbrella, but the SMPs are probably what you're talking about, because those are FULL of lore. you don't have to watch one to understand another, although some might make references to other SMPs. think of it like... huge DND campaigns but in minecraft. they roleplay as fictionalized versions of themselves and do a lot of improv acting

the servers i'm into right now are the DSMP and QSMP!! the DSMP was a server owned by Dream (who is kind of a shit person which is part of the reason the server ended) but the storyline created by creators on the server like Wilbur Soot, Tommyinnit, Technoblade, and a lot of others was AMAZING. they created this insane story about a small nation who went to war, there was a revolution, an election that resulted in a dictatorship, and so much more. oh my god it was so cool. someone named EvanMC made videos summarizing some major plot points (playlist here), but if you REALLY want to get into it, there's a channel called Blueberry TV that's making full recap videos, and the playlist (here) has like. over 300 videos so far. BUT NOT ALL OF THEM ARE NECESSARY TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!! you can skip ahead at a lot of points, or even just find a single creator's character you like and watch vods or videos from their point of view. i would highly recommend Wilbur Soot, Tommyinnit, Tubbo, BadBoyHalo, or Quackity because their roleplay was consistently just absolutely insane, but i'd also recommend POVs like Fundy, Captain Puffy, DropsByPonk, or Jack Manifold if you want to explore different viewpoints! I know Wilbur and Tommy have made edited down videos of many of their DSMP vods, so that might be a decent place to start if you're curious (although searching for those in the mess of their other videos might be a hassle lol), or you can skim the wiki if you'd like (here!!!) it officially ended i think late 2022-early 2023 (i can't remember) but the official canon ending to the overall story is really up in the air, so it's mostly left to fan interpretation now.

THE QSMP IS SO GOOD oh my god. it's a huge multilingual server that started around March and is still going!! it was started by Quackity, and the plot really started when a bunch of eggs appeared on the island and the members were paired up to take care of them, with one English speaking creator and one Spanish speaking creator to a pair. eventually five Brazilians were invited to the server, and later some French creators as well!! they're all trapped on this one island by an organization called the Federation, and no one knows exactly what's going on, but there are mysteries to solve and monsters to fight and lots of found family elements in the overall plot. if you want some general recaps, the official QSMP Info channel has a couple videos recapping stuff (link here) and there are channels like Angry Thomas that make bite sized videos (like 5-20 minutes) about some general plot points. Quackity ofc has his own vod channel where you can watch his streams and learn about his character's lore. you can also skim the wiki (link here) to familiarize yourself with some of the characters. if all else fails you can probably make a post asking for the plot and throw it in the qsmp tag here on tumblr and you'll get a decent handful of people in your notes giving you a sparknotes summary. we love talking about our weird little minecraft guys

The DSMP and QSMP are so good in their own ways, the DSMP for its insane improv roleplay and the QSMP for its crazy planned events and and the way it brings multiple communities and cultures together!!! you don't have to watch one to understand the other. i suggest you only get into one at a time because they are both crammed with backstory and lore. i'd recommend getting into QSMP first because it's still going, and once you feel more or less caught up, you can probably test the DSMP waters. they can both get quite heavy in their stories, so if you need a list of trigger warnings or anything feel free to ask and i can def provide :3 if you're intrigued by either of them but don't know exactly where to start, i'd suggest the Blueberry TV playlist for DSMP and the Angry Thomas videos or the Quackity VODs for QSMP. see if there are any creators you enjoy watching and go from there!!!! consuming the stories of these SMPs is a bit difficult because there's so much content, but no one is expected to watch every single video or stream by every creator. a lot of the story gets passed around through word of mouth through the fandoms, so don't feel bad if you feel like you miss anything!!! if you have questions, you can ask just about anyone in the fandoms and they'll probably have an answer!!!
