“that’d be me.” the woman speaks. sparing him not but a glance in his direction. the tone she uses is casual, yet demeaning and blunt. not unlike a predator playing with its prey before slaughter. bemused, they. takes a sip from the glass of red wine and wipes her lip with their hand.

“so what brings you here.. to Lust. isn’t much for an angel to see. i’m assuming what you thought was going to be here was just sex and fucking. i hope i can change your mind, archangel.”

they taunt. although her voice is laced with a perverse annoyance, they keep their head steady as to not anger the archangel across from her. the angels tone is noticeably hurt;

“so.. you must be gabriel, then. scorned from heaven because you lost to a machine. then you killed the fucking council..?!” the woman laughs, akin to a witches cackle as a fierce transformation begins.

she stands up quickly, fingernails sharpening to short talons as she pushes them into the table, scattering it away; eyes glowing a bright blue instead of their dull hurricane blue.

their wings unfurl. stormy grey reminiscent of ash, they flush out to wrap around gabriel tightly to pull the stunned archangel to her. grinning with a barely concealed malice, running a talon down the helm of gabriel’s armor.

“we should chat later, archangel.. but i have other more interesting shit to deal with- like relationship issues with one of my favorite couples. glad i got to meet ya though.” she mock-salutes him, complete with flipping him off and winking at him. going to what seems to be a landing pad of her home, a skytower; she twirls around the pole a few times then folds her wings around themselves and falls backward into Lust’s forever bustling nightlife. bisexual lighting

“toodloo, fucker!” is the last thing gabriel hears from the Watcher. albeit concerned, he knows where to find her.

“Ellie.. Watcher of Lust and Fallen Angel Angle. I suppose i will go to the library after all, to catch up on my geometry..”

gabriel’s eyes closed slowly, hand reaching out to nothing. barely a whisper, without even registering his own words. ‘i’ll do it again.”

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐲. almost like it was designed to taunt him; gabriel opens his eyes with a reluctant wincing groan as the moonlight scatters through the many layers of silent, creaking forest. searching the deep and hazy night-darkened woods, gabriel seats himself on a half derelict tree stump.

pausing; taking a tense moment to run his fingers down the now tainted ethereal white armor plates. each stained with various colors of thick red or thin and dried golden ichor.

his breath catches in his mouth. gabriel’s lips quiver, tears forever closed-off and hidden away with the helmet resting on his shoulder. but as his body slowly drifts from running on adrenaline to shock; his nerves stand on alert and edge. the helmet feels to small, now, unable to breathe and constricting.

the allure of cutting his throat in that moment tempted him more than the fruits of lust. summoning Splendor with shaking, blood-bearing hands was a ritual of its own, now. but peering into the reflection of the now amber-hued lightsword made his very soul twinge in bitter anguish.

the sword dropping to the forests hushes, gabriel pauses. helmet lifting from its downward angle, but the shadow over the helm shows the very same damage inside the safety of it.

“what have i done..?” gabriel’s voice, choked and hoarse, practically booms across the forest’s calm. everything seems to still.

“i’ve killed everything i’ve known since my very creation! myself! the council! they were right?! how could i let my faith be swayed by a fucking nikkon!?”

wings splayed and tinged with the same amber-red as he hovers just above the fire, gabriel’s own voice contradicts and betrays him. surveying the still forest around him, he manifests Justice into his offhand. staring into the blade.

“i’ve surely doomed myself. i’m- i’m nothing, if not a martyr.”

gabriel throws both his blades to the side, watching as they dig deep into the soft dirt. his helmet tilts to the side, as though staring at it in disbelief.

“i can do now, as i must.”

gabriel lifts Justice to his clavicle. sighing as the suns rising dapples the forests floor with rays like fire, he swallows thickly.

“repentance is not something i thought i’d do for myself.. alas, i’m here now.”

the golden sheen of ichor sprays over the fire, igniting the flames into blazen bursts of angel blood.

drawing in a quick breath, they awake from a dream- no, a memory? whatever. shaking her head, the Watcher crosses her arms over her chest. raising an indignant eyebrow at the sight before her, scoffing.

“here we are, huh?”

she speaks, biting her lip. not even knowing or expecting an answer from the being in front of them.

“not if i had a say in it.”

he shoots back, matching their posture (although wilting when he sees the two teens in the background.)

“meaning?”

she cocks an eyebrow.

“if your denizens had not summoned me with Lucifer’s hands then we would not be in this situation!”

he almost brings a hand to his mouth after the words spit out like a tree rending forests ablaze.

they look at him with an almost sickly level of disgust. disbelief, disrespect. sucking in words rather lay unspoken, her mouth opens with Hell Hath No Fury like Wounded Pride.

she walks up to him, smoothly; with a blank yet snake-like smile on their face. reaching out hands to his, their palms open.

“why do you feel such hate towards mortals? anyways, i will gladly beat your ass all the way into next week.”

they state, hands pressed harsh to his sternum; talons almost too realistically threatening to spill golden ichor over the purple purenees of Lust’s marketplace’s.

“I- Must you know I do not feel it towards them themselves!”

he stammers out quickly. all eyes, whether glares or fearful, were on him now. Gabriel clears his throat and fiddles with his hands before asking, simply,

“May i incline your name, watcher?”

the whole market seemed to go silent, and the ‘night’ seemed to darken. her fists clench as they speak through gritted teeth, holding back a unkempt rage with a taut smile.

“my name, Angel, is better lost to the history books. “

and the market let out a sigh it didn’t know it was holding.

- when grimm was at olympia for the first time, he bought bayard scented ink to write with

- grimm and bayard were inseparable in school. grimm often beat bayards bullies and bayard helped with grimms sword fighting

- they have matching engravings on their gloves

- albion is a very haughty spire. any form of PDA is a no-no and looked down upon. teen grimm and bayard often snuck behind school grounds to kiss

(it’s not frowned upon to love the same sex, just uncommon. it’s more frowned upon to love a warrior born as a high class noble)

- when bayard bought grimm predator, there was a note in the captains bunk saying; “XoXo skip. safe travels on the etherium.”

- probably confessed to trevor while he’s under the influence and didn’t know if he’d remember it

- a lean up and kiss your cheek kisser. probably brushed your hair out of the way too.

- protective but only because he’s had to handle himself his whole life. he’s not used to having people around him.

- physical contact is awkward at first but a must afterward.

- is happiest around his partners who could definitely kill him

sypha:

- kisses on your knuckles or on your cheeks.

- knows you can handle yourself, but as this is her first time being without her caravan she doesn’t want to lose anyone.

- big on hugs and hand holding for reassurance

hello tg (tokyo ghoul) mutuals here is my small rant on the weird amount of transphobia in tg fandom spaces and only judging characters based on actions while completely disregarding the characters arcs and storylines

yes this is about tooru how did you know

tooru has been one of my favorite characters since he was introduced. he’s introduced to us as a man, and we (as an audience) don’t question it. the characters around him don’t question it. it’s only “if you can’t keep up with your ghoul abilities, then you can’t keep up with the squad.” not based on his gender, no underlying transphobia. just criticizing his strength at the time.

it’s only when he is revealed to be a trans man that the audiences perception of him completely changes. he was perfectly capable of tracking down the Torso even without the added part of his story of being a trans man. he was perfectly capable of nurturing his strength and harnessing his ghoul abilities without the aspect of being a trans man. it’s a part of his character that doesn’t reflect on his strength, but it is an extremely important part of his character.

in the auction raid, where the Qs dress up as women to infiltrate the auction, Tooru is the only one (besides Shirazu) to express multiples times and only explicitly related to his gender that he is uncomfortable in women’s clothing. he also states he wanted to dress himself, as only Haise knew at this point about his identity.

one point i want to address is the double standards in this fandom. in the auction raid, Tooru cannibalizes on another ghoul to heal and have access to his kagune in preparation for his fight with Kanae. Urie does the same with his fight against Donato, although framing out in the process. it can be viewed differently when auto cannibalism occurs, however it is still a double standard i wanted to address.

and no i will not be talking about rushima because what the actual fuck was that arc. complete character assassination. the only thing i can say with certainty is that Tooru went through severe psychosis at the time, caused by the mental torture of having the repressed memories of his past dug up all at once. but imo… a lot of it felt extremely fetishized past rushima raid, especially after the Takizawa fight.

Tooru is undeniably a trans man. at the very least, his gender does not fit with the sex he was given at birth. he says it himself: “i want to live as a man from here on out.” although Ishida uses mixed pronouns between he/they/she for english readers later in the story, it is more of a reflection of how fragile his mental state was after Haise left. who was Tooru’s only grounding presence.

i can say with certainty that denying Tooru’s trans-ness is homophobic at best and transphobic at worst. my own experience with gender identity was caused in part by trauma, so i don’t understand the argument that his gender isn’t valid. Tooru Mutsuki has never and will never be a girl in the current timeline of :re.
