We're the jedi conscripted, or did they join the war by choice

Short answer:

They were conscripted, but they didn't resist the conscription by choice.

You can read more on the subject here (with quotes by George Lucas supporting this), here re: the Jedi's relationship with the clones and here (explaining that while the Jedi were flawed, they weren't at fault).

Longer answer:

The droid armies were attacking all planets in the Republic's territory, be they neutral or otherwise.

The clones were facing weapons that targeted biological matter, as well as Force-users and cyborgs.

The people of the Republic - for the most part - were too weak or fearful or defenseless to fight back.

The Jedi are super-powered beings who've been drafted into a war, against their express desires.

If they so wished, they could start a putch, take control of the Senate rotunda, make everyone back off the Order.

Or just go on strike, say "nope, we don't stand for this, we're not warriors, see ya, good luck" and leave Coruscant.

Or they could sabotage droid factories here and there.

Will any of these options stop the war? We - the audience - know the answer to that is "no."

Because the truth is, this war is designed to be fought by the Jedi, so as to thin their numbers and ultimately destroy them completely.

Hence why,

the enemy is so blatantly evil (corporations mustering an army of lifeless killing machines) and

the victims are so clearly denfeseless (see the Lurmen pacifists or the Twi'lek or the Shili) and

the Republic's army is so hapless (the clones are well-trained, but they're just human, they are out of their depth and considered to be nothing more than expendable cannon fodder by both their creators and their owners).

If you're a Jedi, and your duty is to preserve life and end conflict... there really is only one answer that does the least damage.

And that's joining the conflict to help the people of the Republic, and to lead the clones so as to end the war.

Thus, the Jedi were both legally and morally compromised... and misled. Because there never was any "ending" to this war.

The war was a sham.

It was engineered by two Sith Lords to cause chaos from which the Empire could rise from after the destruction of the Jedi Order. That chaos can take ANY form, as long as both those boxes are ticked.

Like, suppose the Jedi hadn't joined... Palpatine, master politician that he is, could just as easily spin this as "the callous dispassionate Jedi would rather let people die than forego their dogmatic values of peace above all," still turn the public on them, and then have both the clones and the Separatists kill them on sight.

Because again: there was no war. BOTH those armies belonged to the Sith, they were shooting at each other so that the Jedi would step in-between them and get shot.

The only way to win this game was to either

fight it on the appropriate battlefield (the political arena, which the Jedi have no experience with),

acknowledge what's happening is beyond their understanding and try to play catch-up until they can do more,

and/or, when the time comes, have the Chosen One fulfill the prophecy and destroy the Sith.

They undertook the middle option, even grazed victory with it...

... and then Anakin - in a masterclass of fucking up - renders that middle option viable by reversing the third one - tailor-made for him and only him - and siding with the Sith, thus leaving the Force in darkness and the galaxy in chaos.

Ok this is all the way from September. I am SO SORRY I BARELY SAW THIS😭😭 but yes omg I’d love to talk abt them!! I think I’ll just use this as a chance to yap abt how they met LOL

So initially J.P. had no desire to talk to John (which I talked more abt in his character sheet) John on the other hand is *very* talkative, maybe too much cause he has like a number opps but that’s a different story for another day. ANYWAY how they first meet is at a scare house! John is an actor in it and J.P. Is kinda forced to go by his friend (buddy holly clone hehe) J.P. actually dosent fw halloween that much. Why dress up as someone else when ur already struggling with insane identity issues?😭🙏

As J.P. goes through the scare house he gets lost and is just kinda anxiously wandering around in it. In comes John who’s just kind of standing there in his zombie costume (without glasses cause it ruins the look duh! So he can’t see shit). J.P. recognizes him, sighs, and gives an awkward wave. John’s actually horrible at his job and has been zoned out for the past half hour so seeing a blob in front of him sort of shocks him(and if I’m being honest I haven’t thought much past this point but somehow they end up friends from this😭😭😭😭😭😭 leave suggestions actually)

I've been meaning to ask, what exactly is a Battle Method Turing Test, and what are you using the data for? Happy Chaos calls it a "psychophisical paradox," and I'm not entirely sure what that means, either

Oh. I suppose that's something you heard from, er, the video games? There's no way you would know of it otherwise...

Well. It's just a side project at the moment... As you probably know, my clone, R♯, is leading it from Earth. All it details is collecting combat simulation data from individuals and adding them to a database.

From there, I can generate convincing combat simulation models capable of copying both the style and appearance of those whose data is entered into the database. That includes myself, of course.

All combat simulations are both unreal and real. They only exist within the mind, being simulations overlaid on reality through the connection between the eyes and the brain, so other people who aren't connected cannot see nor feel these simulations.

But that doesn't mean they can't hurt you.

I began this project as a means of honing self defense techniques. That's all.

Q: Plz infodump everything

A: In addition to everything l've already answered: here are some ideas

1. Echo repeatedly bites Fives, though after the first time it's always meant to be friendly even though because Echo has really sharp teeth Fives ends up almost bleeding out on multiple occasions.

2. When Fives and Echo are learning to Live again on Kamino, Fives is able to let go of some of the dark side of the Force because he thinks going Light will help heal Echo. On multiple occasions he tries to purify the Kyber crystals in his lightsaber but just CAN'T, like no matter what he does they always stay red, and Fives is incapable of leaving the Dark because of all the things he was forced to do by Palpatine.

3. While still High On Instincts Echo (when not threatened) just acts like a Sea puppy and is cute.

4. Omega visited Echo in his tank once but was forbidden from coming back by Nala se.

5. While he was experimented on by Kaminoans, one of the main droids taking care of Echo during downtime was AZI. After the destruction of Kamino, Echo scavenges what was left of AZI and carries the droid around like a toy. Fives recognises AZI and they bond more trying to fix the droid.

6. Fives is constantly sad even though he tries not to be bc on a certain level he blames himself for not escaping Palpatine earlier and saving echo from the torture that made him lose his mind.

7. Echo Knows that Fives gets sad but doesn't know why because he's in fishbrain mode, so as comfort Echo kinda flops all over him and they sit together cuddling watching the sunset because I need comfort to go with hurt.

8. Rex blames himself for everything no matter what, he believes that he is cursed and is the reason all the people closest to him suffer so much.

9. When Rex shows up on kamino, they contact Ahsoka who is able to help them research some type of Sith ritual that would allow echo to morph his tail into legs, but the first time they try it it doesn't work be Echo is still fishbrain and doesn't know what's going on

Hi! I really really love your blog and all the things you talk about! And as you've recently posted some good pieces about clones, I wanted to ask if you had a favourite clone?

But seriously, your posts are spectacular :)

Hey there! First of all thanks a whole bunch :D That post was originally written on August 28th 2021, so took a while to get it to a good spot, I'm so damn happy and grateful that people are responding to it!

In terms of my favorite clone... it's interesting because there's different angles to see that question from.

I absolutely adore the fandom's interpretation of Fox.

Rex and Cody are obvious great ones. Heavy is one I like a lot. Howzer looks badass as all hell.

But my original love was Alpha-17, the ARC trooper.

The sassiest clone of them all!

Like c'moooon Obi-Wan! Just let him make 2-3 teeny tiny assassinations.

Also I just found out that he trained Rex, in Legends, which is awesome!

Clone High Reboot Take 2 (CHRT2) is a fan-made rewrite of the Clone High reboot created by @jaydencoolguy, with the help of some friends. It's currently planned to be a webcomic, but if we're extra ambitious we may dub it.

Our goal is to improve the problems of the reboot and utilize the reboot's concepts to their full potential. We will also try our best to maintain the spirit of the original Clone High series. CHRT2 is currently in its concept phase, so we will be open to suggestions.

Outside of the actual comic, we will post concept art, doodles, and even memes. Certain artworks will be tagged as either canon or non-canon. This post will be edited as more advancements are made.

Q: Opinions on the reboot?

A: I have a lot of mixed feelings that I'll try to summarize in a few sentences. The reboot had a ton of potential, I enjoy a lot of the concepts but they weren't executed too well. There is some stuff I like and others that I don't, and I especially dislike the mischaracterization of the returning clones. The reboot wasn't all bad, but it could have been miles better.

Q: Will Gandhi be in Take 2?

A: Yes!

Q: What ships will be canon?

A: I'm not gonna spoil too much, but JoanFK, Kahlopatra, and Tubfucius will still be canon in CHRT2. There will also be MLM pairings among the main clones, but I won't reveal them yet.

Q: Was the "HRT" in the acronym intentional?

A: No, but I noticed it as soon as I typed it out. It doesn't have a secret deeper meaning, but I am a trans man so there's that.

Q: Inspiration for the name Clone High Reboot Take 2?

A: The name was vaguely inspired by the object show Paper Puppets Take 2. "Take 2" has a nice ring to it, I think.

Q: Who is your favorite Clone High character?

A: Abe. Gandhi is a close second.

mind that i love odyssey, but i still have a few problems with it, so that's what i'm ranting about. feel free to click away rn if negativity upsets you, to weight in the discussion or stuff. i'd love to hear different interpretations.

while i love odyssey duo, i do think that parrot hasn't done nearly enough to deserve wifies' loyalty, and there are times i feel bad for wifies. but i still love odyssey duo so LOL. i'm also fine with their current relationship. the fact that parrot takes wifies for granted is sickening, it makes you a bit ill, and i like that it's part of enjoying this duo. it's angsty, it makes you want to shake both of them until they have a healthy relationship, but i like them unhealthy and codependent like that.

THAT ASIDE.

i have a lot of criticism for uu that i just put on the sideline because the eps are enjoyable regardless, but i was thinking about one thing today. the start of odyssey duo is... practically hung by a single, thin thread. it's missing sm flesh in the beginning. like, the meme of the horse where a part is so realistic and fleshed out and the other part is a toddler's scrawl. the scrawl is the beginning of their relationship. how did that one scavenger hunt make wifies willing to chunkban himself indefinitely for parrot? it made no sense, even if i liked the duo.

wifies himself has answered in qnas that odyssey hasn't been fleshed out very much and you kinda just have to go along with it, 'suspension of disbelief', so i know i'm not stupid or crazy. 😭 maybe parrot will flesh their relationship out in the future, but for now i like to follow wifies' hc that parrot made clonefies feel human. it's a really sweet hc and it ties everything together.

wifies is attached to parrot because he makes him feel human emotions. every second wifies is by parrot's side he's learning to be human. for a clone that struggles with his own existence (why him of all clones? is he more than just a clone of evilfies?), parrot has to be a shining beacon (heh...) in his life.

The third form Prince Magolor mentioned in one of our QnA asks.

He's taking a lot of inspiration from Meta Knight for this form, as Meta Knight is the second strongest person he knows (Kirby being the first).

Using dark magic to take this form, he's got wings made completely of Dark Matter (hence the eyes on them)! And his attacks are similar to Meta Knight's, just with a Mago-Magic/Dark Matter twist to it!

Hope you guys enjoy this! Cuz this fun to make (tho it was difficult cuz I never done Meta Knight clones before)!

Things Rjalker is Wrong About

this one blogger is making me like, completely fucking lose it?? It (rjalker uses it/its pronouns) has some kind of vitriolic hate vendetta against the author Martha Wells (and a few others) and while some of its critique is actually kind of valid, in other cases it gets things so wrong that I'm utterly bewildered about how anyone could come to that reading of the text.

While I could just walk away and not think about it any more, I'm kind of too fascinated to do that but I have to get it out somewhere, so here's a post I'll continue updating as it says more batshit things.

What I'd like to start off with today is the claim that Murderbot (The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells) was born a human baby that was then mutilated into a cyborg slave.

It's been using this, what the author said online in some kind of QnA, as proof of this claim:

Now, the technical definition of cyborg is: "in science fiction stories, a creature that is part human and part machine" or "a bionic human" or "a being with both organic and biomechatronic body parts" or "an entity made up of both biological and technical elements". At it's base level, it means something both organic and machine.

However, the term "cyborg" has recently started leaning in a direction where when people hear it they picture more specifically a human or animal that has been modified with mechanical parts to some extent, and with the way Murderbot is described in the books, this is inaccurate and not what the author would want people to picture- so it's called a "construct" instead.

(likewise, the term "android" or similar words tend to have people picturing a robot that is merely human in shape but is fully mechanical, and that is also inaccurate in terms of what Murderbot is)

All Rjalker is using to say that Murderbot was born a human infant that was mutilated at birth is that the author, in one QnA, said that "cyborg is technically correct," meaning that Rjalker is using the informal definition of "cyborg" as though it were blatant fact.

In the books, Murderbot's only human parts are described as some human brain tissue and nerves, some skin covering its mechanical parts, and potentially its lungs (though its lungs don't work like a regular human's so who knows). It does not have bones, or organs, or muscle tissue, and what skin and flesh it does have is described specifically as being "cloned".

There is nothing indicating it ever was born a human in the books or in any other statement by the author, and using "the author said that teeeeechnically the character is a cyborg so that means my interpretation is right" is, to put it simply, fucking stupid.

(Side note: Rjalker has been using this claim of "Murderbot was born a human" to insist that the author is claiming that people who have been altered with prosthetics/life support devices/etc are not human, despite there being plenty of humans with augments of prosthetics in the setting of the story that are not treated as any less human in the Free World part of the setting?)

(And like, Murderbot is the main character who is given the most insight and empathy from the narrative, with lots of emphasis both by the narrative and the other characters that its life has no less value than theirs- because even if it isn't human by some definitions, it still is a person.)

Q: does echo get his legs/ sanity back?

A: Eventually yes because he needs legs if he ever wants to leave Kamino, and neither Rex nor Fives can house him AND a tank on their ships.

They find a Sith ritual or something that should help with his legs, but it doesn't work well until echo remembers enough to WANT his legs back, meaning his mind has to fully recover before his body can.

Q: Is echos tail permanent? Enhancable/interchangable? Does he get leggies?

A: Bro does indeed get leggies yes yes

Until they manage to complete their silly Sith ritual the tail would be permanent unless they find a Fancy Doctor with Fancy Equipment, in which case after surgical removal he won't be able to get the tail back.

Since they can't find a Fancy Doctor, Sith things it is, which | think would allow them to bring the tail back either by completing the same ritual in reverse, or for the ritual itself to be more of a "this will allow you to change between forms H20 style"
